The American Prophecies: Ancient Scriptures Reveal Our Nation's Future

New York Times bestselling author Michael D. Evans explains ancient biblical prophecies about current events that affect America's role and destiny in the 21st century.

"Why do they hate us?" That's the anguished cry of Americans seeking an explanation for the terrorist attacks on the United States and the continued political violence against US soldiers, diplomats, tourists, and missionaries. Today, Americans live in constant fear of the next major act of domestic terrorism--but instead of gaining international sympathy, the US finds allied support more tepid than ever. Now, Evans sheds light on political events from a prophetic perspective in a thought-provoking look at the biblical prophecies written more than 2,000 years ago. America is targeted, he says, because of its friendship with Israel, its foundation on Judeo-Christian principles, and its basis in democracy. He also warns that the attacks will continue and that Scripture predicts a demise for the United States if it compromises its allegiance to Israel and its constitution's moral foundations.

How is America tied into ancient biblical prophecies? According to author Michael Evans, a fundamentalist Christian minister, biblical prophets already predicted that America is doomed to collapse unless its government stops accommodating the Arab world for the sake of oil and instead offers full military and diplomatic support to Israel. He believes that God wants Israel to have full control of the West Bank and Gaza, and Americans are risking God's wrath by not fully supporting this biblical mandate. Evans also theorizes that much of America's problems--including the attack of 9-11--are indications of God's fury over America's split allegiance between the two famous descendents of Abraham: Ishmael and Isaac. "We are caught in a tug of war between two brothers--between oil, political expedience, and conscience in many ways--and it our decisions and polices concerning these two brothers that will determine whether the United States will survive or go the way of the Roman Empire," he writes. Evans's prophetic foundation begins with the parable of the fig tree (Matthew 24:32-44), in which he interprets the various signs Jesus gave his disciples to mark "the final age and his return." Obviously, the Bible can be interpreted many ways, and Evans uses 17 chapters to weave in interpretations of scripture that support his theory that America faces a mammoth choice--ruin or salvation. Although actual quotes from scripture are rather sparse throughout the book, he concludes with a five-page index of "Ancient Prophecies" that indirectly support his theory. One caveat--Evans (Beyond Iraq) does not hide his vehement anti-Muslim leanings. This book will probably be offensive to Christians who practice religious tolerance and lean toward a more-inclusive solution to American diplomacy in the Middle East. --Gail Hudson
From the time George Washington placed his hand upon a Bible and swore the oath to become the first president of the United States, the Jews-and more important, a Jewish homeland-have occupied a crucial place in America's history. The second president of the United States, John Adams, declared toward the end of his life, "For I really wish the Jews again in Judea an independent nation." Now internationally renowned Middle East expert and biblical scholar Mike Evans traces the efforts of American Christians to help establish a Jewish State through a "prophetic memorial," a declaration presented to five successive American presidents outlining the biblical mandate for a Jewish homeland. Evans describes in fascinating detail the events that led in 1948 to the birth of the nation of Israel.

The hatred of the Arab world for the West-and toward America in particular-can be traced entirely to this nation's identification with Israel. America flirts with danger, Evans says, when it accommodates the Arab world merely for the sake of oil. As God said to Abraham, "I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse." America's prophetic future hangs on the nation's moral vision and clarity.

The hostility of Islamic fundamentalists toward America can be explained succinctly, Evans asserts: It is rooted in bigotry, the ancient prejudice against Jews. Yet, says Evans, "America is cursing what God has blessed (Israel) and blessing what God has cursed (rebuilding Babylon [Iraq]). Does the Bible reveal what will happen to a nation that does this? A thousand percent yes!"

I like the simplicity in this books good vs. evil premise. I do believe it has been that black and white as it relates to the children of Isaac and Ishmael.

Evans does a good job positing his opinions and I think most of this is clear to those that have open eyes. Whether he has it all exactly right, I doubt it - no one here on earth does. But we all will one day.

Regardless, this is a good book on Biblical prophecy, most of which makes sense, some is a stretch and a bit I find very implausible. It does a good job of connecting events I never considered - Sirhan Sirhan's assasination of RFK and the connection to the PLO / Yassir Arafat to name just one.

If you like prophecy books, if you believe we are engaged in spiritual warfare, this should suit your fancy, as it is relevant to today's events.

KINDLE: nicely formatted, as easy to read as paper copy.

George Bush has a heart attack and dies. Obviously he goes to hell, where the Devil is waiting for him ....

