After spending four tours in Iraq and just getting home from the last one, I can say that what is said in this book is correct.
There is no more the rising threat, but the threat that has already risen and is here in the US. I suggest you, the reader, understand that Islam is more a tribal/political system than it is a religion. It's about control and who can gain it. I know there will be critics saying we have done the same. But the US has evolved and surrounds itself with life - or rebirth. Islam is engulfed in death and chaos. Buy this book and read it to your children - educate them - Islam is worst than communism could ever dream of being. I also suggest the book, Because They Hate, Islamic Invasion, and Hostage to the Devil to see - or at least read - what US military personnel are experiencing in defending your rights here in the US. I read through a couple of pages of this book. Then I went online to see what the actual translation of the verse : Quran(2:214) says;
"Or do ye think that ye shall enter the Garden (of bliss) without such (trials) as came to those who passed away before you? they encountered suffering and adversity, and were so shaken in spirit that even the Messenger and those of faith who were with him cried: "When (will come) the help of Allah." Ah! Verily, the help of Allah is (always) near!" Ignorance and propoganda has no boundaries these days. Wake up people and do some research before you start buying lies and ills of an upset jerk. Fantastic and eye opening book!! When i was young, i was taught in Catholic school that we were brothers and sisters with Jews and Islam. But as i have gotten older, i started to discover the Islam part was totally incorrect. This book bring it all together to show the truth about Islam and how it compares with Crhistianity. the other gives a fair account, even telling where Islam is good, but that sure isnt often.
The biggest "truth" i found in the book was the subject of lying. Jesus taught that if you lie, you speak from the devil. God Cant tell a lie. But Muhammad stated in the Koran that lying is ok if it promotes Islam. The other eye opening thing was how Muhammad hated the Cross and banned it. Only the devil hates the cross. Both those convinced me that Islam comes from the devil. This book should be required reading in high school to take a serious look at Islam. We all need to wake up before its tooooo late....After reading this book i would die before ever being "FORCED" to convert! (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-06-10 07:57:36 EST)

"The Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam (and the Crusades)" by Robert Spencer is a non-fiction book in which he dispels commonly held myths about the `peaceful' nature of Islam. He establishes that Muhammad was a thief and a killer, and founded his religion on these principals (The Battle of Badr, pg. 7 and pg. 9). It then goes on to tell about what the Qur'an really says about being a warrior religion (Three Choices, pg. 35 and pg 41), about Muslim's intolerance of other religions (all of chapter 4) about women being decidedly subordinate to their husbands (chapter 5). It concludes part one with how it is a Muslim's duty to make the world a one religion planet. Part two covers what Mr. Spencer perceives as myths about what the Crusades were and weren't. Mostly he believes it was campaigns to avenge and protect Christian Europe against the invading Muslim marauders. And finally Robert Spencer explains how Jihad is more than just the war in Iraq, but also a subtle immigration movement to infiltrate America and Europe from the inside.
No doubt about it, if the above synopsis offends you, then this book is most certainly not for you. To those it does appeal to it serve as a warning and a wake-up call; that we should be very weary of the reverse discrimination that is slowly filtering through our society. Spencer describes how the many crimes that should be classified as terrorism is not out of fear. What fear you ask? Fear of being labeled racist. Fear of retaliation by Muslims. And fear of alienating oil rich nations, whom some U.S. businessmen and politicians have a very lucrative oil deals with. So, what do I think? I admit that I do not have a lot of experience with the Islam faith, and have not studied it much. The only significant experience I had with Islam was when I was deployed to the Middle East with the Army (make of that what you will). So I do not know about any kind of counter argument you can make. But based on this book I must admit, I now have something interesting (and a little scary) to think over now. This book fails to go into the theology of Islam. It's as if the author made up a bunch of stuff and capitalized off the current controversy. This book is worthless if you want to give a Christian criticism of Islam. One reviewer, John Warwick Montgomery, seems to have fallen for the bait by making the war overseas a "Christian" crusade, even though the AIPAC, neocons and the zionists have their label all over it. Why should Christians incur a war some juwe started? Mr. Montgomery needs to quit inspecting his colon. So much for the educational skills of a bazillion PH.D's.

