This book series is very simply written and with some grammatical errors "till" instead on until, beginning sentences with "And". However, it has been fun to read 5 of these books with my 6-7 year old son over the past month. It takes about an hour to read the whole story. He looks forward to the next story, as the story in the books are interweaved and sequentially dependent. He even wanted to peek at the end of the book to see what happened before we started reading! It is that kind of enthusiasm that encourages more reading. A few of the stories were borderline scary because the kids are held captive by a pirate, and in danger of being hurt by a sabertooth tiger etc, but these can be put into perspective if the child is ready to deal with it.

I've been struggling to find books that interest my 11 year old-delayed reader. He actually really enjoys History, so finding these books that call to his interest in history, encouraged him to zip through them, and "forced" me to buy the next 4 in the series! Thank you Magic Tree House!!

My son is in second grade but reads at a 4.1 level so I got these for him in hopes that it would spur him into a desire to read for fun...boy it worked! He read them all in 2 days and asked for more. Great content and easy flow with good plots twists and character carry-over.

My grandson loves these books. I started him on book #1 and now he is on Book #5 Night of the Ninjas. He loves the action and the characters in each book and also learns something new. Very Good Books for 7 & 8 years old.

I am a first grade teacher and I beg you to NOT get any of these books. They are a terrible example for children learning to write. One of the many strategies I teach my students to use while spelling and writing is to ask themselves, "Does it look right?" because so much of what is taught is reinforced by exposure and experience. With the MTH books being such poor examples of grammar, sentence structure, and story development, what these children are learning (or un-learning) is detrimental. What in the world were the editor and author thinking??? They should be ashamed. I came on to write an honest review because there are so many that praise this series and I am glad to see there are people who realize how important correct grammar and syntax are in children's literature. I really thought I was alone due to the bizarre popularity of these books.

MY FIRST GRADE GRANDSON LOVES READING THE CHAPTERS IN THIS SERIES. HE IS ALSO LEARNING ABOUT PLACES AND THINGS HE'S NEVER BEEN EXPOSED TO. I HAVE HIM WRITE A SHORT "REVIEW" FOR ME BEFORE I GIVE HIM THE NEXT BOXED SET. SO MUCH FUN TO SEE HIM EXPRESS HIMSELF AND TO SEE HIS EXCITEMENT WHEN HE TELLS ME WHAT JACK AND ANNIE ARE DOING.

Ordered, got the books within 4 days, and my 8yr old grandson has read all 8 books in less than a month. Now I have to order more of the series.

My 6 year old son and I love to read these books together. They are suspenseful, so they keep his attention. They are also very educational. I would recommend these books to everyone.

I bought the second set of this wonderful series for my 5-year-old grandson Otis. He LOVES these books - my daughter reads them to him each night before bed and he looks forward to the next chapter. I plan to buy the whole set.

I decided to get more books for my son to better his reading and comprehension skills, I received the books on a Saturday, 2 days after I ordered them, I was shocked that 1. I received them so timely and 2. They came on a Saturday without me have to pay extra for it! Keep it up.

I have an eight year old daughter and she loves the Magic Tree House series. They are perfect for her age and I enjoy them too.

I have a seven year old son who loves these series. The adventures of the characters have the right amount of suspense, and are not too scary for a young child. These stories have also peaked his interest in many subjects, and taught him information about topics in an entertaining way.

My Grandson loves the Magic Tree House listening library. The one DVD I bought him he had listened to it so much, he knew it word for word. I decided to buy him more as a Christmas gift. I selected the cassette by mistake but his mother has a casette player as well as a DVD player in her car so it worked out well. As soon as we get in the car he ask for his stories. Now I have to buy more for my car and home. I only have a DVD player in the car.

My 5 year old son loves these books. He is not able to read them yet but is able to listen attentively and really loves the storylines. Once we finish one, he can't wait to start the next! This is his first experience with "chapter books" and the storys are vivid enough for him to pay attention. We bought 1-4 for his birthday in September and came back to get the next 2 sets for Christmas and then start his almost 6 yr old cousin on books 1-4. Great, Great, Books!!!!

My four year old daughter loves the books. For her age group the only downside is "not enough illustrations". But that does not stop her from asking to have two chapters read to her each night.

This Magic Tree House Boxed Set has proven to be a wonderful past time for my granddaughter. She reads every evening before bed and it's a time to quiet down and prepare for sleep!! She loves her Magic Tree House books and I intend to get her the rest of the series very soon. The books are just the perfect length with lots of thrills. Your kids will love them.

