I eagerly awaited every book in the "Left Behind" series, and read every one on the edge of my seat. The final installation, "Kingdom Come", left me disappointed. The book was boring, and the end was hurried. I don't feel like it was even written by the same authors or part of the same story as the rest of the series. I expected it to be as thrilling and climactic as th others, but was let down.

This is the last book in the Left Behind series of books. It is really well written and is a great read. All the books in the series except The Glorious Appearing (the next to the last book in the series) and this one I would give a five star rating. Something happens in the book before these two that I didn't like. So the rating is purely subjective. Actually all the books are great and each one is more thilling and more frightening than the next.

Great finale to the entire series. I read all 12. This was awesome. I didn't want it to end. I wish there were more books like this available.

This book is a real page turner...difficult to put down. Last is the Left Behind Series...truly tops it all off!! If you are not committed to Jesus Christ after reading this, well, I don't know what would make you a believer. Just reafirmed my beliefs! The writers have done a truly wonderful job of explaining the proficies of the Bible and of Revelations. All is clear....what will happen to man. A must read!

It seems that this book was written to milk some money out of us! Too bad but it seems the authors fell into the money trap with this one. What a waste of money.

This was a most difficult story to write because where the other stories in the "Left Behind" series had a biblical format to follow, there is very little in the bible concerning the millenial kingdom which meant most had to come from the imagination of the author which leaves it open to a lot of critical response. This is one man's thoughts on this great time in human history yet to come.

It's scary that people take this seriously. Jesus said he'd return within the lifetimes of his disciples and audience. He didn't. It's over. Move on.
As fantasy, it's decent enough. As theology, something to believe in or something to base your life on, it's little more than a red herring. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-04-07 06:06:50 EST)

DO NOT GET THIS BOOK!! I was so totally disappointed that I wanted to throw it out. I wasted $35 on this. The other books were, for the most part, great. this one totally disengaged and was nothing like the rest. This, in my opinion, was clearly a ploy to make some more money off the franchise. It wasn't written well and the plot was all over the place. Things were going on that didn't make any sense. A lot of the book was Bible stories, in there entirity it seemed, re-told by the profits and the saints. I have a Bible and I can read the story of Noah and the Ark in that.
They tried to cover a thousand years in one book. Not a good idea. All in all, not worth even reading. Many characters were completely left out, not good either. You're better off reading the Glorious Appearing and leaving that as the last of the series. If not, prepare for annoyance and disappointment. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-03-06 05:54:11 EST)

