I believe the author offers his own beliefs with genuine sincerity. The challenge is in the delivery in which only he "sees" the Divine. The cd which came with the book is charming but a tad overbearing.
I could not bear reading quite a bit of the book. That is my issue when the author tells me I must do things their way or suffer no enlightenment. (My interpretation). (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-10-07 02:13:13 EST)

If I've read a worse, more over the top, new age book I don't know what it is. This book was agonizing to get through. Repetitive... repetitive... repetitive. I don't know if the author was trying to use hypnotic suggestion or what but he would repeat the same sentences or phrases over and over again.
The book seems to be about teaching yourself something the author calls "Soul Language". Supposedly, we can all speak it. We can all understand it... well not quite. You see if you can train yourself to speak in soul language and others around you know how to translate soul language then they can understand you- only they may each understand you differently... and you might not really understand what you're saying yourself. I read a LOT of books on Spirituality and religion so Eastern thought is nothing new to me. In fact, I am very well read on Zen but this "Soul Wisdom" was too far fetched even for me and I am one of the most open minded people you'll ever meet. That being said the packaging is nice and it comes with a free CD. I have no idea what's on it since I never opened mine. By the time I finished this book I was hoping my soul would never speak to me or anyone else. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-10-07 02:13:13 EST)

This book was not at all what I expected it to be. It is long, 300 pages, but it seems even longer as you read it's convoluted twists and turns. The author claims to be Divine. He claims that by reading certain passages, the Divine Wisdom will enter your body. He claims that when you, too, become divine, then YOU can heal others as well. Singing? Chanting? The book even comes with a CD of the author singing. I played it in the background on my computer at work and, frankly, found it annoying.
Dear Divine Golden Light Ball and Golden Liquid Spring of Divine Soul Language, please return to my soul. Hao. Hao. Hao. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Personally, I do not believe that by chanting certain passages will cure my spleen or cleanse my kidneys. In fact, I think it could almost be considered malpractice. Maybe this works for some people, but buyer be alert. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-10-06 04:29:06 EST)

I was curious about this book because of the brief description I had read. I figured that I am pretty open minded, and have heard about plenty of "way out there" things. This book is quite unusual because of the claims that the author makes. Dr. Sha makes. He seems very sincere, so you do want to believe that he is telling you the truth. The more I read, the weirder it sounded. I felt uncomfortable w/ the examples in the book. Of course I wanted to believe it was all true and good, but I am not easily fooled, and made the choice that this book wasn't for me.
If you are already a true believer of Dr. Sha's, then this book is for you. Anybody who isn't already a believer isn't going to become one by reading this book. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-10-02 02:10:05 EST)

If you're not completely in-tune with yourself you my find this book boasting or too personal to deal with. It is a little abstract for all but the most devout of spiritual practitioners. I find a lot of information and references to his other books a bit distracting. It sounds more like a sales pitch than a book of wisdom. I am writing this review not having completely finished reading the book. If I find otherwise or discover some special ending I will revise this review. The reading of the first chapter was fairly easy. It slowed down from there on. I think someone who would appreciate this book would be someone who doesn't even need it. I don't know who this book was written for. It is an expression of the author. Like waving your hand. But you don't have to pay to see someone wave their hand. The best things in life are free.

My biggest problem is the amount of time it would seem the author expects us to devote to this in our busy lives. A few minutes here, a few minutes there, and obviously, like in "The Secret," it works only if you really devote yourself to it. First you have to accept that these chant are reaching the Divine and that 'it' cares to help you.
Don't get me wrong, I'm a full believer in the 'force' - that all in nature is connected, as he states. He talks about the 'dance' of nature which is also referred to as the Dance of Shiva (I think), and also has been demonstrated, I believe, in physics (I'm no scientist). But one of my biggest problems is its repetitiveness, almost to the point of boring me. While repetitiveness can be beneficial, it depends on what's being repeated. Here, I just got annoyed. While I was surprised to find a strong event happened to me on August 8, 2003, and was willing to go along for the ride, I quickly decided that while he's right, about a lot of stuff, about using the soul to change an outlook, attitude and health - there have got to be better ways to explain and demonstrate and help people to 'get it' than this. I work for a psychiatric facility. I am a clinician in outpatient but run groups in our partial care program. I focus on mind body and soul when it comes to recovery. That said I am open to "New Age" type of philosophies and thinking. I thought this book was going to be similar to Deepak Chopra, etc. IT WAS NOT. It pushes the envelope and not in a good way. It can confuse or exacerbate those who are religiously preoccupied or others who are vulnerable to any kind of influence. It came across as very "cult-like" for me. Everyone has their own opinion but I would STRONGLY reccomend checking this book out at a library before plunking down your hard earned cash.

