The Law of Attraction: How to Make It Work For You

This book presents the powerful basics of the original Teachings of Abraham. Within these pages, you’ll learn how all things, wanted and unwanted, are brought to you by this most powerful law of the universe, the Law of Attraction. (that which is like unto itself is drawn). You’ve most likely heard the saying â??Like attracts like,â?? â??Birds of a feather flock together,â?? or â??It is done unto you as you believeâ?? (a belief is only a thought you keep thinking); and although the Law of Attraction has been alluded to by some of the greatest teachers in history, it has never before been explained in as clear and practical terms as in this latest book by New York Times best-selling authors, Esther and Jerry Hicks.

Learn here about the omnipresent Laws that govern this Universe and how to make them work to your advantage. The understanding that you’ll achieve by reading this book will take all the guesswork out of daily living. You’ll finally understand just about everything that’s happening in your own life as well as in the lives of those you’re interacting with. This book will help you to joyously be, do, or have anything that you desire!

"The Law Of Attraction" by Esther & Jerry Hicks is a great book!!!

What I like most in 'The Law of Attraction' is the idea that we were born with desires & dreams originating in our previous lifetimes. As a result in this lifetime we were born into environments that will assist us in bringing our dreams into reality.

Therefore 'work with what is' & go with the flow, since somewhere in your environment is the key that will lead you toward manifestation of your desires. There is no need to struggle against the current or try to go upstream, since what you really want isn't upstream.

'The Law Of Attraction' is a must read, highly inspiring!

Even better together with 'Nexus' by Morrison & Singh, a New Energy Novel that delves deeply into the personal transformational journeys of a fascinating group of characters. Deep, spiritual, true to life (joys, sorrows, challenges, success) & inspiring. Share in the light!

(Hide Review...)  "Convenient" Theories which support Animal Abuse
Reviewer Permalink
I am appalled by Hicks/Abraham's assertion that animals are "happy" participants in their own abuse and slaughter and are continually reborn just so they can willingly offer themselves up for human use. Whew! Well, I guess we don't need to worry then, about the atrocities humans are committing against animals every day on a mass scale with the horrors of Factory Farming. We don't need to bother ourselves with the fate of the BILLIONS of animals who are mutilated, abused and endure lives of "sunless hells" (as Matthew Scully, former Bush speech writer and author of Dominion, describes it) in our country's unfathomably cruel industrialized animal agriculture system.

Hicks/Abraham's theories are speciest, self-serving and support the status quo. They are akin to pro-slavery advocates arguing that black people "wanted" to be owned, enslaved and worked to death. That it was in their own interest to serve their white masters.

These theories are shameful at best, extremely dangerous at worst. I would not recommend this charlatan's book or DVD to anyone who cares about animals or believes in the importance of personal responsibility.

So many things have been drawn into my life, what a relief to know we can have some say in what is coming our way. This book addresses the spiritual law that governs why we get what we get. I married a man that came back into my life from 40 years ago, I created a career I love, and continue to fine tune the process by which that which I desire continues to come my way. Great book that clarifies with certainty how the law of attraction works.
Another book to read over and over again.Enjoy!

I think this is a great book to get on CD, simply because (at least for me), you need to hear these things more than once to really understand what they are saying. Since listening to these tapes, I have seen amazing things happen financially and otherwise in my life, all because of the teachings of this book and similar ones. The understanding of this "law" can come from almost any book on the subject, but each time you hear it you are bound to understand more and more.

Look at it this way- it's like anything- you will never completely understand any topic the first time you read it or listen to it. How many textbooks did you need to "read" to get a degree in marketing (or whatever your degree was)? A ton, and 12 of them were on different areas of marketing! But the benefit of this learning is that you can see the results in your life immediately.

Just apply what it is saying, learn from that, and then re-read the book. You will find things you missed the first time that directly apply to how you "messed up" the first time.

I thank the Hicks for getting this out there, because I know that The Secret was influenced by their teachings to a large extent, and so were many of the people featured in the movie.

