Contrary to what many believe, money certainly can't buy you happiness, and no one knows that better than the privileged members of New York society, and residents of the Upper East Side - namely Blair Waldorf.
Blair Waldorf has it all. The looks, the clothes, but she's missing two very important things - her hotter than hot ex-boyfriend Nate Archibald, and a spot at the prestigious Yale - a place of higher learning which she has had her sights set on since she could walk. But after a botched interview, Blair is seriously contemplating enrolling in community college - after all, in her opinion, that's probably where she belongs. Instead, she hacks off her hair during an Audrey Hepburn moment, then snags a re-do interview for her college of choice. But with her aggravating new stepbrother, Aaron, lurking around, she still can't find a moment of peace. Blair's best frienemy, Serena van der Woodsen, doesn't mind Aaron's presence, however. In fact, she can't seem to get enough of it. In her opinion, for the first time in her life, she is madly, deeply in love with the dreadlocked, bohemian style that Aaron embodies. But maybe, just maybe, Aaron is beginning to feel suffocated by his girlfriend's presence, and the fact that she expects him to spend his spare time accompanying her to the various fashion week shows coming up - one of which she may be playing a role in. And of course we can't forget Nate. His good looks may draw you in, but his constant dependence on marijuana can certainly work to deter you from taking a second glance. When he gets busted, it's finally time for him to turn over a new leaf in his life. Hopefully it won't be a marijuana leaf. Jenny Humphrey and her brother, Dan, along with his girlfriend, Vanessa, of course, are still up to their old tricks; only slightly different. Jenny has picked up a new best friend who seems to think about nothing but romance - perhaps because Valentine's Day is right around the corner. And Dan has let the popularity of his first ever published poem go to his head, leaving Vanessa out in the cold. Never mind, she may just have someone else who can keep her warm - and appreciate her talent for what it truly is; even if it's slightly weird. It has been a few months since I read ALL I WANT IS EVERYTHING, but that doesn't mean that I have forgotten about some of my favorite Upper East Siders. Upon reading the first paragraph, my passion for Cecily von Ziegesar's characters came flooding back, and stayed with me long after I turned the last page. As always, Blair steals the show with her over-dramatic hysterics and theatrics, which leave the reader spellbound; but little Jenny certainly shows the potential of snagging the spotlight with her constant contemplation regarding the state of her life, and the choices that she has made of late. Serena is gorgeous, as always, but her bubbly, carefree, somewhat air-headed personality can be a little much at times, and leave you wanting to take a step back from her character; and no matter how much trouble Nate gets himself into, it's impossible to resist his gorgeous green eyes, and debonair way of living. Dan's transformation is a little bizarre, as is Vanessa's ability to put up with Dan's betrayal; and Aaron comes off as just an afterthought who may disappear from future installments bit-by-bit. All in all, however, BECAUSE I'M WORTH IT is most certainly worth your time. Erika Sorocco Freelance Reviewer (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-08-16 10:05:21 EST)

Cecily von Ziegesar's 4th installment in the Gossip Girl series is fun and interesting. In this segment, Blair gets the chance to redue her Yale interview with one of her fathers friend who works for Yale. At school, Serena and Blair join a peer pressure group where Jenny and other freshmen, including Elise Owens gets advice and gets to ask for help on pressure. Blair falls in love with her Yale interviewer, who falls in love back. But she realizes that he was Elise's father, and Elise is saddend by the fact that her father is less around, and she believes he is having an affair, so Blair leaves him. Serena gets to model for ads and at a fashion show, which leads to the breakup of her and Aaron, Blair's stepbrother. One of Dan's poems gets published in a newspaper and it becomes famous, and he gets to speak at a country club, and go to party's. Vanessa's filming becomes famous, but she turns down and deal with a famous filmer. Nate goes to rehab after his dealer starts working for the police. There he mets another girl and saves her life, while also falling in love with her. Cecily did a great job on this novel, and she keeps the series interesting.

After the disappointed g.g book # 3 This book (The fourth one) comes out it's so good. It's good like the first book was. Alot of things happen that are shocking like Nate gets busted in the park and Blair has an affair with a married man! Wow it was good. But the thing I hate about this book is Dan and Vanessa. Anything with them I quickly read through. It's so boring until Dan cheats on her with Mystery Craze. Also he's becoming very arrogant just like the rest of the characters in this book and I hate that! His sister Jenny has a lesbian affair too. I didn't see that one coming. It's all too juicy to put down.