Honestly, I hated this book. I hated the subject matter, I could not relate, I did not believe. The book is also extremely repetitive in it's message, but I could see how that could be important when you are trying to teach a message. So why 3 stars? I think I chose the wrong book to read, I thought it was something else based on the cover and description, I should have read the intro. To people who understand the theories and what this book is about, it may be 4 or 5 stars and perfect for them. I do think the general description was misleading, though. Positives - The packaging is cool and includes an interesting CD companion. The author is obviously very knowledgeable and excited about his subject, it is what kept me reading through to the end in order to give a proper review. I cannot believe that anyone would buy into this hocus-pocus. While the author's credentials seem incredible, I did not find this work as a whole credible. The idea that the "Divine" would appear to him while he was teaching a class could be true; however, the idea that the author somehow has these supernatural divine powers that enable him to "downloads" powers to the reader on certain pages in his book are offensive to our intelligence.
His mental downloading of "Soul Language" to the reader is also nonsense, but I have to admit, I did learned how to say 3,396,815 in Chinese. Chanting it over and over faster did not give me any kind of spiritual tongues that the author claimed it would, but it is a useful distraction that could be used in "Mindfulness" meditation. I suggest that those looking for peace and tranquility look into Thich Nhat Hanh's books. The author's "Soul Song "music was not a complete loss. Although I grew tired of hearing his "Farmer in the Dell" like, E-I-E- I-O" lyric, the music was nice. For the most part this book was filled with worthless swill tainted by the author's outlandish claims. After reading so many great self-help books, I found this one boring and not worth the time and effort getting past the author's stupendous claims. If you want to read powerful self-help books, read The Power of Being Different by John Carinci; The Miracle of Mindfulness by Thich Nhat Hanh; Learning from the Heart: Lessons on Living, Loving, and Listening by Daniel Gottieb; Turning the Mind Into an Ally by Sakyon Mipham; The Mindful Way through Depression: Freeing Yourself from Chronic Unhappiness by J. Mark G. Williams; or the wisdom books in the Bible. I am sure I'll get a backlash from cult followers; however, I think it is a safe bet that you can skip this book. This book currently resides in file 13.
Firstly, I need to state the good. Dr. Sha is a universal servant dedicating his life to his mission to transform the world. Dr. Sha reveals some "secrets" he learned from his teachers in Asia whom he doesn't want to name probably because they never intended for the knowledge to be wide-spread. The book is extremely repetitive. It should have been 83-odd-pages-long. He starts out trying to teach you Soul Language by giving you a numeric sequence to say over and over again in Chinese. This sequence is supposed to unlock your soul language. If this doesn't work for you, don't read on, the rest of the book will waste your time. This soul language is not dissimilar to the Christian concept of speaking in tongues, Dr. Sha even makes that connection to Christianity. He says that the Divine gave him the ability to write this book with "Divine downloads" that you can receive from reading. The words he uses like "divine downloads" does not add any spiritual feeling to the book, it feels kind of dry. Unless you're into the whole Keanu Reeves Matrix world view, you'd better find another book for spiritual enlightenment. He tries to teach a few other soul exercises that involve the whole body but if you are hung up on the Soul Language thing the book won't be worth the money. Dr. Sha might be a great writter using his native language but he lacks the English vocabulary to make this an interesting and useful read. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-09-24 01:08:23 EST)

I ordered this from the Vine program because I have a relative who is very spiritual and has a hard time relaxing, even at the end of a full day; it has worked wonders. The author, from what I understand, has a fantastic synthesis of Chinese/Buddhistic techniques that get one "in touch with the divine". One of the meditative techniques involves a relaxation of the spine which she adores. I would recommend to anybody who just wants to chill out and discover some profound ideas at the same time. Great!

Having read a couple of Dr. Sha's previous books I was hoping to find more good information on holistic healing. This book does have some good information and insights about the topic, but I found it's writing style very repetitive and often inclined more toward style than substance.
Dr. Sha uses spiritual and vibrational methods for healing... what I would consider using frequency and intention to facilitate healing. Here he focuses on "soul songs," "soul dance," and other methods of opening up energy flow. The book comes with a sample CD that you can try. The book contains a variety of statements about the spiritual guidance provided to help develop these healing methods... sort of implying a direct connection to the Creator providing these healing practices. Some of the author's statements of what he believes about spiritual/nonphysical realities are questionable. I do consider Sha's healing wisdom and methods to be useful, but I wouldn't take all he writes as gospel. Also, since this book is long, wordy, and repetitive, you may want to find an abridged or audio version. I would personally recommend Dr. Sha's earlier books over this one. I saw this book and I thought it would be very interesting to read. This is not an easy book to read. I found the author's style of writing blocking what his true intentions were. It also seemed that he was promoting more of himself than truly helping you have insight to your inner spirit, purpose and transformation.
I will admit that I did not finish the book because of the difficulty of trying to understand what was being conveyed. I am definitely a lover of spiritually since my mother has written two books on the subject and I grew up understanding the universal principals. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-09-20 02:11:26 EST)

From reading the product synopsis before ordering this book, Soul Wisdom: Practical Soul Treasures to Transform Your Life (Soul Power) seemed like a positive and philosophical self-help book in the eastern traditions of budhissim. What it seems like now is an exercise in the universal tradition of agrandizement, self-deification and the fleecing of the flock. I normally would not be bothered by another belief system, but this book is an incredibly lengthy and ineffective method to search for the peace I thought would result from reading it. I chose this book over others as I seek to find understanding under very difficult personal circumstances. The time I spent reading this could have been better spent on other materials.
I am very open minded to other belief systems. But I have a problem with authors putting themselves in the camp of the Divine, much less at the dinner table. I can understand those philosophies where people say we are all a part of the Divine, or have the Divine in us. That is not this. This book states the author is in the league as the Divine and will let us in on all of his *secrets* .... for a price. Right off the bat I was somewhat wary. Still I read on. Well after reading this book I want those 12 hours of my life back. I know this is one in a series. For all those who belong to Dr. Sha's considerable entourage, I mean no disrespect. But I am also extremely put off by the large numbers of reviews of people stating, "I am anxiously awaiting to attend the seminar with high-highness on ." Have you people ever heard of Jonestown? The book gets an extra star for quality production. The included CD is really worthless unless you have drunken the kool-aid. I for one will not. I will have to seek an aid for spiritual self-help elsewhere. All I felt I experienced here was the common distaste I have for others who profit from the weak and desperate. Sorry, I would avoid this one. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-09-20 02:11:26 EST)

This book was beautifully written with an easy flow to it. That said, it wasn't, however, what I expected it to be. I, like a lot of reviewers, expected something akin to what other spiritual leaders or buddhist authors have put out. While I think some of the principles are interesting - I think to bring this book with you into "real" life is not possible. I expected wisdom and practicle thought, but overall I just ended up uncomfortable. That is my own personal baggage, hence four stars instead of three.

This is a book to be avoided by anyone interested in authentic "spirituality". It is traditional hocus pocus, where the author claiming that he has special and unique knowledge educates the ignorant reader in special chants that will reveal soul to the earnest seeker. This is, of course, childish nonsense. Author's like these are particularly appalling because they USE the vulnerability of their readers to spend money on junk like this. Chanting and mantras are ... oddly just chanting and mantras. If you enjoy doing that sort of thing, then go for it.
One more thing, this book could have been published in pamphlet form. It possesses remarkably little content. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-09-20 02:11:26 EST)

While the subject matter seems good, and it has glowing reviews from other respected authors, I found the language to be a bit out there for me - such as the use of terms like "divine downloads," which I still don't understand, even after reading about them. I don't know, I just felt like I was reading another language or something, so I didn't really get much out of it.