Zahra Maladan is an educated woman who edits a women's magazine in Lebanon. She is also a mother, who undoubtedly loves her son. She has ambitions for him, but they are different from those of most mothers in the West. She wants her son to become a suicide bomber.
At the recent funeral for the assassinated Hezbollah terrorist Imad Moughnaya -- the mass murderer responsible for killing 241 marines in 1983 and more than 100 women, children and men in Buenos Aires in 1992 and 1994 -- Ms. Maladan was quoted in the New York Times giving the following warning to her son: "if you're not going to follow the steps of the Islamic resistance martyrs, then I don't want you." [Worshippers of Death] Zahra Maladan represents a dramatic shift in the way we must fight to protect our citizens against enemies who are sworn to kill them by killing themselves. The traditional paradigm was that mothers who love their children want them to live in peace, marry and produce grandchildren. Women in general, and mothers in particular, were seen as a counterweight to male belligerence. The picture of the mother weeping as her son is led off to battle -- even a just battle -- has been a constant and powerful image. Now there is a new image of mothers urging their children to die, and then celebrating the martyrdom of their suicidal sons and daughters by distributing sweets and singing wedding songs. More and more young women -- some married with infant children -- are strapping bombs to their (sometimes pregnant) bellies, because they have been taught to love death rather than life. Look at what is being preached by some influential Islamic leaders: "We are going to win, because they love life and we love death," said Hassan Nasrallah, the leader of Hezbollah. He has also said: "[E]ach of us lives his days and nights hoping more than anything to be killed for the sake of Allah." Shortly after 9/11, Osama bin Laden told a reporter: "We love death. The U.S. loves life. That is the big difference between us." "The Americans love Pepsi-Cola, we love death," explained Afghani al Qaeda operative Maulana Inyadullah. Sheik Feiz Mohammed, leader of the Global Islamic Youth Center in Sydney, Australia, preached: "We want to have children and offer them as soldiers defending Islam. Teach them this: There is nothing more beloved to me than wanting to die as a mujahid." Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said in a speech: "It is the zenith of honor for a man, a young person, boy or girl, to be prepared to sacrifice his life in order to serve the interests of his nation and his religion." How should Western democracies fight against an enemy whose leaders preach a preference for death? The two basic premises of conventional warfare have long been that soldiers and civilians prefer living to dying and can thus be deterred from killing by the fear of being killed; and that combatants (soldiers) can easily be distinguished from noncombatants (women, children, the elderly, the infirm and other ordinary citizens). These premises are being challenged by women like Zahra Maladan. Neither she nor her son -- if he listens to his mother -- can be deterred from killing by the fear of being killed. They must be prevented from succeeding in their ghoulish quest for martyrdom. Prevention, however, carries a high risk of error. The woman walking toward the group of soldiers or civilians might well be an innocent civilian. A moment's hesitation may cost innocent lives. But a failure to hesitate may also have a price. Late last month, a young female bomber was shot as she approached some shops in central Baghdad. The Iraqi soldier who drew his gun hesitated as the bomber, hands raised, insisted that she wasn't armed. The soldier and a shop owner finally opened fire as she dashed for the stores; she was knocked to the ground but still managed to detonate the bomb, killing three and wounding eight. Had the soldier and other bystanders not called out a warning to others -- and had they not shot her before she could enter the shops -- the death toll certainly would have been higher. Had he not hesitated, it might have been lower. As more women and children are recruited by their mothers and their religious leaders to become suicide bombers, more women and children will be shot at -- some mistakenly. That too is part of the grand plan of our enemies. They want us to kill their civilians, who they also consider martyrs, because when we accidentally kill a civilian, they win in the court of public opinion. One Western diplomat called this the "harsh arithmetic of pain," whereby civilian casualties on both sides "play in their favor." Democracies lose, both politically and emotionally, when they kill civilians, even inadvertently. As Golda Meir once put it: "We can perhaps someday forgive you for killing our children, but we cannot forgive you for making us kill your children." Civilian casualties also increase when terrorists operate from within civilian enclaves and hide behind human shields. This relatively new phenomenon undercuts the second basic premise of conventional warfare: Combatants can easily be distinguished from noncombatants. Has Zahra Maladan become a combatant by urging her son to blow himself up? Have the religious leaders who preach a culture of death lost their status as noncombatants? What about "civilians" who willingly allow themselves to be used as human shields? Or their homes as launching pads for terrorist rockets? The traditional sharp distinction between soldiers in uniform and civilians in nonmilitary garb has given way to a continuum. At the more civilian end are babies and true noncombatants; at the more military end are the religious leaders who incite mass murder; in the middle are ordinary citizens who facilitate, finance or encourage terrorism. There are no hard and fast lines of demarcation, and mistakes are inevitable -- as the terrorists well understand. We need new rules, strategies and tactics to deal effectively and fairly with these dangerous new realities. We cannot simply wait until the son of Zahra Maladan -- and the sons and daughters of hundreds of others like her -- decide to follow his mother's demand. We must stop them before they export their sick and dangerous culture of death to our shores. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-04-08 07:50:47 EST)