But there are a few others that I have read that just enhance your understand of this topic.
The Science of Getting Rich
The Master Key System by Charles F. Haanel
The Attractor Factor: 5 Easy Steps for Creating Wealth (or Anything Else) from the Inside Out
The Secret

I would recommend all of these

I was pleased with the book but not pleased that for some reason I was sent THREE different books. All I did was bring up three different books to check on their price and without any further processing on my part, we receiv3d all three. I was a bit upset. The one book wss to go to my grandson. They decided to keep two and returned one. Now I am afraid to search for books as I feel they will atomatically be sent to me without any actual ordering on my part. I do not understand how this happened.

The Dhammapada starts out with this:
We are what we think,
All that we are arises with out thoughts...
The scientist/mystic Emanuel Swedenborg (1688-1772), who influenced practically everyone who shaped modern history, said it like this: You are what you love, and you love whatever you are giving our attention to.
Both of these writing on the Law of Attraction predate even Amazon.com!

Does the law of attraction work? Yes. But don't be surprised if, as written in this book, it doesn't work. There are some key elements that have been left out, and a lot of questions that remain unanswered. One example is, if you become proficient at manifesting whatever you desire, you can circumvent all your life lessons, even the really challenging ones. Hmmm. Wouldn't that be nice!

This book is a great introduction into Spirituality. If you want to know what's missing from this book, it is up to you to continue your search. And don't expect to be doing your search in a red Lamborghini you manifested into your garage either.

I purchased the book version of "The Law of Attraction" first and although the material is excellent, I had trouble getting through it. I only have short amounts of time available for reading and I often found myself having to re-read sections as a reminder of where I had left off. I was able to listen to the CD set in my car and with my iPod and WOW! I was able to absorb the teachings so much better; and there is so much to absorb. Since much of the book is documenting spoken dialog, it flows much better as an audio book. You`ll want to listen to the CDs over and over again, as I have. Each time I do, something new just "clicks." I still use the book as a quick reference.

This book is strange. I thought that is would be a book about the "Law of Attraction" which is an interesting subject to discuss. Instead, it ends up being some weird book about a woman who can "Channel" some guy named Abraham. The book is deceiving because one assumes that the Abraham they are talking about is the Abraham people know from the Bible, not true with this book. This book is encoded with new age mysticism and is quite similar to the whole "Ramtha" scheme. I do not believe that these people channel any type of being, their credibility is nil.

This book came to me in ways that, thinking back, are amazing in themselves. Just having it shows the power of the Laws of Attraction. Within the first weeks of owning it, I was put to the test (so to speak) and in using this books guidance I was able to receive the result I wanted in a way I'd never tried before. My eyes are open wider. I see things differently. Relationships are improving. Life is improving. It's truly amazing.

This is my first book by Esther, Jerry and Abraham. It will not be my last!

I've been following Abraham and the Hicks now for just over two years. A lot of people "claim" to channel other beings or entities, but I truly believe this is the real deal. What is offered up in this book is simple, easy to understand and doesn't come with a "don't do this, don't do that..." what it comes with is what you can do to make your life better.

Everything I have read by these folks is gold, true blue and on the up and up. I read and re-read every book I have from them, and I have three!

I enjoy being uplifted, inspired and convinced to follow what makes me feel good. Thank you, Abraham, Jerry and Esther!

This book teaches and reflects on one of the most powerful ideas from the Teachings of Abraham, that what you have in your life is what you have attracted to be a presence in your life. In other words, you create a way of life for yourself by your intentions. The teachings of Abraham are messages the authors, Esther and Jerry Hicks have received over a period of time and which they have transcribed for millions of readers to learn from and discover how to manifest a way of life for themselves they had only dreamt of previously.

I especially found the chapter "The Art of Allowing:Defined" to be insightful and useful in my day to day living in New York City. The idea that what I resist or not allow only produces more unwanted things is so true. For example I noticed the more I wanted a car horn to stop honking and the more attention I gave to it, the louder and more invasive the sound became. Once I relaxed and put my attention into how I was walking and my surroundings, the less loud the horn sounded and less invasive it became for me. Soon disappearing from overtaking my thoughts, even though it was still sounding. In other words, the more I allowed the honking of the horn, the less bothersome it became to me.

