Secrets of the Millionaire Mind: Mastering the Inner Game of Wealth

Secrets of the Millionaire Mind reveals the missing link between wanting success and achieving it!

Have you ever wondered why some people seem to get rich easily, while others are destined for a life of financial struggle? Is the difference found in their education, intelligence, skills, timing, work habits, contacts, luck, or their choice of jobs, businesses, or investments?

The shocking answer is: None of the above!

In his groundbreaking Secrets of the Millionaire Mind, T. Harv Eker states: "Give me five minutes, and I can predict your financial future for the rest of your life!" Eker does this by identifying your "money and success blueprint." We all have a personal money blueprint ingrained in our subconscious minds, and it is this blueprint, more than anything, that will determine our financial lives. You can know everything about marketing, sales, negotiations, stocks, real estate, and the world of finance, but if your money blueprint is not set for a high level of success, you will never have a lot of money—and if somehow you do, you will most likely lose it! The good news is that now you can actually reset your money blueprint to create natural and automatic success.

Secrets of the Millionaire Mind is two books in one. Part I explains how your money blueprint works. Through Eker's rare combination of street smarts, humor, and heart, you will learn how your childhood influences have shaped your financial destiny. You will also learn how to identify your own money blueprint and "revise" it to not only create success but, more important, to keep and continually grow it.

In Part II you will be introduced to seventeen "Wealth Files," which describe exactly how rich people think and act differently than most poor and middle-class people. Each Wealth File includes action steps for you to practice in the real world in order to dramatically increase your income and accumulate wealth.

If you are not doing as well financially as you would like, you will have to change your money blueprint. Unfortunately your current money blueprint will tend to stay with you for the rest of your life, unless you identify and revise it, and that's exactly what you will do with the help of this extraordinary book. According to T. Harv Eker, it's simple. If you think like rich people think and do what rich people do, chances are you'll get rich too!

What makes it meaningful to me is that the author is speaking from experience and not just doing interviews, or gathering anecdotes.

Are you friends with your money? Do you love managing money as well as making? If not, and you would like to change that, this book is for you! T. Harv Eker takes a no-nonsense, no-holds-barred approach to exposing the limiting beliefs people hold around wealth and money. He guides you to challenge old family patterns and outmoded thinking so that you can start creating financial wealth and prosperity. While he does offer some tips and simple structures for basic budgeting, this is not a book about serious financial planning. It's really about coming to terms with your limiting, self-defeating beliefs around cold hard cash. If you're feeling stuck with money, or experiencing fear around your finances, this is a great book to get you started and on the right track.

Great book!
This book really brings to light some of the constant truths behind wealth building - why some can and why others can't. I consider it to be a "MUST READ" if you want to achieve financial freedom or build wealth.
I gave it 4 stars rather than 5 only because it frequently refers to a seminar that would be of great value - sadly I recently moved to Asia and the seminar is nowhere near here. I realize that a seminar is of great value, but... I bought the book. JUST GET IT. It's outstanding.

Got this book as a gift from a friend, who knew I was in the process of building a new business and was looking for motivational sources to keep me - well, motivated. I found a lot of great ideas in the book, but as the saying goes, "Take what you like and leave the rest." There are several rather chauvinistic references to the author's unfortunate, "spendaholic" wife (as if men don't buy expensive toys like souped up sports cars, video games, golf clubs, Laker's tickets and the latest electronic technology "must-have's", thus spending far more on ridiculous purchases than we do). OK, OK, getting to my point: "Millionaire Mind" is a limited phrase these days. A millionaire isn't such a big deal any more. Every time I was prompted to touch my forehead and say that I have a Millionaire Mind I had to edit and say "Ten Million Dollar Mind" instead, because I don't want to get stuck expecting a piddling million bucks. You laugh - but after taxes, a millionaire is often just another middle to lower middle class person. Hey, nothing wrong with that, but I don't think it's what the author wanted us to believe about ourselves originally. Also: he exhorts us to buy, buy, buy real estate, which, "even in a down market" as he claims, "if you wait long enough, it will pay off." Really? Nobody expected what has happened to the real estate market recently, in which banks began to charge exorbitant interest fees and thousands of real estate "moguls" went under, went bankrupt, are now having to try to get rid of what is basically worthless property at this point. Is there such thing as "worthless property"? Well, yes, for a long time to come, sorry to say. Unless you are a twenty-something and can wait ten, fifteen, twenty years or more, without having to blink an eye about your losses, you are up the proverbial creek. Otherwise, why are some of us so happy we didn't invest in real estate? Why do we feel so relieved? Everyone (formerly) rich I know (and I know a lot, being a counselor to many of them) has new creases in their foreheads and perplexed, shifting eyes, as if they've just awakened from a nightmare, which they have. So: now is the time to get going and do it YOUR WAY. Take the author's basic ideas about working for yourself, good money managment and a new or continued savings discipline and go forward knowing that you were smart to give it a moment. The stock market; real estate - don't completely rule them out - but they no longer hold the promise of instantaneous - or even future - wealth they once did. Your creative mind is the only place from which that wealth is going to spring. Bon appetit!