I bought this hopeing for a bit more humor, something to put the FUN back into fundementalism. I didnt get much "funny" from this book, but it did contain alot of good information that people should definately know. However I would not hand this offf to some one that didnt already have a decent concept or background in religious study. It is not an in depth look into Islam, it is a focus on modern apologetic arguemnts and the tenets of Islam that have allowed the "crazy folk" to do what they do and think as they think. The topics range from the argument we hereabout the crusades to politcal developments in the last century to the smoke screen OUR media has used to keep the public from knwoing anything useful about the true nature of the Islamic world and its mission. I sugges tthis book but I suggest others to read along with it such as History of Jihad, and of course dont take everything " as is", the author has a point he's making and at times other investigation and deliberation are sacrificed in order to keep that point.

I like some of the Politically Incorrect books but in some of them "politically incorrect" becomes a synonym for "basically ignorant". This book is a case in point, as is the guide to the Middle East. Cherrypicking quotes, showing off ignorance of both Islamic and Christian history in the ME, and pursuing a politically biased agenda does not a revelation make.

This book was very popular while my unit was in Afghanistan. It's very useful to help wrap your brain around some of the fundamental differences in Islamic vs western thinking. Forget the golden rule forget live and let live. Anyone who thinks they are informed about Islam should at least read this book, agree with it 100% or not.

Judging by the amount of abuse that Robert Spencer receives from islamonazis and their jew-hating allies, Robert Spencer's work at Jihadwatch which embodies as its basis the research of this book, this book and his work are important revelations to the uninitiated of the facts of islamic doctrine in the roots of modern popular islamic fascism.
It is a scholarly work from a man who has a Ph.D. in Islamic Studies. Condemned by his enemies as a Jew, the epithet, of all nazis, islamic or otherwise, in an attempt to obfuscate the truth, Robert Spencer is in fact, not Jewish, and this work is significant in understanding the mentality of islamists and their relentless programs of propaganda as exemplified by organizations such as C.A.I.R. Having read the Koran and a fair amount of world history, I already knew much of what was said in this book. As far as I can tell, the author isn't making anything up. If Islam or any other religion/ideology is worthwhile, then it should be able to stand up to criticism.
I would recommend it. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-02-06 15:46:32 EST)

If (like me) you haven't decided to truly familiarize yourself with Islam at a level past what the weekly news magazines are telling us, this is a great book. I've known that "radical Islam" is the greatest threat to world peace today, but I had always believed that the "extremists" hijacked the religion.
This book, with the help of direct quotes from the Quran and Muslim leaders, paints Muhammad as a brutal psychopath whose sexual deviance was only eclipsed by his lust for blood and Islam as a religion not of peace but of hatred, intolerance, and war. Included are several recommendations for further reading, which I will be doing. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-01-19 09:01:02 EST)

