Amazon Exclusive: Dr. Mehmet Oz Reviews Who's Got Your Back
Mehmet C. Oz, MD, is the author (with Michael F. Roizen) of such New York Times bestselling books as YOU: The Owner's Manual, YOU: Staying Young, YOU: Being Beautiful, and YOU: On a Diet, and the health expert of The Oprah Winfrey Show. He is professor and vice-chairman of surgery at New York Presbyterian Columbia University and the medical director of the Integrated Medicine Center and the director of the Heart Institute. Read his exclusive Amazon guest review of Who's Got Your Back: So many of us are caught in a constant tug-of-war between work and wellness. Keith Ferrazzi’s Who’s Got Your Back offers a strategy to execute on your most ambitious plans without costing your happiness, well-being, or sanity--in fact his program promises to enhance them by building deeper, more supportive relationships. Ferrazzi offers a nine-step approach to building what he calls “lifeline relationships,” an inner circle of deep, trusting peer support partners who serve as advisors, cheerleaders, and accountability watchdogs. These are more than colleagues, more than friends--they are true, caring comrades in arms who respect you enough to tell you like it is. The gem of this program is that Keith pays attention to the mechanisms that have been proven to make change stick--a striking difference between most self-help programs and Ferrazzi’s signature “let others help.” What’s more, with Who’s Got Your Back you’ll create relationships that are meaningful well beyond your shared success--a rare and welcome gift in the world of professional development. |

Keith's first book, "Never Eat Alone" focused on networking. I heard Keith speak in Atlanta, and he stated that even beyond being well-networked, each of us needs a personal Board of Directors in order to be successful. This group will help you succeed by giving you candid, honest and caring feedback as well as holding you accountable. Keith is a wonderful resource; this book challenges each of us to become vulnerable in order to grow. It is an ambitious and challenging program.

Once again Keith Ferrazzi reveals the value and importance of cultivating genuine relationships in order to realize success at your business and life. I read this book during a difficult period of my life and the insights and wisdom that the author provided, especially on being vulnerable helped me reach out to my network during my time of need with a clarity and honesty that showed me just how much I am valued by that community, and made me want to give back even more. That's the real gift of Mr. Ferrazzi's work: He shows you the value of helping others and being generous. I recommend this book for anyone who wants to cultivate better relationships.

Having lived, breathed and taught networking for over twenty-five years, I was thrilled to find this book! Relationship building is the heart of networking! This author stresses that belief and illustrates how all successful people have a few people who have their back. Everyone can do this and this book is the guide for making it happen.

Much more than a self help book, author Keith Ferrazzi claims "Who's Got Your Back" is "the world's very first let others help you" book. According to this book, the real path to your success is not by going at it alone but rather by creating inner relationships with only a few trusted key individuals who won't let you fail, no matter what. Those who will offer encouragement, support, feedback, and more to help you achieve any small or major goal you have; those "who have your back." Upon finishing this book, I have realized that it is not enough to just read this book, but you must practice the actual principles in order to become more successful in life, in relationships, and business. This book teaches such principles like intimacy, candor, vulnerability, generosity, accountability and much more. Such chapters include how to find your "dream team" and how to make them work for you as well as how to stay the right course to achieve your chosen goals. I am looking forward to seeing Keith Ferrazzi in person, when he visits Cleveland Ohio September 10th 2009 at the Quicken Loans Arena from 6-8pm. It is a free event, so I will be sure to register on his website ahead of time. This book is so powerful and special that it should not be taken lightly; definite actions need to be taken when you have finished reading this book... What are you waiting for? Go build your dream team, and allow others help you!

Keith wrote the very enjoyable. Never Eat Alone. Now he comes up with an even better book that is relevant to us all who try to be authentic in every way.
I knew he was on top of things when he quoted an exchange at one of his Greenlight Group meetings. " I really do not think my sales group is up to snuff. " "Yes? So what is your marketing group saying? " "What does that have to do with it? I am having trouble with my sales. " "Well, it usually comes back to what marketing is saying." Had to love the guy right off the bat! He has four mindsets that you need in order to proceed: * generosity * vulnerability * candor * accountability. The tenets he lays out for high performance relationships and companies have somethings in common with The Rockefeller Habits, but this book goes much further. You need: * a vision cw an exit strategy * commitment * comprehension * chemistry & curiosity * diversity On top of the wonderful stuff in the book there is a host of supporting info on his website and blog: [...] I especially liked his chapter on what this means for team based sales. It is extremely relevant in todays' selling environment. Read it on the website [...] Buy this one and read it a few times. Get one for your children Well written and clear, I found it hard to put down. (Review Data Last Updated: 2009-09-24 08:24:10 EST)