Secrets of the Millionaire Mind: Mastering the Inner Game of Wealth

This book has become a classic because the "secrets" really do work. T. Harv Eker in his seminars will tell you that he has drawn from the great teachers that came before him from Napolean Hill to Robert Kyosaki,to Steven Covey and Wallace Wattles, Werner Erhard and Stuart Wilde to name a few. What this book does it puts all of those teachings together along with Harv's own perspectives and real life experience of having gone from a failed entrepreneur to a very successful and financially free entrepreneur and what it takes to make that happen. The book is a tool to get you the life you really want but you must put it into action.

In The Secrets of a Millionaire Mind, T.Harv Eker talks about our money blueprint set up for us from our histories, from the messages we were given about money as children. AS Harv say, "Your roots create your fruits, so if you want a peach tree you cannot begin with an onion."

And so it is. You can be rich or you can be right. Knock this book or buy it and see for yourself. You won't be sorry if you want a richer life. (One of the secrets is that this book is about having a richer life.)

At the Millionaire Mind Intensive Seminars, which you can attend with the certificate in the book, you are given the opportunity to learn the importance of giving a lot of value, going for what you want and being proud of sharing what you have and getting paid for it so that you can get rich and give back in a world that needs for you to be rich rather than being right.

Like many of the other reviews state, this book is mostly pep talk and promotion for his Millionaire Mind Intensive Seminar. Having never attended the seminar, I can only rate the book, which is just decent. There are certainly some useful ideas and some positive mind-sets if you want to become wealthy, but there is nothing in the way of practical advice for how to take action other than attending his seminar.

I've read very few books about rich people's views of wealth that explain it in layman's terms and offers you the tools to acquire the thoughts and actions as this one does. It works well as a self-help workbook and as a future reference manual.
I have also attended the Millionaire Mind Intensive seminar. For being infomercial in nature it still held up to it's promise to deliver the goods. Both book and seminar are well worth it.
Though I've purchased several copies for friends and acquaintences previously, I purchased this one through Amazon.

This is a "must-read" for anyone who is serious about becoming or remaining successful - in any type of business, but also in life! If you want to increase your wealth - financially especially - but also emotionally, mentally - and in your value to others, you must read this book! It is NOT a get-rich-quick plan. Nor is it strictly a list of "how-to" plans of investment ideas. This book is about "Programming". You have to re-program your mind and re-set, or revise, your "Mental Blueprint". You can't become wealthy if you think and act like a poor person. If this is for you, you'll also enjoy these: How Successful People Think: Change Your Thinking, Change Your Life; Rich Dad Poor Dad: What the Rich Teach Their Kids About Money-That the Poor and the Middle Class Do Not!; Think and Grow Rich: The Landmark Bestseller--Now Revised and Updated for the 21st Century;Put Your Dream to the Test: 10 Questions that Will Help You See It and Seize It.

