With countless cooking tips, helpful how-to's, and sixty color photographs, Weight Watchers New Complete Cookbook is the all-in-one kitchen resource you'll turn to again and again for great ideas and inspiration.

Whether you're looking for a quick and easy weeknight dinner or something special to spice up a weekend brunch, you'll find a variety of recipes to choose from on every page, ranging from classic comfort foods to zesty international dishes.

Throughout, Weight Watchers nutrition and cooking experts offer you simple, flexible ways to achieve your weight-loss goals without giving up favorite foods.

Here's what is inside:

  • More than 500 healthy recipes, including Core Plan recipes and POINTS values for every recipe

  • Information on Weight Watchers' popular Flex Plan

  • A brand-new holiday baking chapter, with recipes from around the world

  • Handy recipe icons (for Core Plan, 20 minutes or less, spicy, and 5 POINTS values or less)

  • Complete nutrition information—including trans fats

  • Valuable tips, how-to's, substitutions, and leftover ideas

  • And much more

If you're a Weight Watcher, this collection of 500 recipes in a handy loose-leaf binder could put you in the fast lane on the road to success. This cookbook is designed for Weight Watchers' 1•2•3 Success program: points are assigned to foods based on fat, fiber, and calories, and your daily point allowance is based on your current weight. So you can eat what you want, as long as you don't go over your allotted points. The better your food choices, the more you can eat before you run out of points.

Recipes are varied and cover the whole gamut: sauces; breads; soups; meat, chicken, fish, and vegetarian entrees; pasta; vegetable, grain, and potato side dishes; and, of course, desserts. The recipes are more healthful but not drastically different from foods you and your family enjoy now. Many are familiar comfort foods, such as Pizza, Oven "Fried" Chicken, Beef Stew, Tuna Noodle Casserole, Chocolate Layer Cake, and Cheesecake. Internationally inspired favorites include Dolmades (stuffed grape leaves), Orange-Flavored Fajitas, Moo Shu Chicken, Tandoori Haddock, and Senegalese Peanut Soup. The nutritional breakdown for each recipe is more complete than in most cookbooks, and includes calories, fat, saturated fat, cholesterol, sodium, carbohydrate, fiber, protein, calcium, and Weight Watchers' points. --Joan Price

(Hide Review...)  Excellent for Foodies
Reviewer Permalink
I am addicted to the kitchen, I love to eat and I love to cook. This book is challenging enough for me to be fulfilled on both those levels. For instance... The Tandoori Marinade recipe might be a bust for some people who don't keep cardamom, turmeric, or garam masala on hand. But for a foodie who maintains an herb garden and has personal contacts to the Spice Islands for free spices, this is a no brainer winner recipe.

Don't get me wrong, there are some great easy "standards" in this book. Biscuits, Chocolate cake and vinaigrette (my 15 year old made the Raita recipe for gosh sakes). We pigged out on an Indian food meal complete with Naan, for only 11 points. I appreciated that! And so did my husband.

Do you need some skills to own this book? My answer: probably. Do you need to plan ahead to make these recipes? My answer is YES!

Although I didn't pay attention to the shipping method (I cannot receive USPS where I work) I still managed to get the product as promised thanks to a friend who works right next door. AND I got it in a very timely manner. I will definitely use this seller again!!

(Hide Review...)  A great book of healthy recipes
Reviewer Permalink
Whether or not you're doing Weight Watchers, whether or not you're even on a diet, this book is an excellent addition to any cook's library. The variety of recipes within is excellent, from elaborate to simple, for both carnivores and vegetarians, all prepared using healthy ingredients and methods.

From a purely practical standpoint, this is an easy cookbook to use. The pages are durable enough to withstand a bit of splatter and splash (why yes, I am a messy cook, thanks for asking!), and they are bound separately so that the book can be opened flat on the countertop to the page you want to see, or even removed completely to be put back later.

The book is nicely organized into categories so that if you have only a general idea of what you want or what's available in the fridge, you can find recipes that fit easily. Ingredients and instructions are laid out nicely on each page, with nutrition information if you need it. For those who are doing the Weight Watchers Flex plan, the Points value per serving for each recipe is also clearly marked. Basics such as pizza dough and pie crust are included, as well as more elaborate and complete meals.

Since I've gotten this cookbook, it's become my go-to source for ideas and good food. I've tried many recipes from it so far, ranging from Chicken Hash to Spinach and Cheese Quiche, and so far I have not been disappointed. If you're trying to eat healthy, there's lots of excellent and tasty choices here. If you're just looking for some inspiration, don't let the WW logo on the cover scare you off...there's lots of good stuff in here for everyone!

Off to get ready for dinner... tonight, Vegetable Fried Rice! Can't wait!

(Hide Review...)  Great for Flex, weak for Core
Reviewer Permalink
I don't know why Weight Watchers doesn't have a Core-specific cookbook, but that's really disappointing. One of the reasons I'm interested in Weight Watchers in the first place is I don't know how to cook, and was hoping for good help in that department. The Core recipes are well marked and quick to find, but of the 500 recipies there are probably 200 that can be eaten on the Core plan max, if that many.

(Hide Review...)  Great little cookbook for those not wanting to shell out $ for WW
Reviewer Permalink
As someone who had a great success with Weight Watchers in the past, I didn't want to pay the weekly/monthly fee to get back on track with my eating. This was a great alternative- it's great even if you don't want to go on WW but want to carry on a healthy diet. I've only tried a few recipes, but so far they're great. Good alternative ingredients. The only downside is what other people said - they don't tell you what a portion is (but you can figure it out with most of them).

