The answers on the back are really poor at answering the questions on the front; they just lead one to ask more questions. You never get the oh yeah, I knew that. If you've read and reviewed, "The PMP Exam: How to Pass On Your First Try" (I'd say 4-5 times) and taken a couple practice tests, you shouldn't need anything else. Especially not these note cards. Just one guys opinion. I did passed the first time with this strategy, but that's no guarantee.

this is a great product for when you are in the car. I drive about 35 minutes to work and it I'm able to review two chapters during that drive. Rita gives you a great suggestions on what you need to focus on. I also have her printed flash cards but I don't use them much. This is a much better resource if you commute to work.

I found this book very helpful to pass my PMP, I completed all the excercises in the book and read this book thoroughly.
I did a lot of other online research and readings as well including Villanova PMP prep materials but this book primarily was what i completely relied on. Honestly i did not even read the PMBOK. ;-) don't tell anyone ... and i don't recommend you do that .. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-10-17 08:18:06 EST)

While the PMBOK is a necessary and important resource for PM knowledge, it can be fairly cryptic at times. Additionally, it can sometimes be challenging to apply it to your particular industry due to its well-intended obtuse tone.
Rita uses her insight and years of experience to answer all of those little questions that came up while reading the PMBOK. She cuts to the chase and give you real-world examples that you can apply right away. Highly recommended for any current or aspiring project manager. I found these audio CDs very useful since you can hear it anywhere anytime while driving. I in fact uploaded it into my iPod, so that I can listen to it anytime. It makes your remember all the definitions and basic concept.
I would highly recommend it to those who are preparing for PMP Certification. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-09-09 06:26:53 EST)

I found this to be extremely helpful if you are a commuter. I would just take it with on the train / bus and even to work and quiz myself. The book is the meat of it and the flashcards are the seasonings! I think its a great addition to any study material. Just put it in your purse and whenever you have a free moment wherever you're at you can pull it out and quiz yourself. Good buy!

I passed the PMP exam on my first try weeks ago. I didn't attend any prep class. The only materials I used to prepare for PMP were three books and 1 CD I got here from Amazon. Besides, English is not my first language. So I guess I read slower than most exam takers.
Here is my comment for them: - The PMP Exam: How to Pass On Your First Try, by Andy Crowe I think this was the single most useful resource that helped me pass the exam. The content of it is well organized and self contained. It took me about 3 weeks to read it cover to cover. And after that, I felt much comfortable about the system of both PM process groups & knowledge areas. It was a pity that I did't really have time to re-read it before the exam or use the free 1 week online resource it provided. Or it should make my test experience easier. Bottom line: HIGHLY recommend. - PMP In Depth: Project Management Professional Study Guide for PMP and CAPM Exams, by Paul Sanghera I bought this one simply because it got pretty good rating on Amazon, but I have to say it's pretty disappointing. First, the process group oriented approach to organize this book is a good try. It should be easier for most rookies to have a good idea about the big picture of PM. However, I don't think the author did a very good job on mapping processes in different knowledge areas with related process groups. Besides, this may be the first book I've ever read that goes with so many typos and mistakes. I really wonder if it has been edited or proofread before publishing. Bottom line: NOT recommend. - PMP Exam Quicklet: Project Management Professional Practice Exams, by Paul Sanghera The same author as "PMP In Depth", thus it contains a lot of typos, too. In addition, I don't think those questions in this book will get you a good feel of the real exam questions, because at least 30~40% of them will be much more difficult. When I tried those questions in this book before exam at home, I could easily finish 200 questions in about 2 and half hours and got about 85% correctness. However, it took me more than 3 and half hours and a lot of guesses in the real test. Third, quite a few of the 540 questions in this book are repetitive. Bottom line: Somewhat recommend. - Hot Topics Flashcards for Passing the PMP and CAPM Exams (Audio CD), by Rita Mulcahy (Author) I spend more than one hour on public transportations everyday during weekdays. That's why I bought this CD. It is a nice review and memory enhancement if you don't mind listening to those boring stuff when you walk or drive. Bottom line: Recommend. - PMP Exam Prep: Rita's Course in a Book for Passing the PMP Exam, by Rita Mulcahy I did not buy this book, but based on my experience of using the "Hot Topics Flashcards" CD, I believe this should be a pretty good material for the PMP exam. Bottom line: HIGHLY Recommend. Overall, my suggestions would be : 1. You should expect to study intensively for 1 to 3 months to pass the exam. (It took me 3) If you plan to spend more than 3 months, you may forget what you study in the first beginning. Better to focus and get it done quickly. 2. Carefully study "The PMP Exam: How to Pass On Your First Try" & "PMP Exam Prep, Fifth Edition: Rita's Course in a Book for Passing the PMP Exam". 3. Do enough simulation questions (enough = at least 600 questions = 3 full set exams). Be sure to figure out the correct answers of those questions you got wrong. 4. Don't rely on PMBOK as your only resource for PMP preparation. There are some testing materials not even included in it, ex. organization & motivation theories. 5. Be sure to get enough sleep the night before exam. The real questions will be hard and require a very clear mind. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-02-08 20:14:27 EST)

This Audio CD is an excellent supporting material for preparing for the PMP Exam. Rita Mulcahy hits the nail right on the head with this preparation material.

