Although there was a little of version upgrade after 4.0B, versions do not matter much because whichever version you use, you can still figure out the changes and you can always find the screens and tabs since the transaction codes doesn't chang much.
I think this book still gives comprehensive knowledge about core functionality of R/3 Sales and Distribution module.

Whether you are new or already working with SD, this book is immensely helpful. Lately I saw that the author is coming up with the new updated version based on ECC 6.0. Still it will always be a handbook for any SD consultants.

This is the best book to have the glimpse of SD, in some cases detailed too. But once you are into SD, there is hardly any thing new that you can know from this book.
The author presents the concepts in a clear crispy way so that one can understand easily with less Business background.

I suggest this book if you want to start learning a topic but not to master it.

I can rate it 5 * for an SD Novice but a single * for whom who knew the concepts.

I found hard to find a good book on SAP R3 Sales and Distribution area. I am very satisfied with the contents of this book ; despite this, I would have liked to get also the prospective of the end user as I this book does not cover some -maybe too detailed- aspects of the day to day support work. I guess this was not part of the scope of the book

I have used this book over and over as a reference and it is pretty well written and covers all the major topics. You should use this in conjunction with SAP help. This book will give you basic introduction to all topics under SD and it does a pretty decent job of teaching you SD config in SAP. I am an SD functional lead and I recommend this book to all my new team members..

This is excellent book and i am very impressed with it's contents, language and quality.

Well i am have been working with SAP for last 8 years as a Abap/EDI/ALE resource and decided to take make a shift to functioal side.

Started with reading SAP implementation guide and SAP library, also found couple of intresting sites. But the best thing which happened to me was purchasing this book.
This book is very well organised and contains all the basic functionality in SD module with some real time examples. It explains both the SD business process flow and more importantly the configuration.

I would highly recommend this book.

The Chapters are really good and easily understandable. Point to be highlighted here is that the author has explained examples with SAP GUI Screen Shots.

A great work done indeed. Hats off to Mr. Glynn. C. Williams for bringing out such a good book.

I would appreciate if the author could come out with similar books in other modules too.

I've been an SD functional consultant since 1993 and have recently started working on a very small project as the only SD consultant. Even though I've configured most aspects of SD, I haven't done it all, nor have I done it alone. Since I'm an independent consultant, this book has helped me to get a grasp of all that I need to do and what questions I need to pose to the client. This is the best SD book that I've seen - a definite keeper in my library.

(Hide Review...)  First class guide to implementing SAP R/3 SD
Reviewer Permalink
This book is a First Class Guide in implementing the Sales and Distribution Module of SAP. This book is clear and concise. Covering topics from Organizational data to Pricing even LIS (Logistics Information System).

I have not seen a book which can compete in presenting data, whilst it may not be pretty, the flow charts could look smarter, however the data is clear and understandable. It also has hundreds of screen shots which present the multiple steps in a implementation clearly.

If you are in SD, or would like to know more about the nuts and bolts of the SD module of SAP. This book is recommended.

Enjoy it.

IF THERE WERE ANY LOWER NUMBER OF STARS THAN ONE, I WOULD HAVE RATED THIS BOOK SUCH. IT TRULY SUCKED, & I TOOK IT BACK TO THE STORE FOR A FULL REFUND. THE GRAPHS WERE AWFUL, THE CONTENT WENT ON AD INFINITUM, LEAVING THE READER CLUELESS AS TO WHY THIS AUTHOR EVER DECIDED TO BECOME AN AUTHOR? THERE WERE NO CASE STUDIES, OR ANYTHING REGARDING A GRASS ROOTS APPROACH TO THE IMPLIMENTATION PROCESS. IT WAS TERRIBLE!!!

(Hide Review...)  Good book to start configuring SAP-SD.
Reviewer Permalink
This book is a good start for someone who wants to use SAP-SD module.

It is good for implementing SD, but lacks issues relating to specific issues (like warehousing, bar coding interfaces).

Otherwise it is a good reference book for both consultants and end-users alike.

(Hide Review...)  Excellent content, misleading cover
Reviewer Permalink
I can reiterate what the other reviewers have said of this book: It has excellent content, and it tremendously useful to those who want to configure and/or learn more about the SAP R/3 sales and distribution module. I would have liked to see something on serial numbers and also quality management as it relates to SD, but these are nitpicks. From what I could tell, the core R/3 SD functionality is handled well and with great detail.

The cover of the book, on the other hand (over which the author probably has no control) contains a significantly misleading statement. It states that the book "Covers R/3 4.6". This is not true. The book is written primarily with reference to R/3 version 4.0B, with occasional mention of what might be coming in version 4.5. Anyone with some knowledge of R/3 who skims the book will immediately see the misleading nature of the cover. However, someone purchasing on the web, and seeing only the cover statement, will be in for a surprise when the book arrives.

In view of the excellent core content of the book, I would urge the author to update the book for version 4.6 (there are significant changes relative to version 4.0), and also include information on linking the core R/3 SD module with web functionality. Now that would be a 5 star book!

(Hide Review...)  Only book on SAP S & D with customising details
Reviewer Permalink
I have been searching for a book that does not just describe different business process (that is is important too) and then leave you with a few directions where you might have to customise something. This is the only book sofar than can fairly claim to tell you how to customise. I would have given it 5 stars, but due to lack of competition, I felt 4 was enough.

It didn't help me much with the SD bits with which I'm very familiar. But there is still quite a bit where I have never done more than superficial work and this book covers it all in useful detail.

If you want to know how to design business process from scratch, turn to other books. If you want to know how to implement your plan, there is no alternative: TINA. Still, I have not given up hope that something better will come along in the next 6 to 12 months, until then: TINA.

(Hide Review...)  DETAILS! Screen Shots, Menu Paths, Configuration Tips
Reviewer Permalink
I own a lot of SAP books, 8 or more, and I've thumbed through a couple dozen more on store shelves. Most of them are lacking in detail, and are just re-arrangements of SAP help. I couldn't believe the detail this book has: screen shots (very rare in most books), menu paths (even rarer), and configuration tips the author says he learned "the hard way" over several implementations. Having been involved with two SAP instances myself, I believe he knows what he is talking about. This guy KNOWS his stuff. He specifically details where and how to customize SAP SD through the IMG and master data. I've NEVER seen an SAP book with this much relevant and useful information. If I could have given it 6 or 7 stars I would have. Worth twice the price.

(Hide Review...)  Clear and concise approach to SD customizing.
Reviewer Permalink
This book gives a clear, concise and no-nonsense approach to customising the SD module in SAP R/3.

All the areas of SD are covered. What is most useful is that the customising is explained - rather than focusing exclusively on what SAP SD is and can do which other SD books have done, this book also shows you what must be done and customised and how to do it to use the functionality that is available. I think this is most useful.

Especially helpful are the tips and notes which give useful advice, warnings and time-saving OSS notes.

As an experienced SD consultant, I found this book a useful, comprehensive and concise record of SD customising. New users will find it an invaluable source of knowledge, understanding and experience.
