I am searching for a book to teach my children how to behave at tea time. I have two boys and one girl, and cannot seem to find a book that appeals to both genders. It seems tea party books and sets are marketed for girls alone. I would love to know of a book that teaches manners in a fairy tale/ story format that appeals to ALL children.

I am searching for a book to teach my children (in a relaxed and friendly manner)how to behave at tea time. I have two boys and one girl, and cannot seem to find a book that appeals to both genders. Why are tea party books and sets marketed for girls alone? I'm sure that we are not the ONLY family that wishes to celebrate tea time as a normal part of family life... meaning the ENTIRE family. I have the same issue with finding an appropriate tea set for my children... Furthermore, why seperate manner books for boys and girls??? Why do we have to perpetuate this division? I would love to know of a book that teaches manners in a fairy tale/ story format that appeals to ALL children. I find many books such as this ...that are directed AT children, yet not written FOR them. Children NEED stories that speak to their hearts and minds, that engage their imaginations, and yes... also teach.

I used to own a Tea Room and this was one of the books I sold in the gift shop. There are so many wonderful themes to choose from and "how tos" so you achieve that theme. Once you get started you'll start adding your own personal touches ... we couldn't keep this book on the shelves.
Having a Tea Party is a wonderful thing for little girls - we hosted many birthday and holiday parties for young girls in the 6-12 year old age range and this was a popular book! Jan Coad, founder/former owner of Hawthorn Tea Room, Tacoma, WA (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-03-23 06:12:02 EST)

A good book, but not as well done as some of the others.

This book has good ideas about different kinds of tea parties. But not many of them fit my daughters likes. We enjoyed it though.

What a great book for little girls!! This was exactly as described in info given by Amazon. It gives you different suggestions for tea parties, as well as ideas to get you started with your own creations. Lots of recipes and crafts, just right for little girls! Mine loved it!!!

This is an absolutely wonderful book! It has everything a child or adult would want to know about Tea Parties including child-friendly recipes and crafts. I liked it so much I kept it for myself and ordered two more for my grandaughters. Ok, so I never grew up. It's still a great book.

A nice looking little book but frankly, I should have looked at when it was first published...1997 you say ? So maybe is Emilie Barnes getting a bit 'off' the real world nowadays...It certainly is a dream book for grandmothers who wish to get invited by their grand-daughters for a tea party...surely did not ring a bell with my own (yet adorable but within her own style) daughter. For nostalgic people only.
