Tim Knight's book," Chart Your Way To Profits", is a very informative book about using Profit Charts and technical analysis. The first half of the book focuses on how to use ProphetCharts to it's fullest capacity, the second half is using and applying technical analysis. I have never written a review of a book but I will share one interaction I had with this author. I had a question about ProphetCharts and e mailed him, he returned the answer that day, within a couple of hours!! Tim is extremely energetic (doesn't seem to sleep much) and publishes a great blog,trades,constantly updates ProphetCharts and has helped improve my trading profitability. As for my own credentials, I was a part time market trader for years but turned full time the last two years.

Tim Knight does a great job talking about how technical analysis works and what some of the simple to use indicators are. The book does however spend quite a bit of time discussing the specifics of his Prophet Charts software (note, Tim doesn't own prophet anymore).

If you skip the chapters on the software, you'll likely find that this is a great little technical reference. It is an easy read, and very usable on a day-to-day basis. I've profited nicely using some of the basics Tim reviews in the book.

Some years ago, the author created a website (www.prophet.net) that provides sophisticated financial market charting services for a fee. This textbook, "Chart Your Way to Profits," is little more than a how-to book or user's guide for using that website only -- it is not a general book about charting the financial markets. If you happen to subscribe to and use the www.prophet.net website, this book should serve you well. If, however, you want to learn about using technical analysis of the financial markets generally, this book is of little or no value. I assumed that this was a general book about technical analysis of the markets, and was shocked to see the very limited and overwhelmingly infomercial nature of this text -- nowhere disclosed in its promotional materials.

The book provides many examples to demonstrate the power of technical analysis. If you are not an expert, this book provides all the features of Prophet Charts and how to use them. Very, very useful is putting it mildly.

This book is a must read for anyone trading in the market, regardless of whether you are a short term trader or longer term investor. Tim Knight's knowledge and expertise in the area of charting is outstanding. I have used his chapter on "Fibonacci Friendly" patterns very successfully since reading his book in 2007. I am an Investools and ThinkorSwim client who truly respects the authors expertise with technical analysis. His book "Charting Your Way To Prophets" has helped me become a better trader and investor. I regularly (daily) visit his blog at slopeofhope.com to stay current with his Prophet chart updates and his current technical reading of the markets and tradeable trends.

Great book and very informative. Lots of wonderful charting suggestions and would highly recommend. For the guy getting to know charting, like myself, this is a must read.

Context (About me):
A little about me for context. I am actually not a trader, nothing interests me less then babysitting trades all day, sounds very tedious. That said, I am a software engineer at a company that provides training to investors, and the mechanics of trades, and the breakdown of the elements of a pattern or trend line do interest me greatly. Sounds like a contradiction, but its really not.

The Review:
The first part of this book was very engaging, and gave me a phenomenal baseline of information. Thanks to this book I have a much better appreciation for the information provided by charts, and can better anticipate the needs of my company's customers. I wont review the second half of the book, as this was a very detailed manual for the Prophet Charts application from Investools, and I found that to be intuitive enough that I did not need the manual. I am sure it was helpful for non tech savvy individuals, but I did not get through the section myself.

I will finish by saying that I am very ready to write a 5 star review and am anxiously awaiting the opportunity to do so.
All it will take to get this is a full volume from Mr. Knight (if that is in-fact his real name) on charting, sans the Prophet Charts manual.

Tim is straight forward and direct, so is his book. His examples and clear and realistic (as opposed to unrealistic perfection). You then have the opportunity to follow his blog and see new examples just about every day.

I am fairly new to trading so i have been reading every book I can get my hands on. Most are about a system that worked years ago or they just do a shotgun approach at explaining how to read charts and every possible pattern and you have no idea of how to trade it.

This book is different. Tim goes over a handful of his favorite techniques and does them in extreme detail. Showing you both why it works and the target of where it is heading and what might happen if it does go wrong and how to protect yourself. That's what everyone needs to know.

I am now a believer in Technical Analysis and have been making the percentages that I thought only the "big guys" made. I have recommended this book to my family and I have no problem in recommending this book to you.

If you happen to be lucky enough to have Prophet charts for trading, and many online brokers do, this book is a must. If you don't then you'll probably find it a little less than a 5-star book.

