I've been preparing raw food for a couple months now. Juliano's RAW uncookbook was my first book (I wouldn't recommend it for starting out, I didn't get really into raw food until the two books I bought after). I got this book and ani's raw food kitchen at the same time. They're both great books with delicious recipes. I use them a lot, and like them for different reasons. This book is more simple, which I enjoy as the recipes are quicker. I feel that this book helped me the most to understand the basics of preparing raw food. The ingredients are all easily available (unlike juliano's and sometimes ani's). Yes some of the recipes are a bit obvious like making your own lemon juice, but I'm not hung up on that because there is much more to the book than a few over-simplified recipes. If you get this, I highly recommend the almond cookies and carob mousse made with avocado (I love making these for people who aren't familiar with raw preparation, they are always shocked and gobble them down!) But really, most of the recipes are awesome --except for the energizing purifying juice, not so much.

I am not a vegetarian but was looking to move toward a more healthy eating style. Jennifer Cornbleet's Raw Food Made Easy is true to it's title. She organizes the book well including an equipment list on each recipe page, provides a weekly shopping list which makes grocery shopping a breeze. I've tried several of the recipes and liked them all. This is a well organized book with plenty of resources for the beginning Raw Food enquirer.

What is beautiful about this book is that it provides a perfect beginning for those of us who are making the hugh shift to raw food. I'm now 100% raw and have purchased many raw food books and the only one that feels right so far is "Raw food Made Easy". I enjoy learning the basics and building upon them, so learning how to chop parsley doesn't insult my intellect.

Many of the recipes in the other books are overwhelming and after all the sweat and tears, taste like crap. Jennifer's recipes are simple and taste heavenly. I find it easy to adjust to my own tastes and don't feel bad if it doesn't work out.

Some of my favorites: whole oatmeal w/almond milk (YUM!), not tuna, chocolate mousse, marinara and zucchini noodles. All so good and fresh.

Try out Jennifer's dvd, too. She truly is a teacher and the visuals will help with prepping and motivate you to get started.

As I work full time, I wanted a straightforward and practical book with quick and easy recipes, using everyday ingredients, that would encourage me to include more raw food in my diet. This book is perfect! It is set out in a clear and logical manner, with easy-to-follow recipes and invaluable information on individual ingredients, equipment and utensils, and any necessary preparation. A juicer, blender or food processor are required for most recipes, although some require no special equipment. It is also of a handy size and has an attractive and inviting cover.

I have tried several recipes, all of which have only taken minutes to make, and have tasted delicious - and so healthy! I especially enjoyed the Energizing-Purifying Juice and Flourless Chocolate Cake with Chocolate Buttercream Frosting. I never knew avocado could be used in place of butter, cream and eggs and taste so divine! I have attached a few photos.

I like this book so much that I bought a copy for two of my friends, who are also raw food beginners.

All in all, an ideal kitchen companion for anyone who wishes to create easy, tasty and healthy meals, and discover the benefits and delights of raw food.

I love this book! I have been a vegetarian most of my life and attempted going raw a few times. This book is so foundational! I don't have a lot of time for laborious recipes, but I want to eat raw as much as possible. Jenny Cornbleet created this 'cookbook' especially for people like me who don't have a dehydrator and don't have a lot of time to prepare delicious raw meals. The recipes in this book are so good and so easy that I often double the recipe and refrigerate the rest. I recently made the mediterranean kale salad (best with Lacinato kale, I think) and the chocolate mousse (unbelievably good!). If you have a cutting board, a knife, a blender, and a food processor (go out and buy one already!), you're good to go!

I have been trying a few of these recipes each week, I LOVE them, they taste good and I feel better eating fresh and healthy. I got this book to just bring more variety into what I eat. I use some of the recipes for my one-year-old son also, he likes some of them. I have been able to find most things mentioned at my local grocery store.

I was glad I started off learning how to make raw foods with this book. You don't need to buy any expensive equipment, although having a food processor is definately a worth-while investment. The recipes are tasty and simple.

