People may joke that Tamara Monosoff became a millionaire with the help of suckers like me buying her book. THAT IS NOT THE CASE! She is an extremely intelligent and fascinating woman. If you cannot launch your own business after reading her book, it is in no way Tamara's fault. I am amazed at how much time and effort she obviously devoted to writing this book. Just when I would ask myself a question regarding something she wrote, she was answering it in the very next sentence. The book is FULL of helpful examples, websites, and addresses. I would STRONGLY recommend this book to anyone.

I thought the first thing I needed to do with my invention was make a prototype. NO! Tamera says the first thing I need to do is get a spiral notebook and keep a hand-written ledger of everything I do, chronologically, to protect myself in court. I NEVER would have thought of that.
She explains step by step what to do next and HOW to do it: how to do market research, patent research, etc. But most of all, she gets right to the meat of everything. Tamera does not fill up her pages with fluff to make a dreary fat book. She guides us through the steps and all the way, she recounts how one particular mom handled these steps. She also puts in so many other examples from other mom inventors along the way. It seems so easy, and she is inspiring. When I was a stay home mom, I felt overwhelmed, and out of touch with the professional world. Husbands and family aren't always necessarily supportive. Tamera says don't let any of that hold you back: you are much smarter than you think, so get that idea to market! (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-02-21 10:32:49 EST)

This is such an amazing book. Tons of great information, advice, references, and examples. Reading this book has made me want to start my own business, rather than just try to sell my idea. It is overwhelming, but so exciting at the same time!!! Thank you so much for such an incredible guide!!!!

Tamara works her way though all the steps for bringing a product to market. As the title would suggest her target audience is female but as a male I also found that it was very informative. She presents examples from her own work as well as that of others helping to show how varied and simple products really can be.

I launched a new product line several years ago - learning a lot along the way. I am getting ready to launch a new line of products and decided to read this book. It was a tremendous resource! So many of the answers that I had to dig for and learn the hard (and expensive) way - are contained here in one easy to read book. I highly endorse it. It is also very motivational (as you read the stories of other people) that decided to take action and turn their idea into a successful business. Well worth the price. Very well written.

This book does it all for anyone wanting to create/invent a product that they hope to bring to market. Tamara shares in a very easy-to-read format her experiences, her expertise and saves the rest of us lots of time, energy and money. Her mistakes made along the way combined with her successes that continue to grow provide the reader with a wealth of knowledge about researching, developing, patenting, protecting, marketing (and more!) an idea/invention.
Pair this with the CD sets created by her dynamic and resourceful company mominventors.com, and you will walk away with knowledge you could not even get in business school! I wish I had read this three years ago when I first started my product line development. Thanks Tamara for sharing so freely and so generously to save the rest of us time and money!!! The Mom Inventor's Handbook is a very detailed, hands on guide for taking an invention from idea to reality. There are several things I believe make it so useful: it's relevant and recent (no outdated advice here), it's based on real-world experience from an inventor and the others she has mentored, and it offers myriad resources to implement her advice. The examples of moms who have had success also make it inspirational.
I also liked how the author uses examples that clearly illustrate what she is advising. For examples, she gives before and after pictures of the packaging design for her invention, the TP Saver when illustrating design elements. I interviewed the author about the book on my Internet radio show, EverydayWealthRadio, and found her to be very knowledgeable. If you've been thinking of inventing a product, this is a book you must have. (Review Data Last Updated: 2007-10-13 19:09:01 EST)

I am not a mom so at first I was a little hesitant to buy this book - boy am I glad that I did! I was just looking for an overview on all the steps required in designing a product and getting it into the market place. Seldom, if ever have I been so satisfied that an author comes through with a book that is clear, concise, informative, thorough, full of information, resources and real life examples. I thought this book was WONDERFUL!

I am so impressed with the information that Ms. Monosoff gathered and presented in The Mom Inventors Handbook and I appreciate the organized layout- her book is very easy to read and understand. I'm thankful that she took the time to write this beneficial book to help inventors find their way.
There are many people I know that could use the info she provides, especially in the chapters on research, marketing and how to organize a business. Though they are not all inventors, they are creative women that are opening their own businesses and selling products or services (I know what they're getting for Christmas, if I can wait that long!). I also write children's books so there was a lot of helpful advice for that part of my career too! The "Resources" section and the sample business forms at the back of the book were extremely helpful. Thank you Tamara for having such a well-thought out book and sharing your insights into this complex field! "Someone" once said that it's easier to send a man to the moon than to get an invention to market. I'm not sure if that's true, but what I do know is that anyone interested in attempting to bring an idea to life needs this guide. I was greatly inspired & moved just from reading a few pages from this book. I honestly thanked God today for using people like Tamara Monosoff to reach people like me. My name is Marlena Martin of TX and I searched through countless bookstores for a book that could give me tips on how to go about with distribution, guideance & tips about starting an home based buisness. The moment I pulled this book off the shelf was one of the greatest & wisest desicions of my life. This book reads with ease, it actually gave me confidence & inspired to to go ahead & move forward with my idea. There's a line in this book that actually gave me chills. I cannot paraphase it but it basically said, if you create an idea with your mind, you are therefore an inventor. Never in a millions years have I seen myself as an inventor but at the precise moment, the wheels began spinning in my brain & though I do not feel like Albert Einstein, I do feel like a contributor to the scientific field. If you are an busy mom who "just like me" came up with a wonderful idea (invention) & would like to share your idea with the world. If you want to get started and learn what it's going to take. READ THIS BOOK, it will be money well worth spent. I value it and cannot imagine life without it. Much success to the author, thank you for inspiring busy mom's like me.

Thorough and very accessible, this book has it all for anyone who thinks they might have the "next big thing", or anyone just interested in what it takes to make, market and sell. Very informative, well written and organized. Great pictures, personal stories (this book is not at all "dry"), helpful hints, forms, schedules, etc. I really appreciate how this book lays it all out for you without ever making it feel overwhelming or too daunting a task. Thank you Tamara!

This is hands down the BEST book on taking an idea from conception to market. Tamara spells out each step in easy to read, clear, and entertaining language that demystifies the whole process. She makes the daunting doable. For the first time there is a roadmap for inventors- mothers especially- on how to make your dream a reality. Chalked full of her expert advice from small business loans, to how to get a prototype and source manufacturers, to how to land your product on TV and in magazines.... This book has it all! Tamara's unassuming manner and ability to share with her readers some of her more embarrassing "mommy" moments lifts the veil on how mothers across the country are creating successful small empires from their home office. This book can change your life if you are ready to jump into the world of entrepreneurs!

One of the scariest things is to have an idea and not knowing what to do with it. This book gives very sound advice on how to proceed with confidence. Highly recommend.
