The PowerScore LSAT Logic Games Bible is the most comprehensive book available for the Logic Games section of the LSAT. The intent of this book is to provide you with an advanced system for attacking any game you encounter on the LSAT. This same system is covered in the live classes taught by PowerScore, and all of the methods and techniques discussed in the book have been tested in classroom situations over many years.
The book features and explains a detailed methodology for attacking the games section. All aspects of Logic Games are covered, from recognizing game types to diagramming rules to making inferences and answering questions. Entire chapters are devoted to the most advanced game techniques and to time management strategies.
Logic Games are divided into individual types, and a discussion follows that teaches you how to approach each type of Game, and drills are presented to help you apply and understand the techniques. Thereafter, real LSAT logic games are used to illustrate how the techniques apply to real tests. Using real LSAT questions is a must for high-level LSAT preparation, and twenty-one real LSAT logic games are contained in the book. Each logic game is accompanied by a detailed analysis of the game setup and related questions.
The author has over 12 years experience teaching the LSAT and has scored in the 99th percentile on a Law Services-administered test. An expert in LSAT preparation, he has overseen the preparation of thousands of students and founded two national LSAT preparation companies.
The Logic Games Bible can be supplemented by The Ultimate Set-Ups Guide, which features setups for every game in each released LSAT from 1995 to 2002. Also, both books provide access to a unique website for additional LSAT and Logic Games information, and has answers to frequently asked questions. Instead of typing a paragraph, I'll do a bullet point review to make this review more readable.
Pros of this Book * A lot of good information can be had here if you're willing to read * Very useful info on proper diagramming techniques * The drills throughout the chapters help with learning the application of techniques * The organization is excellent in this book. The most common game types are at the front of the book while the more obscure game types are in towards the back of the book * The drill explanations are detailed. The most important thing to do is to look over drills/questions and learn why answers are correct or incorrect and where you messed up if you got a question wrong. Cons of this Book * The author at times wrote too much to make a simple point. It can be daunting to read due to the needless text making the reader want to skim * This book is expensive, so one has to budget carefully to make room for this book * The use of actual LSAT questions can end up tainting one's practice tests * The tone of the author can be haughty at times (I don't mind, but others probably would). The author suggests some techniques for diagramming and time management as if it were the best when people have to develop their own style. The author also attacks other prep books and companies needlessly. * Some of the techniques are good, some are too impractical to be useful. Using hypotheticals to answer questions would eat up too much time during the real test. * There are some typos throughout the book. Nothing that makes the book unreadable, but it can be annoying at times. All in all, this is a good book for learning the basics of LG. If you do well on LG already, then this isn't worth a purchase, but if you're like me and struggle with LG, then this is a worthy purchase. Of course, buying PTs and other similar study aids are far more important, so don't make this your first purchase, especially if you haven't taken a couple diagnostics first. This book is too expensive to buy without KNOWING if you need it. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-10-02 08:40:01 EST)

When I took my first practice LSAT I received a 145. My weakest section was the logic games, but after reading this book it became my easiest section. I recently took the June 2008 LSAT and received a 153- not bad if you are looking for mediocre schools, and received 21 of 23 on the Logic Games section. I know a lot of fellow LSAT takers who have problem with this portion of the LSAT and the books they read have all of these wacky, difficult to understand diagrams.
This prep book gives you clear, and easy instructions that become like second nature with enough practice. I probably studied for less than a month with the Logic Games bible. Oh, and I do plan on taking the upcoming October LSAT and using the Logical Reasoning Bible(same company, must be good right?) along with anything I can find on reading comprehension! The PowerScore LSAT Logic Games BIble (LGB) has been an invaluable resource as I prepare for the LSAT. Although I am attending a prep course, I also use the LGB for additional assistance. The Games Logic Bible contains problems and thorough explanations to right AND wrong answers. Once you get into the groove of tackling the questions, it's sometimes difficult to put down the book. Coupled with the class, I feel confident that this additional resource will help me excel on the upcoming exam.

