I love Karen Kingsbury and I enjoyed this book. It's not one of her best, but it is a great story. I have to say I had the ending figured out about half way through, but I was still interested enough to finish the book. Kingsbury did a great job of bringing the day of September 11th back to life. Everyone has a different story about that day and I think we can all relate to the pain and fear that you feel reading this story.

I couldn't put this book down and I have two small children to care for! I was able to stop only towards the end because I was crying so hard and couldn't see the pages. After a short break, I went back to it. The book showed how one person's life can have a huge impact on other people. It was inspiring!

Kingsbury handles a very difficult story line with grace, offering testimony of God's amazing love even through horrible times. The author says the story was given to her during the 911 attacks, and this book will help us all heal. Difficult to put down, this beautiful story lifts spirits out of the ashes of that dreadful day and its aftermath and into hope for times to come.

This is the first book I ever read by Karen Kingsbury. Actually, it was the cover that caught my eye but even as I gazed at the picture of the twin towers, I thought to myself, "I....don't know about reading something on this order." I am SO glad I took the plunge because I found out well-written Christian Fiction is the best! Here's a tip. Make sure you have "Beyond Tuesday Morning" waiting in the wings for you'll kick yourself if you don't.
I am now an avid reader of Ms. Kingsbury's work and have a whole shelf dedicated just to her in my own personal library. All I have to do is see her name on a book and it's mine. It is so great to be able to say that about an author, isn't it? "Oceans Apart" and the "Redemption" series would be my next recommendations to a new Kingsbury fan. PS I GAVE THIS BOOK 5 STARS BUT THE COUNTER SLIPPED AND I COULD NOT EDIT IT! WHAT A BUMMER. (Review Data Last Updated: 2007-11-01 09:01:15 EST)

I have this book in the double book edition that also includes "Beyond Tuesday Morning." The author does a great job writing about what it possibly could have been like in the Towers that day. She writes with sensitivity, but is able to express the raw emotions that many felt that day. More importantly, she is able to weave scripture and biblical insight into the book. Even I had a few "ah ha" moments about my own life in relation the scriptures that were helping the characters. All in all, I love the book, but of course since it deals with 9/11, it brings up sadness and pain that all of us felt on that day. Both the books show the ultimate path to healing and who we are to draw our strength from. I think this would be a good book for anyone who is trying to move past pain in their lives.

Boring, unrealistic and duplicative. My book group recommended it and I couldn't even get through it. Obvious ending, ridiculous plot. Don't bother. Read Gods in Alabama for some entertainment.

Karen Kingsbury's finest. One Tuesday Morning swept me away on a tide of emotions. Karen crafts a beautiful love story amid the horror of 911. One minute I found myself weeping and then smiling. Gut wrenching at times, this love story is told so well that I couldn't put the book down. Karen's characters are real and well fleshed out. Throughout the book God's faithfulness shines through. I highly recommend One Tuesday Morning.

"One Tuesday Morning", written by Karen Kingsbury, is an exciting book about the recent terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. This book is about two couples who live their lives differently.
Jake and Jamie Bryan are a couple who live in Manhattan. Jake is a firefighter who went to fight the fires at the World Trade Center after the plane crash. Jake is a strong believer but Jamie does not have any interest with church. They have a little girl named Sierra who loves to go to church. Eric and Laura Michaels live in San Fernando Valley. Laura goes to church but Eric is too busy to do anything with his family because of his job. They have a son named Josh. Laura and Eric were going to have a baby girl but she died. Since her death, Eric doesn't want to belive in God because he felt God took away their baby. On September 11, 2001 Eric was in New York City at the World Trade Center when the attacks happened. As a firefighter, Jake was called into the buildings after the attacks. The story continues with the events that would bring the Bryan and Michael families together. This book was very enjoyable to read because it combined drama and suspense with historical facts. The author relates how two families' lives are changed forever due to one tragic event. As you read this book, tears will be shed as you relate to how families may feel during the loss of someone very close and special. This book shows the heroism displayed by the many people affected by the September 11th tragedy. (Review Data Last Updated: 2006-07-07 15:53:55 EST)

Karen Kingsbury does an outstanding job of telling a story revolving around the events that happened on
September 11,2001. Instead of focusing on the "political" issues, she weaves a story of three families "before and after". She makes you keenly aware of the "fine line" between what is and what can be. You will hug your loved one just a bit longer and be thankful for every day that you are together. A must read!! I can truly say that this book was solely the one that turned me into an avid reader. I have read this book 4 times so far, but Kingsbury is such a powerful writer that no matter how many times I read this book, it never ceases to have an extraordinary impact on me. I highly recommend it to everyone!

I liked the lessons learned by the main character, but it was unrealistic. How can you not know your husband?

