Well, it depends on what you want to use this book for. It's great if you're a bartender at a restaurant and someone orders a cocktail that you've never heard of before, but for the home mixologist there are better books. You will know how to make every cocktail on the planet but not all that well and not with any flair!

out of these six books Stephen Cunningham's Bartenders Black Book is my favourite one!!
I work on a cruise line as a bartender almost six years and this book is under my shelf, part of my tool kit!!!

My husband and I decided to "stock our bar", but we didn't have a good book to use as a reference tool to make use of the variety of things we purchased. This book is easy to use and easy to follow.

This is an informative book that is fairly easy to use. You can search based on what kind of alcohol you have, if you want frozen or mixed drinks, and then just look up the drink (they're all listed in alphabetical order, regardless of what type of drink it is). There are also suggestions on drinks and tipping bartenders. And there's a nice section about wines, too (although I'm not quite sure how to read that). Great buy!

great drink recepies in this book. i love the binder. all books should be bound this way. bring your reading glasses as the writing is fairly small.

This book is a must-have for all professional bartenders. For non-professionals it is a must-read because you will learn a lot!

This is a very good drinks book with lot of drinks, and listed by types of drinks eg if you got a bottle of vodka you can fine about 50 drinks that can be made from that single bottle with the exception of a few other ingredients that have to be bought. The only down side there isn't any pictures to see how the drinks should look.

This is the all you could ever want and need bartending book. I use the previous edition at work and like the previous edition this one is just as great. It's the black book of black books and i love having it at home.

I believe the only thing they added to this book was updating some of the intro - "how to keep customers happy" "how to get good tips" "who you should be tipping out" and such things...just basic things you need to know behind the bar. They also added more drink recipes. Which is awesome, people are always comming up with new drinks and now it has everything from the previous edition plus 100's of more drinks.

I use THIS newer edition for at home. It does have every drink you could want to make from a simple martini, to margaritta, to some drink i made once that involved an egg white.

The basic layout of the book is:
Intro and a bit about bartending
Drink recipes in order by name: ABC's people
Information about Wine
Pour Amounts
Bartending Lingo i.e. "Sloshed" "Hammered"
Bartending Terms i.e. "Perfect" "Pint Glass" "Neat" "Jigger"
And my favorite the back! Where you can look up drinks by ingredient: Rum, Flavored Vodka, Liquers, and basically everything else.

It's just an all around great book to have on hand and if you give it a chances you'll find you refer back to it often. At work or at home. I RARELY need to use another book when i'm behind the bar. And it's the only book at home.

I highly suggest getting this book if you're ANYONE. New to bartending, or a bartending pro. Stay at home mom, or a drunken fool. It's easy for anyone to use.

This book is great for quickly learning the drinks that everyone orders and the drinks almost no one would ever order (anyone for a schoolbus - beer, milk & OJ?) written by an egotistical and excessively chauvinistic fop. Note to S.K.C. - leave out the bragadoccio, rampant (hetero)sexism, demoded chivalry and other such ridiculously trivial commentary and you'll have a great book.

This is a great gift for nearly anyone who's a bartender or who likes to have a good time. I got this for a friend of mine, and I'm sure she will like it.

The book not only has alcoholic recipes, but also frozen, hot drinks, and more. It also has an index in the back that has drinks by ingredients.

The best book I've ever seen for the widest variety of drinks. Missing a couple more popular North American drinks such as a vodka 7 or a bottlecap, but still more drink names then you will ever need. Simple and easy to find what you are looking for, the cleverly written book is a staple for any aspiring bartender.

This latest version is very good. There are many different versions of the same drink available. I occasionally find a drink that's not in there, but not too often. I actually bought 2 - one for the bar and one for me! I think it's probably the best thing to have if you don't have an online system.

I have bartended off and on for over 37 years and this is the only book you will ever need. Buy it. Read it. Commit it to memory and watch the tips double, triple, or even more depending on your basic personality and present expertise in the profession.

A lot of useful information! Highly recommended for new and experienced bartenders.

I applogize for using the word "awesome" to describe this book but that's all that comes to mind. I've worked in the club and club/resturant area a bit but never as bartender. This book brought back memories of the most fun I had, making the least money ever. If you're interested in being a bartender, being a better mixologist or just curious about mixing drinks, I highly recommend this book. It was the best $12.95 I ever spent. And again, Amazon, your service was amazing.

There's not a drink recipe I can't find in this book!! It is one of the most thorough beverage recipe books I've seen. I will definitely tell my friends about it. G-R-E-A-T!!!!

Working as a bartender, I've bought two copies of the 7th edition for behind the bar and both have disappeared! This book is small and convenient, but loaded with a complete and easy-to-locate list of drinks. There are even a few lists near the back of different frozen drinks, shots/shooters, coffee drinks, etc. to make testing something new out a breeze...or simply open the book to a random page and let the drinking begin! Invaluable behind the bar, I've never had a customer ask me for a drink without it being in this book. It even accounts for the regional differences in some drink recipes (Sex on the Beach for one). HIGHLY recommended.

Very helpful guide for those obscure drinks that happen to be a customer's favorite. With the discreet size and "stay open" design they never have to know you didn't already have the knowledge to make their perfect adult refreshment!!!

Very detailed in Recipe and instructions on how to mix and serve any drink you can imagine.
