My daughter is fifteen years old and scared to death of writing her SAT essay - even though people say she is an excellent writer! This prep book actually has cartoons that are funny. And the authors are pretty amusing considering the subject matter. But the good news is that the content has the potential to help you score higher on the writing section. The tips made me think about different ways to approach the writing prompts. As they say, you have to be unafraid to "Take the Shot." No mooncalfing. No lollydolling. Save that for your sweetheart. Buy this book now.

I was impressed by the customer reviews until I saw the 1-star review. Just for fun, i looked this book up on barnes and nobles and it turns out that there's the SAME EXACT review on their site as the 5-star review that shows up first on amazon. PLUS theyre all from California...and they all review this book series. They probably asked all their loser freinds to give them good rating. How lame. Now i really wont buy this book, even if it's actually good.

I ALMOST bought this book until I read all the reviews for it on this site and noticed that they were ALL FAKE.

What was the motive for lying about my reviewers? This reviewer never read the book. One of two reasons seems plausible. Either the reviewer is the author of another book on the SAT Essay or does not realize that the other seventeen comments were written by parents and students from all across the country. Clearly, they were not fake.

The key principles and strategies are really helpful. You will miss some good points if you miss this book.

I bought this book about a week before i took the SAT. It was enjoyable, with some puns and jokes, so not completely boring. It did have some good, easy tips for improving your essay. I guess you have to be real enthusiastic on improving your score to really remember them all because I for sure wasn't.

They are all 5 star, from people whose only other reviews (very few, too) are SAT related, and those other reviews mention this book in them in a positive way. BS. I'm definitely not buying this book.

This book has a good sense of humor. It acts as a great essay coach. Reading this book is easy, and you can definitely improve on writing.

I really like this book. I would read this book before I go to sleep, and i would learn a lot of great things. I recommend this book to anybody who wants to get a great score on the sat essay.

My son liked it, he is 15, does not like to study SAT much, but he finds this book every day a little bit of study, very useful, the techniques are very useful for him

When I recieved the book, I felt like the book was too small to contain so much information. But now I feel like I've accomplished a lot!
The book is very helpful in every espect and it doesn't JUST help in SATs but also in writing an essay in high school.

This has great tips on how to write an SAT essay. All you have to do is apply them!

I, being a normal adolescent, tend to procrastinate. As the SAT was looming over me and steadily approaching in a week's time, I quickly searched for a quick and easy lifesaver and chose this book. 3 days before the big day, I scoured the contents and followed the tips. The result? A perfect score on the essay (which is odd considering I'm a terrible writer--thus I attribute my good grade to this book.)

Now this isn't the "end all be all" to SAT essay books, but you do have to realize no book can really "teach" people how to write. Good writing comes from a combination of guidelines and tips (which this book provides), reading what the graders are looking for and "good" essays (which this book provides), and most importantly, practice (which only you can provide).

I decided to get this book which I saw at a store and it was a lot smaller, and easier too read than most other SAT books. When I got my score back, it was 30 points under perfect. This is the best SAT help out there, and I reccomend it 100 percent. This book is exceptional.

I had the pleasure of reading Mr. McCutcheon's new SAT book. It helped me immensely! I particularly needed help on the Essay portion. I followed the format that was outlined, and lo and behold I scored perfect on the Essay! This book is a must for all students!

Not only did this book help me improve my SAT essay but also provided material that has helped me in my writing for school projects.

I paid more than $800 to attend a Kaplan course to prepare for the SAT and PSAT and I came out of it feeling like I had wasted my money. For any sane student who has more to do than flip through thousands of pages of nonsense this is the book for you. At first I felt that preparing for the SAT would be more difficult, but if you follow what the authors tell you, you will see almost immediate progress. For a money conscious person like me, I especially enjoy the multiple applications of this book, which means that it won't be sitting on the shelf after I get into college. I will definately use this book to help me in my writing in the future. A reasonable study program that won't bore you to death, What more can anyone ask?