This is a good book. I got a lot of "big ideas" from it, three of which I'll share later in this interview. However, I also feel that it has more an its fair share of "pitch" in it. The guy has to make a living, which I appreciate, but he's really pressing hard at getting you into his seminars and other Millionaire Mind stuff rather than letting the good ideas sell themselves. If you can get past that, there is a lot in this book that is very valuable.

The big ideas I got:

1. Play to Win - Obvious, right? A lot of people play "not to lose" though and there is a big difference.

2. "Tap Roots for Better Fruits" - Work on the foundation of your issue and you'll get much better results.

3. Work on yourself and your income will grow with you.

If you are into things like, this you'll love this book. It is not a "make money system" but a way of life. It will require some changes on your part. I have found the changes worthwhile and very helpful.

Next to 'Think And Grow Rich' (by Napoleon Hill), this is perhaps the best book I have read (studied) about the power and importance of - MINDSET.

As I've stated in other Reviews, in my profession, as a Financial Advisor, Business Consultant and Coach - I see people "hungry" for advice and good information on how to achieve more Financial Success - how to 'get control' of their finances - their businesses - their lives. They go to seminars - they hire financial / business counselors like me - they buy books / courses / 'how to' programs.

They can't seem to find the right 'prescription' for financial wellness. And not much wonder, because I can say this categorically - our public education systems are "bankrupt" as far as teaching any REAL practical skills in personal finance and business management. Even MBA programs fall short. Most people today are 'searching' for more success, financial security and happiness in their lives. But many struggle with major challenges, roadblocks and setbacks. When this occurs, it 'impacts' their (our) daily THINKING - no question.

GRIM ECONOMY - Given the current (global) economic mess, the importance of this book cannot be overstated in my opinion.

The BOOK - What I like about Eker's blockbuster book is first, it's a "fun" book to read, and it's practical. The principles in this book show the poor, middle class and rich 'mindsets'. Importantly, he gets us discovering what our 'money blueprint' is

If the principles outlined were truly studied - and applied - they could very dramatically influence our lives for the better. Eker gets us thinking about our actions and our thoughts towards WEALTH (as measured by our Net Worth, not our Income).

T. Harv Eker provides us with proven formulas that work. For example, thoughts, feeling, actions equal results. Rich people focus on opportunities - poor people focus on obstacles. He shows us 17 ways that rich people think and act differently from poor and middle class people - similar to what Robert Kiyosaki teaches us in his best-seller, 'Rich Dad, Poor Dad'. Eker inspires us with true stories. He teaches that we must believe we are 'worthy' of abundance and prosperity - that we must 'take action' to achieve wealth - that WE must take responsibility for our OWN financial futures.

BOTTOM LINE - Our MIND is a powerful tool - it will lead us to success or failure. Our ultimate success - in our careers - in our businesses - in our professions - in our lives - will be governed by how we THINK.

Our THOUGHTS are the "one" thing that WE have absolute control over - that beautiful, fertile, powerful, 6-inch space between our ears.

To be WEALTHY is to first ========> be Wealthy of MIND

Change our MIND => Change our WEALTH => Change our LIFE

In my view, 'Secrets Of The Millionaire Mind' gets a FULL 5-Star rating!

Sincerely,

Peter Arnold, CLU, CFC / Founder

This is a great book for learning the mindset of millionaires. I know this as I work with hundreds of multi-millionaires and see the belief systems taught in this book in the behaviors and attitudes of my millionaire clients.

Enough said about the book... Let me tell you about the Live Seminar which is promoted in the book and which you are invited to go to for free with the coupon in the book. This T.Harv Eker MIllionaire Mind seminar is a HUGE Waste of Time!!!! I went to check it out as I have done seminars my whole life including many with the great Anthony Robbins, one of the greatest speakers of our time, Tony Robbins is a master of communication and teaching incredible skills and strategies for anything you want to achieve in life including financial wealth but this T. Harve Eker guy is not!!!....