I am buying several copies of this book and I am going to give it to all my old History Professors.I hate the way they propagandizing students into white guilt.
I really an looking into suing my University. The need to as they say " be held accountable for their brainwashing of students. "TREASON" A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and he carries his banners openly. But the traitor moves among those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the galleys, heard in the very hall of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor--he speaks in the accents familiar to his victims, and wears their face and their garment, and he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation--he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of a city--he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to be feared.......Cicero, 42 B.C.E. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-01-10 11:21:47 EST)

Didn't it strike you odd that so many people claim that Islam is a religion of peace, given all the mayhem many of his adherents cause, from Iraq to London, from Thailand to Madrid?
THE POLITICALLY INCORRECT GUIDE TO ISLAM (AND THE CRUSADES) will show you convincingly that Islam is in fact a warrior faith. The author makes a convincing case, citing numerous verses from the Koran and the ahadiths (the religious traditions of Muhammad) to prove his point. (Islamic leaders loath those who claim that Islam is a peaceful religion. Ayatollah Ruhollah KHOMEINI verbatim: "I spit upon those foolish souls who make such a claim." [p. 191]) The book is excellently structured, with chapters named after often heard PC arguments like "Islam is a religion of peace that has been hijacked by a tiny minority of extremists" or "Islam is a tolerant faith". The arguments are then scrutinized, compared to the religious teachings and interpretations of Islamic scholars, and refuted. Due to the book' structure it comes in handy in discussions. The later chapters found particular favour with me. The fashionable politically correct term "Islamophobia" (one of many leftist thought control slogans to stiffle discussion and dissent) is examined and refuted at length. I found the chapter "Critizing Islam may be hazardous to your health" particularly interesting, which scrutinized among other things the Dutch filmmaker Theo Van GOGH's murder. A descendant of the famous artist's brother, Theo van GOGH's documentary SUBMISSION about the oppression of women in the Muslim world had aired two months previously, when on 2 November 2004 a jihadist immigrant shot and stabbed him repeatedly and slashed van GOGH's throat with a butcher's knife. (Just two years before this horrible death, Dutch politician Pim FORTUYN was assassinated by a Muslim extremist.) Prospects are grim: Provided current trends continue in the future Europe will be islamic by the end of the century (p. 222) One has simply to admire the author's courage for writing this book, given that today even harmless cartoons can cause violent riots and mayhem around the globe. Despite all the good thing one can say about this book, it is not flawless. For instance, maps detailing the spread of Islam or the various crusades would have been most welcome. The complete lack of maps is a severe shortcoming in my view. Also I have to admit that I did not agree with everything the author wrote. I can not second his favorable view of Judaism and contrary to Mr. SPENCER I think that some of the Muslim world's grievances are justified; let's not forget that they suffer tremendously at the hand of the zionists! The author's leanings are very biased towards Israel and to call Rabbi Meir KAHANE "a political activist" (page 207) is an extreme white-wash, to put it mildly. Jammed with facts, irrefutable even by apologists suffering Stockholm Syndrome regarding Islamists (if they think I side with them, they won't behead me right away). But facts alone are useless in the hands of us credulous moderns. We tend to believe what talking heads tell us in fact-free orgies of opinion.
Fifty years ago, public schools told us people would evolve, that we are getting smarter. El Wrong-O, as it turns out. Nowadays kids have no knowledge of history, logic, music, math or science. Poverty-case schools? Hardly. Corrected for inflation, we spend four times per kid what we spent in the 1950s. And yet, who do we vote for? Marry? What do we buy! And we geezers are just as guilty of myopic idiocy. Nevertheless, books like this could save us from disaster. More, please! At Amazon prices. why wait? This was an excellent introduction to Islam, explanatory but not trite. The section on the Crusades was a little tough to plow through, but the rest of the book was very readable. I especially loved the boxes comparing the words of Jesus to the words of Muhammad. This is an important book to read given the current state of the U.S.