"I'm not sure what to do," says the Devil. "You're on my list, but I have no room for you. As you definitely have to stay here, I'm going to have to let someone else go. I've got three folks here who weren't quite as bad as you. I'll let one of them go, but you have to take their place. I'll even let you decide who leaves."

George thought that sounded pretty good, so he agreed. The Devil opened the first room. In it were Richard Nixon and a large pool of hot water. He kept diving in and climbing out, over and over.Such was his fate in hell.
No!" said George. "I don't think so, I'm not a good swimmer and don't think I could stay in hot water all day."

The Devil led him to the next room. In it was Tony Blair with a sledgehammer and a room full of rocks. All he did was swing the hammer time after time. "No! I've got this problem with my shoulder. I would be in constant agony if all I could do was break rocks all day." commented George.

The Devil opened the third door. In it, George saw Bill Clinton lying on the floor with his arms staked over his head, and his legs staked in a spread-eagle pose. Bent over him was Monica Lewinsky, doing what she does best. George Bush looked at this in disbelief for a while, and finally said "Yeah, I can handle this."

The Devil smiled and said, "OK, Monica, you're free to go!"

After reading this book, I was curious as to what other readers had to say on Amazon. I was surprised to see that the overall rating is close to 5 stars. After reading some of the reviews, this is probably because most of the reviewers can be lumped into the category of "Christian literalist" who believe in a fundamentalist view of the Bible and Christianity in general. Well, I'm not one of those and I'm here to tell you that this book is more dangerous than it is helpful. While it was interesting to get the authors views of the players and motivations behind the founding of the modern state of Israel, I absolutely diagree with the foundations of his arguments. Simply put, his Christian biases are too much to take seriously and will do nothing but widen the gulf between Western and Middle Eastern ideology, be it religious, political or social. For those readers who have an open mind, don't waste your time with this book. For those of you with a fundamentalist outlook, do yourself (and the rest of us) a favor and open your eyes to a new way of thinking.

I enjoy books about prophecy as well as biblical studies, so I delved into this book eagerly only to be horrified at the author's blatant hatred and prejudice against the Arabs. This book has a clear agenda and it is decidedly not a Christiam one - no mention here of loving thy neighbor or forgiving thine enemies. The author makes comments like "they hate us simply because they hate us" which make it hard for me to believe that he has spent any significant amount of time of time in the Middle East.

Our nation has been tremendously blessed by God, and we once were "One nation under God", but are we honoring God as nation now? Can we be both a friend to Ismael and Isaac?

God promised the remnant of the Jewish people would one day return to the land of their fathers and they did in 1948. It is up to us as the American people to help protect this small nation that was chosen by God.

More millenarian, "End Times" lies from a so-called "minister" who left the true message of Jesus behind a long time ago.

"End Times" fantasies are a very real danger to the world and to the United States. And the pseudo-religious purveyors of these fantasies are the West's equivalent of Islamic Mullahs who foster terror attacks.

(Hide Review...)  MUST-READ FOR AMERICAN JEWS, ESPECIALLY, AND AMERICAN CHRISTIANS, PARTICULARLY!

This book is NOT POP-PROPHESY!

That is, it's not simply someone's speculation about the future. It is a very important book and one that should be read and re-read, critically validated through personal research, and judged on this author's past works and future events. If you take this challenge, you will be amazed as I have been!

Ultimately, you may not buy into everything the author suggests, but I certainly found validation of his thesis unavoidable.

I read Michael D. Evans's "Beyond Iraq" and was very impressed with how he developed that thesis which was, in fact, borne out in actual events. It offered amazing insight into the roots of the turmoil in the Middle East and an uncanny understanding of where these events were heading -- and since have gone.

In this book, the author demonstrates exceptional expertise with regard the history of United States' meandering between support or lack thereof for a Jewish Homeland going back many decades -- surprisingly hundreds of years even to the foundation of the United States and why that has been. The author names names and credits those who have stood with moral clarity on the issues. On the other hand, he names names and discredits those who have been opponents or those who talked a good game all the while avoiding action or actively undermining the progress toward or survival of the Jewish Homeland.
Then Mr. Evans demonstrates how the historically recorded passage of Scripture upon which various United States Presidents have laid their hand during administration of the Oath of Office have turned out to be prophetic regarding said president -- and not always in the way that President would have hoped. It is amazing to learn which passages George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, George Bush and others chose and how those passages proved prophetic indeed. It is also amazing to learn who the real proponents were and are of what has become the State of Israel and who impeded the creation of Israel or jeopardized Israel's existence -- and specifically how they did that!