Like their Logical Reasoning Bible, what I liked about this book is that it is like having a tutor sitting next to you explaining how to go about things. I've gone through many other logic games books and this one still ranks to me as #1 because of that.
The book is great for breadth of material as well as depth. Definitely comprehensive. The book tells you the typical kinds of inferences you should be looking for immediately after processing the rules. Lots of tips and tricks to be found in this book. All taught using real LSAT questions. I found their selection of games to be quite representative as well. If you are only going to get one logic games book, this is the one. I've purchased every available logic games how-to book. The best two are "ACE the LSAT Logic Games" by Get Prepped, and the Revised & Updated LSAT Logic Games Bible (just came out in 2008, and covers games up to September 2007). Both of these texts teach students to diagram. I would say the Get Prepped book teaches you how to diagram more quickly, but that the Logic Games Bible offers beginners more theoretial step-by-step explanations about how to make inferences. A critic of the first edition of the LSAT Logic Games was correct in stating that many of the techniques taught in the LSAT Logic Games Bible took too long to apply during the actual test. I just got my hands on the Revised and Updated 2008 edition, and see Powersoore has taken customers' criticisms seriously, and have come up with faster ways to diagram. Many of the reviews lauding any of these texts were written by people who have not yet taken the test. As a past test-taker who attended law school a long time ago (1990) and wishes to return, I can say these logic games prep books together are much better than the expensive Stanley Kaplan course I took back in 1990. I would caution against just going through the books and expecting to be prepared. Yes, the techniques should become second-nature, but this can't be done abstractly. One must study both books carefully, then practice on real LSATs under timed conditions. Let's read some reviews by people who've actually taken the LSATs after using this book. Although I am ranking the first edition as a "2" I see that the second edition (revised and updated) is much improved and expanded, and recommend buying it as well as the Get Prepped book, Ace the LSAT Logic Games. I also bought the flashcards by powerscore, but find I am learning a lot by preparing my own flashcards while going through the practice/learning games in the Get Prepped book. I've gotten all the problems correct in the last two games I've taken after I started making my own flashcards, where I jot down distinct test-taking techniques for diagramming and making inferences.

This book is a terrific way to boost your ability to handle the logic games on the LSAT. The strategies in this book are far more effective than the strategies in the Kaplan review.

Obviously, Powerscore's marketing campaign can be heart-felt at Amazon - I have heard that many of the customer reviews here are actually written by the company's marketing folks, who lurk around websites to promote their material. I scored a 176 on the June 2007 LSAT, and I can tell you hands down that 200 pages of this material will not help you improve on the LSAT (if anything, it makes you slow down on the games, which are critically detrimental to your performance). Contrary to what they claim, their methods will not work on every logic game. (it will only work on those examples that they show).
Here's how I studied, after wasting 2 weeks on this book: 1) Private tutoring! I cannot tell you how important this is.. save money on prep courses and get someone that will cater to your individual needs. This is the best way to improve on the games section. 2) Kaplan 180 book - this book is hands down the best book to improve your score, once you hit 160, and to go to the next level 3) If you have a couple months (even years to prep for), improve your logic!!! read some philosophy books (I recommend Graham Priest's "Logic: A very short introduction) or take a formal logic philosophy course. Really, there should be nothing that distinguishes a student who gets over a 170 and students who don't. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-02-14 22:18:20 EST)

This book is a fabulous resource, especially if (like me) the LG is the one section you are struggling with and you don't want to pay for a full review course just for help with the games. After one run through the book I've already improved significantly on the games section.

If you're no good at logic games I don't see how this book can help. I carefully worked through all the chapters but when I got to the end absolutely nothing stuck. I was very depressed when I got to the questions on page 201 and couldn't get any of them done. I had to keep referring to the answer section to help me through.
I reason I give this book only one star is to balance all the overblown ratings it's gotten. If it were just my own review I'd give it three stars - you do get a lot of good advice on how to work these games. But if your brain's not built for logic games it just won't respond to the training. Of course, I've only been working at this for about six weeks. But still - NO improvement? I score very high on IQ tests so I know I'm not dumb. I just can't do these logic games very well. Before and after this book I'd miss about 14 of them. The Logic Games are the easiest part of the exam. They are the most simple and objective (compared to the utterly contrived reading problems), so why bother?