An especially interesting read from a viewpoint of evolution from Keith Ferrazzi's last book ("Never Eat Alone") in which he makes a strong case for building and actively maintaining relationships as a driver of success in your professional and personal lives. Whereas the first book focused on "building out your network", the author now finds himself arguing for deeper and more engaged relationships: "the inner circle". The four themes of intimacy, generosity, vulnerability and candor are continued from "Never Eat Alone", but the emphasis is placed on accountability and the mechanics of maintain the "inner circle".
As with the last book, I did not agree with the author on every point, but still very much enjoyed the read. The book strikes a nice balance between the motivation and the tactical details on how to get started. I've put several of authors' suggestions into practice and I am already enjoying their results. Great book. (Review Data Last Updated: 2009-09-24 08:24:10 EST)

Following on the heels of the spectacularly successful and useful "Never Eat Alone," Keith Ferrazzi has put out what he has called during his tour "the book I should have written first."
Maybe it is, maybe it isn't, but the editorial finesse of Tal Raz is missing, and, frankly, if I hear one more story about his other-side-of-the-tracks working class background in Latrobe I think I just might scream. Get over yourself, Keith. You've made it. Move on and let's get some business done. The concept, however, is good, and well executed, even if in too many words. Some of the fundamental approaches to assembling a 'personal board of directors' have been discussed elsewhere and better, but Ferrazzi does pull together several of these varying approaches. The additional workbooks available on Ferrazzi's web site make the ideas come alive, and the properly motivated reader can get right to work implementing the ideas. But the middle third of the book is dreadfully slow and tedious, and it is nowhere near the breezy read "Never Eat Alone" is. (Review Data Last Updated: 2009-09-24 08:24:10 EST)

I recently came across the book written by Keith Ferrazzi called Who's Got Your Back: The Breakthrough Program To Build Deep, Trusting Relationships That Create Success -- And Won't Let You Fail, that I really found interesting and hopefully consistent with the principles I have always tried to run my business on. The premise is based upon what he calls a new reality that relationships are the key to success in business. From my perspective, this is something I have adopted for the 28 years of my career. Who's Got Your Back teaches anyone, from people in the job market to CEOs, that quickly building the kinds of relationships that really make a difference is the key to success and purpose.
This book touches home for me. I can honestly say more than all the money I have made, the success I have had in making life long close relationships and helping people to get a little further ahead is by far the most meaningful thing in my life. I suggest you read these vows and questions a few times and see if you can apply them to your life and professional career. (Review Data Last Updated: 2009-08-06 02:12:09 EST)

This is a totally different book than Never Eat Alone. If you loved that one, you won't necessarily like this one and vice versa.
I have to say I lucked into this book because Keith had become a networking guru after writing Never Eat Alone. I had garnered the success I had to date due to my networking, ability to meet new people, and also build relationships with people whom I previously had none, and an ability to keep in touch with people over time. However, I have felt despite my success and knowing so many people it has been a pretty rare occasion when I could bare my soul and show even my most trusted friends my deepest darkest secrets and fears that have been holding me back from achieving my goals and achieving my goals faster. The concepts in Keith's newest book are not rocket science...especially the 4 mindsets: candor, vulnerability, generosity, and accountability. But, after Keith breaks each concept down in detail it is amazing how rarely we practice all 4 openly and honestly with even our closest friends or advisors. So, besides sharing concepts, Keith gives practical advice on: *Goal Setting *Diagnosing Your Weaknesses *How to start conversations that will create the safe environment for such relationships *What to do to determine if someone is a potential lifeline for you *How to start a support group *How to run a support group (in detail) *How to bring these into the workplace Also, Keith practices what he preaches and bares his own soul in this book demonstrating the vulnerability. Without which it would have been difficult for me to share many of the fears and insecurities that I've needed to address but have been too afraid to share for fear of coming off as weak. Also, I've realized that due to this I also need help from my "lifelines" to hold me accountable since I am trying to tackle so many ambitious goals in my life. I have bought 3 copies for friends and I have already started having deeper relationships after practicing many of the concepts in this book (Review Data Last Updated: 2009-07-18 00:31:01 EST)

Ferrazzi started with a Big Idea: develop a group to give you candid counsel. And, buried in this book, is that big idea, but it really got lost amid the hundreds of interesting and provocative ideas he talks about on the way there: mortality salience(the fear of death that we project on uncomfortable events, such as meeting a quota) and how it effects us; the pointlessness of exit interviews and 360 reviews(he nails it);the self-serving bias(if we win, it is because we are brillant and if we lose, it is because we got a bad break; if others win, it is because they got lucky and if they lose, well it is their fault) and how that disrupts a candid conversation. Lots of good stuff, just not integrated into a cohesive whole. Still, well worth the time.