AGAIN, THIS IS A MUST-READ FOR AMERICAN JEWS, ESPECIALLY, AND AMERICAN CHRISTIANS, PARTICULARLY!

I say that because the author details specifically how some of our previous leaders have sold Jews and Israel "down the river" while retaining Jewish and Christian political support. He delineates even more specifically how GOD regards the Jewish people and Israel. The author demonstrates how, in the past, those who have blessed the Jewish people and Israel have been blessed as God promised. In like manner, he demonstrates how those who cursed the Chosen People and Israel fared and suggests how those who do not bless, or do in fact curse, the Jewish people and Israel in the future will fare.

Bottom line: the author says the handwriting is on the wall, has been, in fact, for a long time -- in the form of a Covenant -- and that that "handwriting" is clearly demonstrated historically.

If you are looking for a history of Zionism and the establishment of Israel as a nation in 1948 then this book definitely does that and does so with a great deal of insider information. Michael Evans gives a sincere account of a Christian Zionist perspective. From what I know of Michael Evans he is a very good and humble man. If I am not mistaken he is an international journalist and writer who have sources in Israel and the USA that provide him with insider information. He does tell many stories with personal conversations with foreign and domestic diplomats including presidents. I think from the vantage point of learning about some interesting U.S. and Israeli history this book is good. There are times that he goes on a little too long and seems to get off point here and there, but overall the book is interesting.

The weakness of this book, for me, is the theology and in particular the lack of dealing with the Bible in any meaningful way. All of his quotes are proof texts that are devoid of any exegetical or Biblical context. Another point is that several of the theological positions that he does take are wrong. He misses entirely the message of the New Testament concerning Jesus who reconstituted Israel in himself and fulfilled in himself all of the promises made to Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and the prophets. 2 Corinthians 1:20 tells us that "All of the promises of God are in him yes and amen." In Romans 12:10 Paul says that "There is not distinction between Jew and Greek, the same Lord is Lord of all and merciful to all who call upon him." In Galatians 3:29 Paul states that "They that have put on Christ are Abraham's seed and heirs of the promise". In Ephesians 1:11 Paul speaking to the Church says "In him we were also chosen..." These verses are not very popular among Christian Zionist who wants to demonize any view that is not their own by labeling it as demon inspired or anti-Semitic. They throw the label of "replacement theology" and this way they can say that it caused the holocaust and nobody wants to get lumped in with that, do they? It is sad that Michael Evans does not recognize that Jesus was Israel's true representative and their Messiah. He is the true Jewish movement and not Torah keeping Jews. Paul says in Romans 2:28-29 that someone is not a Jew because he is one outwardly through circumcision, but he is a Jew who is one inwardly by the circumcision of the heart which comes through faith in Jesus. If Dr. Evans would deal with the book of Romans and the fact that Paul believes that Jesus was bringing together one family in Jesus to inherit the earth (Romans 4:13) and if he would take seriously Romans 10:12, Galatians 3:19, 2 Corinthians 1:20 that all teach that Abraham's seed has been constituted in Jesus and the all of the promises are fulfilled in him then he would get the message of Jesus and Paul.

Dr. Evans does spend the last two chapters of the book stating that he believes the coming of Jesus is near at hand. He, with a great deal of sincerity pleads with America to come to Jesus and be saved. I join him in this plead. Come to Jesus and trust him for his way of being human in this world and be made complete in Jesus.

Having said all of this I do think that some of Dr. Evans political concerns regarding Israel are well thought out. He offers political solutions like allowing Israel to build a security fence, the USA moving their embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem and several other real acts that he may indeed be correct about. He even talks about the living conditions of the Palestinians and calls for the Arab nations to take them in and absorb them. Michael Evans is a man who sincerely cares about and prays for the Palestinians and feels that they have been exploited by the Arab thug-ocracies. I do not believe that in his zeal for Israel that this results in his hatred for Palestinians. I know from correspondence with him that he went into Iraq and Saudi Arabia in 1990 during the war to comfort the suffering Arabs and that he did the same in Lebanon by shipping in tons of food to help the suffering. He is a good Christian man and I do not wish in anyway to detract from that with my statements below, but I must throw up some cautions about the dangers of Zionism.