Soul Wisdom is a perfect title for this book. It is all about our sould journey and healing emotions, events, situations that are currently occuring or happened in our past. It requires an open mind as some of the statements and discussions of the book mention past lives, but if you keep your mind open and go with the flow you may find the book quite useful like I did.
For example, honestly is a virtue I honor and I am one of those blunt people that can sometimes, not intentionally make people feel bad. The book cautions that honestly is the best policy, but how to harness that honestly from a place of love and concern, so that it is not delivered in a harsh manner. This was a hard pill for me to swallow but I opened myself up and I always believe honestly is the best policy regardless, but state my peace, without having to have my ego attached it. The Book also discuss GRATITUDE. How an active Gratitude causes us to experience more gratitude and more prosperity in our loves. The book is a great tool and also comes along with a great CD for those looking to start making changes in lives. I would say it is a great book as a gift for a love one or friend . While there is certainly some good advice and value in this book, it is not that easy to accept all that Dr. Sha teaches.
I have always been taught that when you want to teach someone a new lesson, you must start with where they are, build on where they are and then take them to the new material. In this way you have a chance of greater understand. Unfortunate for most of western society, Dr. Sha fails to start where we are. So most of those with a western mindset are left to question what he says or to blindly accept. I have a lot of trouble accepting what anyone says on blind faith. There are some things that should have been explained. According to Dr. Sha, the Soul Light Era began on August 8, 2003 and will last for 15,000 years. Quite frankly, I had never heard of the Soul Light Era. Who or what decided when it was to start? Some background information would have helped me understand that better. According to Dr. Sha, we need to practice Soul Language and the way to do that is to chant a set of numbers in Chinese. Why Chinese? Why those particular numbers? Again I need to understand why. Dr. Sha assumes that we all believe in reincarnation. Most Christian do not. Yet he makes no effort to support his assumption. The book is rather difficult to read and is extremely repetitive. There are some valid points. The world is in a rather sorry shape and that is basically due to our materialistic value system. We need to get away from serving the ego and realize the inner connection of all beings. Dr. Sha talks about the need for no attachments and no expectations. When we are focused on outcomes, we always have expectations and attachments and therefore diminish our ability to obtain what we want. If you are new to Dr. Sha's works, I would suggest starting with some other book. If you already are a follower of Dr. Sha, you will probably love this book. I wanted to like this book and I did enjoy parts of it, however it is dumbed down and trying to reach, well I am not sure who he is trying to reach. As I read it I found it very repetitive and the phrasing of his ideas so off-putting I will never finish the book.
I would like to add here that even if I don't agree with some of the "teachings" in this book, I do think the author is honest and trying to get his message out there. It just isn't for me. I come away from the book feeling like I am not the person he was talking to. Others here have bashed the bonus CD that is included, I enjoy it and listen to it about once every few days. I read the description of this book and really was interested in reading this novel. Yet, I think the description was probably better written and presented than the majority of the novel. I really, really, really didn't 'get' this. I feel like the author's style of writing was the biggest problem. Too many times I found myself lost, thinking I had been re-reading the same pages. Well, it turned out that a lot of the same ideas or concepts were simply being repeated over and over and it took far too long to get to the actual 'meat' of the book.
Another problem I had with the novel is that it succumbs to the pitfalls of the 'self help' book: it sounds rather hokey. I think, and based on looking at other reviews, that you'll either get and understand the whole 'soul wisdom' concepts presented or you won't and I unfortunately was in the 'don't get it' group. I couldn't see myself applying most of these suggestions and concepts in my own life or even feeling fully comfortable taking this advice since I felt Zhi Sha was pushing a product, 'soul wisdom', over actual self-help material. I just didn't understand or find myself trusting this book. In conclusion, not very engaging but to each his own. I'd buy it used for sure. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-09-20 02:11:27 EST)

SOUL WISDOM is one of those books that had it come along at any other time in my life I'd have passed up. But who, facing the end of their 20's and some major life changes, hasn't felt the need for something divine to step in?
To give my review I have to note a few very crucial elements of my upbringing. 1. I grew up in a very culturally diverse region. 2. While the majority of my family are/were Christians, I was exposed to Eastern religion and philosophy from an early age. 3. The people who raised me--my parents, extended family, family friends and caregivers--all contributed to my belief that spirituality and religion are NOT the same thing. I believe that these three keys are what allowed me to be able to pick up SOUL WISDOM without immediately thinking "woah this is some hokey stuff". Master Sha is an excellent teacher. His way of teaching through this written form is careful, precise and repetitive. Some have commented that the repetition is annoying. At times I too felt a bit frustrated by that as I sought to absorb the concepts of Soul Language. But without repitition and practice I don't see how anyone could put into practice the meditations and mantras here. When actors memorize lines they don't read them once and just go out and say them on stage. They must learn the words, but also the scene so that they can be presented in the correct tone and context. Have I been able to use what I've learned from this book? In all honesty, no. I think it will take more than just reading the book like fiction to be able to understand everything Master Sha has presented and put it to any use within my life. But one thing I have taken from it and really want to embrace is the concept of gratitude. In our society we have certainly cheapened the meaning of the simple words "thank you". We utter them for selfish reasons. We thank others so they won't think we are unappreciative of whatever they have done for us. Master Sha takes this further and suggests that we be thankful for even the painful things that happen to us. Why? Because these are lessons and blessings put in our path to strengthen us on our journey. This book and the concepts held within are not for most. They require a very open mind and heart to even absorb, let alone live. But anyone can benefit from the teachings of Master Sha if they want to. Anyone wanting to expand their mind, find a non-religious spiritual path or simply to read something really unusual could benefit from reading this. I have had personal experience with this doctor including attending soul language/wisdom workshops years ago that comprise the subject matter of this book. At his workshop, you will have the opportunity of seeing Dr. Sha's message put into practice. What to expect:
Buddhas, Jesus, Mary etc. active in the room with you. No, you will not see them, but Dr. Sha will have several of his workers who have "3rd eye" capabilities tell you they are there, and gasp at how miraculous it all looked. The same people will also interpret "soul language" for you. If you have an ailment, Dr. Sha may "download" a new organ for you by grasping the top of your head with his hand and putting on quite a show as he grunts and shakes, although he also does this remotely to 1000s at a time, without having to touch anyone at all. Some days he may download a whole system like "Divine Digestive System", other days it may be just an organ like "Divine Liver". He will spend time teaching you energy healing techniques but later you will learn that having a divine organ via his download is so much more powerful. He has disciples spend thousands of dollars to follow in his footsteps and become "healers". Once, he made an example of one of them who explained she was having "doubts" about all this. Dr Sha assured her, and everyone else that day, that these doubts came from evil entities that may be drawn to you as you advance spiritually. Dr. Sha likes to promote his books at his workshops and has told participants that God spoke with him about his (God's) wish to have his book "Power Healing" top the amazon best seller list. To that end, Dr. Sha urged people to buy as many books as possible and distribute them to jails, hospitals etc. As a reward, you will get more of Dr. Sha's products and/or organ downloads. If you think this all seems too far fetched, visit Dr. Shas website, [...]. where you can now even download items for your pets such as "divine beak", "divine paws", "divine tail". Karma cleansing to rid your pet of past life baggage is also offered. In the background, you will see images of different animals, among them a fish. It seems that prices have now come down from about $[...] to $[...]. I could go on, but hopefully I've raised enough red flags . . (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-09-20 02:11:27 EST)

