It took over 3 weeks for this item to get to me. I was not happy. I am in grad school and they don't wait 3 weeks on you to get your books. Even standard shipping should only take a week.

The APA Manual 5th Edition I purchased through Amazon books is as advertised. It is in good, to very good condition. I received it in a timely fashion; at a very reasonable price.

Had to purchase it because I needed for graduate studies. This book is obsolete now as the new edition is out. For those of you who have purchased the new APA manual 6th edition, hope you have heard about all of the mistakes in it. Contact APA and the should send you corrections. You can have your copy sent there and they'll send a new one w/o charge.

I had to use this book for my MBA papers which required the APA format. Although I hate the format, this book gives me the much needed information. It helped me with many of the format and style, but it does lacks to cover some of the modern usages. For example, how would I reference a blog or podcast? The publication has to cover those.

The book isn't a true guide if you are looking for help. You need the book to understand the format but if you can use the search engines, I think you can get most of the information on the web.

I thought I was ordering the 6th Edition but I received the 5th so for me the purchases was useless

I'm taking an advanced writing/ APA course that uses the APA workbook and training manual. That workbook was made to coincide with this Publication Manual. However, this book was not a required text, so I found it here on amazon and bought it to help me in this course as an extra study tool. I'm in the final week of this course, and I use this Manual ALL the time! The APA codes line up exactly with the workbook and training manual. It is packed FULL of APA rules you need to know in order to write term papers, research papers, and journal articles.

I was very please with my copy of the book.
I plan to order more of my textbooks from this site.

The book is in fair shape, all the pages are present and usable. There is a coffee stain but it takes nothing from the books function. It was sent and delivered in a timely fashion.

This book is very complicated and hard to follow. Although it was recommended by my college, there are better books out there to help students with APA format. Don't waste your money

This book was ordered as a textbook for a class online at Phoenix. I have found that having the physical book is helpful when writing papers. Nearly every class I have forces me to write papers in the APA format. This book is helpful in that I have the physical book and that it is clearly written and organized. I find chapter 5 and 6 to be the most helpful.

I purchased this book becuase I have never written papers using the APA style. I had hoped that it would give me clear and concise direction on formatting the correct style. I was hoping to see examples of reference pages, etc. and they just aren't there. Trying to find your way around the book is kind of like trying to break an encryption code. You can tell this manual was written by academics and psychologists with no real desire to instruct. I found much better information and references on the internet after purchasing this book. I would suggest doing an internet search for APA style and use the many free references avaialable on the internet. Save your money and don't purchase this book.

I ordered using the ISBN and got the 5th edition, not the 6th. My professor insists that the APA changes fequently and that I need the 6th edition. Fairly easy to read, which surprised me, but if it's out of date, it is no good to me.

This book is helpful in instructing you how a document should look, but I felt it necessary to purchase a book on using Microsoft Word as well. The APA manual tells you what the acceptable format is, but not how to achieve it. An example is typing a reference page. The APA manual tells you to use a hanging indent, but not how to create a hanging indent. I needed to research the steps to create the indent. If you are savvy with a word processing program then the book is great alone.

There is a newer 6th edition, which I did not realize when I bought this one. I'm not sure what the differences are, so I'm going to make do with this one

The book came to me in a very short time, it is in great condition . This article is invaluable for me during my return to school for a bachelors degree. The price was awesome for the quality of the merchandise.

What can you say about this one. It is much needed if you are taking Psychology as a major or minor in any area. Up to date manual on what is required in writing.

This book was the best deal i got on a textbook. Only $20! how great is that plus more for shipping and handling, but it only an extra couple of dollars. i recommend buying for this user, no doubt.

This book is a must for researchers in the social sciences. However, I should have gotten the (cheaper) paperback version. I'm usually a bit of a snob when it comes to paperbacks, but since this is a reference book that I probably won't use much, the hardcover was an unnecessary extravagance.

Be sure to look at the dates on the reviews--the three that are shown with the 6th edition of APA (published in July 2009) are actually reviews of the 5th edition--a book which explains a format which is no longer acceptable.
Also, the Amazon "look inside" link takes you to an excerpt from the 5th edition, not the new one.

Edition five is now out of date. Go to the APA website and you will see edition six.

The APA manual is what it is. A necessary evil for those of us in academia doing research. That being said though, there is a new edition that is apparently only available on the APA web site at this time. It incorporates the updated eletronic citation references so may be worth buying it vice this edition at this time.

I did not recieve the product and did not get a response from the seller when I wrote to ask where it was. It was a book I needed for summer school, and had to pay twice as much to have one expidieted. I do not reccomend this seller to anyone. I also got an email saying i's recieve a tracking number and did not get that either. At least send a response saying that the product was sent.

If you are still at college, and if your constantly being asked to turn in written reports, essays, projects in APA formatt then you will NEED to buy this handbook!!! Without of I trully don't know what I would've done! I really don't have the time to waste googling a how to work on APA. This really did helped me and it still does !

The book arrived very promptly and it was in better condition than advertised. Only - slight - complaint is that the corner of the front cover was bent inside the shipping box causing unnecessary wear to the book. I am very satisfied. For the college student who is writing a term paper or in the workplace for the worker writing a formal report, if APA style is required, you need this book to make sense of APA formatting. APA is very detailed and requires specific knowledge to make the paper come out right. Without this book on APA format all of the research you have done on the content was for nothing!!
In short, don't go to college without it!!

Unfortunately, the book is required for my program which is very strict about APA. It seems I spend more time looking for something in the book than writing an actual paper. Information is arranged in a weird, completely illogical way.I can't wait till school is over so that I could burn it in my backyard.

All of my instructors for my BBA and my Master's Program require APA. This is the source that they use, so this is what I used. If we had any questions, our instructors would always refer to this.

If you are attending graduate school and you are required to read APA this book can be useful. What I liked about the manual was that it covered specific guidelines for writing in APA style( As it sholuld).What I felt could use improvement was how it does not give thorough "dummy proof" explanations to writing APA. As nervous as anyone can be writing in APA, I beleive the directions and instructions could have used some work.

Excellent resource for reference when writing a Doctorate dissertation. I needed to purchase this item for an advanced writing class and I have obtained more information from it than I have located on the Internet. I will continue using this book as an informative resource while writing my dissertation and I highly suggest it as a benefit to anyone writing a Doctorate or PhD dissertation as it provides the correct way to use APA format in that paper format.