First, Dr. Evans cautions the U.S. strongly not to negotiate with terrorists. While this from a worldly political standpoint may be a route the U.S. needs to take, Dr. Evans is a minister who represents the Church and not the USA and needs to temper such statements so that the labels he uses does not become a means of dehumanizing the enemies of Israel. As a follower of Jesus we are called upon to love our enemies and not to return evil for evil. The terrorist label is too easily applied in today's political climate and a representative of the Church like Dr. Evans needs to use extra caution.

Second, I think too that while he cautions and warns about the dangers of anti-Semitism in the Arab nations that he himself needs to be careful about racism. Most Zionist do not recognize that saying the Jews are God's chosen people and then basing it on their race is in fact racism, but that is exactly what it is. Dr. Evans points out that the descendants of Abraham are Isaac and Ishmael. This fact means that both are out of Shem and this means that it is therefore anti-Semitic to use language that is inflammatory against the Arabs as well. I am not accusing Dr. Evans, but cautioning him and other Zionist to watch how they throw out blanket statements that can be taken to cover all Arab's.

Third, Dr. Evans needs to be careful about demonizing theological perspectives that differ from Christian Zionism. I, for example believe that Jesus took the role of Israel on himself and that to be in Jesus is to be in Israel. This does not mean that I hate "Jews" or that I am anti-Semitic. It means that I believe the real Jewish movement is found in the Jewish Messiah named Jesus and not in the revamped Phariseeism that lived on in Rabinic Judaism after 70 AD and continues till this day. This Jewish movement that I am talking about is Christianity. Now one might label that as "replacement theology", I don't know, but I do believe this is what the New Testament clearly teaches. I am aware that there have been those that have tried to justify killing Jews in the past and basing it on the Church has replaced Israel theology, but just because people have used evil methods to combat abortion like bombing abortion clinics does not make the pro-life movement a demon movement does it? We need to focus back on Jesus as the way to be the people of God and not on nationalism, tribalism, or ethnicity.

In the end this book is good for the history of the development of Israel and some very interesting historical snippets. I think that while Dr. Evans does write a passionate plea in the last two chapters about the need to come to Jesus, that he at the same time misses the message of the New Testament that Jesus is the CHOSEN ONE (not modern day Israel) and that to be in Jesus, whether Jew or Gentile, is to be chosen. This means whosoever will may come and be in the chosen.

Take all the multitude of books on Israel, America the Church and Biblical Prophecy and distil them down and you probably have something like this book. The hardcover volume is easily worth the price and I bought two more after reading my first one just to have copies to loan. I have not regretted it. Recommended for a primer as well as fact-filled resource for dispensationalists and other Bible students who go along the path of Scofield. I am one such (after training in other theologies as well as other fields) and would say hands down this is the ONE book that covers the subject adaquately and comprehensively. As a bonus it is written by a convert to Christianity from Jewish heritage so you have both perspectives blended and with a nice outcome. One thing before I close: this book never gets dated as it deals with history, Bible prophecy and truth. It will stand the test of time as a resource.

I remember when these same silly Christianists were convinced that the Soviet Union was the anti-Christ, and that Biblical prophesy was being realized by the Cold War.

Then I remember how, in 1991, Saddam Hussain was the anti-Christ for sure.

Guess that didn't work out either.

These uneducated Christianists, believing in their fictional god, their fictional book, their "messiah" who was simply a guy using obvious magician's tricks that I can easily replicate, and who died 2,000 years ago--these Christianists are the reason why America cannot reach its full potential.

All religions are equally man-made, and equally false. Belief in one or another is almost always an accident of birth. Had Mr. Evans been born in Saudi Arabia to devout Muslim parents, today he'd be a fervent Sunni Wahabist cleric. All of you reading this would be muslim if, by the accident of birth, you were born in a muslim country. If some religion guides you to a more moral life, great. But more often than not, as in the case of this book, belief in these fairy tales only leads to greater and greater violence, amorality, and war.

No, the rapture isn't coming. Christ won't be returning. Your beliefs, I'm sorry to say, are merely man-made mythologies. Made by man, for man. Your need for simple answers to complex questions has led you to believe in these quaint stories, but I'm afraid they simply aren't true. This is the only world you will ever know. There is no afterlife awaiting you. Sorry to inform you of this hard, cold reality. But I suggest you make the best of this life, and the lives of those around you, for it is the only one you will know.

