LOVE IT !! It is just such a good show I had to read the books . They are even better than the show. As always. I can't wait to get on to the next book after I finish one I am so ready for another. I hope Mrs Harris writes more!!

I love watching the HBO True Blood, but the books are so much better! I can't wait to read the next 2 books in the series! This is a much more grown up vampire series and has good twists that keep you reading.

After watching the first season of True Blood, I was hooked! After learning that the series was originally a book series, I was intrigued. I decided to buy the first two books in paperback form in order to get started. Well, after reading the first two installments, I was hooked and could not wait to read them all! These books re quick entertaining reads, and I found myself plowing through the entire books set in a matter of days! This series starts off dealing primarily with vampires, but quickly introduces shape shifters, werewolves, were-animals, witches, and telepaths (yes, plural!). I find the world that Charlaine Harris has created to be truly entertaining and great distraction from everyday work and stress! You will not regret this purchase!

Harris created wonderful characters, but unfortunately did not take them in a wonderful direction. I am a huge fan of the True Blood HBO series, and I was encouraged to buy the Sookie Stackhouse set. It was interesting to see where the show and the book series diverge and what they have in common, however I would not recommend purchasing the entire set. Even if you have read the first book or two, there is a serious decline in quality of writing and plot as you read on. Sookie is an incredibly strong character, but gets weaker through the books, and downright unlikable by the fifth book. I hear the HBO series is going to diverge more and more from the books, and I sincerely hope so. I was sorely let down by Harris and feel she truly "phoned it in" in the later books, relying on the fact that she had a dedicated cult fan-base. I think the fan base deserves better treatment of their beloved characters, and I hope Harris considers this in her future writing.

These books were awesome. They are so fun to read, and once you start reading one you will not put it down, until you move on to the next book. I had never even seen True Blood (the show based on these books)but thought they looked interesting. I also suggested them to a friend and she loved them too!

This was a present for my son. He loves the series and they are exactly what they say. They look exactly like the picture and came in a timely manner. Was very pleased with this purchase.

Sookie Stackhouse Mysteries, Southern Vampire Mysteries go deeper than True Blood the tv series. After watching True Blood on tv, I thought I'd give the books that inspired it a looksie. While the first few books captivate the reader, the longer the series goes it feels like the author has lost her focus for a story line and is just writing to write. Over all though, I enjoyed the books and will continue reading as more come out.

I must admit that I first started to watch the series and then found out about the books. I got really addicted to TRUE BLOOD, so, after I was finished with season 02, I really wanted to see what happens next. So, I ordered the first 7 books and read them all within 2 months - if I had more free time, I would have finished a lot earlier. The books are also very interesting, although many things are different compared to the series. But, you have to love Sookie Stackhouse. She's just amazing and her adventures are so cool. I love the combination of suspense, love-story and humour by Charlaine Harris. I'm definetely getting all the books of this series. In fact, I have also started to read the Harper Conelly's books by Charlaine Harris. They're also really good.

I bought this as a birthday gift for my little sister. She had the 1st book read in under 2 hours. I think that might be a record. Anyway, the books came just as described, securely packaged and in excellent condition! I love Trueblood, I have watched from the Start on HBO. I was concerned that books wouldn't be as good as the show or that characters would be off and I would't enjoy. I was wrong. The books are great, some characters are slightly changed but it doesn't deter from the books. I am counting down the days until book 10 comes out.

Yes, I know totally awesome is two words, but seriously, the Sookie Stackhouse books deserve the hyperbole. I came to the books via the tv show, True Blood so thought I knew what I was expecting. Wow, was I wrong. The show is brilliant, but the series of books following Sookie, Bill and Eric (et al) just left me completely so hungry for me. I devoured them one after the over and still wanted more. If you love your vampires dangerous AND sexy (and not of the sipid emo variety) try these books. But trust me - after the first one you WILL be an addict.

Great reading for anyone who can't get enough vampire stories. Includes lots of other strange paranormal creatures too. Quite a lot of sex and some gore too - so not for younger teens. Can't put the books down so be prepared to miss some sleep.

I'm a vampire fan. This series is a little different but I'm hooked. Can't wait to get to the next book to see what will happen next. Not difficult to read with complicated story. Nice easy read.

I am such a True Blood fan that I had to get these books, I love them and think if you like the show or even just like vampires they are an awesome read!

