(Hide Review...)  Great Book For Anyone With Questions or Concerns!

This book is fabulous. If you are reading this book, then obviously you must have some questions in this area. You've come to the right place (or book rather!). Being a patient of Dr. Silber's I can say that reading this book is like having the doctor talk to you live. It is like having him talk to you face to face. Answers to all your questions are inside his book, and if you are reading it for reasons of infertility, you will relate to this book 100%. I highly recommend this book to anyone being faced with fertility issues.

This is a very interesting book which is suitable for the general reader, however, as a medical specialist I also enjoyed reading it.

I found this book to be very detailed and informative. It really answered a lot of questions, so I wasn't calling my doctor every 10 minutes.

This book is excellent. I am a physician specializing in infertility. I have been recommending Dr Silber's earlier books to my patients for many years. This new edition has been thoroughly updated with many new sections. It covers all aspects of infertility; causes, issues and treatment options. It is written in a clear easy-to-read style for a general readership, yet remains medically and scientifically accurate. A great resource.

I enjoyed reading this book. It was the most informative book I've read on fertility issues. I now understand more about every aspect of getting pregnant. It has made me a believer that I too will one day be able to get pregnant, either naturally or by becoming a patient of Dr. Silber.

This book gives chapter after chapter of information about infertility issues. This book really helped me understand and break down all the information about infertility and the procedures available. It flows very well and that makes it easy to read and comprehend. I highly recommend this book and believe you will learn more than you think!

(Hide Review...)  Silber needs to update his thinking!!

This is what Sherman J. Silber, M.D., writes in his "completely revised and updated" book How to Get Pregnant. "The biggest fear of most pregnant women is that their child will be abnormal, and the most common abnormality they worry about is Down syndrome. . . . These children are severely retarded mentally, and they usually die before their thirtieth birthday."

However according to the March of Dimes - Most of the health problems associated with Down syndrome can be treated, and life expectancy is now about 55 years

He also writes: "We can prevent couples from having to face the horror of giving birth to children with otherwise devastating genetic defects such as Down syndrome, cystic fibrosis, muscular dystrophy, mental retardation, etc., that terrify every woman who ever gets pregnant."

The National Institute of Health reports that most people with Down syndrome have IQs that fall in the mild to moderate range of retardation. Some are so mildly affected that they live independently and are gainfully employed

And giving birth to a child with Down syndrome or cystic fibrosis or muscular dystrophy or mental retardation is not a "horror." As a mother of a child with Down Syndrome, I was HORRIFIED to read Silber's thoughts on this. I had heard many great things about the man, his clinic, and his work in the field of infertility - but personally, He could be the last fertility doctor in the world and I would not recommend him to my worst enemy.

I had several questions regarding IVF and this book was very helpful in answering my questions. The success stories are amazing and motivational. This book also gave me the most current procedures available that I would have not known about otherwise. This book is worth every penny...you will not be disappointed!!

When reading this book I felt that Dr. Silber was talking directly to me. In a patient and non condesending manor he brought a lot of clarity to some fuzzy concepts that I had. Imagine a medical book that is easy to understand!!! Thank you Dr. Silber for sharing your years of experience and study with us.

I have to disagree with some of the poor reviews. After trying to get pregnant for 2 years, I got this book and began following some of Dr. Silber's advice, on my own thought I had figured out what my problem was after charting my temperature and reading the chapter on that, and sure enough went to the Dr who diagnosed the problem I suspected I was having. I was started on Clomid and was pregnant a few months later!

This book was the most accurate of the 3 I read. The most important information dealt with exact timing of intercourse (or IUIs) in order to conceive. Some of the information I had earlier was wrong, which actually could have prevented conception!

This book answered questions I didn't know I had about getting pregnant, differing cycle problems and just all the amazing things that have to work together for a successful pregnancy and birth. I found answers on how avoid repeat miscarriages, and details on different procedures, medications and tests to determine probable causes of infertility. This book truly answers most all questions any couple could have on delivering a beautiful little baby.