T Harv Eker was only at his seminar for 1/2 a day of the 3 day seminar. When T. Harv did arrive he arrogantly came out on stage as if he was "The Man" and began to speak. I found he lacked creating any sort of rapport with the audience and never really connected with us. He would yell at people in the audience for leaving to go to the bathroom saying they were copping out by not staying in the room. And he would humiliate people with his comments. Its one thing to movitate someone with pain but what he did was not that at all. I noticed the audience reaction of getting a little ticked off at the guy's comments as well as people just falling asleep during their hour long sales pitches. Many participants in the audience had a problem with the guy as they told me so themselves and resented being sold @ 10 times a day during the weekend. I had never been to a seminar where I heard so many bad comments about the speaker before.

Now myself I know every phychological sales technique there is and this guy and his staff used them to manipulate and intimidate people to buy more of his books, tapes and seminars yet most of his staff were not millionaires... The 3 day weekend seminar was a huge sales pitch! They would reveiw a few things from the book which we already knew then tell you for the next hour to hour and half about some sort of seminar they have. From there they would create a sense of scarcity and fear to manipulate people to run to the back of the room and buy their seminar for a $1,000 - $4,000 or more. In their sales pitch they would say... we have the most famous or the most well know in the financial area at this seminar to teach you yet they would never tell you the guest speakers names...very secretive. Why? If I was going to spend $4,000 for a seminar I want to know who is teaching me and if they are so famous and great then telling us who they are will inspire more people to sign up. I found out from someone who went to one of his other seminars that in order to make the money they teach you to make in these other seminars you need to invest money in T.Harv's business recommendations of which I think he most likely makes money from as well. Not sure but it would make sense.

I must have been pitched 20 or more different things at this seminar in 3 days. I felt like the whole weekend was a huge waste of my time and I was watching infomercials all weekend.

I got very little out of this weekend seminar for the Millionaire Mind that wasn't in the book. Now, knowing Anthony Robbins material inside out, I noticed much of what was taught at T. Harv's seminar was stolen from Anthony Robbins seminars yet Harv Eker acted as if it as his own. Even some personal stories seemed to be very similar to Tony Robbins personal stories. Hmmmmm.... Only one thing he taught he gave Anthony Robbins credit for and it was a very elementary thing ( the legs of belief). Everything else was pretty much Robbins work yet done ineffectively by T. Harv from my expert opinion. Even the way the audience was warmed up to the exact stretching sequence routine was Tony Robbins stuff at T. Harv's seminar. Much of the same music was played also. I mean come on that kind of stuff you can switch up.

When it was time to do mental imagery, Eker read it from a piece of paper with much of the techniques again were from Anthony Robbins, but Harv and his staff couldn't quite pull them off like Tony. I have done mental imagery with large groups of people and when you know your stuff you don't need a piece of paper to read from. If you have done it so much you have it memorized in your head and you taylor it to your audience. When reading the imagery exercises of his paper, T. Harv had no emotion in his vocal tone to inspire people into emotion for making the mental changes he wanted from them. It was unimpressive to say the least.

I was completely unimpressed with T.Harv Eker as a speaker. Lots of EGO with this guy which was a turn off to me and believe me I have sat through some poor seminars in the last 30 years so I speak from broad experience. I was completely disappointed from the man I thought I knew and liked from this good Millionaire Mind book with the real man himself.

As a writer, T. Harve Eker is good and he should just stick to that in my opinion and stop ripping off other speakers material and ineffectively appling it in seminar.

Don't waste your time or money on his Millionare Mind seminar. Although I didn't time. I felt like I should have been compensated for my wasted time. As a person who has attended allot of seminars in my life I can say from comparison "Skip the Millionaire Mind Seminar." Instead stay home and read the book again!

When I picked up this book, I thought to myself, "Not again, another book on how to get rich." While other books simply say, "Think big, start a business, use other people's money, get rich, and retire," this book made me think a bit harder about myself and other people who are in my life. The author introduces people to a very important formula that determines our reality and wealth. It is T-F-A = R. It means that Thoughts lead to Feelings, Feelings lead to Actions, and Actions lead to Results.

I can totally think of how this formula explains why some people are where they are with money. They mainly stumble on the first variable of the formula "T - Thoughts." This book made me realize that managing one's thoughts is the first step to success. Our thoughts determine our results since they are all connected.