I cannot possibly recommend this novel highly enough! Kingsley's work reminds us again what it is to be human.
On the morning of 9/11 I, like the rest of the country, sat is absolute horror and shock, watching the events in NY unfold on television. I thought instantly of a dear friend who daily stopped at one of the towers for coffee and a bagel before taking the train into the city. Where was my dear friend that day? As the towers fell, I feared he was somewhere at the bottom of that smoking pile of rubble and I wouldn't get the chance to tell him one more time how very treasured his friendship is to me and how dearly I love him. The emotions of the women in this novel were so true to what I experienced for 3 days until I finally got a phone line into Brooklyn to check on my friend and heard his voice on the other end, that I cried through most of this book. I could relate to the fear of the unknown and how essential prayer and my faith was to me then and continues to be today. Thankfully my dear friend was alive and well, but for so many whose story had a different ending, the pain continues. This novel reminds us that, regardless of ethnicity or color of skin, we are all of one race -- human -- and we all bleed, laugh, cry, and love. What a spectacular novel this one is! This was the first book I've read by Ms. Kingsbury. What a treat! Her descriptive skills are incredibly polished as she describes a building imploding on itself - I'm assuming she's never experienced it first-hand! And the spiritual journey of each character is written individually yet tied together. She's one talented lady!

This is the first of Karen Kingsbury's book that I've read, and not being a real church goer I wasn't sure if the Christian emphasis would be a turn off for me, but the opposite was true!
I found it most difficult to put down. Right from the start the author took me into the lives of the 2 families, and drew me into the dreadful events of September 11th! The twist to the book was a real surprise, and I had tears running down my face at the end. I can't recommend this book more highly, and rest assured I will be looking forward to reading more of this authors novels in the future. (Review Data Last Updated: 2006-07-07 15:53:55 EST)

This book was such a therapeutic read. I cried and then cried a little more as I read the details surrounding this fictional representation centered on the events of 9-11. My heart grieved intensely for the families that experienced the loss so vividly described in this book. Not only is it impossible not to love the characters in the book, you will find yourself rooting for them and eager to find out what happens to all involved. This is a story of love and hope in the face of immense tragedy. If you pick this book up, be prepared to be immersed in it... Be prepared to cry, because it will leave you emotionally raw. I would recommend this book to anyone as an amazing read.

I have never read anything by Karen Kingsbury, but recommended this book. I was a bit skeptical because of the 9/11 tie-in. I thought it would be another round of smaltz and commercialism profiting on a tragedy.
I couldn't have been more wrong. One Tuesday Morning really moved me emotionally and spiritually. This plotline was not only realistic, it brought me cascading back to that fateful day more than two years ago. This story delicately and carefully weaves the interesection of tragedy and faith and walks the reader closely through the inner struggles of God's children and the journey of those the Holy Spirit is anxiously trying to woo. And it should motivate men to be more like Jake and abandon their tendencies to be like Eric. And what better way for God to show Eric his sin than for him to walk in another man's shoes? One Tuesday Morning handles the tragedy of 9/11 with grace and courage and delivers a moving portrait of a story that could have been and a plot line that really is. You'll be challenged spiritually and emotionally by this poignant look at a national tragedy. (Review Data Last Updated: 2005-07-23 20:45:34 EST)

It is very clear that the 9-11 tragedy was well researched. Kingsbury went into great detail about what happened and how the country was affected by the World Trade Center Bombing.
She wrote about how lives were affected by the tragedy, through Laura and Jamie, and Eric. Jamie loses her husband in the tragedy, but a look-alike of her husband ends up living with her. He has amnesia. Through him, who walks somewhat in her husband's shoes, she comes to know Christ. The only thing that I didn't like about the book was that Jamie wasn't able to figure out that the man who wasn't living with her was not her husband. That seemed a little unrealistic. You are so much in love with someone and you know them intimately, so I would think that she could have figured it out a little sooner. But the book explained that she was probably too close to the situation to see it objectively. All in all, this was a real page turner. Karen Kingsbury most certainly did not fail to deliver, as always. (Review Data Last Updated: 2005-07-23 20:45:34 EST)

Jake Bryan is a firefighter with the FDNY, the only thing he has ever wanted to do. His Christian faith gives him the strength to get through each day, both on the job and at home. His wife Jamie has run from God most of her life. After a tragic childhood, she doesn't believe God would want anything to do with her or her failures. She worries constantly about Jake and his safety. The two have a daughter, Sierra, who is the light of their lives. Jake has been praying for God to make a statement in Jamie's life to bring her to know Him.
Eric Michaels is a businessman striving for success at any cost. And his greatest cost is his family. He has slowly shut out his wife and young son. His wife is at the end of her rope. When Eric returns from his business trip to New York, she is not sure whether she can continue marriage with him or not. These men meet in the stairwell of the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. The tower collapses and only one survives, burned and suffering from amnesia. Jake's supervisor recognizes the man as Jake, but is it really him? Jamie works with him to re-gain his lost memory, and in the process learns about God and her husband through his Bible and journals. Which man survived the disaster? Can God redeem even those who seem completely lost? I was touched by this fictionalized account of the calamity that affects us all. Ms. Kingsbury states that it was her way of working through the grief, and I am glad she wrote this book. The characters are very true to life, seeking God's will as well as running from it. Eric and Jamie go through tremendous transformation as God becomes real to both of them. It would be difficult to finish this novel and remain closed about God's hand in our lives. I highly recommend ONE TUESDAY MORNING. It isn't a book that can be read all in one sitting. It takes time to experience, especially the scenes that take place on September 11. I felt as if I was right there with the characters in the book. For an emotional, yet uplifting look at God's everlasting love and mercy in our lives, ONE TUESDAY MORNING is not to be missed.
