Secrets of the Millionaire Mind: Mastering the Inner Game of Wealth

Secrets of the Millionaire Mind reveals the missing link between wanting success and achieving it!

Have you ever wondered why some people seem to get rich easily, while others are destined for a life of financial struggle? Is the difference found in their education, intelligence, skills, timing, work habits, contacts, luck, or their choice of jobs, businesses, or investments?

The shocking answer is: None of the above!

In his groundbreaking Secrets of the Millionaire Mind, T. Harv Eker states: "Give me five minutes, and I can predict your financial future for the rest of your life!" Eker does this by identifying your "money and success blueprint." We all have a personal money blueprint ingrained in our subconscious minds, and it is this blueprint, more than anything, that will determine our financial lives. You can know everything about marketing, sales, negotiations, stocks, real estate, and the world of finance, but if your money blueprint is not set for a high level of success, you will never have a lot of money—and if somehow you do, you will most likely lose it! The good news is that now you can actually reset your money blueprint to create natural and automatic success.

Secrets of the Millionaire Mind is two books in one. Part I explains how your money blueprint works. Through Eker's rare combination of street smarts, humor, and heart, you will learn how your childhood influences have shaped your financial destiny. You will also learn how to identify your own money blueprint and "revise" it to not only create success but, more important, to keep and continually grow it.

In Part II you will be introduced to seventeen "Wealth Files," which describe exactly how rich people think and act differently than most poor and middle-class people. Each Wealth File includes action steps for you to practice in the real world in order to dramatically increase your income and accumulate wealth.

If you are not doing as well financially as you would like, you will have to change your money blueprint. Unfortunately your current money blueprint will tend to stay with you for the rest of your life, unless you identify and revise it, and that's exactly what you will do with the help of this extraordinary book. According to T. Harv Eker, it's simple. If you think like rich people think and do what rich people do, chances are you'll get rich too!

I came across a mention of this book by accident, and got it at my local library to decide if it had reference value (e.g. buy a copy.) This book can go back to the library.

It starts with an interesting premise, which is not that much different from other motivational books. It (and his YouTube videos) also use the con man's hook - they key into your dreams and desires, then peddle you whatever they want - disguised as helping you attain your dreams (in this case wealth). Also rather annoyingly, Eker engages in far too much arm-waving during his videos and presentations. I guess someone "blueprinted" that into Eker - and he carries it with him. Give me five minutes with a motivational speaker and I can predict that he'll be an annoying speaker the rest of his life.

His book was written in 2005 - far before the recent turmoil of the financial markets - during which more than a few "millionaire minds" were sent to prison - some to die there. He also likes to cite Donald Trump - who has screwed far more of his investors than you can count - and, by the way, started out with a family fortune to begin with.

I've met some millionaires over the years (personally and through reputation known to people I know) and they run the range of personalities. Some are real idiots, some are cheap (meaning they can afford stuff but will stiff you on the dinner bill) some are liars and some can't be trusted at all. Interestingly, the ones who didn't let on or flaunt their wealth (no Jaguars or Rolls) usually weren't like that. My favorite example was told to me by some people at my broker's office - some old guy dressed in work clothes and driving a beat-up pickup truck came in late one night just before closing to deposit some securities. The staff was curious so after he left they looked up his holdings - he was worth more than $6 million (and that was just what he had on deposit with them.) Another was my former landlord - an immigrant who had numerous real estate holdings in an upscale East coast town. I checked his holdings at the assessor's office - $3.5 million (years ago.)

None of these people, I'm sure - would meet Eker's profile of a "millionaire's mind". But they have millions and know how to hold on to it.

There's no formula, guaranteed path or state of mind to making a large amount of money. Some of Eker's points are part of it - but by no means the whole. For a number of people that I know who did create substantial net worth - it was something of a byproduct of what they were doing - and more than a few admitted to me they could not have predicted it. In many cases, they were the right person, at the right place, at the right time (preparation meets opportunity?) So much for the blueprint.

So read Eker's book with the intent of perhaps not falling into some of the mental traps he points out - but don't get the idea you can stop there. There's a lot more to wealth creation than he lets on. The right frame of mind is only part of it.

I have been in business for many years, I have read MANY books over the years, Now unless I have missed something in them T.Harv Eker's book is the 1st one I read to talk about your financial blue print. (This is only out of the books I have read) Since reading this book I have changed the way I run my personal finances and business finances. This is the only book I would recomend to anyone else. I have even told people if they read it and do not like it I will BUY the book back from them. Out of all the people I have told that to who actually went out AND took action and bought it NOT 1 has asked me to buy it back. Crazy what happens when WE take responsibility for where we are in our life what can happen. I have bought numerous copies of this book and given them as gifts. THIS is the only book in 10 years I have done that with. This book will not make you rich but if you do what the book says YOU will see a change in your life and yourt finances. Please excuse my spelling and have a great life. I believe all is possible when we TAKE action.

