I must admit to not only being impressed with the content of the book(which I've read twice now to acquire a better understanding of at least the Quantum Physics, a difficult subject on its own), but additionally purchased the guided meditation available from Dr. Wolinsky's website. In the EXPERIENCE of emptiness(or referred to as the "non state state") one derives from listening to the CD, it can easily substantiate the points made in the book.

Everybody should read a book like this - at least once in their life. (Not that there is another book of its kind around)

It is like "Mind, the User's Manual" and is a full synthesis of Zen, Yogic Methods, Psychology and Quantum Physics.

And believe me Steve Wolinsky has a deceptively good knowledge of all of the above. For a kick-off he spent many years learning from Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj in India and also many Buddhist Masters. He gives more detail on the nature of time in a few short paragraphs than anyone I have come across - except maybe Jesus in "A Course in Miracles". Another powerful feature of this book is that Steve migrates us away from traditional Yogic and Zen methods that look on the mind as a passive receiver and only by healing its reactions to its observations that it can heal itself. Instead Steve teaches us that mind is the creator of all it observes - and so all we perceive is more accurately seen to be our own creative observation. This is a totally different system and creates space for liberation, responsibility and transformation of our world. And so all reality is created in the present moment through our current thoughts and beliefs - the Quantum being a memoryless system. And so we are our world and fully responsible for it and changing our world is as simple as changing out thoughts - Excellent!

His exercises are very powerful if practiced with any intent, they include looking at thoughts and emotional energy as separate from the your real Self and part of the universal non-differentiated energy continuum. He works with you, to break up energy clusters and identifications caused by labeling events and relationships and to shift your perspective to create release. He also brings in Milton Erickson's teachings to help one view and solve present problems from the standpoint of a future perspective.

There are however a few key weaknesses in this book :-

(i) Boring for the most part - I can hardly ever read more than a few pages at a time. Wolinsky is not good at breaking the Ice or Introducing freak sideshows. Considering the extremely excellent content of his book -this is unfortunate!

(ii) I think S.Wolinsky should have written a book of theory first before launching himself as the Quantum Consciousness Guru. I am sure he has the knowledge base to do such a book. After all he cites many excellent sources in this book. And has a good understanding of time, space , identification, quantum collapse of ideas and inner dynamics.

(iii) When he asks us (me) to think of energy as shapes, I simply cannot do this. Maybe as a color, but as a shape that is going too far for me. Maybe he could give some examples of some shapes that different energies take.

Anyway, these are just a few of my thoughts as I plough my way to the 2/3 section of the book.

I am confident that it is well worth it for those who ever finish it!

Please excuse me for now - but I have somewhat of an exciting life to live

I was not familiar with the concept of quantum physics or the theory of quantum consciousness. Although I may not subscribe to all the beliefs I was able to understand the concept behind quantum consciousness. This book is written in a very neutral non-threatening manner so that even those of us with religious beliefs do not feel offended or assaulted. It is informative without being pushy.

I honestly hope the other reviewers really did become as fulfilled from reading this as they say. I was given it because I have a background in Physics and an interest in psychology and religions. Unlike most information in these areas, this book offers no substantiation for anything. It's a little bit watching a cartoon. It's somewhat entertaining for about five minutes, but you know it's not real. Most people will find it really hard to take the book seriously when there's no evidence for anything the author says.

This book has certainly changed my life. This is one of those books the reader must want to experience because it can be read at many different levels. Like learning anything one starts with simple steps then in time what seemed simple takes on deeper meaning. Wolinsky's writing style is exceptionally clear and lucid. Over and over I have found myself going back to read the same passages only to find out with each reading I learned even more. Remarkable book. Pretty amazing book might be better.

This is my second book by this author. I am impressed with the way he explains his ideas and his exercises in quantum psychology. I get the impression he really cares about the people who read his books. The book is powerful to me because of the humility and humor evident in his writing style. It is a challenging read, but if you "get" just one of the many ideas he presents, the book has more than paid for itself. It's a good book to read, then give some time, then read again. Then again.