Yes, all this boils down to the fact that the mark of the beast is coming soon. But for that to happen, the Rapture must occur first and then this World dictator (the antichrist) will rise up onto the world stage, and persuade the masses that he has the answers to the world problems especially between the Jews and the Arabs. Not only do i recommend this book but i also recommend that you watch Jack Van Impe Presents on TBN So you can hear and see the events that Dr. Jack Van Impe talks about...
Believe in the Bible, and Believe in Jesus Christ...we are in the last days...and we (Christians)don't know when the Lord will be back but He will be back to pick us up during the Rapture.

I like what Michael Evans has said in his book. I have never liked history, but I found that I couldn't put this book down. I have heard a lot of what he has wrote in this book by Christians from the Middle East and from American Christians who I feel have the gift of prophecy. I enjoyed recomending this book to historians, as well as family and friends.

This remarkable book traces the relationship of the USA to Israel from a Biblical perspective , written by Christian Evangelist and true righteous gentile Mike Evans

The book explains that , the way the USA treats Israel, will determine the future of the USA , working on the prophecy found in Genesis that G-D has given the Land of Israel to the Jewish People and will bless those that bless Israel and curse those that curse Israel.

Mike Evans urges the USA to side with Israel and the Jews , and so choose a ' Great Awakening' instead of a 'Rude Awakening' by going against Israel and siding with the Arabs , whose aim is that not one Jew should remain alive in the Land of Israel, or what the Arabs and their supporters refer to as 'Palestine'.

Evans reveals the words spoken by Bill clinton's pastor to the future President when he was still Governor of Arkansas:

"You might be President one day . You will make mistakes and G-D will forgive you. But G-D will never forgive you if you abandon the State of Israel"

Evans also explores the hatred of Israel by Moslems and their leftist allies , making it clear it is pure racism , that anti-Zionism and anti-Semitism are one and the same thing. As Martin Luther KIng Junior put it: " When people criticize Zionism they mean Jews, Zionism is nothing less than the dream and ideal of the Jewish people, returning to live in their own land."

He grapples with the question as to what is fueling this hatred and can the engine of hate be derailed, warning us where this hatred can lead , reminding us that the so-called 'World Conference On Racism' in Durban , South Africa' , which turned into an anti-Semitic and anti-Israel hate fest, ended just three days before September 11 2001-the day that terrorists bombed the World Trade Center in New York.

He refers to a conversation with former MOSSAD head Issar Harel in October, 1980 , where the latter predicted that Islamic terrorists would strike at New York's tallest building , as a symbol of the democracy and freedom , so hated by Islamic radicals and their leftist and Marxist allies.
Even more chilling is the words of Yitzhac Rabin in his 1979 autobiography , the Rabin Memoirs :
"As our recent history teaches us , what begins as a threat to the Jews is soon a menace to the entire world. It is but a short step between a knifing in Jerusalem and a bombing of the World Trade Center in New York".

The book deals with the prophecies in The Bible especially with regards to Jerusalem and The Temple Mount.

Particularly interesting is his tracing of the alliance between Hilter's Nazis and the Arab World against the Jewish People and Israel. Nazi propaganda and support played a large role in the Arab attacks against Jews that swept through the Land of Israel ('Palestine') from 1936 to 1939, in which several hundred Jews where murdered. Hitler commented : " I'm going to become a religious figure . soon I'll be the great chief of the Tartars. Already Arabs and Morrocans are mingling my name with their prayers.'

Nazi broadcasts into the Middle East increased in 1937 , and after the Mufti Haj Amin al-Hussaini , the leader of the Palestinian Arabs , met with the German Consul in Jerusalem to tell him how he admired Hitler and wanted help against the British and Jews, large quantities of German weapons where delivered by way of Iraq to the Palestinian Arabs.
By 1941, the Mufti Haj Amin al-Hussaini was an honoured guest of Adolf Hitler in Berlin. The Mufti was one of the most enthusiastic supporters of the 'Final Solution'. He lodged a personal complaint with Von Ribbentrop , the Nazi Foreign Minister , when he discovered that 7 000 Jewish children where to be transferred to Palestine , ensuring that the children where sent to extermination camps instead.