I thought this was a very revealing book regarding the attitudes that we carry, and how they can be detrimental to our ability to create wealth. It makes you stop and think how you think about wealth, and people that are wealthy. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to improve their attitudes about their aspirations of what they can attain, and just see how each of us could possibily be holding ourself back, just with our attitude. Very inspiritional!

One of the most powerful books I have ever read, without going into details, this book helped me realign myself to becoming wealthy and the steps are so easy it's a shame that it's not being taught in schools. The step that Mr Eker shows that it's an inner game of wealth than an outer game and the steps are so easy that anyone can be wealthy, but I will point out wealth also deals with other parts of your life aside from the money/financial aspects. This book changed my life and to Harv, I say,Thank You

I bought this book because it was on a reading list from a yoga studio. The fact that a book about money was on a yoga reading list immediately intrigued me. Let me just say that this book totally changed my thoughts about money. It forced me to expose (to myself) the deeply ingrained ideas I had about money that I acquired from my family. For the first time in my life, I realized that what I thought about money just wasn't true. I learned that I could change my perception of money. This shift in my thinking was a pivotal event for me that led from my being a school teaching to owning my own business. I am so grateful for this book. Eker's seminars are outstanding as well. Just like his book, he forces you to look at your habits and thoughts. No hiding out in your comfort zone (so that's the link with yoga!)

I purchased this book mainly because I was interested in the section saying that "rich people are good receivers, and poor people are poor receivers." It's more difficult to be the receiver than the giver for many people. They feel unworthy or feel as if they are obligated to return the gift, whether it is a verbal "you look good today," or it's a gift of paying the bill at a restaurant. Learning to be a good receiver is just as important as learning to be a good giver. This puts us in the flow of wealth, instead of blocking it. When we receive, all that is necessary is a "thank you."

Three years ago my wife and I read this book and although Harv has been accused of ripping off other writers, which may be true, Harv, in the process of writing his book has stumbled over some other less know truths about money and people's relationship with money.
Are there truly any new ideas. If you look at this book from the perspective of maybe where Harv literally came from, ( his childhood) you may see his discovery of money and his relationship with it.
I have been to six of his seminars and would say that the experience was 90% beneficial. There were times that it was just overboard, but we all need support in life and the lessons learned could help anyone.
My recommendation is to invest the money and read the book. If you don't like it, give it to someone who you think might benefit from it. If you like it then keep it for future reference.

This book has some good concepts to get you thinking however it also contains many negative attributes. The author goes through lengthy, wordy, and poorly written examples to teach the difference between them [the millionaires] and you. He makes many statements but cites no references to back them up leaving you feeling as though they're an opinion. It seems that he starts each new lessen with "at the millionaire mind intensive seminar i teach..." which gets VERY old. As the book's end nears he pushes his seminar and book even more. He encourages you to tell 100 people about the book including friends, family, and acquaintances. He then tells you that you must sign up for his seminar and any reason you can think not to sign up is only an excuse. He uses the lessons taught earlier in the book to rationalize why your track to becoming a millionaire is not complete without his seminar. At this point you feel like the entire book was ramping up just to sell you his seminars. I would not recommend this book to anyone nor will I let anyone borrow it . If you want inspiration, Rich dad poor dad was a much, much better book.

My advice is to borrow or check this book out at a library if you are so set on reading it. Otherwise, you could nearly gleen everything this book has to say by reading some of the top rated reviews.

(Hide Review...)  A 19th-Century Idea Repackaged for the New Age
Reviewer Permalink
This book is an outgrowth of the nineteenth-century science of mind idea that thoughts are things: "What mind can conceive, man can achieve." This is now known as the law of attraction (like attracts like). Control your thoughts to control your destiny. This book should appeal to those who believe in the law of attraction who are comfortable with prayer and affirmations who wish to improve their finances and overcome negative or counterproductive programming or conditioning surrounding money. The author says that only poor people say that money is not important. Money is very important, he argues, in all the areas in which money applies, although completely unimportant in the areas in which it does not apply; to say that love is more important may be true, but it is irrelevant!

Start by identifying your financial tapes: the programming absorbed from your parents. These set your "financial thermostat" to a certain income level. To increase your income and your net worth, you need to reset your financial thermostat. To do this, you must stop identifying with old tapes (sour grapes of the have-nots, derogatory attitudes about rich people, etc.), which keep you from feeling good about doing better financially. Many of our unconscious financial tapes do not serve us. Learn to reprogram yourself to be wired for success and prosperity. The author supplies affirmations for prosperity consciousness and techniques: stand in front of a mirror, hold your hand over your heart, and say the affirmation out loud, then touch your forehead with your index finger and say, "I have millionaire mind."

The author, in addition to his pop psychology about prosperity consciousness (which he calls "millionaire mind") provides pop sociology concerning how rich people think, how middle-class people think, and how poor people think. These general, broad-brush characterizations seem accurate: middle-class people focus on income, for instance; rich people focus on net worth. Poor people think of the short term; rich people think of the long term. Middle-class people value security; rich people value freedom. Poor people want to survive. Middle-class people want to be comfortable. Rich people want financial freedom, wealth, and abundance, and they are willing to make sacrifices to achieve their goals. (Poor people only want to be rich or dream about it, but they are not willing to do whatever it takes to achieve that goal.) This should be familiar to the student of intellectual history from early twentieth-century popular writers who asked, "Do you sincerely wish to be rich?" These ideas are not new, just repackaged (quite profitably).

