We love to read this book and act it out with all the BIG KISSES AND HUGS AND SNUGGLES in the appropriate spots.

My daughter gets so excited about this book - she pays rapt attention, smiles, and wants us to read it again. This book was given to us as a present when she was born - and we have been reading it, among others, since then. For the past few months, this has been a clear favorite book. She loves that at points in the book we give her a big smooch, she is attracted to the colors and illustrations and big letters that indicate you are supposed to be singing those words loudly. We sing the words to this book to her - we don't straight read them - but we do this with other books, too, and she doesn't get nearly as excited. Simple book...my husband and I have others we like more...but this one wins hands down for the baby, and that's what really matters!

This is easily a favorite in our house. we first started reading this to our daughter when she was 9 months old. Since then, she has grown to love it more everyday. She's now 18 months old, and never tires of it. She generally likes all the Boynton books, but this one, she loves.

Here's the gist of the story: a mommy dog is baking cookies with her puppy, and tells him/her a story about how much she loves him. The illustrations are classic Boynton: cute and fun. The rhymes are great. This one isn't as silly as some of her other books, but the sweetness of it makes up for it.

I highly suggest getting the CD that contains the song of "Snuggle Puppy." (I think it's on Philadelphia Chickens...) Once you've learned how the tune goes, you'll love the book even more. And what's even better, is that once you learn the song, you can sing it anywhere. This does wonders for my daughter when she is being uncooperative or grumpy. Whenever I sing her the song, she always smiles, and usually becomes more agreeable.

This fictional work lacks character development, and just about anything else fine literature is supposed to display. But it has furry animals hugging, kissing, singing, dancing, and doing all other manner of cute things, and my 15 month old loves it. Boynton must me laughing all the way to bank...seriously, she must be worth a mint.

I bought this book as a valentine gift for my nephew. I had heard the song on one of my grandchilren's CDs. The song and the book are so sweet!! It is a true love song. I can't wait for a visit when I can read it to him myself. I know it will become one of his favorites.

I've just begun to understand why everyone seems to like Sandra Boynton so much. Over the last month, my 16 month old daughter has decided that she loves this book! She practically skips to the last page where you whisper some of the words and then say "OOOOO, I love you!" really loud, followed by a kiss. She loves that part and anticipates it. She turns her face toward me for the kiss. It's so sweet!!

AARP alerted me to author Sandra Boynton. From what I've experienced, you can not go wrong with a Boynton book. Collect them all!

This is a song!! When I read this book, I sing! I love it!! My kids love it. The boys could really do without all the kissing though but...it goes with the book. When we pull this book out, be ready for some singing, dancing fun!!

This is our absolute favorite baby book! We used to read (sing!) it to our infant daughter, and she would smile and just light up. Most books are good for different ages, this has been great for a few years, and it's a lot of fun since you 'act' it out with kisses! It is now the gift that I buy anyone I know that has a baby.

I just love this book! It was first introduced to me about 3 years ago, and a Parents as Teachers educator did a story time activity, this was what she chose. The kids adored it, after the activity she left us the book, and a 'snuggle puppy' we sung the song anytime we had a child that was especially feeling blue, or just for a cheerful good time! I ordered it about a week ago, to introduce it to a new class of kids, as now I am the one 'leading the class'. Thanks Sandra for the fun book!

We have almost all of Sandra Boynton's board books, and this one has to be one of the favorites.

I love how excited both my husband and daughter get when it's time for this book. My daughter is 10 months, and we started reading this book to her a month ago. What's neat about the book is that for part of it, it's actually a song where the parent gets to sing and make up the music to the words. Makes bedtime reading more interesting.

We love this book!

I like reading this to my kids (one-on-one with each of them) to remind them about how special they are to me. No matter where they are, or what they do, they will always be my snuggle puppies. The rhyme and rhythm are cheerful and appealing.

This is right up there with the Sandra Boynton quality of books! It is a very cute story/song. We absolutely love it!!!

I bought this book for my son about a year ago. He is 2& 1/2 and he has loved it since the VERY first time he heard it. He will beg for me to read it to him before bed and if he is really tired it is so comforting that he will be asleep before I get to the last page. This is such a sweet little story.

I always enjoy Sandra Boynton's board books, but this one is truly a special favorite. I love to sing the words to my kids even when we aren't reading the book.

In particular, I appreciate the acknowledgement (via the illustrations) that behavior may not always be appropriate, but Snuggle Puppy is ALWAYS loved.

I had this book when my son was a baby and now my daughter and they both loved it. My daughter dances while I sing it to her.

My daughter loves this book and insists upon having it read/sung to her just about every night. Although I do not have the greatest voice this book is a source of enjoyment night after night as part of our bedtime routine.

My baby loves this book! We've read it to her since she was about 2 months old and repeats the Oooooo noise after you. It's so cute to read it with her and we've bought it for multiple gifts.

I love Sandra Boynton but this isn't my favorite. It is a cute story and very sweet, but it is wordy and repetetive and my daughter usually gets bored before we are through. I would recommend getting one of the author's other books.

