This book is the best. My wife suffered for many years with a thyroid problem which was misdiagnosed by many doctor's. After treatment from Dr. Platt we are convinced he is the real deal. The doctor genuinely cares for his patients and his staff is second to none. We live in Canada, and travel at great cost several times a year to visit the office. Worth every penny. It's a total wellness program with the resources of a nutritionist. If conventional medicine ( drugs ) have failed, then you owe it to yourself to give him a chance. I guarantee success!

Fascinating read! Further your personal education by reading this easy to understand book. You will know just what questions to ask your physician! Not many doctor's are open to this "conservative" way of treatment. What a shame! Atleast now I have an idea as to where, what, and why! And I can pursue issues until I'm satisfied. I recommend this book for anyone who wants to achieve total health.

I truly enjoyed reading this quick book on the use of natural bio-identical hormones and can't wait to try them myself. Dr. Platt's discussions on other related issues was an opener as well, just wish that someone would do a research study on his theories.

This is a wonderful resource for individuals who wish to be educated in their own delicate body chemistry and the affects that chemistry has on their quality of life. I was very fortunate to have this book recommended to me by a woman who was very frustrated with the mainstream medical options she had accepted without favorable results in dealing with her health challenges. I wouldn't know how to rate the book since I still haven't received it. I ordered it 2/5/09, they said it would be shipped in a few business days, well it is 3/8/09 and still no book.........

As someone who has had a terrible time with the hot flashes during my post-menopausal period, I thought this would be the answer to all my problems. As a pharmacist by trade, I was eager to see the biological explanations of Dr Platt. Instead, I read things that contradicted what I had learned in school. I gave the book to a friend (a Board-Certified Endocrinologist) who would only say that physiology doesn't change...and that he was VERY surprised that the author was actually a physician. There is a reason that these products are not readily available...medications that can 'cure' the down-side of menopause would make millions of $$ for the drug companies (and the people who invest in them) who would manufacture them..but ONLY after they had PROVEN their value and safety in the general population. And it's not estrogen that is bad...the dangerous hormone in this bunch is the progesterone..the hormone Dr Platt believes to be the hero of this fairy tale. Read it...but don't believe it.

EXCELLENT book with interesting information and a different approach than other physicians. Quick and easy to read. A little redundant in parts, but bearable.

Dr. Platt's Book "The Miracle of Bio-Identical Hormones is EXCELLENT. It is so wonderful that I have made an appointment with Dr. Platt as a patient. I think this book is Life Changing. I just wish it had been available years ago. I love the book and have purchased 5 copies of the book, which I have sent to family members and I definitely plan to share this book with more family and friends. I can't say enough wonderful things about this book. I would definitely recommend it to anyone and everyone. This is a must read book.

I don't write reviews much, but I had to chime in on this one. This book is very easy to read & understand. It will be the best low cost investment you could spend to begin a life changing result in your health. You will find it hard to put down. You should read it, then make sure all those you love and care about read it. This wellness specialist is a breath of fresh air. He is a "diamond in the rough" for sure! How many doctors have you visited that will sit down with you, side by side, & REALLY listen? (for 30-60 minutes at a time!) Dr Platt is passionate about wellness & will tirelessly search for the cause to your illness, instead of rushing to write you a prescription for a drug (to line their pockets) which will only mask your symptoms. When your hormones are out of balance, you feel it. You will be pleasantly surprised by all the "extra" wonderful benefits that come along with hormone balance. If you don't feel great, why are you putting up with it? Don't you want to know why you feel the way you do? Life it short. Take control of your own health. Nothing will happen if you do nothing. For woman AND men of ALL ages, you will be shocked by the mistakes we are all making in our own health care, and our childrens! This fascinating book, written by an internist who became interested in hormones twenty-five years ago when his mother died of cancer, unravels many mysteries of human dis-ease. I found it to be clearly written and wonderfully informative.

This book purports that bio-identical hormones, which are hormones created from plants but which are identical to those produced by the human body, have been manufactured for seventy years and can be obtained by prescription from doctors and pharmacies, but -- according to my understanding -- they cannot be patented by pharmaceutical companies because they are natural. For that reason, pharmaceutical companies would prefer that patients go on their synthetic drugs -- the ones the companies stand to make the money on! And even though the natural hormones are much better, people are routinely placed on synthetic hormones and other drugs that just mask the symptoms and can actually make the patient much sicker in the long run.

Dr. Platt explains this in detail in his book, though it seems his main objective is to explain how natural hormones (especially progesterone) can prevent and heal so many of our common afflictions: obesity, cholesterol, diabetes, ADD and ADHD (which, Dr. Platt explains, are caused by hormone imbalance), not to mention "women's issues" such as cramps, post-partum depression, and the like.

I found this book to be most helpful in understanding health issues, as well as the modern medical profession. I highly recommend it.

Dr. Platt was very straightforward, kind and encourging!!!! I own a business In Rochester, NY> I am contantly reading and trying to improve my health as well as my clients. Most doctors in Rochester are presribing drugs like synthroid(and many more with mind/body altering side effects)in stead of Armour/Nature throid or sustained release t-3. Dr. Platt is not just a Anti-Aging doctor he is a patient advocate. I liked this book better than Suzanne Summers book on bio-identical hormones. very well written and easy to understand. Thanks for writing this book.

This book contained excellent information backed up by Dr. Platt's clinical practice of how bio-identical hormone replacement is practical not only for mid-aged women, but also men and how hormones may play a role in depression, ADD, and ADHD in children and adults. I found fascinating information in Dr. Platt's book that I have never found in any other books on bio-identical hormones.

I have been so impressed by this book that I am ordering a case of them to make sure that every library in my area has a copy! This information is vitally important for everyone to know. I have been looking for answers to my own health concerns for years, and this book answered them. Within the first 10 pages you can feel the passion and knowledge that Dr. Platt has about Bio-Identical Hormone therapy. I am so excited to meet him in person.
Not only did I find answers for myself, but for many of my friends and family. I reccommend this book to anyone who has been trying to find answers to their health concerns for years. Especially those that have had to fight to have a doctor listen to them!
I have been researching this topic for months, and this book is the most inclusive of all hormone related topics. Dr. Platt explains it in a way that is very clear and exciting at the same time. I knew there was a way to address the body without harmful prescription drugs, now Dr. Platt has clarified why!!

I liked some of the information but it was not technical enough for me. . .Suzanne Somers does a better job in fact and this guy is a doctor. So that is telling. You can get something from it but it is not the best source of info on the subject.