Two other books I highly recommend reading if you enjoyed "The Law of Attraction" are written by Ariel and Shya Kane and called "Working on Yourself Doesn't Work: A Book About Instantaneous Transformation" and "Being Here: Modern Day Tales of Enlightenment." The Kanes present a transformational approach to living which produces a meaningful and satisfying way of life. Both the Kane's and this book are insightful, practical and easy to follow guides for you to become the author of your own truly magnificent life.

I thought it was strange that "Abraham" first sent his messages by having the author write out letters with her nose. Yet, I still continued with the book, even after reading that quirky part. After all, a message doesn't have to be bad just because it came from someone's nose...I tried to be open minded.
But, as I continued with the book, I had some issues with the message of the Law of Attraction in itself - which is not unique to this book (I also read The Secret about a year ago). It seems like it goes a little too far in saying that people who are victims of crimes and prejudice bring them on to themselves - with their thoughts. They seem to be blaming the victim, which I am not at all comfortable with. I got a little more than halfway through the book and did not want to finish it.

Please research Seth, Jane Roberts and ouija boards. Ask yourself what or
who is speaking through Esther. Is this wisdom true or are you being
deceived? We are at at time where anything is believable. Really pray
about this before you experience "Abraham", it's not from the Bible.
If this is deception, be careful not to let this in your eyes and ears.
Pray for discernment in Jesus name our deliverer.

I recommend the Law of Attraction. At first glance it may seem like there is nothing new here, that its all been said many times, many ways. The teachings are presented in an interesting, clear format and in a step by step application if one chooses to apply. The more one studies what is given, the deeper and more substantive it becomes. As a result of reading and studying this book I became more aware of thoughts, beliefs, feelings and behaviors that no longer serve me. As I read it helped to pull out of the vapors and put in concrete form in writing, ideas, feelings and thoughts that needed further elucidation, especially those that engendered resistance. I was able to see more clearly where I allow the Law of Attraction to work and where happenings occur by default.

The book addresses three universal Laws. First Law being the Law of Attraction, stressing that an understanding of the first law is necessary for the other two laws to be meaningful and powerful. The Law of Attraction and its magnetic power brings to us the essence of what we focus on, whether it is something we want or do not want. When this Law is understood by us, we are given steps to learn how to attract to ourselves more of what we want to experience.

The second Law, The Science of Deliberate Creation tells us that we get what we thing about whether we want it or not. The book gives us ways of becoming more in control of how we create, by deliberately choosing our thoughts and feelings. We are also given an understanding of how we create by default, when not understanding these Laws and their power.

The third Law, The Art of Allowing says it is most important we allow others to be who they are as we allow ourselves to be that which we are. In others words it's very important we be free in our lives and choices and be intentional in what and when we attract. It is also important to allow others to be free as well. Its not our job to try to fix others to our liking. Also others when we understand the laws cannot come into our lives without us allowing them at some level. Being a psychotherapist I frequently have couples come for assistance and the primary focus seems to be one person demanding the other person change to think feel, behave more like them. This is an example of the stifling yoke of "not allowing".

I particularly liked the Creative Workshop Process. Remembering to go into the suggested daily 15-20 minutes with an uplifted feeling was helpful. It made an enormous difference from the way I usually go into meditation or review. More often than not there is "time pressure", and anxiety runs the show. The deliberate intent of the uplifted energy was powerful enough to override the time issue and it became a more meaningful experience. Allowing becomes easier after such practice.

It occurs to me that the Law of Attraction may work well for a segment of society experiencing worthiness, clarity and fairly high sense of self. As a psychotherapist I see people who are struggling with depression, shame, low self esteem, grief etc. At such times it is difficult for a person to lift their spirits into a higher frequency. In our consciousness we are quite similar to icebergs with 10% being our conscious mind leaving 90% underwater as our subconscious mind. We may consciously say we desire something but our subconscious may be conflicted. Our subconscious runs the show.

