| Ted, White, and Blue: The Nugent Manifesto | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
Straight from the Motor-City Madman comes the wildest, most politically incorrect book yet. In The Nugent Manifesto, rocker/hunter extraordinaire Ted Nugent is taking aim and setting his sights on our country. In his trademark unapologetic style, Nugent will praise God, guns, and red-blooded, full-throated Americanism against pantywaist politicians, nanny-state judges, and tofu-eating Obamamaniacs, calling on readers to "Roll up your damn sleeves, sharpen your crowbars, and think hardcore." The Nugent Manifesto follows up his New York Times bestseller God, Guns, and Rock 'N' Roll and his wildly successful cookbook, Kill It & Grill It. Look out America, "The Nuge" is back--and with a whole new arsenal of "Tedisms" ready for launch!

This book should be a must read for all Americans!
It's so simple it's genius. My Grandfather used to say, "plain talk is easily understood." Well, you can understand Mr. Nugent loud and clear. Even if you don't agree with him - you should read and study his side, so you can intelligently debate the issues. Not just run in emotional overload. Ted Nugent is highly intelligent and has written this book so smartly. It reflects most American's views and values. It also says it in a way that most Americans wish they could. Read it. Study it. Especially Young People. Buy one for a Graduate for Christmas. Now!! (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-11-10 01:34:54 EST)

Wow, what can you say about the maverick Ted Nugent that hasn't already been said? In his manifesto, "full bluntal nugity" is loud and in your face. He has an uncanny ability to tell-it-like-it-is in an eloquent professional way. His manifesto has his solutions to the problems that we as free-thinking hard-working americans face everday. It is more important that ever to heed the words in this book and to be prepared for what lies ahead in this great nation. God Bless Ted and God Bless America!

I got this book, read it front to back, twice, in a week. I liked most of what he would do if he was president. If only we could get our politicians to man up and make this country even better again. Uncle Ted for President. Vote on Nugent/Palin.

Ted Nugent writing a book is like Freud playing a Gibson SG so set your expectations low. In this case, the tool exists to compensate for something smaller. Maybe that's why he's a gun freak too. It's a shame that Ted is so anti-drugs because I think a little Lexapro and Xanax could do him wonders.
Ted's all about having power over the little things he cannot control. And boy does he get pissed off when he doesn't get his way. In between the lines of this manifesto, I see Ted the Omnipotent screaming, "bow before me or I shall force you to eat possum-gumbo", "Laugh at my jokes or I will shove a can of Vernor's into your nether-regions", "Damn liberals, let's deep-fry em' all...Ha, Ha, Ha, Ted shall rule the world". Heil, mein Führer! The book is meaningless drivel written by an egotistical attention-seeking maniac. Just a rambling diatribe of how an aging rock star envisions his world, and I'm quite sure the world is going to take this manifesto seriously.......YEAH RIGHT, and "Fred Bear" is the greatest song ever written. More seriously, many years ago, my uncle saw Ted play in the Amboy Dukes dressed like a flaming hippie. I guess that liberal-look was helpful keeping his booty out of Nam'. Ironically, he now dresses as Chief-Bigmeat-Eagle-Feather. Also, I clearly remember Ted bragging on Detroit radio in the 80's about his disdain for the Vietnam War and claiming to have soiled himself to avoid being drafted. Way to go American Hero, I'm glad you got my back, Teddy Bear. Nugent is nothing but false bravado and hypocrisy waving a flag to those with borderline IQ's. I regret that I wasted my time reading this drivel. This manifesto is a angry catharsis at best written so Ted doesn't really kill people. It's a shame he didn't take out all this rage in Vietnam. I got a few Chicken-Hawks he can go after though. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-11-01 00:14:13 EST)

If you have not seen/heard Ted on one of his vast media appearances then you have not been paying attention! Ted is everywhere...and I can't get enough of him! Like John Wayne, Ted is truly an American Hero indeed! I loved this book immensely, it's an important book and should be on everybody's reading list. I've gifted it to family and friends, just in time for christmas shopping! This book is bold, entertaining and ultimately Ted's gift to all of us, offering his guiding principles, and this reader salutes Ted Nugent! We're lucky to have him! Thank you Uncle Ted, well done!

As another reviewer pointed out, Nugent proudly boasted in a High Times interview High Times that he stopped bathing and relieved himself in his pants to purposely fail his interview when he was drafted to go to Vietnam. Sir! No Sir! - The Suppressed Story of the GI Movement to End the War in Vietnam.
That's actually one of the few admirable things he's done with his life, which now has become a caricature of belligerent nationalism. His sort of "patriotism" is something that belongs in North Korea or Nazi Germany, but has sadly found a home among those who find meaning in a cult that worships the state Superpatriotism. Roman emperors, and the US power elite, find this sort of idiocy to be useful Robbing Us Blind: The Return of the Bush Gang and the Mugging of America. I give Nugent's book 2 stars instead of one since he does appreciate the outdoors; and like many hunters, he sees firsthand how wild spaces and ecosystems are being systematically decimated Where the Wild Things Were: Life, Death, and Ecological Wreckage in a Land of Vanishing Predators. For a less clownish version of patriotism, I'd recommend: We the People: A Call to Take Back America By the radio host, Thom Hartmann. Straight Talk from the Heartland: Tough Talk, Common Sense, and Hope from a Former Conservative By the hunter and radio host, Ed Schultz. Varmints Which is about irresponsible hunting. The Corporation Which is about the real threat to this country. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-10-24 04:52:02 EST)

Nugent is not scared to say what he feels...book is written with unashamed conservative and capitalistic views that resonate with true red blooded Americans...not whining liberals that believe the world revolves around them (and the dolphins) Rock on Ted !!!

