While its title might lead one to think the info within its covers only pertains to the great State of Minnesota, its readers will be pleasantly surprised to find a rich source of very pertinent information that is richly illustrated for individuals looking to join America's rank of handgun owners. In fact, one could easily change the title to "Fundamentals on Carrying a Firearm" and eliminate all parts that reference Minnesotan policy and regulation and you have a book that can potentially be applied to all States of the Union. The book thoroughly (but not deeply) covers all areas that all newcomers to handgun ownership should become familiar with, including: safe handling, types of handguns (pistol vs. revolver) and their differences (pros and cons), some history, state of alertness (mindset) to aid in avoiding dangerous situations, proper stance and form to assist in delivering an accurate shot, use of force (pros and cons), expectations after an incident that required the use of force (legal and mental), etc. While the book touches on these subjects (snorkels vs. diving), the reader is well informed and references are provided to dig deeper on any of the subjects provided. I highly recommend this book to both newcomers and oldtimers alike.

It should be used in every state with state specific info. Otherwise it is full of excellent information and suggestions for any responsible gun owner.

The Minnesota Permit to Carry a Firearm Fundamentals is a very comprehensive tutorial on all the facets of hand gun ownership and concealed carry. I have had a CCP for many years and still learned valuable tips and information on how to improve myself. Especially helpful were the reference cards for what to say to the police after a firearm situation. Reference to handgun laws, firearm statistics, incidents and other information provided point to the necessity as well as the seriousness of carrying a firearm for protection. Shooting fundamentals, ammunition, gear and training are also covered. I wish my state had one of these. Maybe I'll make one myself.

This book is so full of information for people "new" to carrying firearms and for the seasoned carriers. Even though I am from Pennsylvania, I have suggested to other people that they must have this very informative book in their library.

I live in Oklahoma and already have my CCW permit, but I had read reviews about the Minnesota Permit Firearms Fundamentals Book. There was alot of good information for any CCW permit holder, outside of Minnesota, it's information that you can use where ever you live, good life saving information.

I live in Alabama and I thought that it was very, very informative. If you are a ccw permit holder, you will find that this book is very useful. It hits on things that I would never have considered. It covers about any topic or question that you may have about concealed carry. It will well be worth the price. I hope the author writes a book about Alabama ccw.

What a wonderful book for both the person contemplating a concealed carry permit, and persons who work with and instruct those persons. Even though the book title is Minnesota Permit, only a small part of the book is devoted to Minnesota law.
As soon as you open the cover there are small wallet sized cards with verbage for you to relate to authorities should you be involved in a confrontation. There is even a card for a lawyer who specializes in those laws. The book covers many aspects of carrying a firearm from advice on firearm selection, holsters, shooting stance, aiming, flashlight use, and proficency drills. Very good drills. It is colorful, well illistrated, and very well written. I am a NRA Certified Instructor and I reccomend this book to all my students and to the persons with whom I shoot at the range. Michael Martin and Minnesota Tactics, LLC have done the concealed carry community a great service with this book. I look forward with anticipation to a national book by that team. I bought this book before taking the class, although the book comes with the class. It allowed me time to study the material before entering the classroom. The combination of the class and the book provided me with the information and training that I would need to become a responsible, knowledgeable, and fully prepared permit holder. Carrying a firearm in public is an awesome responsibility. You may at some time in your life be forced into a situation where you will attempt to stop a violent crime from being committed, and as a result, take a person's life. But without the permit, and the legal authorization to carry a firearm, the person who loses his or her life could be your own, or the life of a loved one. I choose to not be defenseless if my life or a loved one's life is being threatened, and the Minnesota Permit To Carry course from MinnesotaTactics provided me with the tools and knowledge that will give me at least a fighting chance during such a terrible situation.
I can't say much more than what the other book reviews have already stated about this excellent book! I can only repeat the facts that it is extremely well-written, has excellent graphics and photos, and is logically laid out. This is a book that will not collect dust on my bookshelf, but will be referred to at times in order to keep the so very important information fresh in my mind. I hope to God that I will never need to use my firearm to stop a violent crime, but if I am ever confronted with such a situation, I know that I have been trained by the best, and that there is a much higher probability of it turning out well then if I had not taken the course. My hat goes off to Mike Martin for the excellent work that he did in writing this book. (Review Data Last Updated: 2009-08-03 07:01:29 EST)

As a CCW permit holder, I found this book offers some of the best information on the fundamentals of concealed carry. The book was easy to read, has good graphics and informative statistics. Though this book targets concealed carry laws that govern the state of Minnesota, I believe that very CCW class should include/offer this book to it's students as basic reference material while covering the CCW laws specific to that state. Mike, thanks for putting the time and effort into this project. Well done!

This is an excellent, well written, well illustrated guide with content suitable for those considering concealed carry and for those who already have their permit. I would recommend it even though you may not be a MN resident. The information extends past state lines.
As a Nevada resident with a concealed permit I wish this book had been available when I applied for mine. Buy it. I would be surprised if you are not as pleased as I am. (Review Data Last Updated: 2009-07-18 18:16:46 EST)

Great book on the topic of firearms ownership and responsibility, whether you have a CCW or not. And it's not just for those who live in Minnesota. Simple, easy to read, with lots of illustrations and pictures. Anyone who owns a firearm or plan on getting one should get this book.

In over 30 years of teaching, training and coaching, this is the best book I have ever seen on this topic and one of the best traing tools around. If you have any questions about firearm essentials and the permit to carry, you haven't been paying attention. I teach with a team of individuals with over 300 years of firearm experience and to a person they feel this is the best book on the topic they have ever seen. I can't wait for additional books by this author.

This book is an excellent resource for anyone with an interest in concealed carry. It is full of useful information above and beyond the MN carry laws and permit information. It covers the full spectrum from gun safety to carry options with practice drills and detailed suggestions about how to deal with ... scenarios. It is well layed out and has excellent graphics and illustrations. I highly recommend it.
