If you're at all interested in a chronological review of 9/11 then this is the book to read. I would consider this to be the 9/11 bible. Very well written and easy to read. I highly recommend this book.

Paul Thompson has accomplished a serious timeline in this book. Though the early entries are perhaps isolated and need more context, the section which nears & covers that tragic day is complete and beyond....so many news references...if one generation had the death of JFK to mourn, and study, so we have 9/11.
This is a comprehensive news article reference for those who will study 9/11. The writing style could be better, but the research is solid.

I originally purchased this book as a reference for my dissertation. It only takes the reading of a few pages to realize that this is anything but an unbiased look at the events leading up to the tragic events of September 11, 2001. The author's obvious hatred of the Bush administration is evident after only reading a few pages and what is being touted as "scholarly research" is nothing more than a bunch of newspaper and magazine articles formed into a book. This doesn't make the work scholarly, it makes the author lazy. The author himself, in the acknowledgement section, even admits he had "volunteers" help him write portions of the book. If you really want to know what terrorism is about, without the political spin, I recommend "The Age of Sacred Terror" by Daniel Benjamin and Steven Simon or "Voices of Terror" by Walter Laqueur. "The Age of Sacred Terror" will give any real scholar of terrorism a much greater insight into the history of terrorism and how that leads to what happened on 9/11. "Voices of Terror" is a great collection of writings by the most notorious terror organizations like Al Qaeda and Hamas and this too will give great insight into the thinking of the leaders of such organizations. Both offer a more unbiased look at terrorism and its relationship to 9/11. If you are doing any type of research and you are planning to use this book---save your money.

Thompson's masterful research project has birthed a resource of immense value to those desirous of an accurate history of the 9/11 tragedy. Each bit of information is followed immediately by its source, and there are nearly 600 pages of relevant documentation in this volume. Thompson's book is, as advertised, comprehensive and thought-provoking. You will not be carrying it in your shirt pocket, but you will want to page through several sections of the book every week, in order to understand the enormity both of 9/11 and of the curious and catastrophic U.S. responses to it.

For anyone interested in performing an in-depth study of the heinous 9/11 attacks on our nation and our hearts, this book is an absolutely essential starting forum. One can easily surmise the heart-felt dedication of this author and the learning of the basic structure of evil of those who planned, financed and forced this on our country. His approach is "level with the ground" enough to meet the strictest criterion for acceptance by, let's say, the most conservative Amish farmer - and every aspect of it is verifiable by anyone with enough energy to check out his sources which are all public domain.

However, what I like most about the 'timeline' is the revelations which emerge regarding Osama Bin Laden, key players in the Pakistani Military and Intelligence, and U.S. high level government and military officials.

What emerges is the startingly well documented fact that Osama Bin Laden was surrounded in Tora Tora, not on all 4 perimeters, but only on three. The eastern front, facing Pakistan was left open. Most frightening book I've ever read - gave me a completely new feeling about my country. Wish every American could read this.

I've been aware that Bush and his pals knew the 9/11 attack was coming (see the President's Daily Brief re Bin Laden determined to strike in the U.S., for example), but this book documents beyond a reasonable doubt that Bush and the Project for the New American Century had been needing something like this attack to happen in order to get their war on with Iraq. Google PNAC and read their document called "Rebuilding America's Defenses", then go to the "Statement of Principles" and see who the signers are. It will amaze you as to how many of those signers are in the Bush administration. Paul Thompson, along with David Ray Griffin and Thierry Meyssan, uses a vast amount of evidence to expose the absolute corruption of this administration. Call them all conspiracy theorists, but then you either can believe the truth, or you can believe the conspiracy theory put forth by Bush that 19 highjackers armed with boxcutters flew jets into the World Trade Center and our military couldn't do a thing to stop them. One might wonder why six of the alleged hijackers are still alive . . . Read the book. Get the truth. The 9/11 Commission's report was a complete whitewash.

This extraordinary compilation of honest objective research goes as far as any human team can go. Paul Thompson and the Center for Cooperative Research are national--nay, global--treasures.

The timeline is most useful if read in conjunction with David Griffin's two books, "The New Pearl Harbor" and also "The 9/11 Commission Report: Omissions and Distortions."

Here are the two bottom lines:

1) There is, beyond reasonable doubt, a case to be made that elements of the U.S. Government were actively complicit with the terrorists, with the Bush family security company controlling the World Trade Center, with certain Wall Street firms, and with the Saudi Royal Family, in permitting 9/11 to happen as a pretext for war to secure energy resources in Afghanistan and Iraq.

2) The consequent "investigations" are a mockery of the American people and disrespect our concept of justice. There is no question but that the varied investigations have been both frustrated by an Administration in active denial mode, and by a Congress reluctant to confront the hands that feed them: the special interests.

It is clear to me that we need a People's Grand Jury that has access to the same level of technology that is represented by "Able Danger," that is to say, we must be able to do data mining on all of this information, and create public intelligence reports--and public counterintelligence reports--that connect the dots for the people. We must do this before November 2006.

I believe that if such an endeavor is successful, it will demonstrate that the CIA and the FBI were both corrupt and incompetent prior to, during, and after 9/11; that the U.S. military was put on "stand down" to allow 9/11 to happen; and that Dick Cheney specifically, but the Bush Administration neo-cons generally, mis-led the President, Congress, the media, and the public with a web of lies intended to further their pre-conceived ideological fantasies.

