If you are leaning toward vegetarian, this is a nice cookbook that uses familiar ingredients and menu types. I certainly recommend it.

I have been extremely happy with this book after recently cutting most meat out of my diet. I was not, however, looking to lose weight, but looking for a good cookbook that includes things that I can serve my non-vegetarian husband and he won't complain.
I found this book to contain very "normal", home-style recipes that are easy, hearty, and don't rely heavily on tofu, as many vegetarian cookbooks seem to do. These ingredients are things I already have in my cupboard and can combine quickly for a hearty, tasty meal. A small disclaimer, however: I have always used Betty Crocker cookbooks as a reference, and hardly every have I followed them to the "T". That's also how I approach this one, as I will make changes or adjustments to fit my taste. I use this cookbook like I use any Betty Crocker cookbook: as an essential tool in my kitchen for getting ideas, checking times and temperatures for items I cook often, and checking standard ingredients for items I cook less frequently. For these purposes, Betty Crocker is, as always, the best. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-10-19 07:26:32 EST)

New at the vegetarian style and this book has very tasteful recipes without "unheard of" ingredients. Wish more recipes had pics.

This was a gift for my teenage grand daughter who has recently become a vegetarian. She says she has enjoyed the book.

After reading The China Study by Colin Campbell, my husband and I decided to try a vegetarian diet. I have lost 60 pounds through Weight Watchers and eating mainly whole grains, fruit, vegetables, and legumes. I was thrilled to find this recipe book. It contains complete nutrition information at the end of each recipe. Some of the recipes have too many calories for my diet, but at least I know that and can modify or omit those recipes. Thanks Betty!