I have read the entire Left Behind series and the prequel "The Rapture" So when I found out that this final book in the series had been released, I was very anxious to get a copy. A friend gave me a Barnes and Noble book card as a late Christmas gift, and this is one of the books I bought. I was debating between two different books, and I finally decided to purchase this one. I have really enjoyed reading the other books in the series, and had high expecations for this book as well. But quite frankly, this book fell far short of my expections.
Just for the record, yes, I am a born again believe. And no, I do not agree with every single thing in the Left Behind series. I believe the Bible. On the one hand, I think it's important that people remember these books are fiction. They are not and have never claimed to be non fiction. But at the same time, fiction is a very powerful and effective tool. It can be used to communicate truth. But it can also do great harm. The Left behind books, for the most part, are action packed and keep you on the edge of your seat. You really come to care what happens to the characters. While I firmly believe that the End Times prophesies of Scripture will come to pass, I think it is the heighth of foolishness to try to argue how exactly things will come to pass. God seldom, if ever, does things they way we expect Him to. Jesus made it clear that is equally foolish to try to predict a specific date or year when the end of the world will occur. There are some things that are just not for us to know ahead of time. I mean, look at all the prophesies about the Messiah that were filled in Jesus Christ. Jesus was not at all what people expected the Messiah to be. I think the same thing will happen as End Time Events begin to unfold. I believe that a good rule of thumb is to live like the End of the World will happen in your lifetime, but plan like it won't happen in your life time. I cringe when I hear stories about people who have basically given up on life because they believe the End of the World is emminent. Oh....now, my review of the book. I honestly wish there was something positive I could say about "Kingdom Come" but I honestly can't think of a single positive thing to write. This book was a major disappointment. This book never really captured my interest. I basically had to force myself to keep reading. There were many times where I would just toss it aside, and not pick it up for several days. This book was very slow going for me. It also left a bad taste in my mouth for several reasons. First, I was excited when I read that Noah, Joshua and Caleb, and David were going to tell their stories. I was really excited to read those parts. But again, I was disappointed. I thought the stories didn't really add much to the account of Scripture. In fact, why read the stories in a book like this, when you read the story in Scripture. It just seems like authors were grasping at straws. Second, I was also greatly disturbed by the authors' claim that Jesus will re-instate the old system of sacrifices in the Millenial Kingdom. That has absolutely no basis in Scripture whatsoever. In fact, Jesus made it clear that He came to fulfill the Law. The Law was simply a interim system for until the Messiah came. Which He did. In the person of Jesus Christ. To me, it seems like the idea that the old system will be reinstated is like saying that Jesus' sacrifice on the Cross was insufficent. What purpose could their possibly be for the ressurection of the Law? I was also disturbed by the character of Quasim. After all, Bruce, Buck, Chloe, Ray and the other members of the Tribulation Force had the discernment to recognize Nicholae Carpathia as the AntiChrist. But they couldn't see through the facade of someone pretending to be a believer? I find that really hard to believe. I also have a problem with the idea that all unbelievers will only live to be 100. The verse from Scripture they use to support this idea is clearly taken out of context. I think it is a very dangerous thing to build a theology based only on 2 or two verses. Like it or not, in the life, we are never going to fully understand either God or the Bible. God will bust out of any box we try to put Him in. I loved the book the "Glorious Appearing" In my opinion, this book should never have been written. The authors should have quit while they were ahead. I echo the advice of a earlier reviewer. If you are a fan of the Left Behind Series and have been wanting to this read this book....don't. I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone. I wish that I had spent my gift money on another book. This isn't so much a review of in-depth thought; it's just a few impressions.
I read this book on a flight back from Sweden, and it was pretty interesting for the first few pages. I didn't necessarily agree with the theology, but it was interesting nonetheless. Then the first death happens and things get very interesting; girl dies, people realize that there is still deception and evil in the world, even without satan, and then, ultimately, the interest lessens. This is due mainly to the fact the book's main conflict centers on a friggin' daycare. A good (not great, but good) prequel trilogy about the upheaval of world government, rise of antichrist and subsequent rapture. One awesome book about being 'LEFT BEHIND'. Nine entertaining books about the struggles of living during the tribulation. Two more really cool books about the war of war of Armageddon and return of Christ. And then this flat, missed oppurtunity. Don't get me wrong, the book touches goodness a few times throughout. There are some really moving scenes with Abdullah. Other than that, though, the book SCREAMS boredom, which is funny because LaHaye's theology dictates that Jenkins has to envision the most boring and unexciting vision of post-Christ world that I think anyone could ever imagine. It felt like an insult, as a Christian, to read this. Then again, why write a book without much conflict? Well, they try. Try is the key word here, because the central villains are some illogical atheists in France (who attempt to overthrow a government that is run by the well-established and pretty well-known, invincible, undefeatable Lord Jesus.. it's stupid) and this punk kid named Qasim, who is even more of an insult to those people who read the ENTIRE series, in order, every one of them (including the prequels). To go from the smarmy and over-the-top Nicolae, who would gladly drop the blade of the neck of his mother and bite out the eyes of children and animals, to this new little turd of a teenage punk, it was just such a step down. ANOTHER complaint... and it kind of ties into the Qasim complaint... is that this book leads up to the FINAL final battle, against the lord of pain, the man of the evil hour, the host with the horrible most, the satanman. And well, I'm sure someone's already spoiled it for you, but if not, let's just say that I almost forgot about him by the time I got to his part. Details below: SPOILER ALERT Satan, master of evil, is written pretty well for the short time he's in here, and Jenkins is great at building up the conflict against... oh, wait, maybe I should have stated, REALLY REAAALLLY short time that he's in the book... Did you see the subject heading? Jerry Jenkins = Tool of LaHaye and master of missed oppurtunities. I've forgiven Jenkins before for skimming over the most hotly anticipated parts of his novels, but this.. this is unforgivable. Basically, we spend over 300 pages wondering whether or not some kids in a daycare are going to be compromised by some insecure little tool named Qasim, who's more upset about not getting the booty of the hot Christian Greek girl than he is about anything else, and darn it, he's out for vengeance! A whole series of subversion, explosions, spirit warfare, angels, demons, techno-gadgetry, crumbling buildings, rivers of blood and really technical explanations of how to escape disaster in Chicago allllll leads to a compromised daycare. By God, it's epic. So after we trudge all that high school melodrama (which is really all this book is), we FINALLY get to the main event of the entire series: Jesus v. Satan. And in typical Jenkins style, he takes a steaming dump all over the opportunity to give us something special. It sucks; and what sucks even worse is that I read these books all over again when I heard that a new final novel was coming out. Needless to say, I wasn't happy with the outcome. I mean, you can kind of pretend that the ending of the book (and series) is good if you read it slow, I mean, really slow; which you will need to since it's over faster than the Rapture. I can understand that it's deliberate in its brevity since they are fighting the human form of God and all, but come on.. they could have tried harder. This epic series has an end so abrupt it's insane. They had a goldmine of conflict for this book, and they chose to focus elsewhere. Epic fail. Plus, when you take into account the 100 year death thing for the unbelievers, well, the retardation increases. What's the point of conflict when the unbelievers die out so quickly? And if they die so quickly, then just how the heck did such a massive army (in the multimillions, people) assimilate at the end? It makes no logical sense. What were they thinking??? So, now that I've read the whole series, I can try to give you an idea of how they ranked with me. Opinions will no doubt differ, but nonetheless, here it is. BEST Left Behind LB1 Armageddon LB11 Desecration LB9 Nicolae LB3 Glorious Appearing LB12 Appollyon LB5 The Regime P2 The Rising P1 Tribulation Force LB2 Assassins LB6 The Rapture P3 Soul Harvest LB4 ------------ The Remnant LB10 The Indwelling LB7 The Mark LB8 Kingdom Come FINAL WORST How about that?, haha. My final thought: if you want to read the series, go for it - it's good stuff. However, when the war in 'Glorious Appearing' is over, skip the whole friggin ending. Then, pick up 'Kingdom Come' and start reading around the third-to-last chapter, basically when the war with satan starts. There you go. Much better! All the confusing and stupidly drawn-out contrivances are skipped and you get to the good stuff. Then, if you dare, you can go back and read the deleted scenes, haha. Still, the book wasn't so bad that it ruined the series. Like I said, it's just a missed oppurtunity. Alright, thanks for reading! (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-02-12 05:56:59 EST)