There are tons of books out there on technical analysis and even fewer, if any, that can explain it well and show you how to put it into practice. An added bonus is that the tools you learn how to use will save you time and that's something I know I appreciate.

I'm a novice in the world of trading, and I've read numerous books on the subject over the past year. I recently purchased Mr. Knight's book, Chart Your Way to Profits and found it to be completely invaluable. In fact, when combined with the Prophetcharts platform which it was designed, I consider it the "Holy Bible of Charting". I attribute my recent success in the markets to what I have learned from Mr. Knight's book, and his Slope of Hope website. I give it my highest rating, 5 Stars and highly recommend it to anyone who wants to get serious about technical analysis and making money in the market.

I was trading using the O'Neil CANSLIM method. Found Tim's Knights site online and decided to read his book. The book is easy to read with many, many examples to enforce the lessons. ALthough there are intructional parts for the Prophet software, these areas were easily recognized and skipped if not using Prophet. I use Telecharts and everything taught in the book translated to this software.

By using suport and resistance lines I have been able to trade in te bear market, when the CANSLIM method is not recomended. Highly recomend this book

Technical analysis can be arcane and confusing, but this book provides a well written and well organized treatment of the subject. I own many books on technical analysis, and this is the most direct and understandable of any that I have read (or attempted to read). Probably better suited for the beginner to intermediate investor wanting to better understand the field than the advanced technician. The book is very applied but has enough theory to provide context.

While it is accurate that the author cites examples using web sites that he has an affiliation with, the concepts are readily transferable to any number of technical analysis web sites or software programs--they all have most of the same functionality. Besides, the meat of the book concerns describing and interpreting chart patterns. Highly recommend...the author is incredibly knowledgeable and able to communicate that knowledge.

Tim Knight's book most of all helped me see the bigger picture of technical anaylsis. Patterns developing not just over months but sometimes years. Looking at charts in multiple time frames. And, of course, making the most of my use of Prophet Charts.

This is an excellent book for stock traders interested in technical analysis. Tim Knight starts off with a basic explanation of the psychological reasons why markets turn when they do and proceeds into explanations of trendlines, common patterns, fibonacci levels and fibonacci fans.

It's a must for traders using the Prophet charting platform, but the principles will be useful for anyone using charting software online. Also, the book starts at a very basic level, and new traders can easily follow it. More experienced traders will definitely find some useful techniques later on in the book.

The book also devotes a good deal of detail to the fibonacci fans, which are not widely discussed elsewhere, but are extremely useful in technical analysis and provide a great way to gain an edge on the rest of the trading community.

This book is about a charting system for the stock market. It not only tells about the authors charting program developed by the author but also how technical analysis is a very strong way to make money in the market no matter which way the market is going. Tim's ability to make the book an easy and fun read is evident because he makes difficult trading methods understandable. This without question is one of the best features of this book. He does not tell you that trading is easy but that it is for people who want to put forth the effort to learn methods that have worked for many traders. It is not the only method, he explains, but technical analysis is so important to be successful. His blog proves that to me. This book is worth every penny. I highly recommend it to those who want to turn a profit in the stock market.

A little over a year ago I became interested in the Stock Market. I spent alot of time and money going to various classes and training sessions. I also purchased a few different books and cd's to become familiar with how to read and understand the market. After becoming affiliated with Think Or Swim and the platform they used for charts, I can honestly say that Chart Your Way To Profits has been the most informative and the best source for me in charting. The only disadvantage in my opinion is : most of the articles in this book is based on the use of Prophet Subscription, which not everyone is Prophet Subscriber (such as me). But in my opinion this book is considering one of the best technical analysis reference book.

I'm the type of reader who writes reviews only for books that are worth their purchase price. Chart your way to Profits lives up to its name. I highly recommend this title. Understanding why a head and shoulders pattern forms and how reliable the retractment can be for an entry to the short side has made investing in this bear market a very profitable experience. I'm beginning to understand the power of a broken trend line - by the time I've unpacked everything Tim Knight has put into this book, the purchase will have paid for itself multiple times over. Selecting this book is a safe solid choice for learning how to read chart patterns, and seeing how to trade based on those patterns.