This is the section of the LSAT that will require the most practice for most people. It's not that it's harder (I'd argue that it's probably easier); it's just more unusual. We all read, and hopefully anyone trying to get into law school has some skill at analyzing an argument. But these games force you to think in a way that most people rarely do.
And, this is the best book to teach you how. When I first looked at these problems, I found them somewhat paralyzing. They include a lot of information that can be very difficult to keep straight. This book provides great strategies for organizing that information in a simple way that can be easily applied to each question. Not only does it have great strategy advice, it also uses real LSAT questions. When I read about that in the reviews before buying the book, I didn't really understand how it could make a difference. Now that I've studied Powerscore materials that include real LSAT questions and other test prep materials with simulated questions, I can say without a doubt that the real questions are better. I always found myself doubting the reasoning behind the answers for the other test prep materials, and eventually I realized that it's because they don't have to go through the same rigorous approval process to which a real LSAT question is subject. I only wish this book had more practice questions, but you can always buy additional practice tests from LSAC. By the time you've finished this book, you won't really need the in-depth explanations any more. Since finishing this book, I never miss a question... and I finish the section nearly every time. Don't take the LSAT without reading (and completing the practice questions from) this book first. (Review Data Last Updated: 2007-12-28 16:34:03 EST)

So, I just got this book today and I can't tell you how impressed I am already! I am a Logic Game retard so to say. I've tried a million books, a million drills, and a million preps and I just don't get it. This book has already got me completing one type of game with 100% accuracy! Unlike the other books, it has drills throughout each chapter rather than big "tests" at the end. It not only drills you on entire games, but on diagramming and setup! I'm only on page 33, but I was so excited I had to review it...b/c, as the LSAT is quickly approaching, I know people are on the lookout for the "quick fix," and ladies and gentlemen, I believe this it is!!!!

You will wreck your chances on the LSAT if you follow the advice, and you will waste your prep time by reading it. I just took the test and fortunately I threw the advice out the window as soon as I started to do timed tests. Avoid this book.

I wish I would have purchased this book months ago! In contrast to other LSAT prep books, this one explains the Logic Games in a much more clear, concise, and easy to understand way. If you decide to use another LSAT prep book, I highly reccomend using this one to prepare your self for the Logic Games part, and skipping that part in your other LSAT prep, as this one is the best. I just took the LSAT on 9/29/07, and everything that was covered in the book, I utilized on the test!

The Logic Games Bible teaches techniques for diagramming games and, to a lesser extent, attacking the questions. The most useful things I picked up from the book were:
1) Never erase your work (do one master diagram at the bottom of each page and then, if necessary, do mini-diagrams the questions). 2) Diagramming numerical distributions. 3) "Hurdling the uncertainty, TM," which is an effective method of diagramming inclusion/exclusion rules when presented with rules like "A, B, and C can not all be selected at the same time." 4) Diagramming abstract sequences It's worth noting that along the way, the book utilizes some strange conventions. For example, when diagraming a sequence where A comes before B (that is, it's in a lower numbered position) the book suggests that the following shorthand be used: A>B, that is A is greater than B. If you've taken a math class in the last decade, this is disconcerting--in practice I diagrammed all of the abstract sequences exactly opposite of the book. Also, when diagramming morning and afternoon games, the book suggested that the diagram look like this: afternoon.|_ _ _ _ _ morning....|_ _ _ _ _ A strange reversal of morning and afternoon that is, again, off-putting to anyone who has used outlook, or even a regular calendar. These are minor quibbles, but to some extent, they make the book seem a little amateurish and undermine the reader's confidence in it. All said, this book can be very useful if used correctly. Its well worth purchasing if you're aiming for the 170s, still have a month or two left to study, and have not taken many practice exams (I say this because there aren't that many old logic sections to go through, and it takes a decent number of practice sections to learn how to efficiently apply the techniques taught in the book). If, however, you're planning on skipping a game on the test, expect to score <170, only have a couple of weeks before the exam, or have chugged through most of the practice exams, this will be an expensive book of little use. I have been looking at all the bookstores in the Atlanta area for this book. I needed it to study for my upcoming LSAT. The book was out of stock everywhere in Georgia. I simply went online to Amazon and the book arrived at my doorstep within 3 days-and it was cheaper than the bookstores! This book is an excellent tool if you are unsure about the logic games portion of the LSAT. I would recommend it to anyone, even if they feel pretty confident on logic games.

