(Hide Review...)  Too Easy, mistakes in answer key
Reviewer Permalink
This is in no way a high school level book, the problems are more middle school level. Compared to other books like this, this book is too easy for anyone above the 6th grade level. It might be helpful to just have additional problems to help reinforce a topic, but this book is not very helpful at explaining much, AND I found a handful of blatant mistakes in the answer key. A parent who is not savvy enough may not catch the mistakes which would further confuse their child. I wouldn't recommend this book as a stand alone, maybe in addition to other workbooks.

(Hide Review...)  Too easy for New York City middle school students
Reviewer Permalink
I returned this book right away when I received it because the level is too easy, only suitable for kids up to 6th grade. At least, I'd say it does not match New York City's curriculum. My 8th grader son refused to do it and here is his comment: "Perhaps Prof. Fisher has greatly underestimated the American mind, at least, in my view. He claims this book to be suitable for students entering and in middle & high school. If, however, one proceeds to examine the material in this book, he would be greatly disappointed. From question observed from the 1st page (6+4+2=?) to the end (6-9=?), the average American would deem the book "an insult to an intelligent mind." while claiming to be for Middle & high school graders. My 9 year old sister breezed through the book. Even the commentary on the back of the book claims it would help a "fourth - or fifth - grader who is struggling in math". And so, from an unbiased point of view, recommend other books for middle and high school students."

I'm not saying this is not a good book, but if you plan to buy it for your middle to high school kid, this is not the right book. If you want to buy it as a review book for your 6 grader, it's is more suitable.

(Hide Review...)  Great Summer Practice
Reviewer Permalink
I am happy with this math workbook. My son likes that he only has to dedicate a small amount of time to math daily over the summer break and usually there is no argument. I recommend this book to all who want their children get ready for September!

This is a very helpful book for keeping your child or student up to date with daily review work. Each day builds on the previous days work. It is just enough work to keep concepts fresh. Could also be used over the summer to keep kids on track. Great product.

Math book very good. Has the answers in the back so you can see if you have the right answer. It also shows examples so you can see how to workout a problem. Once you review problems it doesn't stop the first part is always a review of what you did last. So it keeps you practiceing over and over again.

(Hide Review...)  Handy workbook to build those key math skills
Reviewer Permalink
It's nothing mindblowing, but for math you often need structure and practice more than anything else. A good, systematic way to build your child's math skills over the summer, or even during the school year.

This text is so well put together that teaching math seqentially is now a breeze! I wish I'd found this book a couple of years ago. Highly recommend it to those who homeschool or need to brush up on thier own math skills. No need to have a math degree to teach math. Will definitely be purchasing the next book in the series.

(Hide Review...)  Good math book, but has typo's.
Reviewer Permalink
This book is helping me getting freshed up in math but it contains a few typo's. For example, on page 7 it says there are two #5 problems. There should be obviously one problem #5 and the other is problem #6. Nevertheless, it is a good math book. I just wished it gave more examples on how to actually DO some of the work.

I loved the grade 6-8 edition of this book for reviewing math with my daughter. It is an excellent step by step approach to middle school math. This edition is the same book with very little added. It is not "high school" math. I wouldn't call it "Book Two". I was expecting something very different based on the title. Highly recommended for 6-7 grade math practice and review.