This book is invaluable! I'm new at this, so I'll reference back to it, even when I'm making recipes from other books. The recipes are awesome (I LOVE the marinara sauce!). The recipes are for only 1 or 2 people, so I can make a little bit on that first try, to see if I'm gonna like it. Instead of wasting a lot of money and resources on something I might not like. She is so detailed that if you are new at juicing, you'll know how many carrots to use for a 8 oz glass of carrot juice, or you'll learn to organize yourself by having the necessary and often used staples like chopped onions, lemon juice, etc. - so you can be ready for any recipe during the week. You'll know what items to buy in bulk and what items to buy weekly. She indicates how long each recipe will last in the fridge (one of my favorite features) - A "MUST" for those of us who are not totally committed yet. Her DVD is extremely professional and entertaining and a GREAT resource to have as well - BOTH are COMPLETELY worth every penny.

This book has been very helpfull as I start down this road to raw food health. I have tried many recipes and most have been very good. She provides lists of "Kitchen Staples" a "Guide to soaking nuts & seeds" and "Tools and techniques" which have been very helpful.

I own about 7 raw food books and this one is the latest one that I have purchased. I wish it had been the first. The recipes are quick and easy. I found things I could make fast and take with me for work so I wouldn't give into the fast cooked food restaurants. I found I can stay on the raw path a lot easier with the recipes in this book. It's worth the purchase.

Excellent cookbook. Easy to follow recipes using basic ingredients that most of us have or can find in any local supermarket. Another plus is the taste factor. Even die-hard meat n' potato types will find many of the dishes enjoyable (I know because my husband is one!). You don't have to be a raw foodist or even a vegan (I'm not) to enjoy and benefit from this cookbook. There are some color photos, nicely done, that add to the overall quality of the book.

I did see one rating with three stars because they are a pro cook and the cookbook was "easy". Please view that as an isolated opinion since the cookbook never suggests that it is gourmet therefore why discredit it for being easy and simple.

Give it a try - I think you will really enjoy the food you create! One of my favorites is the chocolate mousse, page 160, made entirely without animal products. Yum!

I own several other raw uncook books but this one is by far the best. It isn't preachy on raw dogma or requires you to purchase a product. It is a simple guide with yummy recipes. I like that Jenny has lots of variations on each recipe that allows for customization of the food to your taste. The design of this book is simple so don't expect lots of slick and glossy photos- just yummy recipes with clear instructions. If you try one thing out of here- make it the key lime pie- yum! Happy Eating!

I love this cookbook because every recipe I have tried has turned out great! Maybe we just have the same taste. For instance, many raw foodists make a mock chocolate cake with walnuts, raisins, and carob, a combination that makes me ill. Cornbleet makes this instead with walnuts, dates, carob, and vanilla, and making that change is a stroke of genius.

Also, the recipes are not complicated and don't take a long time to make. (Raw Food/Real World, for instance, has gorgeous pictures, but the recipes are so labor-intensive I never feel like attempting them.)

The only downside is that because the recipes are supposed to be for "1 or 2 people", I always have to double or quadruple the amounts if I want more than a single serving.

I was rather disappointed with this book. First and foremost, a recipe book should make a person salivate as they look through it. The pictures lack clarity and good lighting, and the book's design is almost too simple. That being said, the author does have some really good ideas and tips for making up your own recipes. Think of these recipes as very rough guides, just waiting to be tweaked to your own personal tastes. Her dips, pates, and marinara sauces are delicious though, and in my opinion they make buying the book worthwhile. Just don't rely on it to be your main sourcebook. I should also probably mention that the author isn't as picky as other raw chefs about most of her ingredients being raw. One of her soup recipes is actually cooked. On a sidenote, most of her dessert recipes call for avocados, so if you're allergic to them, like me ( oh, the pain!), you'll have to do some adjusting or just find different recipes.

Ok...I was really disappointed. This is not what I had anticipated, but it is just what it says in other reviews a newbie guide to raw. But I expected so much more info on foods and combinations as well as simple but interesting ideas. Not stuff like Grape juice: bunch of grapes, then juice! I mean really now. If any one can tell me where to find a great raw food book that has 1-4 ingredient recipes that are fun, realistic and interesting, please let me know.

I have been interested in raw food idea for a long time, but was kind of afraid of the whole thing. I absolutely love this cook book! The recipes are really good and simple to make. My family loves most of it and I even have a few of my coworkers buying the same book and trying a new way of eating.