People's reaction to this book will be governed by their receptivity to (or resistance to) self-help books, pop psychology, motivational speakers and ideas, and New Age presentations of the law of attraction. The people who are looking for a book about types of investments and how to invest their money will be disappointed; to them, this book may seem like superficial pop-psychological nonsense.

After reading a couple pages of this book I realized I made a mistake and this guy wasn't the real deal...
More and more I read through it I realized he is just trying to milk the self motivation business and come out with a book to generate some cash, and advertise his seminars like every few pages! Talk about over kill!
To sum up his book can be done in a couple sentences!
1: surround yourself my millionaires and hopefully some of their energy will brush off on you...
2: only you can make your dreams come true!
3: change your frame of mind to think rich...

Wow! Took 200 pages to tell us that...

I think this book just shows how he has been milking this business.
He goes around the country and gives speeches to people who are weak and desperate for change! He has found a niche market which pays him money!
He comes out with books, and tries to relate with stories of hardship etc... But frankly he really doesn't have a clue! the prices he charges just goes to show you he is ONLY OUT TO MAKE MONEY! the way he makes it is off peoples hopes! I'd rather give my money to Deepak Chopra than this guy!
He is marketing himself throughout the book so that's very ugly at times also...
The book goes on and on and on about nothing, he repeats himself over and over again! The book is nothing more than a business venture for the author to make some more money!
Smart move on to generate more wealth, but unfortunately the book is full of hopes and dreams, but doesn't give anyone any advice on how to generate wealth!
I felt the author wanted to jump into this market so he needed a book!
He came up with a premise of mindsets! Frankly speaking false hope.
Pass on this book if you have already read a self-help book, because this book just regurgitates the same as every other book...
"You have to make it happen, you can do it! The power is within you blar blar blar"

If you are looking at a book to help generate wealth and help with investing money, look elsewhere...

Addressing any rational ADULTS who may be reading these reviews; I would like to point out a few obvious facts so that you don't lapse into making a poor purchase.
Each human being is an individual and leads a unique life comprised of a flowing series of unique opportunities. Each human being makes decisions about these opportunities based upon many, many factors revolving around "self" and also around external elements/circumstances. THEREFORE, it is utterly impossible ( and completely insanely ridiculous ) to try and achieve "success" by studying others. Your life is YOUR LIFE. The circumstances and ongoing flow of opportunities which make it up are not the same as the circumstances or opportunities or people or places making up the life of a Donald Trump. Obviously you cannot pattern your advance toward "success" or wealth by looking at Trump's decisions or behavior.
This book is absurd in the extreme. Who can get inside ANYONE'S MIND at any time for any reason? Are human beings robots manufactured on a factory assembly line....with the same software installed for functioning? Of course not!!! The only person who REALLY knows what Donald Trump ( or any other person - wealthy or not ) thinks, it is Trump himself....not his parents, not his kids, not any of his trophy wives, and certainly NOT THIS AUTHOR...only Trump REALLY knows Trump's thinking and reasoning!
And remember, the unique opportunities in each individual's life hang on their time in history, their location on the planet, the other people they've associated with, and so on. And in every case, all of this is totally different from one individual to the next. So, THERE IS NO "MILLIONAIRE MIND"....THERE IS NOTHING STANDARD IN HOW MILLIONAIRES THINK. In other words, don't fall for this sort of sucker bait.
If you want to get wealthy, spend a lot less money than you make and put what you save to work making more money for you. That's all that anyone can really do that is "standard procedure" to gain wealth. Everything else is a matter of what sort of opportunities come your way and what times in your life and how you do or don't uniquely deal with them.

This is a good book - reason - because you must understand that you have to be ready to have money - in order to keep monies - if you are not - it will be gone - understand what is at stake - you may not like the book based on the message because it is work - as everything is in this world -

This book was enjoyable, packed with useful information and a fast, easy read. My husband and I both read it and we are using it to change the way we think about our finances. We are also attending the authors three day FREE workshop this month in New Jersey. When you purchase the book, you get free tickets to his three day workshops that are held all over the US...pretty cool. Highly recommend this to everyone.

Love the book. Easy read. T. Harv Eker gives great life examples that anyone can relate to. Easy for one to determine their money blueprint. This book definitely helped me to take a new view and approach toward life and toward myself. I bought a copy for my daughter and have recommended it to several others as a "MUST" buy.

Secrets of the Millionaire Mind is one of the most powerful audio books I have ever listened to!!!! The author is clear cut, in your face, and to the point. He points out that the difference between rich people and poor and middle class is a matter of mind set. Most people will not become wealthy becaust they feel they are not worthy, and also due to their financial blue print. The author shows you how to break through these self destructive thoughts.
This book is the GEATEST!!!!!!
