| Leave No Man Behind: The Saga of Combat Search and Rescue | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
A thorough history of combat search and rescue (CSAR) from World War II to our day, highlighting the individual exploits of heroes who have risked all to leave no man behind, this book is also a comprehensive account of how the discipline of CSAR was created and how, despite its repeated successes, it suffers administrative neglect and attrition after virtually every conflict. A thrilling, ongoing story of true life-and-death adventures, Leave No Man Behind is at once a military saga for all time and a cautionary tale for those who make plans and policies where soldiers’ survival is at stake. |

This is an extremely detailed collection of data that chronicles the history of Search and Rescue units. If you are into that sort of thing, then this is the #1 book to get. The author put a lot of hard work into getting the story right.

I was expecting more of a book on the PJ himself, and the training routine, like found in None Braver, so it was not what I was looking for. It was EXHAUSTIVELY researched and documented and has to be the most detailed account of air rescue services ever written or likely to ever be written. Goes beyond USAF to include USN and USMC as well. If you want a detailed history of all aspect of air rescue, this book rates a six out of five. But for PJ stories, there are better books.

A very thorough book and one that covers the complete arena of Combat Search and Rescue. The research and stories that are included will assist both military and none military readers to understand the intense feeling and actions that are involved during a rescue attempt, whether it is successful or not.
The authors know how to pull the reader into the environment and keep them involved in the book. Good read...... (Review Data Last Updated: 2009-08-03 01:53:16 EST)
