(Hide Review...)  Hugely introspective literary masterpiece
Reviewer Permalink
I just finished this masterpiece, I read it cover to cover in a single sitting. I simply could not put it down. Time seems to have warped around me. All I can say is *WOW*!

From the moment you open it's pumpkin hued glossiness, it grabs you and simple won't let go. And I could completely relate with those poor souls trapped in cubicle hell! It allowed me to see that those shameful bad words that literally jump from my lips, well, they just aren't mine. It is such a liberating experience to know that it was the servers at work that caused the behavior.

I cannot wait to show my son the love I have from him with my new Home Server. It practically brings me to tears every time I check the UPS tracking website.

Stop what you are doing right this minute. Go and order the book, and then order the Home server. Pay it forward for our children, and we will make this world a better place, one Home Server at a time.

I am sofa king we Todd did.

(Hide Review...)  Clever way to present an idea

I have to be honest, I bought this product as a professional experience for my marketing job. It is really a clever, hilarious and freshing way to present a product. I'm currently not in the situation described in the book, but I know I will be there soon, and I think it would be really usefull.
Although, I think it's a little expensive, I'm really satisfied with my excercise :)

(Hide Review...)  For anyone in IT who has children
Reviewer Permalink
First it should be noted that this is a very creative marketing strategy about a Microsoft product. That is important to understand because it is not a children's book with a heavy emphasis on product placement.

So, with that clearly understood, let's review the book. I found it to be very funny, and my kids loved it. I work for Microsoft and while I am not in an IT role the book helped me explain to my very young kids some of what Daddy does at work.

The writing is clever and clearly articulates what the product does. If you are in IT and watch your kids eyes glaze over when you explain what you do, then buy them a copy and have fun!

As a children's book it will not win any awards for literary excellence or social commentary, but as a fun and educational book for your kids that can be had for the price of a nice cup of copy, it is perfect!

This is a well done and very funny story about Servers. Who would have thought a sentence like that would ever exist?

(Hide Review...)  Worth the price only for the laugh
Reviewer Permalink
I understand that this is only advertising material for the multi-billion dollar conglomerate that is Microsoft, but still I find it refreshing when a company doesn't take themselves too seriously, and are able to produce tongue-in-cheek advertisements like this. It is an advertisement for Microsoft Home Server, but written as a children's book explaining to the child why Mommy and Daddy would want a server in the home. I bought it for my niece just for the laugh!

(Hide Review...)  Excellent Coffee Table Book
Reviewer Permalink
This book is unquestionably one of the more brilliant peices of marketing to come out of Microsoft. Put it on your coffee table as a sure fire conversation starter when the company is over, or maybe try to use it to convince your spouse why you really need a home server! Really well done.

This book is hilarious, I'm glad to see updated and real-life reflected in children's books.
I read this to my family and when I got to one part (you'll know which part when you buy it) my wife was covering her face and beat red trying to choke down a laugh.
My middle daughter (6) liked it so much she brought it to school for a group reading.

If you're into technology, or have more than one computer at home you gotta have this book.

Since when did Ad Collateral make it in to Amazon? I'll be looking for the companion volume: "How to install Linux on your new HP Media Server"

Microsoft was giving these away at CES 2008 at their Home Server booth. I grabbed 3 just for the LOLz and to give one to my boss in hopes it would help him has it helped me understand why I should get rid of my Linux running samba server here at home for a Windows home server.

What do they have to resort to, for getting their products in your door?

Just not up to the usual quality of the entire series! Whatever happened to "Sydney Sims Likes to Run Bob Desktop" and "When FlightSim Does Not Work"? They are classics!

My kids loved this book so much that they insisted that I buy them others in the same series including "Rover the dog says "SYN/ACK!", "How to be the Best at Firewall Configuration (The Boy's Book)", "Big, Bad Bill And The Blue Screen of Death" and their all time favorite "Everybody Poops".