This little book is wonderful! It's one of the few my baby girl will sit through. One nice touch is that there aren't any gender cues for the parent dog or little puppy. It could be a Mommy and her little boy baking the cookies just as easily as a Daddy and his little girl. Very cute! I haven't been disappointed with a Boynton book yet!

Book is fun for all ages, though ostensibly for tiny ones. Make up your own bouncy rhythm and enjoy! My littlest grandson loves to be danced around while this is being sung or chanted to him.

These are the best books for children. They are board books so they are very sturdy. The illustrations are awesome and I know my grandson just loves to look at these books. I have bought them for gifts also, and they are well appreciated.

My husband and I both get a little teary when we share this wonderful book with our son. Love, love love...

I love Sandra Boynton books and this one is my favorite. It is a wonderful story about a parent telling their child how they love who they are and what they do. I especially love that the parent says they love the child for who they are. There is not enough reinforcement given to children that they are valued just for being themselves, for being alive. I don't want to get on a soap box. I just adore this book!!!

Puppies, snuggles, hearts, love songs...all the ingredients for a book full of affection and love. Unfortunately this book doesn't leave us with warm fuzzies. Repetitive, boring and overly simplistic, this one is not one of Boynton's best.

We love all our Boynton books, and this one is no exception. It's a fun book to read/sing and my daughter loves it!

We have over half of the Boynton board book collection, but this is our favorite. We actually favored Moo, Baa, La La La until we bought this one, but it is so wonderful to read, we can't say enough good things about it. This book gives you the warm and fuzzies and we'll be reading it to our 10 month old daughter for years to come!

This was given to us as a gift & we are so thankful for being introduced to Sandra Boynton's books. What's really great about this particular book is that you can sing it! At first I made up a tune, but then I discovered on Sandra Boynton's website that she has several CD's with musical recordings of some of her books and more. Many of the recordings are done by celebrities. Snuggle Puppy is sung by Eric Stolz. My husband figured out the guitar chords, and now we sing it to my 4 month old. She loves it!!!!

This is a cute book, but a cute song as well. It might be hard to sing it if you haven't heard the melody, but you can look at the Philadelphia Chickens CD online and hear enough to get the idea. It might be more fun.

Sandra Boynton has always understood the human-animal bond and this book celebrates how essential dogs are to our lives.

What a great book to read out loud, perfect to read to a young ones anytime to let them know whatever they do whatever they are you love them. If there is one Sandra Boynton's book you want to buy this would be it!

When I ordered the book I wasn't sure what to expect. My 2.5 year old son got caught up into the book immediately when we hit "OOOooooh, snuggle puppy of mine...."

The pictures that showed the silly things a "snuggle puppy" (our little toddlers) get into, along with the reminders that we love what they are, we love what they do, hit home the message that we love our children for simply being themselves.

A touching story written with silliness and a rhyme - perfect for a hyper toddler in the middle of the day.

Sandra Boynton writes songs like someone who has never heard a song before. The pictures are adorable, sure. But here's the thing--I don't just want adorable pictures. Are there a lot of toddler books that *aren't* cute? If you're going to write a book about the way you feel about your kid and put it in the form of a song, by God that song had better be cute as well. I challenge anyone to sing the song in this book *AS WRITTEN, without changing the words. It can't be done unless you're some kind of beat poet or Yoko Ono or something.

I like this author, so I just put this book on my son's wish list for the heck of it. His aunt got it for him for Christmas and we love it. I just made up my own tune to the song and my son just giggles when I sing it. It has silly words, but a good message. I love singing it to my son and he laughs at me as I whisper the beginning and progressively get louder. Great book!

Ms. Boynton's books are a huge hit in our home. Snuggle Puppy was given as a gift to my now almost three year old for Valentine's day and it quickly became her favorite...we read it each night and she gets so excited to hear the cadence in the book, she moves in rhythm to the words as I sing song the story. I even found her asleep snuggling the book under her arm one night. I will be sad when this is no longer part of our bed time story time.

My husband picked this book out for our little one when she was 10 months old. She wasn't too interested so on the shelf it sat until she turned 12 months. It is now a fundamental part of our bedtime ritual. She even gears herself up for the end of the song by puckering up! I look forward to reading more of Boynton's books!

My son's favorite part of this book is the whispered section that abruptly transitions into a loud "OOOOO--I love you!" If there is an established tune, I don't know it, but we have our own version and sometimes change the song to shake things up. You could easily chant along, and the book would be just as adorable. The message in the text is so great--it communicates an appreciation for your child in a sweet, direct manner. The illustrations are also cute--there's a ball under the table in the kitchen where they're making cookies (with batter all over the puppy's face), a page where the snuggle puppy is enjoying all four seasons with an umbrella, a heavy coat, etc.--so there are lots of familiar objects to identify and talk about together. We both look forward to reading this together and "snuggling" at home, and sometimes we sing it in the car. This would be such a great gift for expecting parents, part of a Valentine's Day package, or a "just because" book to share with your child.