I used this book as a supplement to the PowerScore classroom course, and I found the book more helpful than the actual course! When I began to work through the book my score was a 168, but I now score consistently in the 173-174 range. As I practice, I get even faster...the techniques really are superb. Just leave yourself enough time (2-3 weeks) to work through the book without rushing so that you can absorb each concept, and then leave at least 3 weeks to do your own practice, honing the techniques on actual LSATs. I've been working just the games section from one test each day, and then an entire test every 4th day.
Unless you think the games are easy, this is the most important LSAT prep book you can buy. (Review Data Last Updated: 2007-10-14 03:34:33 EST)

Before purchasing this book, I purchased both Kaplan and Princeton Review prep books and still SUCKED at the analytical reasoning/logic games section of the LSAT. I spent two weeks with this book and was able to complete every logic game accurately. I'm still working on the timing but at least I'm able to diagram the games and arrive at the correct answers, which is something I struggled with before. If you have difficulty w/ the logic games - this is the book for you!!!

I have a real hard time with logic puzzles. But, there's nothing better than practice with real logic puzzles to improve your score. This book uses actual puzzles from previously released LSATs. Please do not waste your time with books that do not used actual LSAT puzzles, they're a joke. This book improved my abilities and prepared me for a real LSAT.

I am a pretty typical student who is preparing for my LSATs. I was having extreme difficulty with Logic games in both organization and time. My pretest average was about 157. After using only this book going chapter by chapter, moving on only when I understood the game type completely (with still the advanced games chapter left to go), I have begun to retake the test and now average 165. I usually only get one question wrong per game, and that is usually because I move on because of time. I was wary at first to spend 60 dollars on the book, but now I feel like it was worth every dollar. The Logic Games section is now my strongest. I never expected that to happen. I recommend this book, but I must caution it is only worth it if you put the effort into reading it and doing the exercises step by step, even the most mundane ones.
I have ADD and graphing, charting, and organizing my thoughts on paper has always been rough for me, so the structure this book provides in terms f layout is valuable for me. I never write reviews on Amazon, but I had to for this book. Those who use it are almost in a cult of Logic Games understanding now. I run into people at school and when we talk about LSATs and how we study there's often the "bible" click who start talking about how amazing it is. Quite funny, actually. I haven't taken the LSAT yet. So I won't know for sure if it is as good as I think it is until September 29, 2007. Having said that, I can't imagine something else for someone short on time. I started preparing for LSAT about two month ago. Took a few practice tests and found that I never finished the logic games section in time. Went over Kaplan, Arco and another guide book (for the logic games section only) and got the feeling that they are helpful for 150+ students trying to get to 160+ but don't help me much. I was getting 165+ with 17-18 logic games questions done in the given time. All of my answers for the questions I did do were correct, as would be anyone's who is given more time. Clearly, I wasn't setting games up efficiently enough to finish each in 8:45 mins. I am not the sort of person who marks unattempted questions and goes back to them at the end of the test. I needed efficient set up that would enable me to get a game done in 8:45 mins without having to ever go back. I got that from this book.
I found out that every logic games question in any released LSAT can be categorized into game types described by this book and attempted with the set up they advocate. It's a sort of mechanical process for me. These additional 5-6 points from the logic games section has raised my prep test average score to 171+. I also want to praise the fact that unlike Kaplan, etc., this book is extremely to-the-point. I read it and got the ideas in it in a week. For someone like me who works full-time 5 days a week and has other social engagements on weekends, this is important. My only complaint (hence no 5-star rating) is that it doesn't have a greater number of practice problems. Oh well, that's what the prep tests are for. No agendas. No padded marketing. Just a great book about LSAT logic. Buy any from Powerscore and you will improve your score. This book is structured in a way that teaches LSAT logic better than the others. It's patterned to educate you in this exam.