Today Hilter's Meim Kampf is a bestseller in Egypt , Syria and the 'Palestinian Authority' and holocaust denial is rife in the Arab World especially among the 'Palestinians'

As Mike Evans has said "
The hue and cry is for peace in the Middle East; but at what cost to Israel? We decry anti-Semitism, but invite one of the biggest proponents to tea. We mourn those lost in the Holocaust; yet we allow the creation of an atmosphere of hatred and distrust that daily endangers the lives of innocent Jews in Israel. We stand silently and idly by while Palestinian children are taught the precepts of hatred, and the spiritual benefits of shahada, Islamic martyrdom by suicide bombing."
The American Prophecies is a compassionate, insightful, knowledgeable and deeply spiritual treasure - that should be read by all.
The question is why so many mean spirited hate mongers try to trash it. Obviously because of the love for Israel, and the confidence that |Israel will prevail against her cruel enemies.
What's most unbelievable of all is the inhumanity of the so-called secular `humanists' who show no humanity at all to the Jewish victims of the campaign of genocide by the Palestinazi terror network.
One someone said `there is nothing so illiberal as a liberal'. It seems today there is nothing so inhumane as a `humanist'.
Please buy this book for itself and do not listen to its evil and vicious detractors, whose hatred for the book is really hatred for the Children of Israel and for the Judeo-Christian world.
As a Jew I believe that Mike Evans is a true righteous gentile, who's mission is truth and moral clarity. 'The American Prophecies' is a work of true moral clarity and spiritual enlightnment. Get it now and read it!

(Hide Review...)  Details America's Relationship with Israel and the Arab Nations and a Wake-up Call to the Church
Reviewer Permalink
With "The New York Times Bestseller" on the dust jacket, and The American Prophecies as a title, and an author I knew little about, I approached this book with a little skepticism, wondering if this was some kind of sensational end times book. The subtitle "Ancient Scriptures Reveal Our Nation's Future" only reinforced that idea.

Is America in prophecy? The author answers yes, and goes on to show that "America has married two brothers..." Our marriage to Israel was perpetuated by guilt over how we responded during the Holocaust. Our marriage to Ishmael (the Arab nations) is one of convenience. "Ishmael brought a dowry of black gold (oil) to the marriage, and then used it to blackmail America."

It's through our relationship with these two brothers that America is in prophecy. How we relate to Israel will determine where we fit in with prophetic events.

Evans does not have a fatalistic view of prophecy-since God is sovereign and because certain events are ordained to come to pass, we can just sit back and wait. He believes that the Scriptures teach "that we can choose to be on the blessing or cursing side of prophecy." We can claim that God is on our side, but are we on His side? If we side with Ishmael against Israel, we will surely suffer for it.

The author contends that bigotry that gives rise to hatred of the Jews is behind the current Palestinian crisis and terrorism in general. He points out the current rise in anti-Semitism throughout the world and compares it to public sentiment prior to the Holocaust. In talking about the war on terrorism he states, "...we have totally missed the fact that the spirit that drove Hitler and Stalin is the same spirit that is driving terrorism today (italics in original)...it is the spirit of hatred, which always begins in the same way: It first starts by hating Jews (anti-Semitism) and then moves on to hating Christians."

He gives a sobering warning with reference to our allying with and arming Islamic terrorist-funding regimes: "There has never been a more urgent time for Americans to act with more moral clarity than today, yet there has never been a time in which we have seemed more duplicitous. The future of our nation, as well as our world, hangs in the balance between our action and our apathy."

Everyone may not share the claim that judgment is heading to America for "cursing what God has blessed (Israel) and blessing what God has cursed (in rebuilding Babylon)." The author also opposes dividing up Jerusalem and any land for peace exchanges for the same reason.

Evans doesn't seem to allow for ignorance or misunderstanding in relation to replacement theology (the teaching that the Church has replaced Israel), when he calls it a new age doctrine from hell that feeds Jew-hatred.

He also uses strong language in describing the state of the American church and calling it to repent of its backsliding. He believes the Church must stand with Israel because God does, and fulfilling the great commission regarding Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria is part of the Church's eternal purpose. He sees his book as a wake-up call from heaven.

Towards the end, he sets forth the rapture as the "church's day of greatest hope." His desire is for a great revival in America that will result in so many being taken that there won't be "enough of America left to fight over."

Michael Evans is the founder of the Jerusalem Prayer Team that has the purpose of mobilizing prayer for the protection and peace of Jerusalem and its citizens along with praying for revival in the Middle East.

With his journalistic background and his intimate access to government officials, Evans is at his best when he is chronicling our long history with Israel and the Arab people. The moral clarity that he brings to the issues and his detailed accounting of the events leading up to the rebirth of Israel are enough by themselves to make this worth reading. If you want to have a better understanding of current events in relation to Israel, and what America's relationship has been and should be toward Israel, this is a helpful guide.

Do you really want to know truth?

I am not Jewish. But I am a former Evangelical Christian. It is exactly this type of hate-mongering and support for blind nationalistic militarism that lead me to rethinking my worldview.

