I have read Dr. Hawkins since 2003. The trilogy of Power versus Force, the Eye of the I, and simply "I" has been the most influential reading that I feel I have ever read outside of sacred scripture. I still am not sure that Kinesiological muscle testing is the "wormhole" that the doctor says it is, but his uses of theoretical concepts from particle physics, nonlinear dynamics, and chaos theory to support his study of human behavior is beyond merely intriguing. He is on to something. In my opinion the first 3 or 4 chapters of Power v. Force was a bit scientifically over my head, but as I read on the loose ends got tied together and it began to make sense. It is worth getting through the dryer stuff to get to the better stuff; and if you continue on to "Eye of the I" and "I" you get to the best stuff. The three books take off exponentially. If you don't believe me, look at the endorsements. This is what others have had to say about Power vs. Force. "A beautiful gift of writing... (You) spread joy, love, and compassion through what you write. The fruit of these three is peace, as you know..." --Mother Teresa. "Perhaps the most important and significant book I've read in the past ten years" --Dr. Wayne W. Dyer. "...particularly timely... a significant contribution to understanding and dealing with the problems we face today"
--Lee Iacocca. "I especially appreciate the research and presentation on the attractor patterns of business..." --Sam Walton. Humbly I believe I am in good company of opinion. I challenge you to read it through and give your opinion. (Review Data Last Updated: 2009-08-13 14:20:48 EST)

David Hawkins' writing is clear, lucid, sensitive and shows a deep desire to convey the message to the casual lay reader, who may or may not be a seeker of spiritual enlightenment.
The implications of Hawkins' research are mind-boggling. They are also fully supported in his detailed explanations of the research methodology. The results remained the same across barriers of class, religion, political views, race and personal views. His own spiritual experiences make for compelling reading, even if they are difficult to grasp by one who has not experienced such Enlightened states. His suggestions for the practical application of kinesiological testing within our society make perfect sense. And yet, it is immediately clear that where these applications would be most beneficial, they would probably not be welcomed. Toward the end of the book, Hawkins talks about youth subcultures whose music, although itself a trapping, is governed by negative, life-denying principles; the latter, he points out, are always implied in trappings. The discussion goes a long way to explicate some of the mind-boggling news accounts we read and hear of youths committing unspeakable acts. These youths develop inverted responses to kinesiological testing: they go weak when given a positive statement, and they remain strong when the stimuli is negative. The terms "negative" and "positive," as Hawkins uses them, refer simply to statements of truth, statements or substances that affirm life being positive; the opposite being negative. We also learn that an average television program causes a "normal" test subject (i.e., one whose values have not been inverted, as in the case above) to go "weak" 113 times during the course of a single show. Our autonomic and central nervous systems are essentially under attack, as are our immune systems while watching a single "innocent" television program. His map of human consciousness, which assigns a numbered calibration to each level of human awareness (1 through 1,000), is frightening in view of the level of consciousness of 78 percent of the world's population. The level of Integrity is 200; it is the lowest level at which a person, event or thing can be considered life-affirming. Anything below 200 is destructive of life. As for 78 percent of the world's population: they calibrate below 200. Until recently (when Power vs. Force was written), that number was 85 percent. The good news is that one loving, positive thought is so much more powerful than one negative, life-denying thought, that the 22 percent who calibrate above 200 have the power to counterbalance the remaining 78 percent. The calibrations increase logarithmically, rather than mathematically, so that one individual at level 700, counterbalances 70 million individuals below 200. A chilling thought: Koko, the gorilla who has worked with a psychologist for several years at the Primate Research Institute, has developed a sophisticated sign language and has been found to be intelligent, sensitive, and trustworthy. Koko's level of Integrity calibrates at 250. Therefore, essentially you would be in safer company with Koko the gorilla, than you would with 78 percent of the people on the planet. There's been a lot of discussion about Dr Hawkins' book. Whether you buy into "attractor fields", the science of kinesiology or such I have to state that I did enjoy this book. I won't endeavor to substantiate his findings but I did learn from his perspective on the relationship of awareness, consciousness, experience and the mechanics of perception.
The book can lean to a bit of clinical talk now and then but it's kept to a reasonable level. I didn't get distracted by the testing and the rating scale of energy levels as I really was more interested in Dr Hawkins' explanation as to what is behind the curtain in respect to human behaviors. Dr Hawkins illustrates how the implementation of power supports and nourishes while the use of force consumes. That topic will make you consider how humans approach the stewardship of government and planet. (Review Data Last Updated: 2009-08-02 16:17:23 EST)