There are a lot of LSAT prep books out there -- Powerscore is the best by far. Its logic-based approach gives you a solid foundation, allowing you to apply its principles flexibly as you confront the myriad different game types. Just as importantly, this book uses real LSAT questions from previous LSAT tests. I used Princeton Review and Master the LSAT and found them both lacking, especially because the questions they fabricated never quite seemed matched up to the real test questions. I'm sure Powerscore pays a lot for the rights to the questions, but its worth it for their students. Pay the money, get the real stuff, get good training, do well on the exam.

I was hesitant to purchase this book, considering its high price. However, I can say without a doubt that it is the most useful LSAT prep book I've come across. The Kaplan books don't even hold a candle to how helpful this one was.
This is ONLY for the Logic Games section of the test. The book outlines each game you are likely to see on the test, gives you diagramming strategies and tips for reusing information gleaned from previous questions. It's both sped up my response rate, and improved by "correct answers" in just the couple of weeks I've been studying from it. All in all, a VERY worthwhile purchase! When I first started studying for the LSAT, I could finish all of the sections on time except logic games. This book costs a lot, but it simplified the different structures and helped me a great deal. Now I'm correctly answering all of my logic games.
The downsides are that it has as lot of superfluous terminology to classify the different types of games, while offering relatively few actual games to practice with. (If you're looking for oodles of games to just get in that rigorous practice, check out "Ace the LSAT Logic Games" by Get Prepped.) Still, I would definitely recommend this book; it is a good, informative buy regardless of how little or how much you've begun to study. To not waste time and energy, I would just advise ignoring information that seems irrelevant to solving the games themselves. (Review Data Last Updated: 2007-04-19 10:16:28 EST)

I was a little unsure when I bought the book since I hadn't really heard of Power Score before, but this book is great. I'd originally purchased Kaplan materials to prep for the LSAT- mostly the logic games- and, while that was okay...this is great. The book takes you though the best and most time efficient ways to set up the game. It also helps you realize what inferences you need to make to really get the answers right. There are drills for the different types of games, and all of the practice questions are from REAL LSATs, which is more than I can say for the other books. I've yet to take the LSAT, but this certainly seems to have helped me understand the Logic Games better than the competitors. I only wish I'd found this first!

I think the most important part of this book is the insight that is given on how to best approach the games, and in what scenerios you might want to skip questions etc. One reviewer complained that there weren't enough questions... I would agree, there could be more questions, but this book gives you all that you need to handle questions on practice tests in a cheaper book. Initially, I was a little bit taken aback by the price of this book comparatively speaking, but it is SO worth it! Great book!

Did you realize most of the people who gave this book a five star has ONLY ONE review, is it possible for anyone to study LSAT with only one book? It's as if they just love this book so much that they have to share, yeah right! Well, you judge for yourself. Anyway, the cheaper you can find this book, the better(only 200 pages). There aren't enough problems for you to practice, and they make the diagrams confusing by adding way too many useless terms. Furthmore there's nothing special in this book, the game setups are not that different from any other book. This book is not worth $60(list price).

This was by far the most helpful book in my preparation for the LSAT. While I scored fairly high in several practice tests before I picked up this book, my scores varied by several points because I was inconsistent in the logic games section. Learning and practicing methods for setting up the logic games helped to improve both my scores and consistency. The logic games section is possibly the most learnable section of the LSAT. This is the best book, hands down, for learning and practicing how to handle each game.

I took the online Kaplan LSAT review and was pretty discouraged, especially since it cost me $150. Other courses seem to spend far too much time on elaborate diagrams that are hard to read. This book has you marking very simple diagrams from the very beginning. It also shows you how to use previous answers to complete later questions. I am only spending time on this book now.