I read this book to get a better idea of what kind of culture/religion (basically interchangeable in Islam) my wife comes from. She and I have been married for almost 2 years now, and it has definitely been a huge struggle at certain times when dealing with family issues. Her family migrated here more than 2 decades ago from Afghanistan. What a culture shock marrying into this family! My wife became a Christian shortly after we met, and other than her sister who left to live a strict muslim life in Jordan, she was the most devout of her 9 other sisters. Her family thinks she converted for me, but she had been having extremely strong doubts of Islam, and came to her own conclusions. She was kicked out of the house and ostracized from most of her family. As for us, we have been incredibly fortunate to have a church family that has become the family that we need and has been a huge support and encouragement.
One of the things I appreciate about Robert Spencer is that he lays out his argument in a clear, point-by-point analysis, and he uses mostly Islamic sources to make his points (even more-so in his other book I'm reading: The Truth About Muhammad). If you have seen him on TV or on an interview, you will notice also in his writing he leaves out the emotion that can so easily grab hold of anyone addressing the atrocities of such a religion as Islam. He writes in a very level-headed fashion and does not intent to bash anyone. If a person gets offended by what he writes, it's because (1) they're muslim, (2) they believe that Muhammad and the Koran (and Hadith for that matter) are above reproach and criticism, which is ridiculous, (3) and they haven't ever doubted what they believe, because doubt is a sin in itself in Islam. Spencer makes a great comparison between Jesus and Muhammad in each chapter, showing just how polarized each figure is in what they taught. Muslims believe Muhammad is the supreme example of how to live, and there are MANY verses saying that, or saying that if they obey Muhammad, they are obeying Allah. As Christians, we believe Jesus is God. The difference however is that Muhammad wrote his own religious book, and made himself the "goodest" of all people. So if you follow his example, you will be the most "good" person you can be, which is what Islam is all about: your "goodness" outweighing your "badness." The most amazing thing about muslims is that they also believe Jesus lived a perfect life, and even believe He was born of a virgin! So why they would regard Muhammad as more powerful and a better example to follow is beyond me. All-in-all, Americans are fed up with the Politically Correct garbage going around the US about Islam being a "Peaceful Religion", which is exactly opposite of the truth. There have been over 9,000 separate incidents of Islamic terrorist acts since 9/11/01. Like my in-laws, muslims learn everything about how to argue how Jews and Christians have everything wrong, how the Bible is chock full of translational errors because it has been translated so many times, etc. But they neglect to learn about who Muhammad really was, what kind of life he lived, why he had so many wives, why he married a 6 year old and had sex with her 2 years later, why he personally had hundreds of people slaughtered and murdered them himself at times, and why they try to hide it when you bring that stuff up!!?? It's not a secret Muhammad was a terrible person: muslims are either living in utter denial of everything they believe, or they haven't learned of it themselves. My in-laws are the Americanized, "peaceful" muslims (fortunately! or they'd be waging jihad everywhere and calling fatwas on us!), and my wife and I had one final "discussion" on religion during the last week of Ramadan (supposedly the time where muslims make peace with family and do other pious deeds) and two of the sisters told us they would kill us both right now if a holy war were waged... now tell me: peaceful or not? The First Crusade was led by Godfrey, Lord Des Marets of Bouillon. He was my ancestral grandfather and he was a Christian. I have Muslim friends. I think of them as friends first, not as Muslims first. I can't imagine a crusades against them just because of their creed or religious beliefs.
I consider myself very tolerant and fair and non-predjudicial. But if push came to shove and they were compelled by their religion to harm me or treat me less fairly, would they do it? Could they do it? Would the respect be reciprocal? If the premise of this book is correct, then the answer becomes chillingly obvious. A book that troubles your mind and raises similar disturbing questions of your own. (Review Data Last Updated: 2007-12-15 08:17:31 EST)