I like this book very much , it gives me a lot insightful informations by knowing how to use his prophet charts tools and this will make me feel more confident in the stock market.

I first found Mr. Knight and this book from his blog. I suppose I should have stopped there. Truth is the book is little more than a commercial for his charting web site. To my surprise, it offers very little substance towards the teaching of Technical Analysis. It does provide lots of ways to use his charting web site, which is subscription only. Alas, not much to say other than if you want to follow Mr. Knight's trading do it for free on the blog and save your reading money for anything else.

I've been trading for a few years now. I've read various books, and taken a few trading classes. Now that I only use technical analysis when buying and selling stocks and options, Tim Knight's book has helped me greatly. CHART YOUR WAY TO PROFITS has shown me various technical formations that I was either ignorate too, or just not sure that I was viewing them correctly. Also, as a Profit charts user, this book is helpful for me setting up specific technical analysis that I want to use.

Is this book for everyone? No, but if you are a technical trader or a trader that wants to add technical analysis to your stock research, this might just be the book for you.

Tim Knight founder of Prophet charting systems is known as a good technical analyst. I bought this book hoping to gain insight into methods and strategies. All I got was a 200 page advertisement, instruction manual on how use his Prophet Charts. The detail is agonizing!

It would have been appropriate to publish this as an instruction manual, but I guess it would not have sold as well.

Mr. Knight also pushes his investment blog. This blog is sickening. Most of it is Mr. Knight telling everyone how smart he is and how rich he is.

Any criticism of the site is quickly dismissed and the reader called an idiot or worse!

While he provides analysis on his site and endless childish videos and pictures, he gives just enough info on trades to help keep the reader poor and in awe.

My Knight should write a technical book so others can begin accumulating wealth.

If you ever go on his site be careful to use proper grammar. He humiliates the less educated when they make minor errors.

I'm an active sell-side options trader and came across this book almost by accident. It is very well written and filled with lots of current examples of the most common and reliable chart patterns. I have no connection to the author or company, but I have a retail account at Thinkorswim and find the Prophet charts excellent, even as a more advanced trader.

The book should be required reading for anyone that uses Prophet charts, as the book lists lots of suggested settings which are only relevant if you use the product. Specifics aside, it is still an excellent book and much easier to read than most of the other ones out there, charting can be a very dry but important subject to study, this book is highly recommended for the beginning and intermediate technical trader.

As a reader of Tim's blog for the last few years, I finally bought his book and am glad I did. Tim's approach to Technical Analysis is simple, yet his concepts really do work. He focuses on just a few of the main TA tools and he really explains each concept in an easy-to-understand language. It was a very refreshing and engaging read after reading other books on TA which confounded me with the numerous concepts that all jumbled into each other after a while. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking to learn Technical Analysis, as well as anyone looking to expand their knowledge.

I consider Tim's book and web site (Slope of Hope) to be invaluable. It's been pivotal in helping me understand price movement. Of particular benefit to me was the chapter on Fibonacci retracements.

This is a must read book for anyone that wants to make money in the markets. Tim makes difficult topics easy to understand with his clear and often witty dialog. He not only explains the technical side but also how the charts reveal investor sentiment. Worth every penny and more.

I have been studying trading with a very good and well known trading education company and thought I had a really good handle on charting, candlesticks, price patterns, etc. Tim's book takes reading and understanding a chart to the next level. I bought the book to really hone my fibonacci skills but I've learned more just in reading, testing and charting a simple trendline than I thought was possible. This book is not cheap...but if one thing can be said...it could be priced at 10 times the price and would still be a bargain!!! Whether you are a beginning intermediate or experienced trader, you will learn from Tim's insights and years of charting experience. I highly recommend it...even if you don't use Prophet charts.

A well written book on technical analysis and the use of Prophet Charts. The author does something which many others do not, he simplifies technical study. Worth buying.

This is a good users manual for the Profit Source Software which is bundled with the Investools data service. If you don't use Profit Source then you can skim over the user parts. The author of the book is the creater of the Profit Source software. Because of that he seems very qualified in his explanations of techical analysis. I would recommend this book as an excellent introduction to technical analysis, even if you don't use Profit Charts.