Have both read Keith's book and heard him speak. I found no new ideas presented. Keith mentions research, however, never indicates what research was done for this book. I think "Who's Got Your Back" is demonstrated by the top management of most companies with one another, however employees do not have this support. When I heard Keith speak he was impressed with the fact that the book is on the New York Times list and connected that with a need by individuals in today's society. However, I do not think he connected the dots with the fact that 100's of thousands of individuals are out of work because no was the "who's got your back" except for the top CEOs who supported fraud and deception and made sure they had each other's back--of course this would be a timely topic for this reason. I teach business students, those who have reviewed this book think it lacks reality. The "Dream Team" concept is just another name for support groups that have been around for many, many years with different types of names. So based on that I do not see anything new in this book, just written in different terms.

This book was o.k. and all in all worth reading. However to me, the good concept could have probably been conveyed fully in twenty pages or so. The concept is to form a personal board of directors/advisors, not necessarily family or friends but people you can trust to give you good and honest advice and direction, and that this group can change over time. Not an exactly new concept but a good one. The previous book, Never Eat Alone, had a similarly basic concept--the value of networking--but for me, the elaboration, illustrations and anecdotes in that book were more valuable.

I usually hate this kind of book. By page 20, the blinding insight is delivered and then the next 200 pages just repeat it. Not here. Keith draws you in quickly but then keeps deepening his points. By page 205, I was more absorbed than I was at page 20. (The profiles of various types of people whose personal glass ceilings get in their way (section 3) was priceless. I re-read it three times, then tried fitting everyone I know into one or more of them.)
Keith uses an interesting device to keep the reader engaged: he makes you complicit in his own mentoring or "lifeline" process, as he calls it. Far from lecturing, he is often, and very appealingly, an imperfect student of his own insights. Severals times I found myself saying "Keith, you are doing it again...". Just as his treasured lifeline people must do. This quirk really makes his point and lets the reader immediately relate to the value of what he suggests. I read this book at an interesting time: finding myself at a personal plateau with no obvious mentors and, as well, being asked to mentor someone whom I had no clue how to help. This book was very provocative for me on both fronts. (Review Data Last Updated: 2009-06-21 02:01:22 EST)

Great book! Very inciteful and filled with practical knowlede, most of which you can put into use immediately. Who's Got Your Back changed the way I look at teams. Our culture has always romaticized the notion of the sole individual against the world. Keith shows how and why we don't have to go it alone, in fact it's much smarter if you don't.

In "who's got your back" Keith Ferrazzi hits a nerve- even the most successful people in business have to admit - we have friends and family who love us but they don't understand our business - and we have business relationships that we often keep at arm's length. Keith provides an alternative - opening up and creating "instant intimacy." You may first recoil at the notion, but read on. He makes a powerful point - that when we open up, and ask people we trust and respect for candor and clarity, we win. If we don't we'll miss out on the opportunity to grow and achieve a far greater level of success. As an executive coach I will recommend this to clients and friends. A compelling read. I'm a 21 year old college graduate who just entered into corporate America. I was an avid fan of Keith's first book, Never Eat Alone and used it to build strong relationships during my college years, most especially in my internships and co-ops that helped land me a job in one of the worst economies to date. I found Keith's shared wisdom to be 100% on point and effective.
I purchased Who's Got Your Back the day it was released and can't say enough about it. While it is a very different avenue than NEA, WGYB has truly helped me to take my relationship building to the next level in using accountability, generosity, candor, and vulnerability to reach various fitness goals, financial goals, and personal happiness initiatives. Keith's book is more than just finding the few people who will help drive your life, but more importantly how to create relationships in your life that will not let you fail, push you to achieve more than you ever could on your own, and essentially become a much better person. Enjoy, and check out the greenlightcommunity.com to find people like yourself who are looking to improve their lives! (Review Data Last Updated: 2009-06-15 15:34:23 EST)

Having read "Never Eat Alone" it was hard for me to believe there was another book to be made about creating business relationships. I was dead wrong. I devoured this book over the course of a weekend gaining insights in every chapter. Time and again throughout the book, I saw myself in Mr. Ferrazzi's stories and examples. Having just started a new consultancy, WGYB has given me an enormous gift to start this journey. By asking for help when I need it and truly searching for those mentors/business associates that will be true "partners", my relationships will be stronger and, ultimately, my business will benefit.
Thank you Keith for your many words of wisdom! (Review Data Last Updated: 2009-06-15 15:34:23 EST)

I read Keith's first book Never Eat Alone and thought it to be a good refresher on all the things we know we should be doing to build relationships. Of particularly importance and the main take away was approaching them from the standpoint of how you can help someone else first, not how they can help you. His new book, Who's Got Our Back however, I found to be just plain pablum. There are no real new ideas here, no lighting bolts of brilliance. It's good stuff for someone just out of college entering the working world. If you've been around the block, the book is a waste of time.