I actually bought this collection from The Lakeside Collection last year. What an awesome deal! I love that all of them are right there together because, believe me, once you read the first book, you'll want to grab the next one and so on. I like the way they are package and the cover art. The only cover art I didn't like is the one for the first one -- it is done in the series packaging, not the cute little figures. I bought another copy of the first one with the original cover art so that they all match. This is a great collection for a vampire lover!

I loved the HBO series, so wanted to read the books. Personally, I think the books are much better. I like the character development and the storyline that goes along with the books. I read all 7 books in this set within 2 weeks. Couldn't put them down!

I began reading these books when my fiance surprised me with them. I love True Blood on HBO so it was only natural to read the books during the series break. I could not put them down. As I read I felt like I was totally involved in Sookie Stackhouse's life, similar to how I felt reading Twilight. I read right through the 7 book box set and ordered the rest of the books from Amazon. I can not wait until the next book is published in May. I can not say enough about this series.

The books are different from the HBO series, so don't expect to read along and find the same story lines as the show.

I can't put these books down. They are like reading the adult version of the Twilight series. I like them because the author is still adding books to this series. Good price at Amazon and free shipping. Can't beat that!

Definitely well written, the story flows well and can feel that the author is experienced in literature. However after the first book, the interest and intensity that other book offers tends to go down hill. The main character slowly gives out a feeling of less emotionally attached and impersonal about events happening around her. Gradually the thoughts and actions of the main character gets more and more annoying and hard to relate to. Most of the books in the series describe everyday things very well, and those took up most of each book. When it comes to the major events in each book, it was paced hurriedly along without much detail.

I would be interested to read the author's other series because the writing is excellent. Just that Sookie Stackhouse series seems to be stretched longer then it should have.

My husband got these for me because I like the show. I do not have time to read because I am in a very busy Ph.D. program but I read them all our my summer break. They are not all gems but they are really fun and sexy. If you like the show you might LOVE the books. The characters are not all the same but it still works.

Absolutely fell in love with this series! I am so addicted now. I highly recommend this to anyone.

I am now on Book 8. I cannot put this series down. Its an easy read, with lots of supernatural stuff and just the right amount of romance. I do not want the series to come to an end!

A friend of mine loan me "Dead Until Dark" & I was immediately hooked! I bought the box set only to have some regret because there is another box set with books 1-8 & the first book of the set does not have the original artwork for its book cover; it has True Blood art work on it. I have read all 9 books & anxiously await for more!

Of course after being "bit" by True Blood this summer, which happened to be Season 2 on HBO, I purchased Season 1 and became completely caught up with the characters and their assorted background stories in about a week. So where to turn next to quench my "thirst"? Of course, where it all began with the entire Sookie Stackhouse Books set, 1-7. And what a treat it was, I read the entire set in about a week and a half, and yes I did accomplish other tasks besides. Rarely have I become so enamored with a book series and actually felt compelled to go through them so swiftly. I recognized the differences the series decided to take compared to the books however those differences did not take away from my complete enjoyment of the books in the least. I'm not sure how I would have felt the other way around having read the books first and then viewed the series, but from my journey, the book set simply added to the stories and the experience. I then read the next two books in the series and I now wait patiently with the other Sookie Stackhouse book lovers for the newest installment.

My Daughter loved these books for her 16th Birthday. I look forward to purchasing more when she is done with these~! Seller was wonderful with quick shipping.

excellent price for this brand new box set, if you like the show you love this set but be aware it doesn't coincide exactly like the show. there are some character and chronological differences. good buy if you want to see an alternate storyline (not completely different just slightly).

I love the Sookie Stackhouse books. I started watching the series and my best friend suggested the books. Now I'm hooked and recommending them to my sister and my mom to read.
I was shopping for this set for my sister's x-mas gift and found it at Border's for $65. Getting it on Amazon saved me about half the price! The set was delivered to my house within a week in pristine condition. A REALLY good deal!

These are great books, I seem to be just flying through them they are so good. I really recommend purchasing this product. I watched the first 2 season on HBO before I received these and the stories are quite a bit different than the show (More in the love story aspect) but it is still great.

This is one of my favorite series. I am a BDB fan, as well as Lords of the Underworld, Night Huntress, and about 10 other great series, but this is at the top of my list. I love Charlaine Harris' writing style, and am anxiously waiting for her next books.

Series has a good start with Books 1 & 2. By the end of book 3 & 4 the series is dead. Who cares what happens to her. I threw the books away.

I ordered this item (books 1-7) because a friend recommended them to me and Amazon was offering them at a great price. I started reading them while watching episodes of True Blood on DVD. (I like the books and the TV series independently of each other.)