This book is a do-it-yourself, coach like, book. It is full of exercises for you to do on your own or with a group. It's all about the action and attitude that's necessary to build wealth. People can be brilliant, but they won't become wealthy unless they know what actions and attitudes to apply. Mr. Eker says that people are ingrained with money blueprints, such as, "save it for a rainy day", that get in the way of achieving monetary success. It is a fun book to read with lots of personal stories about Mr. Eker and his clients.

The first part focuses on discovering what your money blueprint is. The second part of the book is Mr. Erer's principles of wealth and how to use them to your advantage. An example of one of the wealth principles is, "The true measure of wealth is net worth, not working income". This principal is followed by a lesson on increasing net worth and associated actions, such as creating a net worth statement sheet. Hence some of these may seem obvious but the difference is applying the correct action that would be needed to make a difference. The storytelling really highlights the impacts of taking or not taking actions. I love this book and keep going back to it. Has it helped me? While I have not made millions yet...I have a much better awareness of where I stand and I am in the process of consolidating and growing my financial portfolio. Mr. Eker is a variation of the Susie Orman type - a personality, with opinions, principles and practical advice.

The basic proposition of this book is that to obtain your desired outer results, you must first master the inner game of wealth. "Secrets of the Millionaire Mind" is T Harv Eker's first book and it reached number 1 on the New York Times best-seller list. The first part of the book relates to Eker's own rise, but it is Part Two, "17 ways rich people think and act differently from poor and middle class people" that readers may find most compelling. As Eker put it bluntly, "Anyone who says money isn't important doesn't have any". Many people subsconsciously believe that they are not worthy to receive abundance. These people's money blueprint set them up to earn only a certain amount. They will rise to this amount and go no further, since this is the figure they believe they are worth. The trick is to celebrate any money that comes to you and the universe will give you even more. Poor people are focused on spending their money. Rich people are focused on making it.

Cynic's don't apply!

Those who don't like these types of books - well, they have major challenges to overcome. Cynics etc, don't even bother to read further! However, if you want to get ideas to better your bank account, see what millionaires have done and how they 'think', and at the same time learn to think the same way and keep on the path toward a positive life, this is one of the best books you could read- still by far! I've seen, listen, and laughed with Harv, and it was because of his powerful story that I first noticed him. He is a master communicator of HOW to become a millionaire - but more than that he inspires you with actual true stories, (not just 'feel good' emotions). That is why reading his books, or listening to him has such a great result in our lives.

What is interesting to me is what T. Harv has in common with Horatio Alger, as his books - the novels of rags to riches through a millionaire mindset- the Alger books were very much like the effect one has listening to Harv, or reading his book. Not only uplifting, (all Alger's books are uplifting and very powerful in that way), but Alger always explained in his novels HOW a person was successful - right down to the math, and these were more than principles they were great mindset techniques, as well as examples that someone could duplicate in a different business and move forward, succeed and prosper by following the example of a millionaire character as promoted by Harv and Alger. Harv does the same in all his books, and I would recommend you read all the books by any of these authors.

I just found a very nice set of great reprinted Alger books, (I'll leave you with a few but there are many). All in all, Eker, Robbins, Hansen, Canfield, Alger, etc, they are all great, inspiring, and what we need to read in this negative, cynical world.

Young Captain Jack: The Son of a Soldier
The Young Bank Messenger: A Classic Rags to Riches Story!
Slow and Sure: The Story of Paul Hoffman the Young Street-Merchant
Randy of the River: The Adventures of a Young Deckhand
Phil the Fiddler: A Classic Rags to Riches Story!
Paul the Peddler: The Fortunes of a Young Street Merchant
Paul Prescott's Charge: A Classic Rags to Riches Story!

I came across a mention of this book by accident, and got it at my local library to decide if it had reference value (e.g. buy a copy.) This book can go back to the library.