I am loving this book. I am not finished reading it, but I was thrilled to find it. I really do love the characters and unlike other reviewers, I don't find the characters weak, just more mature and relaxed. Here they are living with Jesus on earth...almost paradise. As children are born to the believers who were left after the Glorious Appearing, they have to make a choice of whether to follow Jesus or the other light. There is definitely a conflict there and it's building up to this battle in the end. Unlike others, I loved the idea that the actual people who were in the Bible like Noah and Joshua and Caleb were the ones retelling their stories. It was not boring and I have to admit, it gave me pause to look at things from a perspective I had not before.
**For example, we have read about the lives of the Old Testament heros and their stories and their obedience to God, but still there are those of us that still don't accept the Lord as their Saviour. Okay. Just imagine, the people who were not raptured and made it through the tribulation, and after becoming believers, the judgment of God and for a time were the only ones left on Earth for Jesus' millenial reign. No one but believers were left! Okay. Then as children were born, some of them chose not to follow their parents, but to turn away from God, even though they heard from their parents of all the miraculous things that God did for them. All through the book I could not believe that these "children" were turning against God, even though they knew what He did for their parents and their parent's parents and each generation that followed through the millenium. Then it struck me!!! We living now are like those "children"! How do we not accept God and Jesus Christ as Saviour knowing all we know from not only the Old Testament, but the New Testament! The choice is yours, but how can you not choose Christ! Back to the book, I do wish some of the other characters who gave their lives along the way were mentioned more than once, but it does not take away a thing from this book. As with the rest of the books in the series, it is written very simply and plainly and is easy to understand. I can't wait to finish it. ***Update*** I just finished the book and it is awesome. I must have cried almost the last third of the book. Even though it is fiction, it is based on the Holy Bible and it evidenced once again how great the Lord our God is and how He loves us and wants that none should perish! I urge you if you are not a believer, that you ask God to come into your life and forgive your sins. He loves you no matter what you have done in the past, to Him you are His own. Don't get left behind. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-02-02 06:01:49 EST)

