I use this book instead of the recommended text book for my pharmacology class. It's very easy to read and understand with lots of helpful tables and charts. Also, it's a small book so I actually have time to read it. Several of my classmates also bought this book as their pharmacology text. Highly recommended for board prep as well.

Overall, there are a lot of mistakes in this textbook that our professors specifically pointed out. It was annoying to find so many mistakes because it undercuts your confidence in the book itself. Further the chapters were not always organized the same and each drug could have been broken down more clearly and succinctly. There are some strengths though, it had nice pictures and side effects were labeled for many of the big drugs using helpful diagrams. I don't feel like this book worked for me because I need material that I can trust more than helpful diagrams, but everyone is different though. If the diagrams really help you sink it all in then by all means enjoy!

Lippincott's pharmacology has it all; concise and complete with illustrations and diagrams. I recommend it for a thorough review with a limitted amount of time.

The book is very easy to read. Concepts are broken down with very clear explainations. I like the study questions at end of each chapter.

I am an NP student currently taking a clinical pharmacology class. I find this book helpful, especially as a supplement to the required Katzung text. The book breaks down many of the topics covered in the text but sometimes isn't as clear as I would like. There book references other texts from Lippincott, such as Biochemistry, to explain some topics. The book helps, but in general, if you haven't had Biochemistry in a while, consider other texts.

This is the fourth pharm book I have purchased for my advanced nursing career. This is one of the best books I own. Very easy to read and the chapters are to-the-point, and not overwhelming. Enough illustrations to be helpful and not confusing. I only wish the cover was sturdier--I use it so much it is becoming a little worn; still a very well-written text.

Great reference book! Graphics are useful (especially for quick look at common adverse effects). Gives succinct description of how drugs in a class work and examples of drugs in a class.

I am currently taking pharmacology, and this book compliments the course very well. If you worried about how in-depth this book goes, don't be. Almost everything we have talked about in class has been discussed in the BRS for Pharmacology. If it wasn't, then I can consult an online book through our library or simply google a topic.

Cheap book for sufficient and effective learning.

I am using this book to study Pharm in med school. It is organized well and fairly easy to read. It also has good organizational charts and important sidelights that help you retain what's important. I'd recommend this if you are a med student who is looking for an alternative to a traditional textbook. I also recommend using flashcards as an add-on studying tool.

I like the book so far. Its is compact yet readable. If you have used Lippincott for Biochemistry this book is similar in size, and has a similar layout as the Bichem book. If you attend SMU I recommend also ordering Katzung Board review for practice questions as Dr.K and Dr.G will recommend that you purchase it.

Reviewer Permalink
it was a very good book although there are too many things that are missing. but it's good if you have to look after a drug very quickly. the drugs description is very punctual and with a brief phrase of what they do. I really like it. and the delivery was very quick. thank you for all.

This book is a good book to use when starting to learn pharmaceutical nomenclature, mechanisms, and applications. This like the Lippincott's Biochemistry; it has plenty of diagrams and charts to help with the sometimes boring material/topic. However, this book easily teaches main medications to administer.