I am usually pretty open to just about anything regarding self help or spiritual but Soul Wisdom just didn't do anything for me. I did try some of Dr. Sha's suggestions and chants, but I did not experience any evidence of change. It's really not his concept that bothers me, as much as the fact that the book is extremely repetitive. I think it could have been shortened to about 30 pages and Dr. Sha could have still said all he did. I have nothing against Dr. Sha, he seems to be a true believer, and if all the reviews are to be believed, it seems many others share that belief. However, I am writing a review on Soul Wisdom, and not the man himself. Therefore, my opinion of the book is that although I doubt it will do you harm, I also seriously doubt you will get anything out of it. I for one would rather spend my time reading books that I enjoy.

I've been interested in any and all forms of spiritual learning, healing and self-improvement for many years, even the so-called `hokey' concepts that have popped up from time to time such as Rhonda Byrne's `The Secret'. I actually found `The Secret' to an amazingly helpful tool for re-tuning my thoughts and actions and becoming more positive, self-aware and self-empowering, and I'd hoped for more of the same from Dr. Sha's particular form of meditation and inner spiritual work.
Right from the beginning, though, I was a little disappointed and on my guard. Although ironically enough I do not doubt his sincerity at all - he comes across as honest and genuine in his belief about what he's imparting - his references to "divine downloads" and love, love and more love struck me as simplistic and, frankly, unhelpful. His essential message is two-fold: that everything has a soul whether it be animate or inanimate - me, my cat, my coffee mug, the banana I had at lunch - and that we're moving beyond our current age of the mind and into an age of the soul, where we will all speak and communicate with each other and everything with our souls, utilizing soul language, soul dance, soul music and soul movement. It's actually a compelling idea and he half had my attention for a while, but the rest of the book was basically just a series of simple chanting and mental exercises that I didn't find all that helpful, although I may still give a few of them a try. It could be that I'm just too self-centered to be much moved by the idea of `soul communication' to begin with, because I'm at a point in my life right now where the idea of communicating on a 'soul' level with masses of other people, in particular, is anathema. That will perhaps come later, but I'm not there yet. Right now I'm more focused on myself - my own self-improvement and inward searching, before I can take that outward. Therefore, I think a person's reaction to this book may just depend on where he or she is on their own individual spiritual journey. All in all it's a decent exercise into an interesting concept, if you're open to it. Dr. Sha does come across as an engaging and passionate person, almost child-like in his eagerness and pure joy. He would certainly be an interesting person to meet and talk with. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-09-15 06:20:59 EST)

I didn't like the many references to how he was chosen to deliver these methods as if nobody else could have come across the perls of wisdom. Some of the techniques are really helpful and I tried a couple of them with success. The affirmations work as they always have. I flet that there was a little too much doctrine in it. I didn't like being told to read the chapters in sequence and the part about the downloads. It made me feel weird as if should the "downloads" not work then it must be my fault.
But it is worth reading for somebody who is into that sort of thing; it was interesting to read despite the author's insistence that he is the chosen one, which is why I gave it a three. The CD did not play so I cannot say anything about that unfortunately. I was very curious about it. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-09-15 06:20:59 EST)

When it comes to self-help books, they call me "Sir Self-Help". I've been reading these things literally since I learned to read, starting with Autobiography of a Yogi (Reprint of Original 1946 Edition) back in the early seventies (and several times since), along with Dale Carnegie's stuff, Napoleon Hill, Steven Covey, you name it. I've also read real estate guides, investment guides, physicality things like Body for Life: 12 Weeks to Mental and Physical Strengthand The South Beach Diet: The Delicious, Doctor-Designed, Foolproof Plan for Fast and Healthy Weight Loss (The South Beach Diet). I even read Dianetics, before I found out "the" L. Ron Hubbard was a goofball. If there is some aspect of one's life that can be improved (supposedly, or for real) by reading a book, I've read it. (I'll refrain from commenting on whether anything actually improved.) So, having never heard of Dr. (really?) Zhi and his long line of books, I jumped at the chance to improve my life by improving my soul through reading this book. After all, I thought, I've been ignoring my soul since I stopped going to church 25 years ago. And, judging by what others have said about this guy, and the length and apparent thoroughness of this book, I'd have to say this guy is probably onto something with his approach of addressing the essence of our being, the soul. But as I read the book I started to notice: he says a lot about "The Divine" and "The Soul" and such, without ever really telling you what they are, why they are, how to harness them, or actually getting in touch with them, or anything like that. He just makes up a bunch of stuff and you can't doubt its veracity because you're not really sure what he's talking about. He teaches you a chant and says that if you say it real fast, "soul language" comes out. Well, some noise comes out alright, as your tongue gets twisted and tied, but is that soul language? I guess so. Maybe. Or maybe not. True, I have no doubt that the majority of his repetitive suggestions would be fulfilling and helpful, if you were some kind of degenerate criminal or half wit. But if I understand what it is he's trying to say, boiled down to its essence, it is, "Be nice. Lend a hand. Make some sacrifices." Thanks, doctor. That said, I've always felt that while most self help books serve as useful guides, you only get out of anything what you put into it. This book is no exception. I truly believe that if you are into this stuff, Dr. Zhi will be a big help to you, and you'll probably end up feeling better about yourself and your life. Heck, you might even enjoy the creepy, discomforting CD included with this book. So if you're looking for something a little different than the chicken soup, positive attitude, think it into reality, self-help realm, "Soul Wisdom" will be right up your alley. If you're a little on the skeptical side, it will only be good for a couple of giggles and a vague sense of unmet expectations.

