Loved it. Totally typical and hilarious Kevin Nealon. Every line I read, I could see his face...and I would have to chuckel. Great comedy. Highly recommended.

Enjoyed this book thoroughly. If the baby benefits from laughter, it must be doing great!

My husband and I are expecting our first baby in December. When we saw the cover of this book we giggled. I ordered it from Amazon as soon as it was released and gave it to my husband. From the first page to the last, he laughed and laughed. So much that I would get somewhat annoyed;) However, this book was a great tool for him to see that I'm not the only pregnant woman on the planet that is a bit crazy. Also, Kevin talked about all the changes that would occur as well as the items one needs to purchase for a baby. I had been telling my husband how expensive strollers were (well, at least the one that I am going to buy) and he would have nothing to do with the conversation. Once he read the section on strollers he said "you know, you are right, strollers are like cars for babies!" We discussed strollers on a more rational level and now we both cannot help but check out all the strollers at the park and compare them.
Moms-to-be: buy this for your mate. Yeah, it may be sarcastic. And Yeah, it's not as technical as What to Expect...but I don't know very many men that want to read traditional birthing books. This book was a great preparation book and it opened up many conversations between the two of us. I sat down and read the book in one sitting and laughed until my stomach hurt-which I know the baby loved. I hope Kevin writes a book about toddlers. To be fair, I only read the first couple of chapters. That's because it wasn't funny, and was not written very well. I know he's a funny comedian, but he should stick to that, or have help writing. Honestly, from what I read, the cover, and the title, where the funniest part of the book (yes, I didn't read the whole thing)
SO...I hope the remainder of the book does get better. It's a fun concept for a book. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-07-17 22:17:39 EST)

This was pretty darn funny. My only beef is that there were times when I wish he would be serious for just ONE moment, you know? (and in all fairness, there actually WERE a few, but they would last for one sentence or so. Reminded me of a guy I went to college with who was literally NEVER serious; people like that are hiding from something. Now, I know Nealon is a COMEDIAN, so my beef is sort of dumb). Overall, it was really funny.

I would recommend this book to anyone who has or will be having children! It really does give you heads up on what is important to you before and after children come into our lifes. This book will have you laughing out loud til your in tears. It reminds you as a parent how children are the most important part of our lives and they should not be taken advantage of. All they want is you in there life til they reach that age where there friends kick in and you wonder where it all went. You get to live again through their eye just for alittle while. Keep them close and you will miss out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!GET THIS BOOK

(from the review at gametheorist.blogspot.com) I used to watch Nealon on Saturday Night Live and I think he occasionally pops up in movies. But I chose this book primarily because I was sitting at the next table to him in an LA airport lounge last year and he looked pretty much like the picture on the front of his book. Interestingly, he had bought a Sony eBook reader just as the Kindle had come out and I was puzzled about this. Maybe it was for the flight only to discover he was going to need a computer to get at those books.
His book is about his experience in pregnancy -- not his really but his wife's. He is 53 and so is older than the average parent and also, his celebrity lifestyle defined much of what he was going through. There was lots of angst about having children and feelings about life in general which gave him an excuse to recount previous non-parenting incidents with random abandon. It had its moments but there was not alot that I found easy to relate to. Nonetheless, I suspect that if you are pregnant (or close to one who is) this would be a good read. I knew when I purchased this book it would be a roller coaster of sorts for me as I'm a father of two and went through many of the feelings and emotions that Kevin wrote about in this book... I highly recommend this book for people with a twisted and comic view of life !!

Kevin Nealon wrote a very good very funny book for 1st time expecting dads. I highly recomend this book for all dads, wether you are expecting your first child this book will keep you laughing (and scared) while actually giving decent tips on what to do or how to handle a pregnant wife, If you already have kids this book will bring back some memories for sure, both good and bad, with a few " I wish I'd thought of that " moments thrown in.
By the way, my pregnant wife loved the book too. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-07-03 01:24:14 EST)

Nealon was always one of my favorites on SNL...(and now Weeds). He's always come across as one of those guys who loves what he's doing (unlike those comedian dips who do it only to feed their egos). That said, I didn't hestitate much when it came time to peel out the Mastercard for this one. I'm 29 years-old with no wife or kids, but this book still had me chuckling throughout. And if you're a late bloomer like him (and I), you'll be laughing out loud. He also really does a good job with translating his dry sense of humor to the pages.
