Your First Year in Network Marketing: Overcome Your Fears, Experience Success, and Achieve Your Dreams!

How to Keep the Dream Alive!
Network marketing is one of the fastest-growing career opportunities in the United States. Millions of people just like you have abandoned dead-end jobs for the chance to achieve the dream of growing their own businesses. What many of them find, however, is that the first year in network marketing is often the most challenging—and, for some, the most discouraging.
Here, Mark Yarnell and Rene Reid Yarnell, two of the industry's most respected and successful professionals, offer you strategies on how to overcome those first-year obstacles and position yourself for lifelong success. The Yarnells provide you with a wealth of savvy advice on everything you need to know to succeed in network marketing, such as proven systems for recruiting, training, growing and supporting your downline, and much more.
In an easy, step-by-step approach, you will learn how to:
·Deal with rejection
·Recruit and train
·Avoid overmanaging your downline
·Remain focused
·Stay enthusiastic
·Avoid unrealistic expectations
·Conduct those in-home meetings
·Ease out of another profession
You owe it to yourself to read this inspiring book!
"This will be the Bible of Network Marketing."
— Doug Wead, former special assistant to the president, the Bush Administration
To listen to its proponents, network (or multilevel) marketing is the greatest thing since sliced bread: top performers earn $1 million a month, reside in alluring places like Aspen and Kauai, and still find quality time to happily raise children and lovingly cement spousal relationships. Contending that those who fail to make it that far are ill prepared for the initial challenges they face, Mark Yarnell and Rene Reid Yarnell--married network marketers who are among the industry's leaders, as well as members of a University of Illinois faculty that teaches the only college-certified course on the subject in the U.S.--have written Your First Year in Network Marketing: Overcome Your Fears, Experience Success, and Achieve Your Dreams! to convey both advice and inspiration to newcomers. Peppered with personal anecdotes that bring their recommendations to life, the two offer logical strategies for overcoming rookie obstacles and kick starting a career. Individual chapters explore issues such as battling rejection, avoiding depression, handling prospects, supervising recruits, and managing time. Each concludes with a comprehensive summary, but save it for later reference and don't skip the preceding narrative, or you risk missing the book's considerable motivational component. --Howard Rothman

Honestly, I just can't get into this book. I am having a hard time getting past the first few pages. I personally think it is the set up of the pages to be blunt. I have read some good stuff as I have skimmed through the book and read eye-catching sections, but for me to sit down and read this book and highlight the good stuff and take notes--- yea, well it is just not happening with this one.
Information wise, what I am reading is good- This couple certainly hits both sides - the misconceptions and well as the reality of the network marketing world.
One thing I do like is the summary at the end of each chapter (one reason is becaus eit is a different font and page set so it is easier to follow) but mainly because it really does highlight the good parts of the chapter.

Happy Selling! Party On!

Excellent book for beginning network marketers. Mostly useful for avoiding the pitfalls of network marketing.

By Mark Yarnell's own admission the prospecting methods in this book are obsolete. His Holy Grail material which is very recent is recommended for effective rejection free prospecting methods.

Anyone thinking about, just got started or who happens to be thinking about getting started in this awesome industry, needs to invest in themselves and read this book. Why make the same mistakes when these 20 year veterans have already done so. All we have to do is be good students and learn from them. People make this business out to be something it's not. True we have been conditioned to have a boss and sit behind a desk but it doesn't have to be that way. The Yarnells can show you how to take back your life and be glad you did. There is no second chance.

This book gives you the down-low on what to expect in network marketing without making you feel like you don't even want to try. It is very informative and gives lots of real-life examples which ring true to my experiences with network marketing. It is a good balance of realism and optimism; all done with honesty and integrity. Any new network marketer, and even some experienced ones who are struggling, should read this book.

There are many books like this out there with the methods are out of date. Most successful network marketers build their fortune on the backs of others. There are some new twists on old approaches, the problem with most network marketing, MLM, multilevel marketing methods is the company's business model drives the behavior in the field and turns people into pushy, aggressive sales people, which causes huge failure in the industry.

I really enjoyed it and learned so much useful information while reading this amazing book. I only wish that I bought this book 18 months ago when I started with this wonderful MLM company I belong to. The insights of this industry are fully explained in this book along with stories that people in their organization have lived and learned through. Not only is the information useful and ready to be applied to your business but the inspiring stories are true examples that this industry works for those who work it. I absolutely recommend this book to anyone who is starting out in a MLM company and for anyone who is a veteran in MLM. I have recommended this book to my organization and everyone loves this book, too.

Mark is a great guy. I talked briefly with him years ago. He was helpful, funny and to the point. He's a bulldog of a recruiter.
There's a lot of wisdom in "Your First Year.........." you should read it.
But you'll need more than a book by an industry icon to get going Your First Year..., you'll need a mentor, a team and a "proven" system. You can't do it alone, no kidding, I've wasted years trying. Skype me: mrkimb I'll give you a free ebook that will save you years of failure and frustration. Don't worry I won't try to recruit you away from your company. Promise.

I highly recommend this book to anyone getting started in network marketing. It gives a great overview of how to start your business. It also gives you a plan to follow to achieve success. As someone who didn't know anything about network marketing really, it offers a wealth of important information. It also gives you a plan to follow to achieve success. I found the benchmarks for action steps helpful in setting my own goals, for example, the authors state that any less than 5-10 prospect contacts per day (part time) is not doing what it takes to succeed in this business. It may seem simple, but I found it really helpful. I wish I would have read it before I got started, but better late than never! I will definitely recommend it to everyone I sponsor!