This was an interesting read not necessarily new or enlighten having read many similar books about spirituality, loving our fellow man, and our Universe. That being said it is still a pretty good book. Sort of New Age/Eastern spirituality. Even if you are not normally into this sort of stuff you will still be able to appreciated the positive, peaceful , flow of this book. You dont have to agree with everything and you probably wont, who knows you may even learn somethingn new!

my initial reaction in reading this book was that it was sort of hokie. as i read more of it, i found myself surrendering to the methods that he espouses. by the end, i concluded - (1) there was nothing written within this book that would be contrary to the teachings of any other religion, and (2) practicing this methodology, or any other methodology, with the kind of faith and practice that he recommends results in spiritual growth!!! whatever tactic we take, we must embrace it. this text has really helped me to appreciate, re-examine my humility to the divine, and feel greater compassion than before. achieving an iota of change in these areas is tremendous progress and is well worth the read. this is NOT a book that ought to be read at 2 minutes a page ... there are so many exercises ... this book takes weeks to read through it the first time... this book undoubtedly requires re-reading on a periodic basis ...

Dr. Zhi Gang Sha makes some extraordinary claims. He claims to have been contacted by The Divine, and to be its servant. He also claims to have studied under the highest Taoist, Buddhist and Confucian masters. I do not doubt that such things are possible, but I am not sure how one could prove or disprove such claims.
I like to pretend that I am a free-thinker, open to many different ideas. Yet when a book begins with a claim to Divine inspiration, I wonder why it is necessary to make the claim at all. It would seem that such a claim would convince only the most gullible, and would put off most others. In fact, if one actually has studied Taoism, it would seem that a more indirect approach would be used. The heart of the book is a discussion of "Soul Language," which leads to "Soul Songs," "Soul Movement," "Soul Tapping," and "Soul Dance." To learn to speak Soul Language, one is supposed to chant a mantra faster and faster and faster until a new voice emerges, the Soul's voice. That voice can be used to heal one's self and others, and to generally accomplish good things. In other traditions, chanting mantras is a way to attune with The Divine. The approach taken in this book may be considered a variation on that theme. Soul language may just be another phrase used to describe the wisdom one gains from such attunement. If one is attuned with The Divine, one can heal and spread light and love into the world. The book also emphasizes the importance of gratitude for one's blessings and the importance of service to others (especially when it is unseen and unacknowledged). These are virtues that need to be emphasized in this world, so I was pleased to see them in the book. There is a music CD included with the book. The CD contains a 14 minute song for healing of the brain and spinal column. The music might not be everyone's favorite, but I must admit that it has a peculiarly soothing effect on me. I've listened to it several times. Readers who have studied Eastern philosophy and other the esoteric traditions may not gain much new from this book. Those who have not read or studied much may find the book useful. Dr. Zhi Gang Sha blends theory with practice, with an emphasis on the "practical." For a deeper (intellectual) understanding one might want to read the Taoist and Buddhist classics. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-09-11 01:10:55 EST)

INTRO:
I received this book from the Amazon Vine Program. Luckily, I was not parted from my $16 retail + shipping and handling. After reading the dozens of 5 stars from this site, I figured this book has got to be written of some Divine Perfection. After reading the book and reviewing the 5 star reviews, they have only reviewed this particular author's books and books related to it. So the validity of the 5 star ratings is in question. THE CD: Out of curiosity, I began to listen to the music CD. A unintelligible chant begins, and then a soft piano plays in the background. "E", "I", "Ohhhh"... "E", "I", "Ohhhh"..."E", "I", "Ohhhh"... chanting in the foreground. Did he not learn the lyrics of "Old Macdonald" (Old Macdonald had a farm, E-I-E-I-OH) ? Maybe it was lost in the translation. I received a chill in my spine. Alternating between the beautiful piano and the "E-I-O" singing was enough for me. Out goes the CD, and onto the book. THE BOOK: The credentials of this man was impressive and so it was worth a try in reading this book. So we start out with an altruistic goal: "My total life mission is to transform the consciousness of humanity and souls in the universe, in order to join all souls as one to create love, peace and harmony for humanity, Mother Earh and the universe." Through this is his 3 empowerments: Universal service, teach healing, and "to teach soul secrets and wisdom to transmit Divine Soul Power, to empower people to use Soul Power to transform every aspet of their lives and enlighten their souls, hearts, minds and bodies." He goes on state "However, I am not teaching religion. I am teaching Soul Power, which includes soul secrets, soul wisdom, soul knowledge, and soul practices." I am thinking at this point, "Boy it is sounding like an invitation to a cult, if you ask me". He goes on to start the origins of this journey with April 2003 where he receives "spiritual law" from the Divine and in July 2003 where he transmits healing and blessing treasures to a man named Walter who is later cured of his liver cancer. This is supposedly coming from a Medical Doctor? This reminds me of Uri Geller and his healing powers of my old clock radio. He speaks of a Divine who utilizes preprogram Divine Downloads in each book of this series (the Divine is a true marketer). Divine Downloads? I continue reading and at this point, the skeptic in me is raging. Shall I continue reading this book? Another statement is another red flag for me "As you read this book, my souls will always be with you...I will be your servant forever." I am thinking, "Whoa! I have had enough". 10 minutes of this and that and awful chants, I had read enough. This is some Eastern approach to swindling your money and time. I am not usually harsh with reviews and I try to see the positive light. He speaks of universal love and altruism. That's where it ends. VERDICT: Save your money, and save your time. Stay away. Stay far, far away from this one. This one is not even worth one star. The book just went into the trash...along with the CD. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-09-11 01:10:55 EST)