Wolinsky has a profound background in Eastern meditation practice. His educational credentials and practical experience in his field are impressive. This book does not delve into the complexities of Quantum physics. It does make use of some of the basic premises of Quantum theory and Quantum Psychology as it relates to psychotherapy. In the first chapter, "Arousing the Giant," Wolinsky offers a historical review of David Bohm's ideas. Wolinsky's work differs from many spiritual institutions or systems in regards to faith and belief. He states on p. 10, "Most psychological and spiritual systems **require** faith and belief. The quantum approach, which arises from a perception of the relativity of beliefs, asks one to recognize its validity from a subjective experience only." This book primarily teaches the reader how to objectify subjective thoughts, feelings and life experiences through a series of short exercises. Wolinsky provides ways to observe personal subjective reality as an energy and by objectifying this energy, the power of it is placed in a different context and shifted. I found the exercises workable but I will say that the book remains complex. It is well laid out and thoughtfully put together but I would not recommend this to a beginner who is seeking simple self help techniques. I agree that reading Wolinsky's earlier work on the basics of quantum theory may assist in further appreciating this publication of Wolinsky's work.

This book blew away my old beliefs about what my life is about.
I'm the boss ! only I didn't know it. I've had one read through and now I will go back, take my time and do the exercises and begin to create consciously the world I would like to be in. I just could not put it down once it arrived.

I really enjoyed this book. I can't pretend to have grasped every idea put forward, but this book goes a long way towards helping me understand more of life. It takes up where a lot of others leave or don't explain well. I will definately be reading more by this author.

Wolinsky is a clinical psychologist with over a decade of serious spiritual practice. He presents a series of 85 meditation type exercises along with his spiritual philosophy. Many of these are identical to the sadhanas of various eastern practices. If Wolinsky has done nothing else he has given us a coursework for spiritual practice. I would suggest to read through the book and read and try the exercises as you come to them. When you have more time revisit the exercises as a practice.

An excellent set of ideas on psychology and on meditation techniques. Ideas are explained here far more clearly than by most other books and teachers of meditation.

Dr. Wolinski draws parallels between eastern meditation techniques and Bohmian quantum theory that seem very speculative. The quantum physics connections are fascinating, but one would be hard pressed to take them literally. If you take them as metaphors, the book then becomes a gold mine of tools for meditation and psychology.

I love this book, as well as WOlinsky's Tao of Chaos. It points out the limitations of traditional western psychology--which frequently involves moving the stuff around and while he teaches one to look at the very essence of who we are, thereby transcending our stories. This book motivated me to continue my meditation practice. I learned alot from this book and I have explored nearly every type of "growth or consciouness" group. The only training which brings one to this state has been the Avatar training in my experience.

(Hide Review...)  Some Reasons Why You May Want To Experience This Book
Reviewer Permalink
To summarize Dr. Wolinsky's "Quantum Consciousness," we are often living somewhere else other than the present time. We do this by distracting ourselves with ideas and concepts about what we should be, what things mean, judgments and interpretations that we have made about people, places, things and situations. This point of view creates our internal states and we forget that we are the authors of these states in the first place. The pulls of these states are so strong that it seems like reality to us. This dictates how we think, feel and behave.Problems and pain come in because our awareness stay focused on our narrow points of views.

Dr. Wolinsky offers a way to remedy this through the first level of quantum consciousness by realizing that we are more than the thoughts, feelings and ideas that we run thought our minds. We can distance ourselves by first intentionally experiencing whatever "occurs" to us, then intentionally distancing ourselves from this. Intentionally experiencing everything including pain is not an exercise in masochism because if you resist feeling sad for example, then sadness is always there (plus the energy to resist it). Only in first acknowledging it, then feeling it and lastly distancing oneself from it can you loosen its influence and move on.

Wolinsky doesn't expect you to believe this and instead ask the reader to adopt a "what if this is true" point of view and see what happens. In my opinion, if a reader "got" only this from the book by practicing it, they would see a startling change in their life (you could pay thousands of dollars on therapy and self improvement seminars, as I have and still not get the benefit that can be derived from this deceptively simple practice).

There is much more to the book as Wolinsky uses ideas from quantum physics, western psychology, religion and eastern meditation (always crediting his sources) to take the reader through the levels of quantum consciousness. In doing that he challenges virtually every assumption that we live under. If the reader is willing for a moment, to participate in the 80 plus exercises provided, by seriously contemplating("what if " this is how reality is) then in my opinion, they are in for one mind-blowing experience (unless one decides to invent something else).

As a person with a mental health and counseling background who has struggled with deep insecurities of his own and who has been seeking answers for quite sometime (and getting a few but not all), Dr. Wolinsky's ideas began to have a profound influence before I even finished chapter one. I will be working with Quantum Consciousness for quite sometime and look forward to the day when "it will disappear."

BUYERS BEWARE THE WORLD MAY NEVER LOOK THE SAME

Combining years of study in Eastern Meditation, with an insightful view on Quantum Physics, and Western Psychology, Wolinsky has found a way to get me to finally take up meditation.

A trippy good read