But please, hear me. There are many, many Jewish people who do not support the extreme racist positions of certain ultra-Zionist.

If you are open minded enough to find out how many of them feel, check this website:

This interesting and engaging book starts with the poem The Second Coming by William Butler Yeats. All chapters are introduced by memorable quotes from scripture and by people like Martin Luther King, Abraham Lincoln, Harry Truman, David Ben-Gurion, John Adams, Alexis de Tocqueville, Karl Marx, Hitler and Arafat.

The main theme is the United States vis a vis Israel in the light of Biblical prophesy. The author explains that America's relations with the two bothers Isaac (Israel) an Ishmael (Arab nations) will determine the future of the USA. The history of these relations is explored through the record of a long line of presidents up to the present.

The book also looks at the history of Zionism and of the restoration of the State of Israel. Prominent Americans like William E Blackstone, Louis Brandeis and Henry Morgenthau Jr played a significant role in the rebirth of the Jewish State. In the chapter A Deadly Lack Of Conviction, the author investigates the heartbreaking years in Germany from 1933 to 1945. The inaction of President Roosevelt before and during the holocaust is a stain on American history. The refusal to accept shiploads of Jewish refugees form a sad part of this picture.

But there were better days ahead, like President Kennedy's open support for Israel as described in the chapter The Olive Replanted, where the 1967 and 1973 wars and Israel's nuclear development programme are also discussed.

The chapter Reviving Ishmael discusses the role of the British and Ottoman Empires in the founding of Saudi-Arabia and the history of the Middle East in the light of the return of Jews to their homeland. It also contains observations on the Cold War, the doctrine of Wahhabism and the establishment of the PLO under Yasser Arafat. The next chapter, Treason, takes a closer look at Saudi-Arabia and its export of terrorism, the peace efforts of President Clinton that led to the Oslo Accords, and the sale of American arms to Arab nations.

The role of the lunatics, liberals and liars is investigated in the chapter of that name. It visits the September 11 attacks by considering them within the moral relativity of liberal culture and criticises the government's tardiness in taking corrective action, while revealing the Saudi government's public relations influence through huge media campaigns. The main role players on the international stage are also discussed here within a prophetic frame of reference: The USA, Israel, EU, UN, Russia, China and the international terrorists.

Chapter 12 narrows the conflict down to Jerusalem and the Temple Mount in particular, by pointing out the historical and religious significance of this structure. This section contains several prophetic quotes from the Bible. It includes a discussion on the proliferation of WMD and Israel's mercifully highly advanced nuclear strike capabilities.

Another chapter is devoted to the new Anti-Semitism, with reference to the United Nations, the deteriorating situation in Europe and the virulent expression of this ancient poison in the Arab world. Many disturbing examples from the Arab media and from the utterances of Arab and Muslim leaders are given.

Chapter 15 looks at the record of US presidents from Jimmy Carter to George W Bush, comparing in each case the blessings and cursings that the USA incurred as regards its relations with Israel and with terrorist organisations.

Chapters 16 and 17 serve as a warning to the USA by way of scriptural quotes, a warning not only to reject the concept of moral relativism but also to rise in support of Israel. The church must stand up for Israel and the Jews, because they are all part of the same promise. The book concludes on a somewhat more optimistic note in the Afterword that points out how George W Bush has courageously implemented firm pro-Israel policies since April 2004.

The book is not without blemish. The author occasionally lapses into hyperbole whilst his identification of nations in prophecy might be wrong in the case of Babylon = Iraq. I think his criticism of the US reconstruction of Iraq is misplaced; in this regard please read Natan Sharansky's book The Case For Democracy: The Power of Freedom to Overcome Tyranny and Terror. The term Babylon might also refer to another superpower, a modern day Roman Empire.

Other books that might help to form a clearer picture include The Mountains of Israel By Norma Parrish Archbold, The New Anti-Semitism by Phyllis Chesler, the Anti-Chomsky Reader (edited by David Horowitz and Peter Collier), Unholy Alliance: Radical Islam and the American Left, and The Case For Israel by Alan Dershowitz.