The title of this book was what caught my attention. I found it to be magnetic. And I had not heard of the author before, in spite of the fact he's had a best seller, so I was intrigued.
Am not sure I would have continued reading it were it not for the endorsement of Dr. Michael Beckwith, and the educational background of the author, because I felt cautious, and a little uncomfortable. There's a strangeness about the writing, even though it's not high brow. I felt the same way about the CD which is included. The chant sounded like the refrain from "Old McDonald Had a Farm." But I kept listening to the CD and was able to get past that. Perhaps the tone of the writing is a cultural "thing" that I had to adjust to. What I liked about Dr. Sha's approach is that I am able to tie it in with my personal belief system to a large extent. (Though I am not sure I will ever be convinced of reincarnation.) It's clear that the exercises he suggests will take time to apply. So the real proof of this book for me will not be that I found it interesting or that I liked being introduced to a new teacher. It will be if the program works for me in a way that things I've tried in the past have not. I feel optimistic that I will experience some level of spiritual growth as a result of reading Soul Wisdom. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-09-11 01:10:55 EST)

What a disapointment. This is not at all what I expected. I couldn't even finish reading this. From what I did read none of the authors experiences are based on truth. Nothing can be proved or is documented. The reader is treated like a idiot. Am I really supposed to believe that a "Divine Download" is embedded into the pages of the book? All I have to do is read them & I will recieve the "Download" if I'm ready? Then I will be healed? This isn't soul wisdom it's hogwash. I recommend this to no one! I thought this would be a book on meditation & self healing. Finding inner peace etc. I suppose that this is what is supposed to be about but I can't find healing when reading repetitive pages of pure BS!

Although I believe that there are many things that take place in this world of which most of us are unaware, and I am inclined to give unusual methods a try with an open mind, I find myself skeptical of the, ". . . the Soul Treasures," that could transform our lives.
This is my first introduction to Dr. Sha. Perhaps if I'd read his earlier books before this one I would be more open to the possibility of trusting in the chant, 3396815, which is to be said in Chinese, and translates to, "San San Jiu Liu Ba Yao Wu." By repeating this chant one is supposed to be able to find their Soul Language, which will begin to be heard from our mouths after much practice. This doesn't sound far fetched; I've studied - briefly - meditation and chanting, so I do believe in those practices and I can see the benefit of chanting. As to eventually hearing a Soul Language, however, stretches my imagination. But to be fair, I haven't given it much of a chance. Sha does say it can take longer for some. After we find our Soul Language, we graduate to finding our Soul Song, Soul Movement, Soul Tapping and Soul Dance. We also can access Divine Downloads. I find the wording, Divine Downloads, a little distracting. AS I understand it, Divine Downloads are gifts we receive when we chant - kind of like our prayers are being answered. Much of the book is repetitive and I think maybe a more succinct volume would be more convincing and much easier to read. At this point (after one reading) I am not intrigued enough to read the book again, or dig more deeply into the concepts of Souls Language, Soul Song, Soul Movement, Soul Tapping or Soul Dance. Perhaps if I were more patient or not so skeptical, I would study this volume more. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-09-11 01:10:55 EST)

I am a student of spirituality and like to open myself up to various thoughts. However, I admit that I found this book at times alarming, elementary, and halfway decent stuff.
I think that my main issues with the book stem from the fact that the author uses "soul" in places were he's talking about energy (or chi) and in others referring to the higher self (what we commonly think of as "soul"), so when he starts talking about soul transplants, I think it's easy to see why I became alarmed. I appreciate that everyone needs to get their information in ways that work best for them. And a lot of what is mentioned, talking about service, humbleness, love, is good information and worthy of reading in any form. If you don't get too caught up on soul transplants, and reprogramming your soul via software downloads that are apparently sprinkled through the book...well ... I will admit that I was definately not comfortable with the subject matter of the book. I wanted to like it. I was eager to learn more self-help and personal transformation techniques. I was hoping that I could add yet another tool in my personal transformation toolbox. I was left wondering if this were a cult, if the author were dangerous, or just blissfully unaware and not clarifying his terms. I'm really hoping that it was the later. If it wasn't...please, be careful. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-09-11 01:10:55 EST)

This book is not what I thought it would be. I did not realize that Dr. Sha would be inviting us to join his cult, in which he is the new prophet who communicated directly with the Divine and shares the revelations with his adoring minions by way of "Divine Downloads." He is so devoted to universal service that he even offers a full catalog of his other books and bracelets and other products, available for purchase to those who want this prophet to profit. The writing is repetitious and redundant and circular. This book will get no more than the fifteen minutes I have already devoted to it. The author is a self-aggrandizing charlatan.

