I have read all of Karen's books. This one was another great one. Can't wait to for Take 4. All of her books inspire me and touch me. I never read before I picked up one of Karen's books, not I can't wait for each release. All of her books are worth reading.

Karen you outdid yourself again! Love learning about all the characters and cannot wait to get my copy of Take Four and Unlocked! Your books leave me entranced until the very end! I was raped my ex-boyfriend and when I found out about my firstborn I seriously contemplated abortion but today she is twenty and as beautiful as ever. Over the last seven years God has healed me emotionally, physically, and emotionally. This book hit me to the core! I have so many favorite authors but you are at the top of my list. My goal is to get all of your books, I do have most of them!

(Hide Review...)  Karen Kingsbury At Her Best!

There are few authors I'd save a Barnes and Noble gift card for, especially from December to March, as I did with my fifteen dollars I put on hold for the release of TAKE THREE. Let me just say....totally worth it. Karen Kingsbury has long been the heavyweight in Christian Fiction, and this new installment of the Above the Line series only emphasizes how in touch she is with her readers' emotions.
The book carefully navigates between the worlds of Andi Ellison, her parents, Bailey Flanigan and Cody Coleman, and a few other characters.
As Keith Ellison deals with his production company, minus his partner Chase Ryan, and begins groundwork on his new film 'Unlocked', readers meet the star of the film, Brandon Paul, who will hopefully become more of a main character in books to come. Meanwhile, Andi deals with issues that stand to destroy her-or make her stronger in the Lord. And we return to Bailey and Cody, still doing the dance of an almost relationship we've been watching since the Fame series.
This book is certainly Karen's best, and she only seems to be growing more and more great as she continues through this series. Take Three is a heart-touching story of love, from every standpoint: unconditional love, blooming love, and the love that knows no comparison, that of God's for his people.
A definite must for any Christian reader!

I could not put this book down! I am a romantic, so I especially enjoyed reading about Bailey and Cody. As a teacher of teens, I'm glad the message about abortion is addressed. Advice: Read everything Karen Kingsbury writes!

As with all Karen Kingsbury books, this one is hard to put down I made myself wait until after I had most of my house work done before starting, because. . . well, I knew I wouldn't put it down till I hit the back cover (I was right)

A LOT happens in Take Three!! So much I want to say but I don't want to give anything away. This story has many lessons. Some easy to see, and many I'm sure I didn't catch. Karen writes characters just like us, REAL people. One of the challenges her characters have is prayer, not that they didn't pray, but they didn't always listen to the answers - for a while at least.

Bailey has so many choices during this summer. What does she really want with her life. What sacrifices will she make to get what she wants. Can she have everything she wants, or will she lose something in the process. Can she be the friend that Andi needs or will Andi turn her back to everything she has ever known.

As movie producers, how much are Keith and Chase willing to sacrifice?? Their goal: To make movies that glorify God. Will Chase forget his marriage vows?? Will Keith loose his daughter?? Can they produce movies that will make people look to God and hold onto their familys too?

Take Three is a story of relationships: Breaking, growing, healing, changing. I love how the changes are wound so effortlessly.

I expected some of the things I read, and was surprised by others. The story is set for "Take Four", and I can't wait for its release in June 2010!!

The main characters at the end of Take Two (in case it's been a while since you read it):

*Andi - 19 yr old Daughter of Keith and Lisa Ellison. Student at Indiana University. Dating Taz and just completed a short movie with partial nudity.
*Bailey - 19 yr old daughter of Jim and Jenny Flanagan. Student at Indiana University. Dating Tim, but has feeling for Cody. Plans to audition in NY for a Broadway show with Tim at the end of the Summer.
*Brandon Paul - One of the Rising stars originally planning to play the lead in the newest movie by Keith and Chase, but his company has decided to write a story almost identical and cut out Keith and Chase.
*Chase - Married to Kelly, has two preschool aged girls. Struggling with an attraction to Kendall. Producers of "The Last Letter" and planning "Unlocked"
*Cole - (Around 22 yrs old) Student at Indiana University. Recovering alcoholic. Lost a leg during imprisonment in Iraq. In love with Bailey, but will not mention anything because of Tim.
*Dayne - Married to Katy (CKT) with one daughter. Taking a break from acting. Oldest son in the Baxter family.
*Keith - Married to Lisa, Father to Andi. Director of "The Last Letter". Preparing for Unlocked. Former missionary in Indonesia.
*Kendall - Grown up daughter to Ben. A pair who help finance and promote "The Last Letter" and plan to work with "Unlocked" in whatever ways possible. Attracted to Chase.
*Luke - Married to Reagan, two children. Lawyer for Dayne and also Jeremiah Produtions. Was having marital problems, but they have worked through them.
*Tim - 20 yr old. Student at Indiana University. Former CKT. Plans to go to NY and be a part of Broadway. Dating Bailey.

*Note this book review was done because I love reading Karen's books, and I was not asked to write the review (positive or negative)

** Note, I would not try to read Take Three until after you have read at least Take One and Take Two (but better would be to start at the very beginning with the Redemption Series {Baxter's & Katy}and then First Born Series {Baxter's & Dayne & Katy}and Sunrise Series {Dayne, Katy, Bailey}) Bailey is in all of the stories with Tim and Cody in at least a small part. Andi, Keith, Chase and group all are part of the Above the Line series, so you won't be missing anything about them if you start at Take One

This book is one more example of the outstanding gift Karen Kingsbury has for writing stories about real life situations where you can clearly see God's presence in action. Take Three is fabulous. It is a continuation of life situations involving the Baxter Family and their extended friends. I particularly love the intertwined love, friendship and relationships with God that these families and friends share with one another. I loved the outreach to college students in this book in letting them see that it's okay to make good choices, even if it not the popular choice on campus. I love how the families in all of these books are so supportive of one another. Mostly, I love how God is always at the center of every situation. All of these books give us an opportunity to witness God in action in life situations with which we can relate in one way or another. Don't miss this one!

