Uzzi' Reiss's book is an excellent resource for women interested in or taking bioidentical hormones. It gives the details of symptoms and treatment with bioidentical hormones including advantages, side effects, pitfalls, and different forms of replacement. He clearly explains the importance of a complete program of lifestyle and nutrient replacement as well. All the common wellness issues of the menopausal and perimenopausal women are addressed. This book is a must read for all those women interested in learning about what it takes to reclaim their past vigor and maintain vibrant youthful health for the rest of their lives.

Toss those books that routinely advise 25mg to 100mg DHEA on the one hand, and warn about it's poitential to cause cancer on the other. Dr. Reiss explains -simply- how to determine your own individual dose. He wisely notes that -on average- we may only need 10mg to 15mg. Hey, doesnt that make total sense since that is the normal amount of DHEA a pre-menopausal woman makes per day??? I can't remember a book I read in recent times that that was packed with so much useful information. I could go on and on. I promise you won't be disappointed. If nothing else you must read Chia's Story. It's about Dr. Reiss' 17 year old lively chow chow on only daily doses of DHEA and pregnenolone. Lori (60 something) of San Leandro CA

Although I will be eternally grateful to Suzanne Sommers for introducing me to bioidentical hormone replacement therapy, Uzzi Reiss's book is the best one I've read on the subject. It is organized in a way that makes it a fascinating first read, but also so you can use it as a reference for the future. He answered questions I have not been able to get answered elsewhere, and his love of healing and compassion for people, especially women, is evident throughout. I have no doubt that I will live a better, healthier life from having read this book and followed his guidance.

The editorial review states: "Simple lifestyle changes are all women need to reach their maximum potential." Not so much. I would love to give this more stars, because this is a very informative book. I was expecting to be able to run out and buy supplements and start on a regimen that would make me feel better. But that can't happen because the first recommended bio-identical hormone therapy calls for something called "tri-est", which can only be purchased from compounding pharmacies with a prescription from your doctor. I don't know about most other readers, but my doctors all look at me like I have three heads when I suggest trying something "unconventional". Now I have all this information, but no way to put it to use without paying co-pays, doctor hopping until I find one who will work within the offerings of this philosophy. It almost feels worse than not having the information at all! (Well, not really - there are other supplements recommended that are easy to find and could prove to be helpful - CoQ10, DHEA, among others.) Overall an easy read, but only recommended if you have a doc with an open mind.