We the People need to get our collective public intelligence enterprise going before November 2006. America is close to a tipping point. This author, and David Griffin, give us a slight taste of the power that can be restored to the public if we pay attention. That makes them national heros.

I am only halfway through this comprehensive and last word (at least until the miscreants in our government break down and confess) on the 9-11 Plot and am learning new things on every page. No one who reads this can come away without feeling that they have been violated in a very surreal and undefinable way. The litany of coverups and transparent lies coming out of this administration is breathtaking in its treachery and duplicity, and only a doubly blind person can't connect the dots to see that the 9-11 disaster required more than a little help from a superficially inept bureacracy. This is journalism honed to a fine art and challenges modern historians - put up or shut up and match this man's dedication at unmasking the truth. But no, Americans prefer to believe George "Goebbels" Bush's lies as he leads them to the Promised Land. Between Fahrenhei 911 and this book, there's more than enough circumstantial evidence to convict everyone in this administration of high treason.

As I said on the only other book on the issue that I gave 5 stars, Imperial Hubris, this book is a five-star must read. I have read LOTS of books on Iraq, terrorism, Islamics, cultural issues, politics, etc. ove the last 20 years - This IS THE definite text hundreds of times better than the 9-11 Commission Report.

Using a free and open approach to research and citing EVERY reference as it is reported allows people to do their own research and draw their own conclusions. Reading this book leaves one with the clear impression that Bush LIED to the Commission, that Rice LIED to the Commission and that the warnings given prior to 9-11 are completely inexcusable regardless of whether that means we do something about it or not. The vast amount of material makes it unwieldy to read online but the book itself is a surprisingly easy read in a news summary/blurb format.

Even after the final report of Charles Duelfer to Congress saying that Iraq did not have a significant WMD program, 72% of Bush supporters continue to believe that Iraq had actual WMD (47%) or a major program for developing them (25%).

Fifty-six percent assume that most experts believe Iraq had actual WMD and 57% also assume, incorrectly, that Duelfer concluded Iraq had at least a major WMD program.

Similarly, 75% of Bush supporters continue to believe that Iraq was providing substantial support to al Qaeda, and 63% believe that clear evidence of this support has been found. Sixty percent of Bush supporters assume that this is also the conclusion of most experts, and 55% assume, incorrectly, that this was the conclusion of the 9/11 Commission.

This is not sour grapes but a realistic assessment of what people out there really believe. This book can help. I plan to buy multiple copies for friends, family and my library. Thompson's 9/11 timeline has long been the indispensable resource for those doing serious research into 9/11. But it has also served as an excellent introduction into problems with the official story. It does this simply by showing discrepancies between this story and hundreds of stories in the mainstream press (to which Thompson restricts himself). My own work on the subject began, for example, by studying the material provided by Thompson, and this material has remained my primary resource.

It is great that this magnificent labor of love--love for the truth--is now available in book form, so that it is far more widely accessible. The Terror Timeline, furthermore, is not simply the material that was previously available on the Internet. Rather, Thompson made many last-minute additions, responding in particular to reports by the 9/11 Commission.

One can never know, of course, what the effect of a book will be. But my guess is that if people begin reading The 9/11 Commission Report in conjunction with Thompson's book, the Report will start getting fewer 5-star and far more 1-star reviews.

After comparing the facts revealed in Paul Thompson's Terror Timeline to those released in the 9/11 Commission's Final Report, I was forced to draw the conclusion that the Commission is guilty of issuing an incomplete and misleading account of the events leading up to, the causes of, and the actions during 9/11. Whether it be the dozens of specific warnings or the obstructions into FBI investigations; the ISI's complicity or the ignored money trail; the 9/11 war games or the unprecedented failure to defend America's skies; they are just a few of the dozen or so subjects that the 9/11 Commission consciously ignored; and they are critical, not just for the public's, but for history's understanding of the attacks. As long as we continue to ignore the problems that caused 9/11, we will be unable to correct them. I urge anybody and everybody -- especially my fellow Americans -- to read this book and spread the information it provides.

this is the most jaw dropping,awe inspiring book written on the subject.This book is the most THOROUGHLY documented I have seen.You can check the facts out for yourself because almost every sentence in this book is documented with verifiable sources.I know this book took a long time to compile because I have followed it online and was waiting for the book to come out. Another good book on the subject is WELCOME TO TERRORLAND by DANIEL HOPSICKER.Barry and the Boys by Daniel Hopsicker is also a good read.

Paul Thompson and the Center for Cooperative Research have done a simply magnificent job compiling this book, which explores everything that you knew, you didn't know, or that you may have heard only briefly about 9/11 and the fight against terrorism before and since that horrible day. It is a good-sized book, and every single page has at least two or three facts culled from the nation's mainstream press that will shock, enrage, or sadden you.

Thompson provides media citations for almost every sentence in the book, so you can look the information up on your own, if you feel so inclined. In fact, Thompson encourages you to do this. And you will WANT to do it, because if there's anything that this book screams, it's that you simply cannot take everything your leaders or the media have been telling you at face value. You HAVE to put all the pieces together and think. Thompson does a huge favor to the American people by showing what those pieces are and where they go together in time.

There is so much in this book that I was not aware of or that I had forgotten about. Remember the insider trading on airline and WTC stocks that took place just before 9/11? Haven't heard much about that since then, have you? Well, it was a lot worse than you think. And our very own media reported on it, but you didn't see it on the front page, and it's been essentially hushed up ever since. By whom? Thompson presents the facts and allows you to draw your own conclusions.

This is a hugely important book.