As the last book in the series of Left Behind books, I was really disappointed. Biblical references abound, which is great, but the book did not hold my interst at all. Many times it was days before I would pick the book back up, not like all the other times, when I could barely pull myself away. If your looking for biblical references then this book is right up your alley, but if your looking for something more, you may be disappointed like I was.

I took time out of my life to read the entire LB series, to see what the fuss was a about. The "if your not with us your against us" mentality of this stuff is amazing. I was raised mainline protestant. While these barking moonbats are entitled to their belief it is good apocalytic fantasy. End Times? who knows. I don't think it'll be like they are preaching.

I am about halfway through this book and must say that I'm disappointed in this effort by LaHaye and Jenkins. I started reading this series at about the time The Mark came out but in a matter of a couple of months I caught up reading each book quickly. The earlier books kept me glued and I would be reading every chance I got including at work during my breaks. And even though I'm moving through this book rather quickly, I don't find myself hanging on every page. So far, at least 60% is nothing but the Bible stories we all know and love. Why the authors chose to go this road is beyond me. It's almost like they just wanted to get this book and series over and done with and, dare I say, the effort seems as though they are bored with the whole thing. I hope things pick up in the 2nd half but I fear that I'll have to trudge though more fluff before the plot begins to take shape.
Another disappointment is the omission of several key characters from the previous volumes. I won't spoil that, just know that some of your favorite characters are not in this book at least no so far. Oh, the main charactes are there such as the entire Steele family, but there are some who didn't make the cut. Anyway, I give this book 3 out of 5. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-01-11 06:23:09 EST)

I don't care how the "Left Behind" series books end it will still leave you wanting more. The authors did the best they could to find an "End" to this series but with how loyal readers feel about these books I don't think it is possible to have an ending that makes us happy. I enjoyed this book very much.

Keeping in line with the rest of the Left Behind series, Kingdom Come brings hope and glory for the future and brilliantly helps the reader to visualize what may come.

When the Left Behind series began it was fun to read. The plots were predictable but still able to hold the readers attention. As the volumes increased, it became clear that LaHaye/Jenkins were just cashing in on early success by slowing the pace thus increasing the number of books to be read to reach the final piece of the saga.
I read Kingdom Come out of a sense of obligation. Having read the previous fifteen volumes I wanted to finish the series. The storyline is just plain dull. Jenkins spent more time copying verses from the Bible than in original writing. What was original is an insult to readers. He offers us regurgitated ideas (i.e the Millennium Force) in a plot that is childish and incomplete. Kingdom Come proves that suckers are born every minute. Anyone purchasing this book needs their head examined. In two years they will offer us a volume describing events a million years into eternity, please ignore them when they do. The thousand year reign where Jesus sets up his kingdom on earth has begun. However all is not well in paradise. There is still one more battle to be fought, when Satan still tries one last time to take control of those who still not believe. As recent believers and those from biblical times mingle, plans are being made to undergo the last battle that Earth will ever see.
I had mixed feelings while reading this book. I was excited to read it since it would be the end of the series and all loose ends would be tied up. Also it was nice to see Buck and Chloe and the others again alive and well. It was cool to see David and Noah meeting with the kids to tell them first hand all the stories you knew while growing up. The end battle was pretty awesome too. However, there were several things I just didn't understand about the book. Why did only certain Bible characters show up to make cameos? If I were up in heaven I'd like to meet everyone who's mentioned, not just the big names. And why are only Bible characters mentioned? What about all the Christians who have made an impact throughout the centuries? And the biggest thing I didn't understand was why there was no mention of the rest of the Tribulation gang other than the key leaders? It was like they disappeared off the face of the earth, literally. I also didn't feel like the characters were developed as they had been in the rest of the series. While Kenny's and Raymie's (I did wish they would stop calling him that as he was an adult throughout the book) stories were interesting, I still saw them as kids. I wanted to know more about Buck, Chloe and everyone else. Honestly I'm glad the series is over. I did enjoy learning more about end days and the storyline was really good at first with engaging characters and suspenseful scenes. However, I felt it could have ended with book 12 and that the prequels and this last book were not really needed. I was scared when I was reading the original series that the Rapture would actually come when I finished the last book. Well as you can tell I'm still here. :) (Review Data Last Updated: 2007-11-27 08:19:21 EST)