Great book, well written, plenty to think about. Most likely you won't agree with all of it, but that's o.k.

This book was great. Ted has it right even if some of the ideas come off as extreme to the current milk-toast males and blank stare females.
The only issue is where he speaks of his own education and lack of military experience. He says his lack of understanding came from the broken education system. He graduated in the 1960s when the system was far and away better than today. He says they did not teach him about the Civil or any other War. This is hard to believe as I graduated in the late 1970s and all that was taught to me. He goes on to say he didn't know how to balance a checkbook. Who's fault is that? His mom and dad's fault that's who! School was never expected to teach me basic personal needs and life skills. The issue is that he just wanted to play Rock-n-Roll music and party. Even with a crummy education he still could have enlisted and joined the Marines or Army. They just wanted bodies to throw at Vietnam. And then how later in life did he learn all those valuable lessons? Ted, your book is dead on but you don't walk your talk. You were just a long haired maggot who did not have the guts to go into the military and did not listen when his teachers were teaching him. It's ok because you say it was a mistake but that mistake was yours alone. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-10-14 01:44:08 EST)

As a fee-only fiduciary in the business of providing investment advice, I'm dealing with a lot of random emotions these days as a result of our inept Beltline policies and unconscionable Wall Street greed. These "leaders" of ours lost their adult sense of reason around the risks associated with reality, and how to prudently manage them, in this case with money (and lots of it).
Needing a little shot-in-the-arm of clarity around this concept of human nature and risks inherent in it, I busted open my ordered-in-advance copy of Ted Nugent credos as soon as it arrived yesterday. Reading a portion with two of my three recently adopted kids last night, we all felt energized with renewed conviction for the important things we're here to do in our lives. To see such a misunderstood man write about how in performing life's most difficult yet necessary tasks, "...it is equally manly to bawl my eyes out, sobbing uncontrollably over the heartbreak and trauma of such an act" (page 12), would surely help many to see that this is not a crazed lunatic, but one of the greatest humanitarians (and thankfully rock and rollers) to walk our planet in our lifetimes. The man is not perfect (and who is?) but he loves our Constitution, Declaration of Independence and Emancipation Proclamation ("The American Way") like few I've ever come across. With our global markets in turmoil as they are today, the need for elemental management of risk in complete awareness of primal reality is on high. Hunka Ted delivers exactly that, with intensity and certainty. Had more of our politicians and business people been even remotely in touch with the core issues elucidated here, we'd be in a period of continued prosperity now and not the pathetic state of fear and chaos that so many are shamelessly gripped by today. Godspeed to you, reader. Get the book, devour it and let's take the best of what it has to teach us in creating a better world for our kids. It's our gift to leave behind, let's celebrate and get it done now. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-10-11 01:42:21 EST)

First off, I think Ted Nugent is what a rock and roll artist should be- he's the ultimate showman, a gifted songwriter and an excellent guitarist.
With millions of records sold and literally thousands of performances given over a 40 year career, he has earned his place in music history. I am a huge fan of his music ("Cat scratch fever" is one of my favorite songs and I even like Damn Yankees' stuff)and hope he's got many good years left in him.. I just have a problem when he spouts off some of his political viewpoints. (where is Laura "Shut up and sing" Ingraham when you need her?) I read this book cover to cover last night. He actually has some great ideas and philosophies. His passages espousing personal responsibility (especially his critiques of how the obesity and junk food epidemics are the real reasons behind skyrocketing health care) are admirable, as is his personal "no drugs no drink" philosophy which he elaborates on here. I even think some of his immigration reform ideas (like arresting mayors who create sanctuary cities because they violate federal immigration laws) are pretty revolutionary and gutsy. It's just that- all you need to know about this man's character is espoused on Chapter 5 when he talks about his view on War. It is in this chapter where he reveals his true colors and shows himself to be just another of those ignorant cowardly "chicken hawks" who don't have a clue as to what actual war is. He starts out with a pathetic and lame explanation for why he, Mr. Macho Warrior himself, never actually served in Vietnam- saying that he wasn't educated about the war's virtues and wasn't tuned to what was going on because he was focused at the time on his rock career. Huh? Yeah right- guess you missed all of those news reports about the war and never crossed paths with anti war musicians during all of that time on the road, eh Ted? (In reality, he fails to mention in this book documented interviews where he says he deliberately flunked his army physical by not bathing for weeks and eating junk food to appear as unhealthy as possible. He also fails to mention that he got a bogus "student deferrment" while he was traveling with his band) and this guy criticizes Bill Clinton? He then, after espousing that he would have killed everything in sight in 'Nam, (if he had the guts to go) opines that he knows what combat is like because he did some USO tours in dangerous areas! (with that logic, I guess Bob Hope was fit to be a green beret) With that bs excuse out of the way so he can supposedly have some credibility on the topic, he proceeds to espouse his total warfare view that the enemy must be totally obliterated (even women and children - what a freaking humanitarian) and that the US must do this always and without mercy (something only someone who has never seen actual combat would say) and this guy criticizes John Kerry? Seriously Mr. Nugent- You're a talented musician and a pretty smart guy- but when it comes to warfare, you have NO CLUE what you are talking about- you were a coward when your country needed you and killing deer in a canned hunting environment does not make you some kind of warrior- it just makes you a clown with a gun license. I suggest you begin your education and read "all quiet on the western front" for a real glimpse into the true nature of war- or at least watch a good episode of MASH on tv land.... Overall, some good ideas but just another silly ranting from a toy soldier... (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-10-11 01:42:21 EST)