It starts with an interesting premise, which is not that much different from other motivational books. It (and his YouTube videos) also use the con man's hook - they key into your dreams and desires, then peddle you whatever they want - disguised as helping you attain your dreams (in this case wealth). Also rather annoyingly, Eker engages in far too much arm-waving during his videos and presentations. I guess someone "blueprinted" that into Eker - and he carries it with him. Give me five minutes with a motivational speaker and I can predict that he'll be an annoying speaker the rest of his life.

His book was written in 2005 - far before the recent turmoil of the financial markets - during which more than a few "millionaire minds" were sent to prison - some to die there. He also likes to cite Donald Trump - who has screwed far more of his investors than you can count - and, by the way, started out with a family fortune to begin with.

I've met some millionaires over the years (personally and through reputation known to people I know) and they run the range of personalities. Some are real idiots, some are cheap (meaning they can afford stuff but will stiff you on the dinner bill) some are liars and some can't be trusted at all. Interestingly, the ones who didn't let on or flaunt their wealth (no Jaguars or Rolls) usually weren't like that. My favorite example was told to me by some people at my broker's office - some old guy dressed in work clothes and driving a beat-up pickup truck came in late one night just before closing to deposit some securities. The staff was curious so after he left they looked up his holdings - he was worth more than $6 million (and that was just what he had on deposit with them.) Another was my former landlord - an immigrant who had numerous real estate holdings in an upscale East coast town. I checked his holdings at the assessor's office - $3.5 million (years ago.)

None of these people, I'm sure - would meet Eker's profile of a "millionaire's mind". But they have millions and know how to hold on to it.

There's no formula, guaranteed path or state of mind to making a large amount of money. Some of Eker's points are part of it - but by no means the whole. For a number of people that I know who did create substantial net worth - it was something of a byproduct of what they were doing - and more than a few admitted to me they could not have predicted it. In many cases, they were the right person, at the right place, at the right time (preparation meets opportunity?) So much for the blueprint.

So read Eker's book with the intent of perhaps not falling into some of the mental traps he points out - but don't get the idea you can stop there. There's a lot more to wealth creation than he lets on. The right frame of mind is only part of it.

I have been in business for many years, I have read MANY books over the years, Now unless I have missed something in them T.Harv Eker's book is the 1st one I read to talk about your financial blue print. (This is only out of the books I have read) Since reading this book I have changed the way I run my personal finances and business finances. This is the only book I would recomend to anyone else. I have even told people if they read it and do not like it I will BUY the book back from them. Out of all the people I have told that to who actually went out AND took action and bought it NOT 1 has asked me to buy it back. Crazy what happens when WE take responsibility for where we are in our life what can happen. I have bought numerous copies of this book and given them as gifts. THIS is the only book in 10 years I have done that with. This book will not make you rich but if you do what the book says YOU will see a change in your life and yourt finances. Please excuse my spelling and have a great life. I believe all is possible when we TAKE action.

I thought this was a very revealing book regarding the attitudes that we carry, and how they can be detrimental to our ability to create wealth. It makes you stop and think how you think about wealth, and people that are wealthy. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to improve their attitudes about their aspirations of what they can attain, and just see how each of us could possibily be holding ourself back, just with our attitude. Very inspiritional!

One of the most powerful books I have ever read, without going into details, this book helped me realign myself to becoming wealthy and the steps are so easy it's a shame that it's not being taught in schools. The step that Mr Eker shows that it's an inner game of wealth than an outer game and the steps are so easy that anyone can be wealthy, but I will point out wealth also deals with other parts of your life aside from the money/financial aspects. This book changed my life and to Harv, I say,Thank You

I bought this book because it was on a reading list from a yoga studio. The fact that a book about money was on a yoga reading list immediately intrigued me. Let me just say that this book totally changed my thoughts about money. It forced me to expose (to myself) the deeply ingrained ideas I had about money that I acquired from my family. For the first time in my life, I realized that what I thought about money just wasn't true. I learned that I could change my perception of money. This shift in my thinking was a pivotal event for me that led from my being a school teaching to owning my own business. I am so grateful for this book. Eker's seminars are outstanding as well. Just like his book, he forces you to look at your habits and thoughts. No hiding out in your comfort zone (so that's the link with yoga!)