I am overjoyed to know this well-researched Biblical study of prophecy has surpassed the sales of The DeVinci Code. Dr. Evans is to be highly commended for his study of the Scriptures and prophecies relating to Israel, the United States and terrorism. I was thrilled to learn important facts about decisions of our previous presidents, and pray President Bush will be made aware of the vital importance of his present and future decisions concerning Israel and treaties to divide lands that do not belong to us. My heartfelt prayer is that we as a nation will be revived and ready when our King comes to rapture His Body, the Church. Thank you, Dr. Evans, for your fine study and the way you laid out the prophecies for future reference. It is a book any Biblical scholar or person who loves the Lord Jesus Christ can use to be better informed of the importance of prayer for our leaders and to share or teach His Good News with others. Secular humanists want vocal Christians like me to go away...or go to sleep! They have polluted our culture, dethroned God in our schools, defiled our heroes, and demonized our preachers as bigots and extremists.

These God-haters are determined to shut the mouths of those who stand up for righteousness, and will not sleep until every Jew has been obliterated from Israel.

The liberals fear this book. Why? It awakens the Christians of the nation. This book reveals the truth, and "You shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free."

The American Prophecies relates how the Word of God and the people of God have impacted America in the past...and how we can today.

Christians have been called to do business that takes hold of eternity and things beyond the grave. The war on terror cannot be won without a war on bigotry and the moral relativism that has so infected this nation since 9/11.

The American Prophecies also details the stand that President Bush has taken for Israel...a stand unlike any in American history since Harry S. Truman took the courageous step of recognizing the rebirth of the Nation of Israel.

When President Bush was at a nadir in the polls, when he was being brutally attacked by the liberal media, the war in Iraq was at its lowest point, and when the 9/11 Commission was attempting to undermine his integrity, with character and courage, he made a biblically-based, moral decision to stand with the nation of Israel. I believe this decision by President George W. Bush was prophetic, and will echo throughout eternity.

This book is a must read for any Christian who wants to know the truth!

Michael Evans has been following the Biblical and political
developments in Israel and World Jewry for many years. This
book is a fine overview of his thoughts and carefully
considered observations of how America must remain the
faithful Ally of the beseiged Jewish State...or suffering
divine consequences given to those who seek NOT ONLY to
"divide the Covenant Land of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob,"
but seek also to literally destroy the Jewish people from
the face of the earth.
By all means get a copy and read this book TO GET A CLEAR
BIBLICAL UNDERSTANDING of the stakes involved in what the
world terms, "The Middle East Crisis." The problem goes a
LOT DEEPER than politics, oil, ... or even religion.

All nations will ultimately be judged by how they have treated Israel; such is the warning regarding the separation of the "sheep and goats" during the End Times.

Mr. Evans is correct to bring before readers the history of both American world opinion and their actions toward Israel.

\In this context it is particularly disturbing that there exists amongst so-called Christians and even some Evangelicals who should know better, a growing anti-Semitic viewpoint.

Condemnation of documentation which brings to light the importance of Israel to the world is not Christian in any sense of the word.

A book review should focus on the content of the book - not on the reviewer's viewpoint of the author.

I highly recommend this book and those who would consider purchasing it should certainly read Mr. George Smith("in Christ")'s review and see how desperately some with anti-Semitic viewpoints would keep this information from the public.

Unethically, Michael D Evans is driving up positive reviews of his book and attacking Amazon reviewers through repeated emails to his flock from The Jerusalem Prayer Team. Here are examples:

"If you have given the book to someone, please call them today, and ask them to send in a review. If they feel the book is worthy of a five-star rating, then ask them to do that. Please print this email and give it to your friends. Ask them to ask their pastor to place it in their church bulletin. If you have not posted a review on The American Prophecies, please do so today."

"It is strange that Amazon has not removed the trash reviews... Let's pray that hundreds more will click on and say "Not" helpful so they will be removed this week."

"The reason America is in such a mess with moral decay is because of deceptive New Agers such as the person who wrote the review below. These are the same people who have twisted the minds of our children... who are responsible for lulling this nation to sleep during the `90s, embraced terrorists... attacked Israel after 9/11."

Intolerance, narrow-mindedness, and vengefulness are ugly but they motivate donations for Evans.

The book itself? Agenda serving - Vast WMD snuck away to Syria under our noses. The Palestinian issue is only "terrorism and refugees" not real estate. Blame Jimmy Carter for all Middle East problems because he didn't have the moral courage to stand by the Shah of Iran? The author makes Clinton look like the biggest arms seller to violent regimes instead of Papa Bush by skewing the dates. Hey, did you know that during the Rapture, 23% of the "Raptured" Americans will be sucked away from their jobs flying planes, making Freedom Fries and greeting customers at Wal-Mart leaving the rest of us helpless? Might as well listen to Hannity.