Slight vent: For some reason, this set comes packaged with Definitely Dead before Dead as a Doornail. WRONG. Dead as a Doornail is book 5, NOT Definitely Dead, which is book 6. I didn't catch this until just the other day while I was playing around a bookstore website. The way my books were in order (I've only taken them out as I read them), I originally thought that Definitely Dead was book 5. I can still see the error in the picture as I type this. :/ Not the end of the world, but I would have been kinda bummed if I did read the books out of order (which I almost did). I hope others have caught that...

I did notice that the picture for books 1-8 sold as a set here on Amazon is correct.

This is light, vampire, supernatural reading, with adult themes. If you like TruBlood (which this is based on) you will also like this. The story lines are different, but along the same vein, so you really don't know what's coming.

Buying these in the set is a great deal. I was at the bookstore and was going to purchase the first one and decided to check out your prices. Much better deal and they were here before they were suppose to be.

As a fan of vampire fiction I picked this series up after learning that HBO was basing a show on it. I had no expectations, in fact I knew very little of the books, or the author. Having read my way through them, I am pleased to say that they were a very, very pleasant surprise. Charlaine Harris writes vividly, her characters taking on a life of their own. The stories seem to have written themselves into the books, they are so masterfully penned.

What is that makes these novels so worthwhile? The writing is not particularly eloquent--this is not "high" literature. The story is told from the perspective of Sookie, a barmaid in rural Louisiana. Harris's writing style is thus defined by Sookie's impressions of, and reactions to, the world. In this way Sookie "writes" herself into existence. The language is simple, but in that simplicity lies all the complexity of a woman's life. One might expect that pages describing domestic chores would be tedious. For instance, we often read about Sookie cleaning her house, or preparing a modest meal in her kitchen. Despite the mundane minutia, Harris keeps the reader's attention. This is because we learn a great deal about Sookie through her interactions with the world. Harris has ingeniously (and realistically) defined the character through such interactions. Washing the dishes is not just an activity, it is an extension of Sookie herself, manifested by her compulsive desire to keep a clean home. This, and a million other details, justify Sookie's reactions to more complex external forces.

In this way Sookie becomes endearing to the reader, more so than any other character I can think of. We relate to Sookie so well, and consequently care for her, because we understand her motivations. Harris, through her careful descriptions of Sookie's life, mirrors our own lives, and thus allows us to take a little bit of Sookie into ourselves, which we then project back onto the character by reading the book. Sookie thus becomes an extension of ourselves. Never before have I seen a character so effectively drawn, and drawn so well.

Rambling aside, Harris is an extremely effective author. What I love about her writing is that she has an inherent ability to surprise. She peppers her books with unexpected twists and turns. Action erupts in the middle of the page where you would least expect it. In contrast to some authors who enjoy using an entire chapter to build suspense, only to leave you with a cliff hanger, Harris surprises, entices, and delivers in one fell swoop.

I am envious of the reader who has not yet delved into the magical, macabre world of Sookie Stackhouse. If you are a fan of vampire fiction, fantasy, or mystery, I highly recommend these books. I won't say they're flawless. Perhaps the later books are a bit "out there," and maybe there is a bit too much romance for my taste. Regardless, this is a solid series, separate and distinct from the recent tweeny vamp hysteria that has caught on. These books will be around for a long, long time.

I really enjoyed the Sookie Stackhouse books by Charlaine Harris. These books are all so good. They are very easy reads, and I can't get enough of this series.

I love these books they are like drugs. I got the series b/c I like to read before I watch and I planned on catching up on the HBO series after reading the Twighlight series and feeling dumped.
As a 30 yr old woman these books are far more satisfying then the Twilight series. They are not written as well but that is also a backhanded compliment to them. Stephanie Myer spends a lot of time explaining and not really getting to the knitty gritty. Charlaine Harris knows how to develop a character without the fluff.
I got this set and read them very quickly. As I was reading them, my Kindle was delivered. I was thrilled to find the last few books in Kindle version.

I fell in love with the True Blood series and heard that these books were what the series was based on. As an avid reader, I always know that the books always have more details in them than the movies or shows. I have been a vampire enthusiast for years. I am so glad that the fad has hit so hard, lately because it obviously gives me more reading material.

For a Twilight lover who wasn't sure what to read once the Twilight series was over- the Sookie Stackhouse books filled the ticket. I love the stories Charlaine Harris weaves with all of the supernatural elements involved. I find myself looking forward to reading these books a little TOO much!
