I recently took a trip to NYC and I got this and a few other maps in advance to get to know the layout of the land. This is an excellent, detailed close-up map. It would be especially helpful for those who are moving to NYC or are there on a long trip.

If your new to visiting New York or you have been there before, this is great to have on you. I found a copy at my local library, wanted one for my trip, no one else had any in stock. Needed it in a week and Amazon delivered in two days. This is a great book, it has everything you need.

In this city, knowing EXACTLY where you're going is valuable because we are on foot most of the time: it's important to be able to plan what subway and/or bus combination it will take to get to a destination without extra walking/trudging about the city aimlessly.

Having every single major building number marked on this street atlas is also helpful as I am not the type that does the "formulas" found in the tourists' books to determine cross streets based on building numbers.

I have lived in NYC over 5 years and am astounded by the value this little book has. Buy it so you know where you're going in NYC!

I purchased this earlier this year, just prior to my trip to New York City.
It was really handy, especially considering it's size.
It's really easy to read, and it makes using the subway simple.

The street numbering is also very handy.

I bought this weeks before my vacation in NYC and it helped in my planning - AND it was invaluable during my stay. The bus maps were highly useful (tourists: take the buses, it's a great way to get from point a to point b) and having the building called out is great. The varying levels of detail are also great. I can't say enough good things about this book. Also, everyone I have shown this book to (both tourists and native New Yorkers) loves it.

As a New York City Limo Driver, this book is as valuable to me as a full tank of gas or a client that tips well.

Many times I have used "Manhattan Block by Block" to get me exactly where I'm supposed to be. The detail of building numbers, street directions and locations of pertinent landmarks is impeccable.

I can't wait for them to plot out all of the other areas that I service.

I live in Manhattan and I use this almost on a daily basis!! As a actress I need to get to some fairly obscure places and this has NEVER let me down! If you only buy one guide book to visit New York make it this one! It is an absolute necessity for navigating The Village.

(Hide Review...)  Most used map during my trip, essential for NYC tourists.

I won't lie, I was not very good at getting around in NYC. This book was the one that I turned to when I needed help. This was very detailed and a lifesaver when it came to locating landmarks. I wouldn't go to NYC without this map. The subways were so confusing I gave up on figuring them out and stuck to the streets. There's no huge fold out section, it's all done in a book format, which I loved. This is a must-have for NYC.

This is by far the most useful book I own (and I own a lot of books). I wish they had editions for the other boroughs as well! I keep this with me every time I go out, and I don't even live in New York, I just write about it.

It's well-indexed and everything is easy to find. It's compact enough to stick in your purse, ladies, or back pocket, guys. This is the best ten bucks you'll spend on a book if you ever have to do any navigating in Manhattan.

Buy it. Right now.

Alone in New York for three months with no idea where your apartment is let alone working out which direction North is when emerging from the depths of the subway - this map was a god send. Even once i had caught on to the grid system (london is much less sensible in its planning!) My head would have been spinning without it on my many errands through the back streets of Soho and Nolita. Truley fantastic, it even has some of the main addresses on it. So you are free to stroll through manhattan in complete confidence rather than staring up desparingly at the emcompassing skyscrapers with no idea what a cross street is!
