This is an interesting read for kids over the age of 10, and for adults as well. The main character depicts a Jewish teenager named Daniel living at the same time as Jesus. Daniel is deeply disturbed over the Roman occupation of Israel and the death of his parents. The book provides an excellent forum to teach children about religious tolerance and getting along with others. The characters are complex, allowing for deep literary analysis, and the historical context is educational, something that adolescents will associate with, given their background in world history. The story is both endearing and stimulating, with an active plot. My 11 year old is planning to read it again.

I read this with two of my children a handful of years ago and just recently, for the second time, with my youngest. It's even better than I remembered! Others have summed up the plot very well, so I'll just say, this is an excellent book!

My 12 year old son and I read this book for his (homeschool) English class. I read it with him as it was a hard read for him. But we both really liked it and as we got further into the book we didn't want to put it down, but read as much as we could. It has a good lesson about not keeping revenge and hate in your heart. It is set in Jesus' time and he is a character in the book. We are not Christians, but loved the book's lesson and story line and I was glad to discuss the topics the story line brought up.

An excellent book for teenagers, and also for adults who want to discover the social climate of Jesus time. The discriptions around the Lake of Galilee lets one feel as if there are there. It's a fast read and one that you don't want to put down. We distributed approximately 30 of these books during the Lenten Season, excellent reports returned.

This is one of the greatest books i have ever read. I read it over and over. The compassion of Jesus, the pride of life, and the love of friends compels me to tears every time. I highly recommend this product.

Daniel is a zealot; he lives when Israel was under Roman domination, and he REALLY hates the Romans. In the beginning Daniel lives with a band in the mountains, their goal it to kick the Romans out. In a small town nearby lives Daniel's grandmother and his sister, who is demon possessed. When his grandmother dies he is stuck caring for his sister. Daniel hugely dislikes that.
It is a very good book; thoroughly deserving the medal it received. The story was deeply touching, hate vs. love. Daniel was one of the deepest characters I have read about in the past six months, he was very well developed, not exactly sympathetic, but it was great to read about his spiritual growth. Though it is a wonderful book it had a few flaws, like Samson, it seemed like he was cut off, he was very shallow. Also Malthace, in the beginning it seemed like she would be a major character them she just disappears. I didn't like the ending, it was a hopeful ending, but it seemed it be cut off somehow, it left me wondering about a dozen different things. Despite those flaws I would highly recommend this book to anyone. (Review Data Last Updated: 2006-01-17 15:34:29 EST)

After witnessing his parent's crucifixions by the Romans, young Daniel bar Jamin makes a vow of vengeance. As he runs away from his village, he works with a group of zealots to destroy the Romans!
As Daniel works against the Romans, back in his village Ketzah his grandmother is dying and his sister is possessed by demons. Going back to help and nourish them would mean giving up working on his vow for a while... is it worth it? The Bronze Bow is a historical fiction. I think that the Bronze Bow is a book that you would read if you were forced to, like as a school requirement. After a few chapters though, you begin to enjoy the book and even look forward to reading the next chapter. (Review Data Last Updated: 2006-01-17 15:34:29 EST)

Is about a boy named Jole and his princey friend Daniel and his sister. They were playing one day along the town streets when they met their enemy ... Rosh, an evil person one day and the kids saw them and jumped them. Rosh got away but just when Jole thinks Daniel's his friend, Daniel joins Rosh in his reign of terror.
I give the Bronze Bow 5/5. It was exciting on every page. You really never wanted to stop because it was so interesting. I was reading the old version and it was probably more interesting than the new version. (Review Data Last Updated: 2006-01-17 15:34:29 EST)