There may be people who blame themselves yet again when they don't or can't accomplish what the book promises. Change is a process and it usually takes time. Sometimes people need professional help and additional tools in order to feel worthy of what they really desire. I wish the authors had given more time and space to this issue.

I finished this book about 6 months ago. It was my first taste of Abraham, which I would not have found without my roommate's interest in Ramtha. Abraham's material seems to sit much better with me than Ramtha.

The incredible thing about this book, is that I could feel the truth in it, and my emotions and desires improved significantly as I read through it. It was almost like getting a taste of what it was like to be a kid again, when you have that pure desire and unbridled energy and passion for life.

It was just a taste of that, but enough to know that so much more is around the corner for me. After reading this book, and since having listened to their audio and video materials, I know that I've found the key that I've been looking for my whole life!

Nothing else that I investigated in life ever quite fit the bill: Religion, agnosticism, and various 'new age' ideas. They all had a piece of the puzzle, but not the key.

Well this is it! And it is so simple, and so mind blowing, that I can fully understand why most will not accept it, and instead choose to mock it. But this IS the secret! We must COMPLETELY unlearn everything we've ever learned, and become like children again, in the heart and the mind, because when we entered these bodies, we were still pure and connected. Only through negativity training our entire lives have we lost our way.

Somewhere in the bible, Jesus said something like, "You must become as the children are". I believe this is what he meant.

A ladyfriend of mine was quite hooked on "Abraham," and wherever we went in her car or mine, she always had to have the "Abraham" tapes playing. It drove me crazy!!

And pushed a lot of my buttons. The very idea that one could resonate and just attract desired things, people, events into one's life seemed preposterous. After all, I had been brought up in the "you must work hard for what you get" school. Still, after being a sort of captive audience of one in listening to these tapes, I decided to at least be open minded and give the principles (Law of Attraction, Law of Deliberate Creation, Law of Allowing, Segment Intending) a try.

And although I was a bit peeved at being "forced" to listen to these tapes, I did notice that my friend the "Abraham" follower seemed amazingly happy just about all of the time---AND she seemed able to "manifest" positive events, people, and things into her life in an almost magical way with very little apparent effort.

It is not about ONLY "thinking positive thoughts," as some people have critiqued. Action IS required to manifest what you want in your life! But it is not mere blind effort, but a kind of INSPIRED effort, guided by remaining in RESONANCE with your desire instead of imagining all the reasons why it cannot be realized. (And, upon honest examination, most of us spend the greater part of every day imagining or thinking about "problems" rather than positive manifestation or solutions.)

So I began, rather grudgingly, to try out some of the principles. To my immense amazement--they worked! As I assimilated the principles and tried them out in daily life, I was able to "manifest" a relationship with a wonderful, successful lady, two beautiful houses to live in, a luxury car, etc, etc.

Much more importantly, I was able to tremendously improve and deepen my relationship with my son, and give my mother tremendous comfort during her final days.

As I see it now, using the principles of LOA described in this book/CD set to manifest greater material abundance into one's life is a great first step, but only a way to hone your skills. There is a much bigger game to be played, in using mind/spirit energy and intention creatively to enhance your life and relationships on all levels.

Also, this detailed description of LOA and how to apply it is a perfect sequel to "The Secret." As good as The Secret is, it is quite elementary and leaves out numerous critical distinctions that are necessary to really make LOA/The Secret work effectively in real life.

I have continued using the Law of Attraction for over 10 years now, and am still amazed at how it works in mysterious ways. I have also gone to several "Abraham" seminars with Esther and Jerry Hicks and can say that they both exemplify the principles of "Abraham" fully, and embody a wonderful positive energy.

I think this LOA set is some of the clearest and most usable spiritual teaching available today. I can't recommend it highly enough. I would recommend that the reader get the CD audio version, because it carries a special energy with Esther's voice. At first her slightly unusual intonation and accent felt somewhat strange to me, but I soon got used to it. And now just hearing a few minutes of one of the CD's in this set immediately puts me "on frequency" and attuned to LOA during the times I get distracted or forget it. And it is great listening in your car, just to keep attuned. YES, I now ENJOY listening to these audios!

