I came here to write a review for this book, and found that a reviewer below, "A reader", had already written what I was going to write. This book provides a reader with no information, but with long lists of websites to look at. You can access those websites most often just wasting time (like "A reader" already said). Using search engines like Google/Yahoo is much better than thumbing through this book.

All books on the stock market have something to share. You may not be able to use the knowledge when you read it. But it remains in the mind for future use--when you most need it. Even one idea may be worth thousands of dollars. I am always amazed how readers will trash a book and discourage others from reading a book they do not like. Negative reviewers often prevent possible new readers from ordering and thus not discovering gems that may be valuable to them. Another interesting book that lends itself to buying stocks online is MAKING DOLLARS WITH PENNIES: HOW THE SMALL INVESTOR CAN BEAT THE WIZARDS ON WALL STREET, by R. Max Bowser. Mr. Bowser has many years of investing online and even offers a $5000 guarantee if you don't make a profit using his investment system.

You can't watch television these days without getting bombarded with ads for on line brokerage companies. What's been missing has been a centralized source for information about the whole thing. This book provides that source. It's not complete - if it were it would be so big that you couldn't carry it around - but it's a great start.

You can read this book from cover to cover in just a few hours. That is, just a few hours if you don't take the time to go out on the web looking at the things she suggests. And that right there is the key to this book. Here is a good start that covers the whole field from A to Z, and at nearly each and every point along the way she points you to web sites for more information about specific points.

The problem with going to the web for more information, of course, is that web sites appear, go away, merge or whatever. She admits this, but accepts this risk and gives you multiple sites (you couldn't possibly visit all that she mentions) or suggests ways to find a missing or dead site.

This is a great way to get the basic information you need before getting started with selecting a broker and deciding what to buy.

As I surf the Web, I often feel that it's like visiting a library where all the books have been spilled on the floor. The information is there but I don't know where to begin my search. "Investing Online For Dummies" explained how to get started, steered me to free or low cost online services, pointed out the important parts of Web sites, and showed me the process of online investing.

i had to rate this book one star because there was no "ZERO"! This book is complete garbage and the worst investment you can make to start your investment career. There are other books on investing in this series, which do an incredible job for beginners. Even the resource center at any decent online broker has better information for you than this book has and the links won't go bad!

(Hide Review...)  Great Book for Beginners

This book does not only explain how to invest online but it also explains investing in simple terms for beginners. Being in my 20s, I know very little about investing but this book helped me get through all the "street lingo". Just a little caveat--some of the information about online companies may be outdated--which is to be expected since it was published last year. This should not pose a problem as long as you do some minimal research on your own.
What I really like most about this book is that it is well-organized. The book is organized to be read either from cover to cover, or randomly. Both ways work as I found out. Although almost all of the information you find here can be found on the internet for free, its nice to have the information in an easy-to-read, well-organized book. Because of the openness of the web the information you get might be either suspect or overwhelming (believe me there's a lot of information out there!) or worse it could be both. This book solves that dilemma, and the headache I get after staring at the computer monitor for hours sifting through so much information. If you're planning to invest your hard-earned money, start by investing your $20 on this book.

"Investing Online for Dummies" is filled with excellent source material. I got everything I was looking for. I found the research web sites and stock screening tools especially helpful. The book has saved me many hours of narrowing down my stock buys--using the stock screening tools.

The book is worth every penny and then some.

The book is fine, if you really know nothing about investing. Fortunately, or unfortunately for me I knew a little something something, so it was only marginally helpful. But whatever.

Actually, if you're new to investing, I can't see someone being without this book. It's potentially very helpful and could save you a couple of bucks. Although, in this market, it's a little bit too late.

I have all three of Dr. Sindell's Investing Online for Dummies books and have found them to be very informative and gave great resources. This book is an easy read for the novice investor and gave me the "courage" as an older person to start investing online by myself. All the information I needed has been addressed in these books. I am anxiously awaiting Dr. Sindell's next book for my collection.

Kathleen Sindell's "Investing Online for Dummies" is a clear, concise, well-written book that provides excellent insight to investing online. I found that it provides great advice, and a large number of references that are just mandatory for anyone that plans to use the Internet as an investment tool.

Kathleen presents not only the fundamentals for investing, but provides techniques that will help ensure the probability of success. Kathleen details methods and techniques to use when evaluating an investment. She offers a large number of web sites that provide detailed online investment educational information and web site addresses for opening and maintaining an online investment account.

The manuscript is easy to read and understand. It is filled with tips, techniques, and pitfalls to avoid. I highly recommend this book for anyone preparing to invest online.
