The first chapter rant was totally unnecessary and made the rest of the book hard to take. The Donald has lost a lot of credibility in my eyes.

People who think poorly of this book tend to judge it in terms of how to make money. Well, if you apply just ONE of the fifty odd lessons in this book, you will do better in business. Thus, from a sheer financial perspective, this book is worth its cost.
Some people also seem to dislike how Trump speaks about his past, present, and future business endeavors and relationships. Personally, I find scenario-based wisdom to be the best way to teach concepts. I suppose some people prefer a clinical academic approach to teaching concepts, but more likely, they just wanted to bash Trump. Further, if you read between the lines, you see that Trump is executing sound marketing by tooting his own horn. But hey, unlike most of his other books, this book isn't about business...it is about "Thinking Like a Champion". I have several books about how to think like a champion by sports athletes which are good, but Trump's perspective on this line of thinking is unique and, yet, very familiar. Obviously, athletes incorporate a good bit of sports psychology in their 'champion-thinking' which is good for performance, but Trump offers a more holistic approach. It obviously would have strong applications in business, but also in most other aspects of life. There is a great Zen book out there called 'The Three Pillars of Zen: Teaching, Practice and Enlightenment'. Business-wise (and perhaps life-wise), Trump has been enlightened and practiced his knowledge to become a successful (business) person. Now, through The Apprentice, seminars, and his books, Trump is fulfilling the third pillar: teaching. However, in his books, he does not have to temper his teaching with gimmicky terminations. He is free to just pass on his wisdom...and he does so with a surprisingly gentle, albeit straight-forward, hand. Trump's latest books are like a stern kung-fu fighter who has won his land and glory and now, as a master, joyously passes his knowledge to those who are willing to learn. Written with the assistance of Meredith McIver, "Think Like A Champion" is a compilation of advice and commentary from one of the country's best known entrepreneurs -- Donald J. Trump. This outspoken and often flamboyant real estate tycoon and television impresario covers a wide spectrum of topics and issues ranging from Barack Obama as a political phenomena, to our currently troubled economy, to the necessity for entrepreneurs to take chances in the marketplace, to establishing a reputation, to the necessity for financial literacy, to the use of imagination as a tool for commercial and personal success. "Think Like A Champion" is 'must' reading for the legions of Donald Trump fans -- and a popular and very highly recommended addition to any community library collection.