This is a good book but not great. I prefer PMP Flashcard Quicklet by Paul Sanghera, which is very self contained and comprehensive. This book by Rita has quite a few errors and too many references to Rita's other books (not self contained)...as a second flashcard book, it's fine.

This review is for the audio cd flashcards. I am a recent PMP, and this was one of the tools that I used to pass the certification exam. For the price, this is a worthwhile purchase for those that will be studying for the exam and will spend a lot of time in the car.
At the beginning of the first disk, the explanation states that the cds should not be transferred to any device, which sounds like it includes transferring to MP3 players. There is no encoding restriction to prevent you from treating this like a normal cd and saving it to your hard drive or MP3 player, but in this day and age, it's a strange thing to hear. It's unclear if that's actually the intent, but it certainly comes across that way. Rita tries to break up the monotony by telling anecdotes and tips at the beginning of each section, but this gets tedious quickly. Some of her jokes fall flat, and it becomes excruciating upon repeated plays. In addition, some of this is straight from her PMP Exam Prep book. The bulk of the cds is recorded by a voice actor has chapters divided up by the knowledge area. The voice actor asks a question, and then there is a brief pause so the listener can attempt to come up with the proper answer. The pause is followed by the answer...most of the time. Some questions are asked, but in some cases the voice actor states that the answer is too long to be repeated, which just comes across as disruptive to the flow of learning. In this day and age, it's bizarre to hear that the audio recordings can't ethically be allowed on a portable media device. The CDs could benefit from having some of the conversational fat cut out of them, and it would be good to hear answers to all of the questions posed. That having been said, this is a worthwhile purchase if you will be studying for certification and will be in a place to hear the cds. It's a fairly inexpensive study aid, and it certainly helped me earn my certification. (Review Data Last Updated: 2007-07-20 23:58:28 EST)

This product is not worthy of your money....
These are just global review of general topics. If you read the book, you won't need these. If you need these, you won't pass the test. Don't fall into Rita's clever web of buying her stuff...which is repackaged material. It's all in the book.... (Review Data Last Updated: 2007-07-03 15:59:03 EST)

There was not enough product information on Amazon site, or else
I would not have bought this item. This is not what I expected. When you say "Flash Cards", my understanding was that it would be index cards that I could thumb-tack on the walls in my office/room. (Review Data Last Updated: 2007-06-25 21:24:19 EST)

Very impressed. Material was out of the box thinking in the approach to asking you the questions and leaving out "Multiple Choice". Made the study material force the person to think. Which dramatically helps you study in a more "Thinking" manner.

For the PMP Quick Exam Review, I recommend two books: this one and the PMP Flashcard Quicklet by Paul Sanghera. I find PMP Flashcard Quicklet very self contained, while this book makes references to Rita's other books. But if you already have those books, then this book will be as good as Sanghera's.
Overall, an excellent book. Highly recommended. (Review Data Last Updated: 2007-06-08 14:43:10 EST)

The flash card questions and answers take me gradually through various chapters to provide a good understanding of Project Management. THis is a very helpful and handy tool for anyone starting to get a grip of PM.

This is a very useful tool to use to study, but I would only use it when you have studied most of the material because you'll get frustrated. This is definitely not enough to use to study for the exam. I'd HIGHLY recommend Rita's book to study and I LOVE the PMP conversations CD by ESI. That CD was sooooo useful to me and really helped me study! So, use all 3 tools in combination for a perfect mix.

I listened to this CD in my car prior to the start of my PMP class and I found that I knew much of the basic material presented. It was a great jump start and a great way to study in the car without taking up additional time during the day.
The Audio Flashcards are by no means a substitute for studying the PMBOK and Rita Mulcahy's other exam prep materials but they provide and excellent base of knowledge which makes the other studying go faster. (Review Data Last Updated: 2006-07-07 12:35:12 EST)

It's a sample of the questions you can get in the software, a great tool if you can't use a laptop or PC. All you have to do is turn the page and get a full explanation, with references to PMBOK... very useful.

If you learn best by repetitive exposure (i.e., flashcards), this book is for you. Rita's Hot Topics allows you to "quiz" yourself or work with a partner or group to study for the PMP exam. I recently passed the PMP and was helped by using this book (although it wasn't my only resource). The CD version of this book is also helpful, as it can be used in the car or at home, and the built-in timing forces you to work on answering questions quickly and correctly. On the negative side, I found it easy to get bored with this format, and ended up relying upon the book more heavily. Overall, however, it was worth the money I spent on it [($$$)].
