Ultimate home plans

A very thick book with a lot of home floor plans, but a lot are very similar to each other. I had hoped to see more different styles.

Great views

I think this is a great book if you are just beginning to look for home plans. Building is such an intense process, and having many resources on hand is important. This is a great resource if you have the imagination and creativity to picture the room set up as there are only floor plans included.

Tryig to find a house with everything you want will hardly happen! The New Ultimate book of Homeplans has a variety of sq. ft. homes, suitable for any part of the country, beit CT or TX. I skimmed through the book with ease, marking each page that had a plan that seemed to suit my needs. I then narrowed my search by revisiting each page and 'deleting' the ones unsuitable for my needs.

Each page is well laid out and easy to follow, for a novice like myself. I would recommend this book to anyone looking to build a home from just over 1,000sf to around 6,000sf.

I still have to find a piece of land to build my perfect house, but at least I now have an idea as to which perfect houseplan to choose.

lots of plans

Very large book with lots of plans. Most of the houses were very nice but some of them seemed unfinished and hard to comprehend. When a house is listed as a single level house and most of the bedrooms are on a upstairs or lower level of the house doesn't make much sense. Many good ideas though.

I love house plans

My mother-in-law sent me this book, along with several others that were published by the same company. I was really excited and have really enjoyed the books. There are a lot of great ideas and the plans are easy to read. The only complaint that I have is that since they have the same publisher, the three books share many of the same house plans. I would suggest getting one of them that has the most plans, and then if you want more ideas, to get a book from a different publisher.

Not a very good collection of plans

We are going to hire an architect and contractor to build a home and bought 3 megabooks of plans from Amazon to get some ideas. This was the worst of the lot though by no means as awful as "the house you build" book. My wife and I just didn't like many of the plans. The organization isn't really too useful as the plans are grouped by style, not size (nobody who is building a 3000sf home wants to parse through 1500sf cottages). The color photos are nice and I gave the book 2 stars because there are helpful hints for construction and design interspersed throughout. Check my other reviews for the home books we recommend.