In "Chart Your Way To Profits", Tim Knight takes the intricacies of Edwards & Magee technical analysis, and updates it in a conversational, user-freindly format. Hundreds of real-life chart examples are utilized, as are trading tips from a veteran individual trader. This is a book where new insights can be gleaned with multiple readings, and one you will want to keep by your computer for constant reference while analyzing stock charts, and during trading hours.
You don't have to use Prophet Charts to get great value from this book, but if you do, the book doubles as the best 400+ page user's manual you could ever ask for. And for those who don't know, the Prophet charting platform is available with certain online brokers without having to pay for it.
Definitely five stars, and highly recommended for any level trader.

This book is written primarily for use with the author's charting software (Prophet) and spends quite a bit of time highlighting it's features. When he starts to explain the chart patterns and the reasons the market created that pattern, you could be using any software. This is where the book shines.

Roughly 1/3 of the book explains Prophet Charts. Basically a manual. That part should be available online to users of the software.

Once you get past the manual, and the chart analysis begins, there is a lot of value. Tim explains chart patterns in a simple, (relatively) jargon free manner. Every topic has several examples to make it very clear. He also explains the reason the pattern came into existence in the first place, adding even more clarity to the topic. I found this part to be very useful.

I feel this book is suited to anyone who uses Prophet Charts, but that info should have been included with the software. Paying for the manual irked me a bit. I did find value in the charts, and assuaged my irritation with my increased knowledge and comfort with technical analysis. Definitely worth it, just be aware.

I bought this book in order to learn how to use the Prophet Charting Tools. The book provided an excellent and clear summary for this purpose.
Aside from this application, Knight's explanations provide very useful background for understanding how to exploit the bear side of the market, which tends to be favored by Knight. If you are uncomfortable in investing on the short side but want to learn more, this is a good place to begin.

Great and easy reading. This ones a keeper and a reread for my library

I was one of the first to read Tim's book and I have to say I have read it cover to cover 3-5 times and go back to major chapters on a daily basis. As a successful trader I use all resources possible to get an edge and Tim's book gives you the edge we all are looking for. There is decision making put on the reader to challenge them to get better at using CHARTS as a way to succssfully navigate the markets and even though we do not see the markets in the same way ...the classic style and easy read of ALL CHARTS make the book a MUST BUY !!!

If you are in the business or just starting to trade , Chart Your Way To Profits is a book that needs to be near your computer during these times where all resources are needed to be profitable. No one does charts or explains them better than Tim Knight in this book. I am looking forward to many more from this great talent.

This is total rubbish and contains nothing of value at all. The book brings no new insights and you are better of serching internet resources for information than reading this book.

Unless you are a subsriber to the author's charting website, please give this a pass. For those who want to learn TA, there are plenty of better alternatives, say "High Probability by Marcel Link", "Trend following by Michael Covel" and so on.

I'm a daily reader of Tim Knight's blog. His book begins - as an explanation of how Prophet Charting works - but then it becomes more of a resource book on the technicals of Charting - actually it is also a guide to his Blog - to understanding Technical Analysis. I have read the book cover to cover and now it's near my computer - to support concepts displayed by both Tim and other technicians who are reading the road ahead. Excellent

I've been using this as a reference to confirm, or decipher, a range of technical analysis methods. The book is a solid reference. It coveres a full range of analytical formula's. This belongs in any good reference library on the subject.

This book covers a lot of technical territory; yet,it is written in an enjoyable conversational style that makes it a standout among reference books and painless to read. Many of the "whys" for chart patterns are covered, helping to bolster intuitive interpretation of price movements. This is a must read for anyone that has access to Java charts or Prophet charts, but anyone that uses interactive charting (complimentary from most brokers and many free websites) would benefit exponentially. I highly recommend it to anyone that wants to try to enter and exit trades at the most opportune times.

The book is a quick read and offers a lot of insight into what forces are behind stock price movement, and the various technical approaches to understand where the stock may go next.

Being a new Investools PHD Student I find this book extermly helpfull to unleashing the powers of Prophet Charts. I highly recommend this to any new student.