In this book, the author explains much about Islam, Muhammad, jihad, and terrorism, and the relationships of Islam with the non-Muslim world as seen from the Muslim perspective and as documented in the Qur'an. He shows us that Islam is not simply a continuation of Jewish or Christian traditions as documented in the old and new testaments, as many would have us believe, and that the Muslim's God Allah bears no resemblance to the Jewish or Christian concepts of God. He also explains the history of Islam and shows us that jihad, war against all un-believers, is mandated by the Qur'an and that today's terrorists, financed largely by oil rich Islamic regimes, are in reality carrying on a jihad which has been ongoing for over 1000 years. This jihad, he tells us, is to continue until all other religions, Jewish, Christian, Buddhist, Hindu, etc., have been defeated and Allah is recognized as the one and only God. At that time, there will be peace in the world with all of humanity being ruled by a Muslim state, under Islamic law, and with all remaining un-believers subservient to even the lowest Muslim.
Everyone who values his or her freedom and believes in equal rights for all human beings should read this book. Even politicians, elected officials, and world leaders should read it. But, perhaps that's too much to hope for. (Review Data Last Updated: 2007-12-15 08:17:31 EST)

1. There is one god in Islam! 2. mohammad,Jesus, Moses,David (and others) Peace Be Upon Them are messengers of Allah. 3. Islam was spread by the sword? Islam is one of the fastest growing religions in the world, TODAY. 4. Allah is not the God of Muslims only. He is the God of all people and all creation. 5. The Islamic concept of God is that He is loving, merciful, and compassionate. But Islam also teaches that He is just and swift in punishment. Nevertheless, Allah once said to Prophet Muhammad, "My mercy prevails over my wrath." Islam teaches a balance between fear and hope, protecting one from both complacency and despair. 6. Muslims neither worship Muhammad nor pray through him. Muslims solely worship the unseen and Omniscient Creator, Allah. and the list goes on and on!

who does the author think he is? How dare he accuse my religion and my Prophet? How would he have liked a similar book written about Christianity? Shame on you, Robert Spencer!!!!

As a former government senior policy analyst (and history major many years ago ) I am very familiar with the subject matter. I was prepared for hyperbole, unsupported theses and inaccurate history, but I was quite pleasantly surprised and impressed.
For sure Mr. Spencer's book is politically incorrect and thank goodness for it. My two high schoolers are reading it next. (Review Data Last Updated: 2007-12-15 08:17:31 EST)

The first half of the book is devoted to Spencer's usual rants against Islamic history, culture and religion. Most of what is written here has already been covered in Spencer's other books. Basically he just cherrypicks quotes from the Qur'an and details from the life of Muhammad to present Islam in the most negative manner possible. Nothing especially new or insightful is presented and no effort towards scholarly objectivity is attempted. In fact, Spencer constantly ridicules respected religious scholars, such as Karen Armstrong and Bernard Lewis, as being Islamic apologists. The fact is that Spencer has no interest in depicting Islam in a balanced and truthful manner. But is clearly on an anti-Islamic "Christian Crusade" of his own.
But it is the second part of the book, devoted to Spencer's biased and ignorant analysis of the Crusades, that is the most disturbing and ridiculous. Here he basically attempts to make excuses for one of the most bloody and horrific eras in Christian history and even touts the Crusades as being a noble effort whose only fault was their lack of permanent success in conquering Muslim held territory in the Middle East for Christianity. By the way, I am a secular Westerner who does recognize Islamic terroism as a serious problem and also is opposed to religious extremism and violence of any kind. It is here that I find Spencer to be such a blind and foolish hypocrite. His answer to Islamic violence is to defeat them with Christian violence, even calling one chapter "The Crusade We Must Fight Today". The truth is that Islam fundamentalism is a right wing cultural and religious movement just as is Christian fundamentalism. They both call for the return to a "traditional society" based on conservative, religiously based values - illegal abortion, xenophobia, hatred of homosexuals, treating woman as second class citizens with men as the "head of household", etc. Spencer is even opposed to attempting to communicate and build relationships with moderate Muslims, instead seeing this as some sort of apocalyptic struggle to the death between the forces of "Good (Christianity) and Evil (Islam)." This is a completely absurd perspective and serves no purpose beyond continued violence and warfare. (Review Data Last Updated: 2007-11-02 08:23:35 EST)