As is commonly said, the fastest way to achieving what you want is to follow the path of those who have been there and done that. This book lays out how the business should be pursued - by the author who walks the talk. Learning the concepts/strategies and putting them into practice will be the fastest way to success in the network marketing industry. I also recommend "The Greatest Networker in the World" and its sequel "Conversations with the Greatest Networker in the World" by John Milton Fogg.

I have been in network marketing for over ten years, failing miserably. I tried this company and that company. Wasn't going anywhere untill I bought this book and used it.

This book should be called "How To Become Brilliant on the basics" and subtitled "How To Unleash Your Potential in MLM." It sure did for me.

Before reading "Your First Year in Network Marketing", I thought I would be lucky to get 100 people on my list. After reading what Mark said, I easily came up with a list of over 2,000 and the bst part is that those 2,000 know 2,000 who know 2,000 who know 2,000 and so on. I think it is true that if you know three people, you know everybodyelse in the world.

The affirmations were great and got me thinking bigger. The scripts were a great start, although I have midified them since then.

Overall a great book by Mark. I wonder how many other failed network marketers would do well if only they read (and applied) this wisdom?

I disagree with the reviewer who claims to be a 6 figure income earner in network marketing and disagrees with Mark Yarnell's warm approach to prospecting. I agree that warm leads should not be your only source, but it should always be your first choice.

The great Larry Thompson, responsible for creating more millionaires in network marketing than anybodyelse in history used to tell a story called "The Gold-Mine Story." Without going through the whole story, Larry tells us in his story that a lucky man has found a Gold-Mine but needs people to help him mine the gold. Larry says: "The guy needs help. Where he is going to get help? Run an ad? Pass out flyers? Go cold calling in malls? Put business cards on car windows? No he is going to go to his warm market."

The real problem with network marketing is that they do not develop the deadly serious "Gold-Mine" attitude so they don't want to approach their friends.

Another top trainer, Dale Calvert says; "Don't worry about them saying no to you, worry about them saying yes to someboy else." Calvert created a network marketing organization of more than 60,000.

Mark Yarnell is obviously not the only expert suggesting that you use your warm list. Isn't it funny how the arm-chair experts have all the answers, yet it's the Mark Yarnell's who write best selling books and get the results?

Besides Mark, I recommend any tape program by Dale Calvert or Larry Thompson that you can get your hands on. Thompson was probably the primary marketing force behind Herbalife in the 80s and their great comeback in the early 90s.

When I fist contacted Mark about this book he told me in his own words not to buy this book because it was outdated - that's why I said it "WAS" great.

However, he has a much newer book that is a MUST have that replaces the first called, "Your BEST Year In Network Marketing" and I promise you this book is everything "Your FIRST year..." was and more!

If you just can't resist get this book, but also get, "Your BEST Year In Network Marketing"

I hope this helps someone!

"Your First Year In Network Marketing" is a book about surviving your first year in Network Marketing. However, given the book's title, I expected this book to be a how-to guide about network marketing skills. Not so... this book is all about the mistakes network marketers make. Really the title should be, "What Not To Do In Network Marketing".

I also did not enjoy the format of this book. It's dimensions are too large and the column format is annoying. Apparently the authors didn't read, "What Not To Do When Writing A Book".

However the book still has some strong points. The advice is logical and useful, even if it takes forever to get to it. I really liked the summaries that they gave at the end of each chapter. You would be better off ripping these out of the book and just reading those pages.

If you are new to network marketing, this might be a good book for you. Again, it mostly focuses on what not to do, so if you don't already know, you will be left thinking, "So what DO I do?" 3 out of 5 stars.

I can't thank Mark Yarnell enough for writing this book - even if it was written 8 years ago. It really is timeless! I have been in MLM for just two months and have been reading and soaking up anything I can get my hands on. Still, I was filled with far more questions than I was ever getting answered. For instance, how do I really build a SUCCESSFUL downline that won't spook and quit so easily? How do I possibly "manage" a large downline while only working part-time? How can I create depth to my downline? What is the best way to introduce my company to prospects? How can I conduct an effective opportunity and training meeting? And a million others questions that simply ask "how I can do it right the first time?" I don't mind learning from my mistakes, but why should I waste my time making them just so I can learn from them? This book has fast forwarded me months (if not years) into my future. Finally, I have the answers I have been searching for. I am so inspired, and based on all that I have experienced so far about MLM I am certain I am pointed in the best (and most profitable) direction. LOVE THIS BOOK 1,000%. I will strongly recommend it to my downline.

This book really is a do's and dont's guide to networking. Mark has covered everything from networking friends and family to meeting and greeting business execs. A must read for anyone looking to build their client base or simply improve communication skills.

I followed the directions in the manual that said that if you weren't successful in it in the first year you should try something else.

Well, I worked at it for about 9 months and no success. This MLM strategy is very well thought out and good for people who want to push products. I'm more of a service kind of guy. This is probably why I didn't do so well in it.

MLM is not bad business, nor is it evil. Just think of it as a convenient store with many business partners. That's all it is. The better business people are more successful. That's it.

Mark and Renee Yarnell created this book based on their years of experience and astounding success in MLM. Their network is world famous and comprises sales in the millions of dollars per year. Quite simply, the Yarnell's represent everything we dream of when getting involved in network marketing.

This book presents an in-depth look at the major areas of concern for the new distributor: sales, recruiting, training, goal setting, and of course, succeeding. Network marketing is not about taking advantage of people. You won't succeed like that. Networking for success is about helping other people achieve their goals. Along the way, you also have your dreams realized. According to the Yarnells, success is a matter of perseverance and integrity.

This book is well written and will inspire you to take action to realize your dreams. It is now about six years old, but the ideas and principles remain valid today.