Sadly, we live in a society that has taught us not to trust ourselves or our own intuitive knowing. Society has established experts in every field, and we allow them to dictate our decisions and direct our lives. This might be a good idea in areas where we have no expertise, such as house or car repairs, but it can be disastrous when our spiritual growth is concerned. Dr. Zhi Gang Sha is presented as not only a medical doctor, but a grandmaster of many ancient disciplines. Unfortunately, his expertise in these areas does not keep him from embracing some of the more backward beliefs common to many established religions.
Dr. Sha's book is repetitive to the point that the reader may feel that they are being brainwashed. It is contradictory throughout. Dr. Sha promises obedient practitioners of his methods "powerful and transforming blessings," but also states that they will have to undergo intense suffering and tests for thousands of lifetimes before they can work their way though the many levels of heaven he claims exist. Dr. Sha employs valueless "circular logic" throughout the book. Just as many followers of various religions claim that their religious book is true because the book itself claims to be true, Dr. Sha wants his readers to believe that the Divine visits him regularly and a new 15,000 year long "Soul Light Era" began on August 8, 2003, simply because he says it's true. Quantum physics and the many spiritual masters whose teachings have adhered to the perennial philosophy, teach that everything in existence is one thing and equally valuable to the whole. Dr. Sha sets up a system of "levels" that includes levels of personal spiritual virtue, levels and sublevels of heaven, and even a heaven beyond heaven. Like many religions, adherents must work their way up the levels by practicing "secret" methods such as speaking in tongues, doing good works, proving they are obedient and healing their souls and the souls of others. Sha's God, like the God of the Old Testament, keeps a record of every deed humans perform, and demands retribution in the form of Karma, suffering and repayment. Sha claims Karma can be cleansed, but this can be done by only a very few high level practitioners, and it will be successful for only a few "special" individuals (according to Sha's website, this type of healing has a price). Besides the fact that this book is very poorly written and offers no logical backing for the information that is contained in it, a potential reader may wish to ask themselves whether or not they want to expose themselves to teachings that amount to a variation of fundamental religion. When the reader looks behind the new age verbiage, they will find that Sha preaches a dysfunctional God, a unique book (in this case Dr. Sha's series of books), a "special time period," a laity-clergy class, belief in sin and the need to expiate it through obedience, suffering, good works, rituals, "secret" methods and formulas. The "rewards" offered for obedience are non-specific and allow Dr. Sha to claim that his followers are being blessed even when they are having very negative experiences. When Jesus' disciples spoke in tongues at Pentecost, there was a large group of people gathered in the city who spoke these languages. The people then had the benefit of being able to understand the disciples' message in their own language. Sha claims that if no one can translate the "soul language" he teaches his followers to speak, they should feel blessed simply because they can utter these unintelligible sounds. The teachings contained in this book smack of the danger signals of a cult. He admonishes his followers to continue practicing his methods even though their friends and relatives tell them they are crazy. He assures them that they are doing a great deal of good for the entire universe even though no one else can see or understand the value. He continually repeats the need for obedience, even when the follower does not understand what they are doing. Sha places himself as a savior-like intermediary that has a direct line of communication with God. He implies that his teachings are directly inspired by God. He claims that practicing his methods confers specialness on his followers. He admits that a rift may occur between those who practice his methods and those who do not, but encourages his followers to feel that this rift proves that they are doing the right thing, and they will be blessed by God for their efforts. Experts have their place, but it is the foundation of reason to make certain that the experts we open our minds and hearts to offer us something of real value. I've been reading a lot of metaphysical books recently in the same search as many people out there and this book has touched me in ways that others have not. It is well written and structured in a friendly manner which is helpful when entering unfamiliar personal zones. It also comes with an mp3 disc of a soul song that I've had playing on repeat for the last two days in the background and I've truly enjoyed it there. Dr.Zhi Gang Sha is able to introduce us to a wise & wonderful way of life that many but not all will be ready for,but the others will be welcomed and loved by his writings when they are ready for such thinking.(Note other reviews!)This is a warm and wonderful book.

Soul Wisdom- Practical Soul Treasures to Transform Your Life
This book is by a bestselling author and `soul expert'. I have read many books on New Age thoughts, many religious philosophies and texts, and many books in which the author claimed to be in direct communication with God, Angels, Advanced Spiritual Beings, or Jesus. And who doesn't want to believe that they can read a book and be connected with divine healing? Based on the title- I thought this was - finally- the exact book I needed. My enthusiasm however, was short lived. After reading the several introductions, forwards, and prefaces, the reader quickly learns that this knowledge of soul healing has come to the author- and only the author- from the Divine- directly- during the author's seminars on the soul. This SHOULD raise a red flag to every reader. It seems the author has been selected by the Divine based on how well he lived his past lives. He repeats over and over how he is doing this all to serve mankind, and how much he loves us. Who would question the motives of such a person as being possibly- that of financial gain by selling books and giving seminars- when they tell us so repeatedly that they are just our servants and love us? And of course, if the method fails, there is a lot of room for it being our fault for not doing things properly. It seems a great deal of what the reader is to learn, is soul language. This sounds good- on paper. Soul language is supposed to be something every soul understands and can relate to. However, at times the author mentions that people not schooled in soul language would need a translator, and at other times he seems to think everyone would understand it. Everyone's soul language is slightly different, only every soul recognizes soul language. You learn YOUR soul language by chanting the number 3396815- in Chinese, as a meditation, saying it over and over and faster and faster until you are speaking gibberish- which is your soul language. I kept trying it, but all I ever got- was Chinese sounding gibberish. Further, the book, as well as all the books he writes from now on, are loaded with secret messages from the Divine- which have to be used exactly as he states them. They will not work, he warns, in any other manner or with an alteration. He calls these messages `Divine Downloads'. For example, the reader finally gets to the first Divine Download, which reads "Divine Soul Transplant of Divine Golden Light Ball and Golden Liquid Spring of Divine Soul Language from the Divine's heart and soul to your soul. Silent download!" The book also covers Soul Song (which might provide inspiration, like listening to hymns in Church), Soul Movement (which would be healthy for you), Soul Tapping, and so forth. Despite elsewhere in the book saying various bits were given directly to the author at his seminar, near the end of the book he says the "I received the entire contents of this book in one brief transmission or "download" from the Divine." There is no doubt that this book contains some wonderful truths. For example, unconditional love, forgiveness, and compassion can bring your soul and your life healing benefits. Doing body movements such as Tai Chi, Qi Gong (or yoga) can bring your body and mind energy, stamina, and vitality. And no doubt that if people sincerely believe this can help them, and that they can learn Soul Language and the divine downloads, they may even be helped. And if it doesn't help you in this lifetime- not to worry, because the author says it will help your soul in other lifetimes. However, I recommend getting your local Library to get the book for you. If readers spend as much time during the day thinking happy, positive thoughts, and mentally picturing their body as being healthy, forgiving others, releasing anger, and yes, eating a healthy diet with exercise, no doubt they will have a lot of health benefits from that as well. I will give you an often quoted truth, but truth it is- never dwell on a negative or angry thought. And save your money, especially if you are desperate for healing. I found the "Soul Song" mp3 file to have a very emotionally moving and healing chant within it. I recommend hearing the CD first and then read to book. I think this would help the book be understood better. There are a number of books that talk about "empowerments" and "DNA downloads". These kinds of initiations are being shared in many ways now, during this transitional time. This book is similar to those and unique in its own way. It focuses more on releasing the soul song than others, which sometimes only use visualizations or more formalized chants. Each has some value. I am not sure if this book offers enough different from some of the other books with a similar theme. The collection of exercises is fairly unique because of the focus on voicing the "soul song". LIVING IN THE LIGHT by Shakti Gawain has a similar feel for me to this book, but uses visualizations and gentle breathing. THE STARSEED TRANSMISSIONS by Ken Carey is my favorite "download" book, though it contains no exercises. There is a shift in feeling and an attuning to information coming through just following what the book is sharing in present time. The author seems to get into a similar space through methods involving "voicing" and may have something useful for people more attuned to this kind of approach. All in all, the books that help one to connect to higher sources of healing are all useful and this book is a decent expression of this kind of information.