I bought the cookbook in conjunction with the companion DVD (sold separately). Personally, I see the cookbook as mere support for the video instruction. Bought alone--it would seem overly simplistic and even possibly frustrating that various recipes overlap. As support for the DVD explanation it makes perfect sense. Considering the set is for beginners in the raw food lifestyle it is absolutely fantastic. For people who already know all about juicing and vegetable preparation--it can seem a little trite at times--but for the average American ignorant to all things raw--the dvd helps you understand without feeling stupid or lost in strange new vocabularies and unusual foods.
I would have to say--for anyone who complains about the cost of the machines often used in raw fooding--sell your stove--and that alone will more than pay for any and all raw food supplies. That's what I did.
I have a juicer, dehydrator, blender, citrus juicer, food processor, water distiller,etc...all for far less than my old stove. I wouldn't buy this item without the DVD. Together they are a magical pair, great for an experienced raw foodist like myself and for sharing with all my friends who wonder how I can survive and thrive on a raw food diet. The information is practical for a busy life on the go, full of variety and unique flavors without complexity, fast, and tasty. Not to mention recipes similar to old comfort foods to satisfy any old lingering cravings. 5 stars all the way!

This is a fantastic beginner raw foods book. None of the recipes require anything more complicated than a blender and food processor. I taste-tested some of the recipes with a few omnivores with great results. The Walnut Paté and Flourless Chocolate Cake paid for the book alone.

Don't be discouraged by the worst book cover design I've ever seen. The recipes are great. They also need a better food stylist, lighting designer, photographer but only b/c they are not doing this book justice.

This book is great! The first recipe I made called the "Guacamole Sandwich" was the best thing I've ever tasted! I'll never think about eating cooked food again! All of the recipes are simple, fast and easy to understand.

I am a not a hard-core raw foodist. I just think incorporating raw foods is a good way to work towards a healthy diet. I have a few raw food books but this one has the easiest recipes to prepare. It's perfect for a beginner and even as I progress to more complicated meals, I come back to these recipes again and again. I particularly love the "Not Meatballs w/ Zucchini Pasta," "Mediterranean Kale" and "Walnut Pate." There are good desserts too, such as brownies... yum.

Also recommended: Raw Food, Real World-- More labor intensive recipes but excellent; has beautiful photos. Further, if you are ever in NYC, you may want to check out Pure Food and Wine-- I was skeptical (What?! A raw food restaurant? Come on!) but the food was very tasty and the restaurant had a cozy atmosphere...

I am new to the raw food world and found this book by Jennifer Cornbleet to be a fantastic introduction! The recipes were enticing, instructions were simple, and the previously daunting task (for me!) of making interesting food in the context of a raw diet was made not only effortless but delicious with the help of this book. The chocolate mousse and marinara sauce became immediate favorites of mine. The not-tuna pate in sushi is another meal I really look forward to. I have continued to be inspired to incorporate more and more raw meals into my diet from this book and recommend it to anyone else who is getting started in this healthy way of eating!

Although I do not cook much, I have read and browsed countless cookbooks since a young age. If I had the chance to thumb through this book at a bookstore before buying it, I definately would have put it back on the shelf. Actually, I probably wouldn't have even picked it up as it just looks like a cheaply produced book by an amateur. Its dull, few pictures and many recipes require that you refer to other recipes in the book in order to make your selected recipe. I really hate starting a recipe and then finding out that I need to flip to some other section in the book and prepare another recipe in order to complete the recipe I started.

I absolutely appreciate a cook book with simple, easy to use recipes. But this book is filled with almost laughable recipes that are almost too absurd to be true. Take the recipe for chopped parsley...Which is of course simply chop the parsley. Or carrot juice... which is take a few carrots and then juice them. At some point you have to ask: who in the world would buy a cook book that tells them how to make chopped parsley?! There are so many amazing raw food books out there, and this just isn't one of them.

I was very disappointed with this book. The number of "recipes" having only one or two ingredients was ridiculous. I mean, Lemonade: 4 lemons; Carrot Juice: 6 carrots. I would think a professional could get a little more creative than that. I also found it annoying that the photos in the book were placed no where near the recipe they depicted. Bottom line, I was so put-off by the number of "non-recipes" in the no-cook cookbook that I returned it. I also just got The Raw Food Detox Diet and Rawvolution and both of those are excellent so far and are much more creative and helpful to a newbie raw foodie.