Great cookbook with easy, flavorful healthy recipes. Lots of good tips throughout for how to lighten up your favorite sauces and dressings. Not every single recipe is a winner though but every cookbook has a few duds.

I joined weight watchers on Jan 2 and have lost 30 pounds. Since my husband didn't need to loose weight but I had to cook, this was the next best thing. He loves most all the meals in this book and you can not tell it's healthy. You just have to watch the portion sizes you eat. But it is wonderful. I bought one for myself and two more for my friend and brother.
The stuffed cicilian sausage pizza is to die for.

I love this cookbook and have already made a few of the recipes for dinner. They have a good variety of chicken dinners. Also, I like being able to browse recipes and know ahead of preparing how many points it's going to cost me. I've turned some neighbors on to it and they have said it's a good cookbook, too. The only downside, so far, is I find the appetizers to be disappointing. I haven't made any of those because they didn't seem appetizing.

Weight Watchers gets old after a while. This book has awesome, low-point recipes that come in a nice thick binder, like an actual recipe book. You could take out the pages, bring them to the grocery store with you, and be on your way! Great book, very little higher-point items--shows you how to make your favorite dishes lo-points. Great stuff!

I was excited to receive this cookbook convinced that it would help me cook for my family now that I'm a "weight watcher". Sadly I was very disappointed. I'm no gourmet chef. I have basic ingredients on hand and I can't afford to buy expensive fresh herbs and exotic foods. So needless to say, the extraordinary number of recipes containing such ingredients in this cookbook left me with very few recipes that I could actually use. The few recipes I have managed to find all the ingredients for have turned out less than perfectly appetizing. Frankly I think this cookbook is more for rich people who live in big cities within walking distance of fresh food markets, not for suburban moms.

Reviewer Permalink
I give this book 3 stars because I have to buy something special for almost every recipe! While I love the recipes and love even more that everything is easy to read, cook and calculate, I don't love that most use fresh herbs (which can be expensive and difficult to store for long periods of time) and exotic ingredients. I'm sure this enhances the flavor of the food and makes it more satisfying but give me something more practical to cook, Weight Watchers! I do, however, really like all the pictures!

I was a little disappointed in this recipe book. The recipies require so many ingredients that I never seem to have in the house -- not common household spices. So no matter what I make, it requires a shopping trip to town to get everything. Also, most of the recipies take extensive preparation time. However, the recipies I have tried are good.

First off I want to say that I absolutely love that they tell you the points for each serving of the meal as well as calories, fat, sodium, etc. I'm following the weight watchers diet, while my husband has his own system going, so having all the info is awesome. :)
I've had this recipe book for a couple of months now, and lately I've been using it almost daily for suppers. Some of the foods are absolutely awesome! The Mulligatawny (no idea if i spelled that right) is amazing, Southern "Fried" Chicken great for any day, and the Cabbage Apple soup is great. There's also been some real nasty stuff that's come out of the book too (do NOT try the artichoke chicken packets, they are just plain nasty).
So basically the book is very convenient for people following weight watchers or just trying to eat better in general, and I would highly recommend it to others. :)

I requested this cookbook as a Christmas present. I received it and wanted to immediately use it, so I sat down with it for a review of the recipes. I was VERY disappointed that there were no recipes for anything I would "normally" make. I expected there to be healthy versions of "comfort foods" and I expected points values for those things I eat most (that are still relatively healthy for you). Too bad there aren't "normal" recipes in there. Anyone want my copy? I won't be using it. I gave it 3 stars because I figure it could be useful to SOMEONE, just not me.

(Hide Review...)  Tasteless and Complicated Recipes!
Reviewer Permalink
I LOVE to cook, I LOVE to experiment with unusual recipies, and I was so excited to get this cookbook. But after making about 15 recipes I have to admit: I don't love it. Out of everything I made, about half turned out tasteless or gross. Eating healthy doesn't have to mean disgusting food, but this cookbook believes it! What's worse: You have to have the equivalent of a fully stocked produce section in you kitchen to make the meals! All the vegetables are fresh (and therefore expensive) and each recipe uses lots of different kinds. For example, the turkey meatloaf used green pepper, carrots, onions, celery, zucchini, whole wheat bread crumbs....and all prep work to clean and cut up the fresh produce is insane! The turkey meatloaf was okay, but definitely not worth all the hard work. The Cod Stew actually turned my stomach. I served the spaghetti with fresh tomato sauce to guests for dinner and was humiliated by the lack of taste (and lack of food) on the table. I took an entire afternoon to make the Whole Wheat and Mushroom Calzones from scratch (waiting 2 hours for the dough to rise, etc) and was so disappointed by the nasty taste I wanted to cry! Another problem I had with the cookbook was that it would give the point value for a serving, but not tell you how much a serving was! A cup? A pound? A little help here?!?! I'm giving this book 2 stars just for the ring binding and the possibility that there MAY be a good recipe in here that I haven't discovered! Until then, I've gone back to my trusty Better Homes and Gardens cookbook and punched the nutrition information into my Points Calculator and---VIOLA---my own yummy Weight Watcher's Cookbook that is much better than the original.