(Hide Review...)  This series is disappointing
Reviewer Permalink
Karen Kingsbury has been one of my favorite authors of Christian books. The books in this series, however, really are disappointing. "Take Three" is just too predictable. Many of the events in the book are unbelievable. Her character "Clarence" was taken straight out of the movie "It's a Wonderful Life". Ms. Kingsbury seems to be going the way of many best-selling authors. Her books are getting to be all alike. When I read this one, I kept thinking I'd read it before. I won't be spending my money on any more of this author's books.

Another great book by Karen Kingsbury!!! Can hardly wait for Take Four!!! I am a huge fan and have read all her books to date...when I finish reading them, I pass them on to my Mom and sister to enjoy. From page one to the end of the book, you are completely engrossed in the story...her characters are so real, you feel like they are part of your circle of family and friends. I have both laughed and cried as I have read Karen's books and wait with anticipation for each new release. I have particularly enjoyed a book she wrote for children entitled "Let Me Hold You Longer" as she reminds us to celebrate the "last times" we do things with our children. This book became particularly dear to me as I was losing my son...it was a bittersweet reminder that we don't always rejoice and remember those last times we do the simple things in life with our children as they grow up. I would endorse Karen's books for people of all ages...her true to life story lines have encouraged me so much in my walk with the Lord. You never have to worry about being disappointed with one of her books because you are going to enjoy it from start to finish!!! Keep those wonderful books coming, Karen!!! The world needs more writers like you....

I've been reading books by Karen Kingsbury for a couple of years. Each one causes me to praise the Lord, that He gave her such a talent to share with us. The Above The Line series just makes my heart stop at times. I like the fact that she lets us know that Christians fall, and fail and still can find their way back to God.

Take Three is the best of the series in my opinion. The writing is so clear and draws you right into the life of these characters. I feel like crying for some and like cheering for others. I think the thing I like most is that I can always find someone I "know" in her stories. Someone like me or one of my friends.

I do highly recommend Karen Kingsbury and especially this series.

I'm pretty sure that anybody who has ever read a Karen Kingsbury book isn't here looking at this review--we already know how good she is, no matter what she writes. But for those of you who have heard of Take Three and are wondering about it, it is the 3rd in her Above the Line series. Some of the characters were introduced in other series' by Karen. I would recommend starting with the Redemption series to come to know these characters. After that, you will know them as family. Karen has a way of writing that makes you want to meet these people and be a part of their lives. When she writes a series, you can hardly wait for the next book--you want to know how everybody is doing. She addresses issues in the lives of her characters that we all face at different times in our lives--and she brings out the truth of what a difference God can make in your life. She brings home the message that it's not so much what happens in your life, it's how you handle the happenings. With God all things are possible. God has gifted Karen Kingsbury--her writing is her ministry, not her job!

Karen Kingsbury has a true gift for writing. All of her books are so interesting and captivating, but they also always inspire me. They offer a wonderful story that has valuable life truths mixed in. Take Three is no exception - just as Take One and Take Two it tells the stories of the characters in a beautiful way. I love how it has placed Dwayne and Katie back in the center of the storyline as I had missed hearing about them from the Firstborn and Sunrise series. Whenever I pick up a book of Karen's it is SO difficult to put it down - they are all just that awesome! You will love Take Three.

Another great story from Mrs. Kingsbury. Just wish I didn't read so fast as it ended too quickly! I'm thankful for the reminder that God longs for me to communicate with Him. You definately need to read the first two books in this series before this would be a satisfying read.

Karen Kingsbury's books may not be for everyone, but they are definitely my first choice in reading material. The secret to her success is her ability to create characters who are so real that her readers want to be part of the family. Their struggles become our struggles, their pain our pain, and their joys our joys. Take One and Take Two left me with a great deal of heartache for my beloved character friends. Take Three has been a temporary sigh of relief, yet I wonder what is going to happen in Take Four which is sure to segue into the Bailey Flanigan series.

The backdrop for the story remains the struggles of two Christian film makers and their efforts to make movies that will reach out and touch the lives of their viewers as they direct their hearts towards God. As always, Karen weaves the concepts of love, redemption, and grace throughout the whole book. Her readers will not be disappointed in this book. Karen's books always have laughter, tears, and a thought-provoking storyline.

God has done it again (using the wonderful Karen Kingsbury)! Take 3 was such a fantastic read! By far the best in the series, and I know it's going to keep getting better and better. You can't call yourself an avid, well rounded reader until you have read one of Mrs. Kingsbury's books!

Karen mentioned in her Note from Karen , "This time, telling the story felt like a sprint- a flat- out run". Reading the book felt that way as well. It felt like I was sprinting through it, yet I wanted to savor it as well. I read this on Kindle so it was a bit of an adventure as well. I was touched in the Dedication to her husband and to Kelsey and later on very specifically in chapter 18, 22 and the very last chapter. Definitely a "cannot put down" book.

Feels like I waited for ever for this one. I have already got it and can't wait to get started reading it. I am already anticipating the next book. I love the story lines that Karen uses. They are all so real and down to earth. Would recommend her books to anyone.
Luv you Karen.

Karen has done it again. I hated to come to the end of the book knowing that it will be a few months until the next one is released. I am looking forward to June when TAKE 4 is released.