I made the decision to purchase some of the books to the Magic Tree House series due to the fact I got tired of having to wait for the books to be check in at my library. I am glad I did, and so is my son. My son loved how they came in a "boxed" set.

My children have always LOVED to read, but when I purchased these for my youngest son's birthday (my boys are 6 & 7), the reaction I received after reading the first book was AMAZING! They cried when we had to stop for the night to go to bed and started begging the next morning to keep reading. These books are PERFECT for young imaginations. The Magic Tree House sure has the magical power to keep my daughter, a very active 7 year old, in her room for at least a few hours everyday. She just love these books! I will get the rest of the series for her very soon!

The Treehouse series is very good overall. We read 2-3 chapters a night as part of the bedtime routine for our 3 1/2 year old. The stories hold her interest and there are just enough illustrations to anxoiusly await the page to turn. Her vocabulary has also increased due to some less common words and names used as part of the stories.

A word of caution. The Ninja story is scary for younger children and the illustrations are frightening and creepy. We had to throw this book out in the trash.

When my 6 year old grandson opened this set of books he just squelled with joy. He could not believe he got the next set of books. His words Grandma and Grandpa I love these books.

These are great books to read with your children or to have them read to themselves when they can read. My son has loved these books since he was 3. They are chapter books that hold his attention and we learn about history besides. Money spent on books that educate and hold a younger child's attention is money well spent!

My 1st grader hates to put them down, he would rather read Magic Tree House books, than play video games. He even reads them to his class and explains the story for show and tell. When he was in kindergarten, the teacher would also let him read the Magic Tree House books out loud, not given her a break, but to promote reading out loud. Great books!

My son started this series in Kindergarten this fall and loved it so much that he asked Santa for the entire set. He got much of it for Christmas and spent most of Christmas morning looking through all the titles and putting them all in order. These books are great for the imagination!

I purchased the set as a goodie book (one book for each kid) for my son's bithday, to the children in his class and for the children who came to his birthday party. They love it and the parents appreaciate it as well.

I love the ninja book the best because they helped Jack and Annie cross the icy water. I'm 6 years old and these are the first chapter books i've read. My Mom even likes them.

I love all of the books.

Our 6 year old likes the stories, but keeps referring to the cover to try to get a picture of what is going on in the story. The various stories tie well together and help teach a bit along the way. The kids in the stories get to experience things (Dinosaurs, going to the moon etc) in way that helps with the imagination. The only caveat, there are few pictures, while this is the intent, a better job illustrating the stories would help younger readers as they transition from picture books to chapter books.

I truely value that they package these up into multipacks!!
Again 4 fun books finding JAck and Annie traveling to amazing places! Again all four books tied together with a main plot!
WHat things do I love most about MTH?
I love that the books are pretty much kept light and airly, not dragged down with too much adversity or darkness.
Passing my passion for reading and getting "lost" within a series and characters to my son!! FOr the first time he wants to go out and buy books because of what he knows he will enjoy reading in them. Not because he just knows he likes to be read too! He thinks about what books are about now and what he likes to "read". It is refreashing as a parent not to be picking out of the same stockpile of overread favorites.
He constantly WANTS to know what books are next. Where are "we" going next with Jack and Annie!! While some adults may cringe at the simplicity of the characters or plots. I have had to stop reading more then once to wait for a giggle outburst to stop. He gets their humor even if I am groaning.

The books were in excellent condition and the set was a good compliment to the first set of books in the series.

My six year old grandson was introduced to the Magic Tree House books by a kindergarten friend. Since he started the set, he has not stopped reading, either reading outloud to an adult, or silently alone. At bedtime he has declined our ritual of me reading to him . . . he reads the Magic Tree House books to me or whomever is putting him to bed. Jack and Ann's adventures are very well written, and even engaging for me. I particularly like Mary Pope Osborne's realistic style of portraying her characters: Pirates talk like pirates, etc. During this summer he has completed books 1 through 12. These books are highly recommended.

There are 4 books in this set and all the stories are varied. My 6 year old grandson really enjoyed reading them on his own and also having them read to him at bed time.

After attempting to sign out the Magic Tree House books in order from our local library without much success due to there popularity - I decided to buy them through Amazon. Purchasing the books in the box set made the price very reasonable. Our family has been spending a lot of time together reading these books and my 5 and 7 year old just can not seem to get enough of them.
