It is exactly what is required to make it easy to assemble an AR-15 from parts. Complete step-by-step instructions. Thank you to the other reviewers who enabled me to pick the right book from the start.

I waited until I had assembled part of my rifle before I wrote a review of this book. Based on that experience, I highly recommend purchasing this book if you're contemplating assembling your own AR15 from parts. I have installed the parts kit into a lower receiver using these directions, plus some other sources that I describe below
Pluses for this book include clear pictures of both assembled parts and pictures of individual steps during assembly. Clearly written instructions accompany the pictures. A definite plus is a listing of `pitfalls' before each step warning of potential mis-steps. Directions are also given on where and how to lubricate the parts as they're being assembled. Another plus is that there are specific instructions for testing the function of such items as the safety and the hammer/trigger assembly so that the assembler can assure the mechanisms are functioning properly and safely. One minus for this book. It assumes the reader has a detailed knowledge of all the parts. Opening a small plastic bag of all the parts for the lower receiver can be quite daunting when nothing is individually labeled. It's easy enough to pick out a trigger or identify the hammer, but there are several small springs and détentes that are close enough in size that it isn't clear which ones go where. While the book does have an exploded drawing of the rifle showing all the parts, a numbered list of parts keyed to the drawing should accompany it. This is easily remedied as it isn't difficult to find such a drawing from many parts dealers on the internet. Between the drawing and the process of elimination I was able to identify where all the small pieces went. Brownells website also has instruction videos for assembling AR15s that were helpful. However, any somewhat mechanically inclined person with this book and a copy of an exploded drawing and parts list can successfully assemble a rifle. Hi, the Kuleck assembly guide is TOP NOTCH. unlike most manuals that do a disassembly then include "reverse procedure to assemble" this starts with a new bare receiver and a pile of parts and includes all the tips and tricks to make it easier. and each section tells you in front what parts AND what TOOLS you'll need to do that section so you don't get half way done and realize you need something. a GREAT guide (Review Data Last Updated: 2009-10-09 08:04:43 EST)

You will find the descriptions, illustrations, and the most photographs laid out better than any other book on the market. Lots of good ancillary info that you would otherwise not get unless you happen to run into older more experienced shooters at the range or on an invited hunting trip which is not included in most books. There's alot of things you need to know as a beginner especially if you don't know what you are looking for in an AR. After you read volume 1 The AR15 Complete Owner's Guide you'll know exactly what you want and what questions to ask at the shop. It really doesn't make much sense that volume 1 received only a 3 star rating since I've read a few of the others as well and found some basic facts missing.

I've assembled 4 lowers and wish I had this book when I was doing it! Step by step with good photos and "all those things your mother never told you", in the form of tips and potential problems. The upper section is just as good and I'll try one of those next!
Best source I've seen on a build and also shows you how to install a Jewell trigger! (Review Data Last Updated: 2009-06-15 19:47:31 EST)

I already have built many AR15s. I bought this book on a whim wondering if it had any other useful tips. It did. It is well laid out. I like how during each step of assembly it lists "pitfalls" you may encounter. It has good recommendations for tools and techniques to make your build project go smoothly.
The pictures are very clear. Instructions are easy to understand. I highly recommend this book for those that are taking on their first AR15 assembly project and to those that have experience already. It is a good addition to the library. (Review Data Last Updated: 2009-05-03 02:09:58 EST)

This book takes you from a pile of springs, roll pins, and other stuff to a complete, functioning AR-15. Covers every facet of assembly with many tips and shotrcuts that save time and possible damage to expensive and hard to obtain parts. They also recommend some special tools that make assembly a breeze for someone who has never assembled a firearm before. I would not have wanted to guild my first AR without this guide. There is one error that seems to be a holdover from the dark days of the Clinton gun ban. They say that you can not legally buid a rifle with a collapsable stock. Not true since the ban expired, at least where I live.

Having previous experience with AR/M16s in the service, I wanted a simple yet useful photo guide for my most recent acquisition. After reading other reviews about this book I thought why not. If it has all the photos and step by step info, then it's exactly what I've been searching for. And it is. Very thorough step by step photo guide that takes you through complete assembly. There are also tons of notes, tips, tests, pitfalls and cautions throughout the book, that can only come from someone who has very extensive knowledge of AR-15/M-16 rifles. This book, in effect, teaches you how to build your own AR from the ground up. There are 5 chapters and 326 black & white gray scale photos that are very crisp in detail. Chapters 3 & 4 are your lower and upper receiver assembly chapters. They are very well layed out, with all parts needed thoroughly listed, torque specs, locking compounds and required tools. Ending with final assembly of the two receivers in Chapter 5.
I highly recommend this guide for anyone who is looking to build their first AR-15, as well as the experienced builder needing a quick reference guide. (Review Data Last Updated: 2009-05-03 02:09:58 EST)

This is a very good book on assembling the AR-15 rifle. Easy to follow photos and instructions. I just bought an AR-15 rifle and since I haven't had anything to do with one for over thirty years, this book has helped a lot. Highly recommend this book.

First and foremost, the book has very easy to follow assembly instructions with excellent photographs. The book also includes informative tips on what pitfalls to watch-out for during the assy processes; this is in addition to explaining easier ways to do certain assy steps. One good example is the phenomenal installation instructions for the Jewell Match Trigger. This excellent trigger comes packaged with the most atrocious instructions from the manufacturer; in fact, these instructions do a great disservice to an otherwise near perfect trigger. But, I was able to install this after-market trigger in less than 30 mins. by following the book's instructions. This was also done while I was sitting on my bed being distracted by watching TV.
The installation continues with very thorough info on how to adjust and fine tune this great trigger once installed. This is but a small example of how this book has helped me. I don't want to sound melodramatic ...but this little book is G-R-E-A-T! (Review Data Last Updated: 2007-03-30 02:04:51 EST)
