(Hide Review...)  So, you think you've got issues?
Reviewer Permalink
Think you've got issues? NOT! You can't read through this book and get to the end and not be ever so thankful that you're life isn't nearly as crazy and mixed-up as some of these folks. Of course, on the other hand, if some of YOUR secrets were in here, others would be thinking the same thing about YOURS! (smile)

I loved this book because it offers such insight into how we really think. It captures us in all our fearful and hilarious humanity in tiny instants of time. You can't go through this book and not feel, at the end, that we're all a little crazy -- and, that's all right. (smile)

So, why is this so important? Because, as one contributor put it: "Every single person has at least one secret that would break your heart. If we could just remember this, I think there would be a lot more compassion and tolerance in the world."
Amen.

These books are truly inspirational. I love them. You would never know how many lives you can relate to until you read their stories. People aren't honest any more, and the more we hide things, the more complicated our lives are. This book illustrates the simple purity and power of truth.

The Postsecret books are a fascinating glimpse into the concerns and lives of others. Makes for thoughtful conversation - and wondering what goes on in the lives of the people around us. We all have secrets - some more shattering or uplifting than others.

This was good, but not as good as the first - or perhaps the novelty is wearing off. Or perhaps because I check it each week, I feel like I've seen them all? Having said that, the book itself is great quality with some very interesting "secrets" in them. A few of them are extraordinarily sad and it makes me hope that the person that sent it was able to let go of it once it was mailed.

If not for the PostSecret books I'd never know the depth and deviousness of humanity; or that somebody else out there shares my above sentiment.

I'm particularly interested in the gender deception notes of this book.

i've followed postsecret since it first started, and i've loved each book frank's released. this is actually the second copy of this book i've bought as a gift for a friend. i've found that even if someone has never heard of postsecret before, they immediately get sucked into it.

the reason i am willing to buy multiples of the postsecret books is because frank uses the proceeds to keep the postsecret website advertisement-free, and he does amazing things for the suicide hotline.

The book made me laugh, it made me cry, it made me gasp, it made me silent. It wasn't so much a book than an experience. I think this one is a little less art, a little more content since Warren knew the secrets were a success (and people cared less for the artistic value of the postcard itself). The postcards are presented in ways that are easier to read than in the first postsecret book (I have not read the second book). The pages are also used more efficiently than in the first book. This book's secrets run more on the darker side. I felt a lot more sad reading this one than the first one. I don't think there was but one funny "secret." All I can say is that I hope the people sending these in are being genuine because I'd feel like a chump if they weren't.

Is there anyone left on earth who doesn't know about these books, the blog, or the website? If so, where have you been? Out of all the coffee table books I've read in the past, the PostSecret series is the very best of the best. I haven't viewed all of them, but will. That's a promise.

THE SECRET LIVES OF MEN AND WOMEN is probably the least favorite of the book thus far. Maybe because it was so thin compared to the other two.

This book was a definite relief from the crappy second book. Although it is still only half the size of the first. The second book and this one should have been combined. The better secrets in this would have made up for the stupid ones in the second, and it would have been a more worthwhile length. Anyway, thus book is worth buying.

OK... I'm on a PostSecret book kick now. This time I grabbed The Secret Lives of Men and Women: A PostSecret Book by Frank Warren from the library. And like the first one I read, I was completely drawn in by the human drama played out in the pages.

If you don't know, PostSecret is the project started by Frank Warren where people decorate postcards and letters, reveal a secret they have that they haven't told to anyone, and then send it anonymously to PostSecret. Warren has taken these confessions and posted them on his website as well as compiling some of them into books. Secret Lives is not any different than the others, but it doesn't mean that there isn't an incredible amount of emotion there. Some that caught my attention... (written on a calendar page) "I write fake notes on my desk calendar for my employees to find just to see how fast the news spreads!"; "I only wear watches with numbers because I can't read dots or roman numbers."; (superimposed on a wedding announcement) "on our first date I told him that I had genital herpes. he loved me anyway. this July we will celebrate our 20 year anniversary . thank you for loving me anyway."

Some of the secrets are crushing to imagine what lies behind them... "I'm terrified that my sister is going to hurt herself on purpose... and I don't know how to help her."; "I haven't forgiven my dad for leaving when I as a kid. I'm 30 now and still feel he left because of me."; "I gave up my dream because of one bad teacher..."

There's so much emotion here, and you realize that people are living with crushing burdens. I have one more PostSecret book to read, and I have no doubt it'll be just as emotional. This one's not quite as long as the previous one, but still well worth reading.

i liked the book but then i realized that i just paid a lot of money for a picture book. it's interesting to read other people's secrets of course but ...not worth the cash.

it's the EXACT same thing as reading it online on his website. why pay for it if you can see it for free online [on his site]. this applies to all postsecret books...

i would think buying the book would add some sort of umph to it but no.

I just finished reading this book and can't quite describe the varied emotions I felt while doing so. Apparently, I live under a rock because I had never heard of the author, book or project until today when the book was handed to me at work. There is something deeply moving about reading people's innermost thoughts that range from the overwhelmingly sad thoughts on marriage to some other secrets that were, bluntly put, disgusting.

I'm going to purchase this book for myself because I think it provides fascinating insight into the minds of people in America today. I related to so many of the "secrets" and found the somewhat repulsive ones just as intriguing if only because that was the best they could think of to send in.

This is not a book that is meant to sit on a coffee table, but it's certainly one that would provide hours of conversation over what was submitted. Again, a highly fascinating book that I would recommend to others.

The Post-Secret phenomenon is at first strange and awkward. Why would anyone want to post their secrets? However, this sensationalist activity of peering into other peoples lives, becomes a truly beautiful and heart wrenching exercise in empathy. It's absurd at first that one would care about the anonymous letters, but the reader is sucked in to the possible lives laid bare on the pages. It shows that all of human kinds fears, anxieities, and desires, are universal. Beautiful as always.