Islam is what muslims believe to be so, what do you expect from non muslim and well known hater and Islamophone !
This book is simply a pathetic attempt from a person filled with hate and anger to defame Islam. I advice all readers to get hold of the quran and read it for themselves, and then and only then they can judge for themselves. P.S. THE WORD SWORD WAS NEVER EVER MENTIOND IN THE QURAN, WHILE IT WAS MENTIONED MORE THAN 475 TIME IN THE BIBLE !! (Review Data Last Updated: 2007-10-31 08:38:32 EST)

Following upon the runaway success of its guide to American history, Regnery Publishing decided to follow it with a guide to Islam, which fitted in with the paranoia about jihad taking over the West at the time.
"The Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam (and the Crusades)" covers much the same territory as the author's former book Islam Unveiled. Having read about Muslims' own viewpoints of Islam through investigating the fatwa against Salman Rushdie, Spencer both in Islam Unveiled and this book provides a clear corrective to people who seemed reasonable people when I first read them but are in fact apologists for Islam. His illustration of the amount of violence in the Qur'an is in fact something I knew of very well from reading my father's copy as a child, but Spencer's illustration of how Muslim theologians actually regard the most violent verses as overturning less violent ones is something quite new (to me) and shocking. His overview of the Crusades is essentially a repeat of Islam Unveiled, though for those who read other aspects of the period's history it seems strangely incomplete and not looking at other events of the time like Christianisation of northern Europe. There is also a lot of repetitive ranting about how Muslim rulers' apparent tolerance of other religions resulted from them relaxing Sharia law: Spencer makes no effort to explain why they relaxed it or failed to follow it (or even why they ended such practices). In a similar vein is his explanation of how Islam wiped out Zoroastrianism and Nestorian Christianity consequent upon its eastward spread. This may be a good explanation; however, there are two glaring omissions in this context. The first is the absence of a chapter or two on the response of Hindu and Buddhist Asia to the spread of Islam. Given Spencer's statement that Hindu India is the only nation apart from the West that has successfully resisted jihad, this is surprising. The second is a discussion to the spread of Islam in southeast Asia between the fifteenth and seventeenth centuries. Given that Islam in southeast Asia is often quoted (despite the terrorism in Indonesia today) by many who deny that Islam is by nature intolerant and violent, this omission is all the more serious. Spencer also does consider that modernisation is already seriously weakening traditions in most Muslim nations today, so that some of his claims about the Islamic future of the West come off as too familiar. All in all, "The Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam (and the Crusades)" does offer some remarkably obvious correctives to myths about Islam and the Qur'an, as well as some almost-terrifying revelations about Islam and its founder. Its tone is at times very ranty, however, and there are a number of facets of Islamic history that the book omits to mention. (Review Data Last Updated: 2007-10-24 08:39:00 EST)

This book reinforces the medias hold on our society...once you have been fed something for so long (in this case that Islam is bad) it is quite easy to belief when people start picking apart pieces...i embraced Islam 1 1/2 years ago and it was the best decision i have ever made...i do not prescribe to some of the most socially damaging behaviours of our time drinking/premarital sex/overindulgence in material possessions/environemenatl damage....Islam has put all these things in perspective for me and has given me a foundation and guidance as to how to achieve these things.....
I love all people and respect their beliefs and literature like this CREATES FURTHER DISTANCE BETWEEN HUMANKIND......like we need anymore hate and discrimination.... (Review Data Last Updated: 2007-10-07 03:11:50 EST)

A MUST READ for every person living in Western Civilization! This book exposes this 'religion' as the expansionist political movement it is and the underground quiet revolution that is taking place using our legal system, our schools, our media, our gullibility and the mathematical inevitabilty of population demographics to impose their will on our society.
Even right thinking Muslims who practice only the spiritual and moral precepts by which they live their lives I doubt know the underlying and nefarious principles of Islam. And if they do shame on them for not publicly rejecting them. Eye opening reading. Spend the money to buy this book. The more you know about Islam will allow you see through the politically correct smokescreen that the Islamist apologists (CAIR), our media and our government is putting forth. Our civilization and the future of your grandchildren are at stake. Buy it but more importantly read it cover to cover and then pass it on to a neighbor or friend. A good read that's well argued. To anyone presenting Islam as peaceful, this book cross references the koran frequently and to good effect. Also explains a bit of history prior to the crusades that is commonly omitted from contemporary debate.