Daniel an eighteen year old runaway slave joins a "raggle taggle" band of bandits lead by a famous outlaw Rosh. But as soon as his grandmother dies he must go to the village to take care of his sister.During his time with Rosh Daniel befriends to twins, Joel and Malthace. Daniel goes back to the village to take care of his demon-possessed sister.Daniel simply hates the romans and takes a vow with Joel and Thacia(Malthace) to avenge his father`s crucifixion. But a strange rabbi named Jesus teaches him only love can bend a bow of bronze.Thacia must choose a husband and she invites Daniel to see her dance at a festivel. She asks but Daniel refuses. But then Jesus arives at Daniel`s house! He amazingly heals Leah!(Daniel`s sister). Now Daniel free from hate and revenge can except the gift from Thacia.
Honestly,I think this is one of the best books I have read! Sincerly, Eliot Kaufmann Third Grader (Should be fourth birthday after cutoff date) (Review Data Last Updated: 2006-01-17 15:34:29 EST)

Those of you who are considering reading, or buying this book should get it from a library or a friend and try it out. You may not like it, but give it a shot first. Everyone has their own opinion or view on these type of books. If you do or don't like it, it doesn't matter. If you want to give your opinion, go ahead, but allow others to form their own and don't tell them whether they should read it or not.
After reading several of these reviews I've found that people who are forced to read something, have short attention spans, or prefer short or action-packed books should avoid this one. Make sure to look at this book and judge it by how well it fulfills it purpose: harmless ENTERTAINMENT. Look at it with a mature objective view. I personally think its wonderful, but it depends on you. Bye!! (Review Data Last Updated: 2006-01-17 15:34:29 EST)

Adventure, bloodshed, romance, love, and religion. The Award winning novel, The Bronze Bow, by Elizabeth George Speare, combines all of these components. The story, which is set in Galilee in the year 31 A.D., tells of a boy named Daniel who is caught between fighting the Romans, whom he hates, and following the teaching of love from Jesus. Daniel is forced to choose and his decision will affect the rest of his life. The combination of historical accounts, biblical accounts, and the author's diction, creates a vivid picture, and a new mystery is unfolded with each turning of the page.

In The Bronze Bow by Elizabeth George, a Newbery book, a young boy named Danniel is in a town conquered by Romans. He is in a group of people who are trying to build an army strong enough to drive the Romans out of Israel. He is on a mountain with a bunch of bandits when he meets two village children named Joel and Thace who become good friends.
He asks them to tell a man named Simon to come up to the mountain. When Simon comes he takes Danniel to church to see someone named Jesus who is a preacher. Eventually the children start a band of rebels. As the teacher Jesus becomes popular Simon joins him. Danniel meets Jesus a couple of times and Jesus says that only if he worships God will he be rid of the Romans. As Danniel struggles to do what's right his sister falls ill. Thace finds Jesus and brings him to Danniel's house. Jesus heels Danniel's sister Leah. When Jesus heels Leah it convinces Danniel that hate is not the way to live. This relates to my theme of survival because of Danniel trying to survive in the Roman Empire. (Review Data Last Updated: 2006-01-17 15:34:29 EST)

I read a book called The Bronze Bow. It was a really good book. It is set when the Romans were ruling Isreal. It is about a boy named Danial. His parents were killed by the Romans. He ran away from home and found a person who is trying to build up and army to drive the Romans out of Isreal. Danial joins that group and lives up in the mountains with that group until one of his friends from school comes up on the mountain. He leaves to go to his grandmother and sister's house. He sees all of his friends (including Joel who went up on the montain at first) and sees his grandwother and sister. They have very little money and are in very bad shape. After a while he goes back into the mountain because he does not want to live in his grandmothers old bad house. After a while he gets a note saying that his grandmother is dying so he goes back to see his grandmother. He stays there for a bit and then his grandmother dies. His friend leaves and bestows his house and his job to Danial. Then Joel moves but not very far away. Danial and Joel start up a little army of kids to help Rosh. Then Danial and Joel see Jesus. Joel gets captured and Danial goes to Rosh for help but Rosh won't help because he doesn't think Joel is important.