To all those who revel in the gory glory of this set of books, I issue you a challenge: Tell any of your children at a young age about the book of Revelation. Tell them about the moon turning to blood, stars falling out of the skies, men with locust heads, rivers and streams coagulating with blood, the screaming inferno and tortures to come. Tell them men and women are going to plead to die but God won't let them. Just a sampling. There's plenty more in that book of the Bible.
Forget Sunday school platitudes. Forget "Jesus loves me this I know..." No, tell them what you believe is the honest truth about God almighty. Tell them that these are the plans their Heavenly Father has had for the world since the beginning of time. Don't cotton candy it. Jesus and His love pales in comparison to the way God is going to destroy and torture the world. If you are intellectually honest, you would raise them on Revelation before you ever said a word about Jesus Christ. They first need to be made afraid of the forthcoming wrath. Nothing is more important than making sure they don't get a foot in hell, isn't it? No more pictures of the loving shepherd, the kind and gentle Jesus. Tell them this first. Tell them this often. Tell them this because this is what you say you know is going to happen. Tell them about the glorious end of the world and the Four Horseman riding with swords of death, famine, disease, and pestilence. Tell them this because nothing less than their everlasting souls hang in the balance. As a mainline Christian, I am disgusted by work like this, but I also feel we are responsible in a way. We left to the fringe elements-television preachers with limited education and massive ambition, to corrupt the entire field of theological ideas while we were sitting on our blessed behinds saying, "Surely, people won't really believe this stuff, will they?" Well, they have and they do. Literally. As for thinking Christians, it is time to unite together to reclaim our faith from what the Religious Right has done and is doing in the name of God. To all those who revel in the gory glory of this set of books, I issue you a challenge: Tell any of your children at a young age about the book of Revelation. Tell them about the moon turning to blood, stars falling out of the skies, men with locust heads, the screaming inferno and tortures to come.
This was an absolutely amazing series. This book was great too, I was only slightly disappointed at the end. It ends pretty abruptly, which I wasn't expecting or ready for.
With so much build up I was waiting for a better release than that. But it is still an essential read, especially if you love the Left Behind series! (Review Data Last Updated: 2007-11-05 21:22:26 EST)

When I saw an additional Left Behind novel had been added, I could hardly wait to read it...many of the others have been devoured in one day as I just couldn't put them down. This one started very slowly, with a lot of Bible-speak and not much action with the characters, who are now either pretty old or in the prime of their lives in their glorified bodies. I was beginning to wonder if I'd even bother finishing it when the story line picked up with the usual intrigue coupled with the authors' view of what the end of Revelation will look like. In the end, it doesn't disappoint!

The Left Behind series was truly sensational, but the Final Book Kingdom Come let me down. There was no meat to the characters and the plot sort of fell on its face. There were some good parts to the book, and it does complete the collection...or does it???? They seem to be able to bring up one more book.