This book has great raw food recipes. All recipes are extremely simple and turn out delicious. I tried almost all recipes in this book, and love each and everyone one of them. The walnut pate, zucchini humus, and raw marinara sauce are some of my favourite recipes. Nori rolls turn out great too. Desert recipes, which are based on nuts, dried and fresh fruits, are quick to prepare, healthy and delicious. I love the brownies! I highly recommend this book..

Written for someone who dreams of starting a raw food diet. I still don't know how she made it s- o- easy. Two thumbs up. The DVD offers some nice additional pointers. I recommend it after using the book for three months. By the way, don't spend the extra money for organic produce.

So far I've made the walnut pate/"meatballs", mock sour cream dip (cashew based), Not Tuna Pate (this will become MY daily staple, too!), Creamy Cucumber soup and mango custard pie with the macadamia, coconut, date crust. Wow. They were all incredibly simple yet flavorful and satisfying. I added dried dill and a dash of cayenne to the Not Tuna Pate and was in heaven, I ate it on salad, on Valya's Raw Bread (from 12 Steps to Raw Food), AND in nori rolls with sprouts, avocado and cucumber - it didn't even need dipping sauce. As for the desserts, I'm dreaming about that mango custard pie..the pie crust is unbelievably rich and buttery. mmmmmmm.....so I can just imagine how amazing her blackberry crumble and blueberry tart are going to be. Even though I've been a raw foodist for 6 weeks now...so, my taste buds may be different from the average person, I think these recipes are universally yummy.

I am new to eating raw. This is an excellent resource for simple recipes. Along with the recipes, Cornbleet gives basic shopping lists. I especially like how she lists the tools needed for each recipe at the start of the recipe. This book is good for simple recipes as indicated by its title and introduction. It does not give basics about raw foods and combining or in-depth information on sprouting and such. It does not claim to do so either. It holds to its claim on simple, easy recipes for preparing small quantities of food. Cornbleet also give a number of resources for shopping. I especially LOVE the zucchini humus, Not Tuna Pate, and Classic Vinaigrette Dressing. Oh, the chocolate mousse is WONDERFUL and hard to believe it is made with avocados.

This is the 3rd raw prep "cook" book I've purchased & the only one I use regularly. The recipes all use familiar ingredients, common kitchen utensils & short prep times. Before this book, raw food prep intimidated & exasperated me. Who wants to spend hours in the kitchen dehydrating, sprouting and soaking? This book definitely makes raw food easy & accessible. The recipes are yummy, my favorite so far are the Not Peanut Butter Cookies, and actually fun to prepare. The recipes can be simply adjusted to expand for more than 1 or 2 people.

I also really liked the raw prep basic info that prefaces the recipes. The author tells you why & how to soak nuts & seeds, how to store & ripen produce, and how to follow the recipes in addition to other info. I especially like that the bulk of the recipes can be prepared using appliances you probably already have: a food processor & blender.
This book is a great addition to the healthy home chef's library!

I've been hunting around for some good raw food recipe books that were not all centered around appliances like the dehydrator and high end sprouting devices I do not yet own. This book seemed to be very popular on raw food sites and amazon alike so I decided to go ahead and get it. On the plus side- nearly all the recipes were very easy to make only using and blender and/or food processor. However, nearly all the recipes in this book were not new recipes I had yet to see and of the ones that were- they were dissappointing in taste. Not to mention- if one has food allergies and/or intolerances to the nightshade family, coconut or other nuts- your up a creek b/c those ingredients are dominant in each. The best and tasty recipes of the bunch were a couple of the dessert recipes including raw almond cookies and key lime mousse. Although the dessert recipes might be difficult on some people's digestion as the nuts and seeds are not presoaked. All in all- I would opt for a different raw food recipe book if you want more tasty recipes and many still contain fairly simple to prepare recipes.

Yes.. the title is good for the book it is easy and the recipes are small enough for 1 ot 2 people. However- it depends on your tastebuds whether or not you will like this book. It seems most recipes while simple I would not say they are delish. Some of the recipes almost seemed like mush and I really don't like mush. so I would recommend it if you are very NEW to raw food cusine.. but if you enjoy RAW food for it's bountiful flavor and enjoy making food that makes your brain go WOW! - why bother eating anything else then- i would not recommend this book for you.