If you are open to a new viewpoint about Life and want to experiment with these principles (no need to accept them all at once---just take them and playfully experiment with them), you will find your life marvelously enhanced through this book or CD set.

Go for it!!

Yes, the "movie" made the law of attraction a household word, but Abraham/ Esther brings true life to the law. It does address the little touched on concept of action, that the "Secret" misses. Having different points of view, our minds can process and gleen the inspired information. This is where science and spirtuality meet, there is still shakey ground, but Esther and Jerry preceed in a elegant and classic manner. If one wants the full impact of these books, buy all three and read a chapter an evening from each. This will surely awaken inspiration and intuition. Honor a loved one, give the book as a gift for the holiday's

I'm thrilled to have found this and I'm especially glad I got the version that combines the three universal laws: Law of Attraction, Law of Deliberate Creation, and Law of Allowing. The Law of Attraction: The Basics Of The Teachings Of Abraham. My life is already beginning to change and for those who are cynical, if it makes you feel better, you can think it's because in keeping positive thoughts in my mind about about the things I want in my life, I'm keeping myself in a happier frame of mind. But I had a bizarre experience of receiving something within 24 hours of getting and listening to these CDs and thinking about that item over and over, and if I (and I'm a cynical person) had any doubt before, I sure don't know. I highly recommend this -- the audio version since I think things are more powerful when heard -- to anyone who wants to change his/her life for the better.

This book is awesome! Reading this book was so moving. Then I decided to get the audiobook to reinforce what I had already learned from the book. And by listening to the audio gave me so much more dynamic insight that I had not observed before. It inspired me so much that I decided to buy the DVD "Abraham, The Secret behind "The Secret". All I can say is WOW for all of the Hicks'es materials.

In the foreword by Neal Donald Walsch, he said to throw away all your other books, cancel all workshops and seminars, as this book says it all. Well I was quite skeptical. After reading the book I have to agree with him. Right now this book is it. When I first started reading it I thought it was just a repeat of the cds word for word... then I read further into it and Pow! It explains so much and answers many questions. It gives real tools to get started on the rest of your life. It tells us why stuff happens even though we didn't invite it in (or did we?) Why we're still in lack or unhappy or whatever our hard luck story is. It tells us why ... and then how to get us on the right track. I'm still glad I read all those other books because they prepared me for this one. Thank you Abraham. Oh, and before you think I must be related to them... no I'm not. I've never met them or been on their seminars but I sure would like to.

(Hide Review...)  Great basic for law of attraction

I have read "Ask and it is given" before this book. I found the information very intresting but I still felt that something was missing. However, this book has done an amazing job in provide basic for someone interested in law of attraction. Some parts of the book are quite difficult to digest. (while I am very fascinated by the book, I fell asleep more than 4 times during my reading.) But I think it's normal to digest new information. Keep reading! It worths it!

I also find that some contents are connected with Bhuddism. Being a born Bhuddist, I feel that this concept is the same discovered by Bhudda more than 2500 years agao. But now it is written in modern manner to be easier understood. I really appreciate Abraham-Hicks works. They made me understand concept of Bhuddism much better. But even if you are not Bhuddist, this book is still a great book for you. My suggestion is if you find it's hard to believe in Abraham-Hicks' works, you should explore Bhuddism and you will find that some of the teachings are very similar.

I highly recommend this book for everyone who wants better understanding of Law of Attraction.

(Hide Review...)  NOW I finally get it...Universal Laws
Reviewer Permalink
Although this book is titled The Law of Attraction, it teaches three Universal Laws: Law of Attraction, Law of Deliberate Creation, and Law of Allowing.

It's the understanding of the first two, that lay the foundation for the third, Law of Allowing, and Law of Allowing is the key to freedom.

I can't say enough about how the information in this book makes total sense once you grasp it - you first use Law of Attraction to set the intention, then Law of Deliberate Creation to focus on what you want and be solution oriented vs. problem oriented. Then Law of Allowing removes the resistance and allows you to pay attention to events, situations and people who show up. The audio program is also awesome.

