| Selling 101 : What Every Successful Sales Professional Needs to Know | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
Here in a short, compact and concise format is the basics of how to persuade more people more effectively, more ethically, and more often. Ziglar draws from his fundamental selling experiences and shows that while the fundamentals of selling may remain constant, sales people must continue learning, living, and looking: learning from the past without living there; living in the present by seizing each vital moment of every single day; and looking to the future with hope, optimism, and education. His tips will not only keep your clients happy and add to your income, but will also teach you ideas and principles that will, most importantly, add to the quality of your life. Content drawn from Ziglar on Selling. |

I think this product is outdated for selling in the 21st century. It might have been good back in the 1970's, but the time for these strategies is over.

This book taught me why people dislike sales people so much. He keeps talking about how sales people offer great solutions, but in reality, he is implicitly condoning unethical sales practices and reinforcing the message to sales people that its ok. I felt dirty after reading this book and was rather turned off.
there were a couple of good educational points in there, so I rated it 2 stars, but mostly it was junk. Another poster described it as "daily affirmations" and I couldn't agree more with that description. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-08-06 04:03:13 EST)

For a person that's just getting started in Sales this is a great book. It's not very long, it gets to the point and makes you use it in your daily life. I recommend it to all and advise to get what you can out of it and use it in your practical life.

Seldom is a book as aptly named as Selling 101. This is a true primer on the ABC's of selling. Author and sales expert Zig Ziglar walks you through the sales process, teaching you how to find prospects, overcome "call reluctance," pose the right questions and ask for the order. He touches on all of the fundamentals, using examples from his experiences to illustrate his main points. His brief, concise prose is easy to understand and even easier to incorporate into your sales practices. The seasoned sales professional will not find anything new in this basic textbook, but we recommend it to anyone who is new to selling, particularly if you lack a mentor to give you this kind of guidance. This handy manual will provide know-how that is usually gained only by experience in the field.

Good short book if you are looking for something basic. There is certainly nothing dynamic, but Ziglar hits several points right on and gives a nice overview.

This book is good. Will definately not give you an excuse not to read through every page since it is not a big book. Yet it is so informative.

I found this book to be a great asset to me as a professional salesperson. In an era when selling at any cost is popular, it's wonderful to read a book that stresses the need to be ethical, and above board in the field of selling. I also work for a company that requires the salespeople to show integrity in all that they do to help people. This book was just what I needed.

This book is not to be confused with Zig's Secrets of Closing Sales or Zig Ziglar on Selling. Those two book are complete texts and over 400 pages each.
This little book is truly selling 101. It covers the basics and makes for better reading than say the NY Times during those slack times. Good book to be read along with Zig's other books. Also recommend How To Master The Art of Selling by Tom Hopkins. (Review Data Last Updated: 2006-06-24 11:12:55 EST)

Zig Ziglar has done it again. As an author myself of sales books, I realize sales is about so much more than just having the 'gift of gab,' and fast talking. It's about asking the right questions and listening to the right answers. It's about not just being a consultant to others, but being a consultant to yourself. It's recognizing you are in the most honorable profession there is. Zig's theories exemplify this.

. . in high school. Filled with basics. I was looking for something new. Something that had an adge. Something that cold offer more than the day to day, sales meeting and coffee corner back and forth. This book did not deliver. Normally, I'm a big Zig Ziglar kind of guy. This isn't the book. I did like "Cars and People; How to Put the Two Together" and "Ziglar on Selling."

'Selling 101' is an easy to read and understand introduction to sales technique for those new to selling, or a quick review for experienced sales people who need a refresher. The book can be read quickly, but to get the most out of it return to each section and determine how you can apply the principles there to improve your skills.
There are chapters on overcoming call reluctance, need analysis, closing, dealing with angry clients, making the most of your time and more. You are sure to pick up at least a few good ideas. Part motivation, part how-to, 'Selling 101' may be just what you need to improve your sales results a little or a lot. (Review Data Last Updated: 2006-07-07 07:28:40 EST)

This is a great little book to use as a handy check up book from Mr.Ziglar. I am not a sales person, but am in the service business and this book was just perfect for me. For $10.00 anyone can get this book and learn a few things, even if just for fun.

This book is basically a collection of "daily affirmations." Its a feel-good book. It has very little in the way of "actionable" advice. At only 100-pages, I expected a collection of greatest hits. This is the first, only, and last Zig Zigler book I will ever buy. For people with a serious interest in tangible advice on how to increase sales effectiveness, I would recommend Michael Bosworth's "Solution Selling," or Stephen Heiman and Diane Sanchez's "The New Strategic Selling" or "New Conceptual Selling." If you need to feel good about yourself, I'd suggest a psychologist instead (or simply buy a dog). Overall grade: D-/F.