You're vfar better advised to buy Spencer's "Truth about Mohammad", in which case don't bother buying this too. Quite a lot of the material overlaps, and "Truth about Mohammad" is a much more serious, thorough and substantial analysis. This book is a bit superficial and trashy in comparison.

This book is nothing more than polemic. Spencer makes countless errors that any student of religious studies would avoid, further, he doesn't provide analysis, he provides opinion. The book contains nothing short of an endorsement of the actions of Bin Laden and Al-Qaeda as it subscribes to their world view and in fact promotes how it is generated and it promotes its acceptance.

Like all of the "Politically Incorrect" books, this one preaches to the choir of narrow-minded righty types who aren't interested in actually learning anything new, but rather wish to see their agendas affirmed in writing.
Typically of these books, quotes are cherry-picked and taken out of context in order to support a predisposition. Anybody with any intelligence whatsoever can see that this book represents nothing more than the logical fallacy of begging the question. (Review Data Last Updated: 2007-09-16 07:58:59 EST)

This is a super book for those who want a quick look into Islam with the intent of taking your research further and getting a little insight into the mindset of who we are dealing with in the war on terror. For those who remember their history, it will be a half decent review of the path of Islam from the 7th century. For those who think only Christians and Jews have more than a few idiots in their ranks, this should open your eyes. Buy the book, then read and heed.

I highly recommend this book. Spencer seems to know what he is talking about and is trying to enlighten us about the dangers that arise from Islam. This is a timely read while the US is trying to combat terrorism. It's good because many people don't understand what we face from the Islamic world and why we face it.

This book is a good starting place for anyone who is uncertain about the origin and history and goals of the Islamic cult. It explains Islam in a realistic manner rather than the typical liberal, idealistic slant that is so prevalent today. It also seeks to compare the drastic differences between Christian and Islamic culture and ethics. If you prefer PC rather than reality, don't read this book. If you believe in keeping "peace at ANY price" this is not the book for you! If you are one who hates Christianity and all that it stands for, don't buy this one.

Spencer pulls no punches. His work is laboriously researched and carefully sourced. He reveals what muslims don't want the rest of the world to know--that their religion is evil, violent and intentionally deceptive from it's inception. He also does an excellent job of debunking the currently circulating myths of the Christian Crusades--that they were nothing more or less than murderous rampages against poor, defenseless muslims. He demonstrates the true purpose and method of those necessary missions. He wisely calls for a revival of the crusade mindset when dealing with this most vile threat to ALL civilization--islam. This book should be required reading for every journalist before they write another word in defense of the blood-thirsty politi-cult from Mecca. It should be required for every elected official in America--especially those who continually mislabel islam as a "peaceful" religion. Pray for Robert Spencer--that the vampires of islam don't get to him before he can wake up the West.

This book is written on a sensitive subject. But the author knows neither Arabic nor has any knowledge of Islamic hisotory or religion. He just knows he hates Islam. It is as useful a guide to understanding Islam as Osama Bin Laden writing on the truth of Catholicism. This country needs good information not biggotry.

This book is very informative and interesting and easily read. I think all who are not Muslim should read it to get a better understanding of this religion and some of the history that has come to pass because of its being. Those of us who are not of the Islamic faith should be aware of what we are really up against. Because not all, but many Muslims lean more toward the fanitic than the moderate views and we (who are not Muslim) are all at risk due to this enormous fraction of powerful fanitics. However, I think this book was written with a slant in mind and when reading we must keep this in mind.
