If there's anyone qualified to write a self-help book on success, it's Jack Canfield, who's worked his way from scraping by as a teacher to holding a Guinness world record for having seven books simultaneously on The New York Times® Best Sellers list.
As a coauthor of the Chicken Soup for the Soul® series, he's sold more than 80 million books, and now lives "in a beautiful California estate" with his days of dining on spaghetti and tomato paste long behind him. "All you have to do is decide what it is you want, believe you deserve it, and practice the principles in this book," he says, and success is yours. His advice is straightforward (examples: "reject rejection" and "surround yourself with successful people"), but rather derivative, with quotes from the likes of JFK, Colin Powell, Aldous Huxley, and fellow motivation author Napoleon Hill.Canfield's definition of success is primarily monetary, and he includes plenty of anecdotes depicting average folks who saved themselves from the brink of bankruptcy after following his principles. He could tone down the braggadocio; readers don't need to know that he's stayed in resorts in Hawaii, Italy, Australia, and Morocco. Despite those gripes, his cheerleader-caliber enthusiasm should benefit anyone looking to improve their lot in life. --Erica Jorgensen Amazon.com Exclusive Content |

Although there are some parts/techniques I would not follow (because it's a little bit "out there" for me), in overall it was a great reading. A very uplifting and positive book. I can recommend it to anyone who'd like to make changes in his/her life and don't know how to start.

Not only bought this book, but went to his website and downloaded the "facilitator guide" based on the book. Started a masterminds group. we are several weeks into it and all just love the book. Even those of us who don't "enjoy" reading have found this book easy to read and it is really helping all of map our goals and think about planning our future in a whole new way!

Jack knows more about success then most people in corporate America - and he will show you how if you care to read. he shows a simple process and it works.
Another book that really floored me because of the process it has and the layout is a unique re-visit to a classic - I use it everyday and it is working already - its 100% fantastic: Path To Prosperity - Mastery Of Destiny - Acres Of Diamonds: The Personal Study Edition See you at the top! I am in the midst of reading The Success Principles for a second time. There is just so much information to absorb, I recommend reading it straight through first and then "chunking it down" into smaller parts..I find the information Jack provides to be highly practical. It's making a difference in my life.

Jack Canfield provides a lengthy book discussing many principles required for success in any endeavor. The book is filled with examples, an abundance of relevant quotes, and short chapters providing emphasis to each principle.
Canfield is an interesting writer, and he adds a number of very good principles that would serve to assist anyone seeking to take better control of their lives. He has clearly given a lot of thought and research to all of his principles, and inside the book are a few gems that could make a significant impact on one's life. One of the downsides to the material is that it tends to be very longwinded, providing far more explanation than is needed to convey its messages. Many self help books cover the vast majority of what Canfield discusses which results in the book mostly offering a repeat of well known self help ideas. The book regrettably went well off course in its finance section by offering vauge and dated ideas such as start a website, make more money by selling things on the side, and other non descriptive notions that did not match tone of the rest of the book. Canfield could have easily provided a very profound book by editing the content and sticking with his most profound ideas; instead it feels as though he filled the book with every possible principle he could think of. It is difficult to know whether his recommendation of things like joining a network marketing company are a shameless plug to sell more books to those folks or an unfitting idea poorly mixed into the book. If one only was able to read a single self help book, The Success Principles would be helpful; however, there are better books available on the topic that have both original content and a more efficiently delivered message. I did not rate this book a success. Not for me anyway. Section 5 Success and Money was by far the most interesting chapter. The rest of the book I had read before by other well known authors. I felt there was nothing new. Principles from The Secret, Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill and The Magic of Thinking Big by David Schwartz and a number of other authors came out time and again. I was just disapointed with having read it all before.