Another gem from Keith Ferrazzi. In his followup to "Never Eat Alone," another must read, Ferrazzi emphasizes the importance of building strong and mutually beneficial relationships. This book is an absolute must for anyone desiring to succeed in any field. Ferrazzi's concepts are put forth in a style that is simple to understand and provides the reader with the ability to easily implement them in their own lives. In this difficult climate, one could greatly benefit from following the advice Ferrazzi gives in his books.

The book is a stunning affirmation of the fact that you can't get there alone. In "who's got your back" Keith Ferrazzi articulates a clear process for each of us to follow in getting the most out of those key people who can help us become all that we were created to be. I do this with my clients as I have done for myself and this book will make it that much easier to coach them!

This is the second book from Keith Ferrazzi and where Never Eat Alone provided a road map for building a strong network of meaningful and sustaining relationships, Who's Got Your Back takes you into the realm of relationships that can raise you to new heights of success and significance. His perspective on creating the strong inner circle of advisors and counsel is a proven and time tested manner in which great leaders advance. From a business perspective, the earlier in your career you learn these lessons, the more likely you find a deeper satisfaction in the work you do and the path upon which you walk. I highly recommend this book.

I first read Keith Ferrazzi's "Who's Got Your Back" as an undergraduate business student two years ago. After taking the work's lessons to heart, I saw a tremendous change in the way I build long-lasting relationships with friends and colleagues. His new book goes one step deeper. It discusses how you can live a truly balanced and rewarding life by maintaining honest, trusting bonds with people who help make your life a more complete one. As a student of business poised to launch a professional career, I couldn't as for a more useful tool. A must read for young entrepreneurs and students alike!

Thank goodness for Keith Ferrazzi. His insightful wisdom is to be credited for why more people are discovering the power of authentic relationships. I read Never Eat Alone about a year and a half ago, and it changed my life. While that book covered a lot of bases and showed people practical ways of building meaningful relationships, Who's Got Your Back takes the relationship conversation deeper. Much deeper. I think with this book, Keith proves that he has tapped into the real "Secret" to successful relationships. That it's not just about WHO you know, but who is willing to share with you honestly, and to your benefit. Just as with Never Eat Alone, this book will impact you, but only if you do the steps laid out. Are we really ready to be open and vulnerable to people enough in order to find those whose honesty and sincerity can help us achieve where we cannot if we go it alone. This one is worth exploring. In this book, Keith truly has your back. Let him help you get where you want to go.

Keith Ferrazzi's passion sings in this book as he explains the philosophy and development of meaningful relationships, from intimacy, generosity, vulnerability, and candor to building a team of people around you to become more successful and ultimately happy in life. I've already applied what he has said in my life, and it has by far made an amazing impact on how I treat the people around me, and how they treat me. I recommend this book for anyone, and will be referencing it throughout my life. Thanks again keith for the relationship inspiration.

In his latest work Kieth builds on the concepts of Never Eat Alone and provides guidance on nurturing authenticity into intimacy. Leveraging concepts Napoleon Hill's Mastermind Group, Ferrazzi goes several steps further to provide methods for creating deep relationships in an increasingly shallow society. Who's Got Your Back is an excellent read for any entrepreneur looking to work with and through others for mutual success.

I've read Ferrazzi's first book "Never Eat Lunch Alone" and it helped me so much I knew his follow up would be just as enlightening - and I wasn't disappointed. The book's key points have already helped me to strengthen the bonds I have with my key partners and has encouraged me to reach out to build with new ones. But most importantly he gives you clear guidance on how to do this and how to stay connected in a way that is natural. It is how we already (I should say I) work together with others but with a clarity to that process that is already bringing me more joy and therefore profit to my business.

Having the privilege of multiple business engagements with Keith Ferrazzi and his team at Ferrazzi Greenlight Consulting, and after devouring his book Never Eat Alone and now Who's Got Your Back, I can say purchase this book now. Sit back, reflect on what you read and change your lifestyle by leveraging some of the social, personal and business concepts as outlined by Keith.