Best games technique book on the market, I must say. The glossary in the back of every game ever is especially useful.
I will say, however, that if you've taken a course, namely Princeton Review's Hyperlearning, it's pretty much the same stuff. However, if you don't plan to take a course and want to buy the best games book, buy this one. It's expensive, but next to the price of law school, it's almost nothing. It is a little thinner than I was hoping. For $60, I can buy at least twenty practice tests. That said, I would recommend going through this book and every test ever published by LSAT. I'm taking the LSAT this coming weekend. When I first started to prepare over the summer, I would miss 12-18 questions out of 22-23 in a Logic Games section on practice tests. But after using this book and practicing intensively with the methods it provides, my accuracy level has skyrocketed. Now on my practice tests, I'm missing just 1-2 problems per Games section, and nearly always finishing with plenty of time to spare.
The Bible gives very thorough explanations of each type of problem presented on the LSAT, and the different ways to approach diagramming and thinking them out. I used to despise the Logic Games section, but now that I know how to handle the problems and setups, I actually look forward to it during my practice tests! This goes a long way in terms of improving my attitude toward the LSAT, which I'm sure has also helped to increase my overall practice scores. This book is a sound investment despite the high price tag (which is why it gets 4 stars and not 5). But to maximize its benefit, give yourself plenty of time to go through it. There is a lot of information to absorb, and it can take some time to get the hang of the methods and learn to use them with efficiency. In my case, it took a month of daily practice before I saw any real improvement in my performance on the games section. (Review Data Last Updated: 2006-09-30 03:10:01 EST)

This book is good and solid .. i would have given it five stars had not been for the fact that even after you buy the book you still need to have insight of your own to solve the problem....it will not spoon feed you.
secondly it does not really help you to solve problems within 8 mins 45 sec( which is where i believe most peope have weakness) but it will definitely reduce amount of time you spend on each question especially for linear games. in the end you will attack games with more confidence but still probably be out of time. overall i think it is worth the money and on average will definitely help you solve 90 % more problems than you did before and probably reduce your time by about 60%...but still you need to be naturally adept with logic to do well. This is the only instruction you need for LSAT logic games. Save thousands of dollars on expensive courses. Don't even waste money on other test prep books. This is the only book you need (aside from sample tests, of course.) Sure, it may be expensive, but it's better than hoppring from $40 book to $40 book, eventually resorting to a $1000 class.
Buy this book. Your logic game score will soar. And you'll get into a better law school. (Review Data Last Updated: 2006-09-08 02:54:22 EST)

I love love love this book! Before this I tried to study with the Kaplan and Princeton books, but they are not close to how much detail this book goes into. The other books suggested that I draw the rules any way I want, and that made me spend more time on the games cuz half the time I was tryin to figure out the diagram to make for the rules. But this book not only gives you a detailed analysis of the game and question types, but it has Real LSAT problems instead of made up problems which actually made me feel less nervous about the test. I would recommend this book over any other LSAT book out there.

I've spent the past several months preparing with the PowerScore Logic Games Bible. It's a wonderful book for preparing for the LSAT AR section.
There are those that say that it artificially inflates scores because you do actual problems in your practice. That may be true if you use the book to memorize the problems instead of learning the methods. I find the methods to be very efficient. I didn't give the book five stars because there are a few things that I don't like. For example, the author introduces a double-arrow with a vertical line in the middle to establish an if X then NOT Y relationship. The problem is that to those without a solid formal logic background will be tempted to read this relationship both ways (translation: the conditional tells us that if we have X we can't have Y, and if we have Y we can't have X; however, the double arrow might lead some to believe that if we don't have Y then we can't have X and vice versa--that's a logical fallicy). In my opinion and in my experience, it's worth the time to write out two quick conditionals rather than writing a shortcut that could easily be misinterpreted by those of us without enough of a formal logic background. Again, there are just a few small quirks like that. But if you're willing to spend the time to go through the book and learn the METHODS rather than learning the problems, you'll find this book to be a life-saver come test time. I usually dreaded logic games like the ones that appear in the LSAT. While some of the questions were generally straightfoward, there were some that I just couldn't get or would eventually get after spending great quantities of energy and time -- which is a definite no-no on the LSAT.
I bought the Logic Games Bible because I wasn't impressed with Kaplan's review materials, and I wasn't going to waste my money on actual classes. After only a few weeks of careful review, the logic games became clearer. I began to solve them faster and with greater accuracy. I scored perfectly on the LSAT logic games section after using onyl this book. This is a definite buy for anyone who struggles with logic games. Powerscore takes you step-by-step to not only set up the games but also to teach what inferences can be drawn from certain game rules. Like most learning, once you see Powerscore set up a problem or draw and inference, that knowledge stays with you. Highly recommended. (Review Data Last Updated: 2006-07-30 03:31:13 EST)