Another book that talks in great detail about 7 Natural Laws of the Universe is John Assaraf's book - Having It All: Achieving Your Life's Goals and Dreams...

I had to give at least one star, but my real rating is 0. If you are a Christian, "DO NOT" buy this book. Abraham is not the Abraham of the Bible, but a spiritual guide. Even if you are not a Christian, if you follow this route, you are opening yourself up to disaster. There are no good spirits (spiritual guides)out there to guide you; they are all from the devil. His job is to kill, steal and destroy. These principles might work initially, but you'd better watch out.

(Hide Review...)  Buyer beware: This book is poorly written and might give you a headache or irritability
Reviewer Permalink
I was excited to try this book after throwing out my copy last year. Last year, I could not get into it at all!!! The writing seemed so terrible at the time. I thought, maybe after fixing some things within my brain, I'd start fresh with Abraham-Hicks.

Again, this book was a waste of money. I stopped reading after page 88. I realized the writing was giving me a headache. Or, it was so bad, I was getting irritable. I was expecting to really learn a lot from this book, as many people have praised it.

But no, it's too verbose! I think the Hicks can condense the BASICS into a 50 page book. After all, how can it be BASIC if it's sooo verbose. Jerry and "Abraham" both speak so fancy-schamncy. For example, on page 53, Jerry asks, " To what degree are we a part of what someone whom we've associated with has attracted (wanted or unwanted)? In other words, how much does another person that we're associated with bring into our life what they've attracted- the things that we want or the things we don't want?"

Abraham just repeats the same simple concepts over and over with such terrible wording- and that's especially where I got irritable. I was like, "Come on, just keep it simple!"

You could learn a lot from the table of contents- a short description of each point. The LoA isn't as difficult or intense as the Hicks present it. Skip this one!

PS- I, too, rolled my eyes at the Hicks past- Ouija boards, channeling, automatic writing- sheesh!

The Law of Attraction: The Basics of the Teachings of Abraham

Easy to read, easy to understand, and amazing information on the law of attraction. The "teachings" in this book are being channeled through, and the words are loving, wise, non-judgmental, and to me unique in approach. It is really a message of joy.

I have been looking for this kind of guidance, and was thrilled to find some new ideas as well as the reaffirmation of some old ones. After trying some of the suggested actions, I'm beginning to see proof that this stuff really works.

(Hide Review...)  Good info, but the Q & A format with Jerry/Abraham got old
Reviewer Permalink
Previously I listened to CD's with Esther and Jerry and their interactions with Abraham and truly enjoyed them ([...]). In reading the book, I was able to get through about 1/4 of it before I grew tired of the Q & A format between Jerry and Abraham. Yes, Jerry did (over his life) create a list of questions that he wanted to know about in the Universe. Yes, he asked those questions of Abraham (a spiritual entity that is channeled through his wife, Esther Hicks) and wrote down the answer(s) he received. I guess I would rather have the answers summed up and written in a continuous paragraph format since that would make it easier (for me) to read (however, I'm not the one writing the book). Obviously, everyone is different and some individuals may be able to follow the format just the way it is. I did find "The Secret" much easier to read since the concept was concisely spelled out.

I was drawn in to the Law of Attraction when I first saw the movie "The Secret" almost a year ago. After that, I wanted to know more, I wanted to learn more. I found this book and I couldn't put it down. Of course I was skeptical at first, anyone would be, but I gave it a chance. Whether or not you believe the source of these writings it is a great tool in the study of life. I recommend any of the Abraham-Hicks media. If this book is too much of a jump for you, I recommend watching the movie, "The Secret" first.

For those familiar with the teachings of Abraham, this is a great review of how the Law of Attraction works. As always, Abraham, Esther and Jerry present this fundamental, life-enhancing information in a way that is authoritative, yet friendly, personal and very clear. And, again as always, they fill in the bigger picture that was presented so superficially in The Secret video. This is not just the latest fad in positive thinking: this is getting at how the very Universe works and how we can consciously apply the Law of Attraction in deliberately creating our experience in this life.