As someone who enjoys Brian Weiss, Stuart Wilde, even a little Neale Donald Walsch, my new age mysticism credentials aren't too shabby. But Soul Wisdom is a bit much for me.
The premises of the book are two: 1) There are souls in all things, guiding principles that make the universe work, and lessons life teaches us for which we ought to be grateful. 2) If we chant a number sequence in Chinese so fast that we're no longer coherent, we'll start speaking a mystical Soul Language that puts us in touch with the Divine. The author should have stopped with point 1. I don't doubt that there is a Divine. There may well be a way to get in touch with Him, Her or It. But I don't think chanting to the point of incoherence is the trick that everyone's missed till now. Yes, the chanting's fun - I did try it. But I think the peaceful feeling following comes because you've gotten the brain to disengage and aren't saying anything, not because you're suddenly channeling God. Most likely, this Soul Language is mild, self-induced hypnosis. What's saddening, and maddening, is that this book does contain a lot of Soul Wisdom. The passages on gratitude for the ills life brings are sweetly hopeful, the discourses on the universality of souls are well worth thinking about. But the best of this book is buried beneath a pile of mysticism and "Divine Downloads" of the sophisticated fortune cookie variety. Some of the reviewers have nothing but positive things to say, positing the author as a spiritual figure who has changed their lives and who will change the world. I'm glad they've had the experience and wish them all the best. But if I had a friend who was looking for a way to work through troubles and find new meaning and purpose, I'd be too concerned about the claims about Divine visits and Soul Language taking him or her further off course to recommend this. Better stick to Dyer and Chopra, or even The Secret. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-09-11 01:10:56 EST)

I cut my teeth on books dedicated to stretch us emotionally, mentally, spiritually. I was excited to hear what Dr. Gang Sha had to say. And I was truly disappointed.
I have strongly supported and cheered the holistic focus that has finally found its way to the mainstream. I have also watched a stream of New Age fluff find its way down that path as well. This book would fit into that category for me. There are "downloads" that you can mentally Absorb. There is pretty langugage and not a great deal of substance. Although the credentials listed on the book sound quite impressive, I also have to realize they were written by someone paid to spin the book impressive. Then I turn and look at the substantive work that people like Jon Kabat Zinn have done for thirty plus years and the clinical research that backs up their claims... and I think I will simply pass this fluff by for something with a little teeth. Included in the book is also a CD. Wow. I'm not even sure how to describe my take on that. Going into the recycle bin! (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-09-11 01:10:56 EST)

Let me start off by telling you that I did NOT approach this book as a skeptic. Given the appropriate circumstances, I will be happy to tell you about my past lives, spirit contacts, the spiritual exploration I have been on for many years, even engage in speculation on the significance of December 21, 2012. So when Dr. Zhi Gang Sha offered Soul Wisdom, I was prepared to listen.
Before getting far into the book, there were many red flags. Sha talks of "power" and "treasures" (things far removed from wisdom), of "secret codes" (one of which looks like the zip code for Honolulu with '33' tacked on the front) and ridiculous phrases like "Divine Downloads" and "Divine Soul Transplant of Divine Golden Light Ball and Golden Liquid Spring of Divine Soul Language". We are told that "this is the first time in history that the Divine has released these soul secrets". It soon becomes very obvious that Sha is not offering wisdom, but a form of religion. Portions of the book even resemble christian catechisms and chants in church hymnals. Sha tells us to chant nonsense syllables faster and faster until our pronunciation is slurred, and that's our soul language. None of this is wisdom, it's just self-promoting obfuscation with rote and rituals that get in the way of actually thinking and learning. I would call this book worse than a complete waste of time. While reading it, I repeatedly had the thought that if I had absolutely no respect for other people, I could write drivel like this and cash in, too. The idea that it is all about selling things and not about wisdom is supported by the catalog of things you can buy from Dr. Sha on the last few pages. The "bonus" CD is not an audio CD, but contains a 14 minute MP3 file of very repetitious chant. It disturbed my kitten when I played it, and I don't blame him one bit. Hmmm, reviewing this one is going to be tough. I picked up this book thinking it was something different than it really is. I was looking for some talking points, essays, short stories that illustrated some spiritual concepts...similar to books the Dali Lama has written and things by other people who are looked upon as spiritual guides.
While I am a Christian, I am more accepting of other beliefs and philosphies than one would think. This book just didnt meet my expectations. The books is written in beautiful language that flows well and is colorful, peaceful and relaxing. In fact, so much so that I couldnt read this book at bedtime...it literally put me to sleep. For those who are interested in Eastern medicine, healing, and philosophies this book would be a good one to add to the library that you are already keeping. Passages on yin and yang, mantras, healing, with bits of meridians and chakras are all in here. While not being an avid student of those particular paths of thought, I do know enough to not be totally lost with the reading. The concepts are explained plainly and easily enough, its just that for some people the feeling of bewilderment is going to be a major road block. The author talks about the "soul" and its language, communication, needs, wants, desires, appetites and things like that. He speaks of countless lives, countless souls and infinite universes. I get what he is saying even if I myself dont buy into all of it. The information is presented, as mentioned earlier, in a straightforward manner and explained as best it can. The author relies on "Divine downloads" at the end of certain passages to help you "get" the information, receive the gift, or apply the message. I am not sure how that is supposed to work, perhaps I am just not ready (as stated in the book, some are ready and some...aren't). All said and done, the book is interesting and something that takes some thought to read. It is one of those books that, while I dont believe all of what it contains, still has enough information in it to help you ruminate on some of the concepts for a bit. Some of the passages I will think about and read again, but the book just wasnt something that I really liked. I am glad that I read it and have a better understanding of what the author is talking about, but when his envisioned "soul" conference comes to town, being taught only in "soul language" I probably will not be in the audience.