This is the third gossip girl novel. So far out of reading all of them so far, this is my favorite. I like the plot that Jenny and all the characters were into. They live the perfect lives and it's just hilarious to see what they're going to be doing next.
Dan is the poet, Vanessa is the girl who knows what she wants to do, Blair is used to getting everything she wants. This sometimes happens. And Serena is just the star, who out glows them all in the plot. Nate is just pathetic in my opinion. (Review Data Last Updated: 2008-02-15 10:51:12 EST)

The Gossip Girl books are amazing and I often find myself thinking they should be made into a teenage T.V. show!
The book was good as they always are but for me it was a bit of a let down because Nate and Blair are not together and that is just not an option. I also found some parts kind of unrealistic, I mean Jenny and Elise kissing!? This is also the book that Nate gets busted for smoking pot in. He is sent to rehab and meets this insane druggie girl Gorgie and they end up going out to Blair's horror. Dan gets really big headed in this book because his poem "Sluts" gets published in the New yorker and this weirdo agent Rusty Klein says she wants to represent him. Now thats all fine until Rusty introduces Dan to another one of her clients Mystery Craze. Mystery is supposedly writing a book about her life and as he should Dan finds her very odd at first. But surprisingly, towards the end of the book Dan finds himself cheating on Vanessa with Mystery. Vanessa eventually finds out when Dan and Mystery end up having sex on stage in front of an audience. I'll stop there before I totally spoil the whole story! But I will say this, if you were going to read the book go ahead and read it but don't hold me responsible if you don't like it! Ok, so I definitely enjoy the Gossip Girl series. However, in this book (or maybe in one of the other ones in the series, I don't really remember the differences between them), Dan reflects on the nature of the monster in Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. He refers to the monster as Frankenstein, which is a little bit awkward to any reader who realizes that Frankenstein was the name of the doctor. Apparently, Cecily von Whatever (who, I'm guessing, added the "von" to her name when she started writing) has never actually read Frankenstein. I could just be being picky, but it's kind of an obvious mistake. Wouldn't you think that at least, say, her publisher, who should know something about literature, would catch it? Maybe they figured that the type of girl reading this book would be too stupid to notice.
Moreover, while the Gossip Girl books ARE pretty fun, I ended up getting really sick of the author's continuous attempts to live vicariously through Serena. (Review Data Last Updated: 2007-07-11 02:39:05 EST)

The 4th installment in Cecily von Ziegesar's "Gossip Girl" is amazing and proves to be slightly better than the 3rd one. This book focuses on B's tension to get into Yale, the hots she has for an older man and her mother's pregnancy. S's relationship with A, V's relatioship with D and N's addiction to weed. It also includes some hints as to who gossip girl is...
Still fabulous, juicy and full of gossip! (Review Data Last Updated: 2007-07-02 23:27:05 EST)

I'm shocked. It really worries me that so many girls my age read these books. I don't like to sound like a parent, but these books set a really bad example. The characters are so spoiled, it's disgusting. And they're mean, not to mention slutty. How can this book be a bestseller? It's trash. Don't people get bored with girls acting trashy and sleeping around? Look, read what you want, but parents should be warned about this book. Gossip Girl is NOT WORTH IT!

Blair still waiting for her letter from Yale to see if shes accepted or not after her first interview which was a disaster. Nate goes to rehab after found buying marajuana where he meets Georgia who he starts to like and thinks rehab isn't so bad after all. Serena and Aaron are finally an item, but who knows how long it will last! Dan gets his poem "Sluts," published in The New York Times and meets Mystery who he has affair with ending his relationship with Vanessa. Jenny finds a new love named Leo, and they become an item.
This 4th installment in the series is defenitely better then the 3rd! Recommend if you like The Gossip Girl Series! (Review Data Last Updated: 2006-07-02 15:52:01 EST)

Living the High Life
We have all read rumors in the tabloids or heard it on the street, about what's hot and what's not or who the new "it" couple is; but in this story gossiping has been taken to another step. The book I am reading is because I'm worth it: A Gossip Girl novel, by Cecily von Ziegesar. It is the fourth book in the Gossip Girl series. It takes place in upper New York City where the many main characters live with their wealthy families. Many are looking forward to graduation which is just around the corner for many and others are learning how to handle everyday New York struggles. The seniors in the story wait in suspense to hear from the colleges they have chosen to hear if they have been accepted or rejected. The characters have many different personalities and many are beginning to find themselves within. The girls in this story attend Constance Billard for girls and the guys attend Riverside Prep. Serena van der Woodsen, happy-go-lucky, 17 year old, senior drama queen at Constance becomes discovered as an ad model and falls hard in love, but struggles to remember her friends though all is forgotten in the end. Blair Waldorf, Serena's party pal senior goes through many trials to try and find herself and falls for a Yale Alumni. She also is struggling with family marriage, college and her still continuing problem: Bulimia. Aaron, the vegan, is Blair's new step-brother and is now dating Blair's best friend, Serena, which is irritating Blair. Nate Archibald, a senior at Riverside Prep, gets "busted" and finds love in rehab but reminisces about past relationships. Dan Humphrey is a successful senior and has his first poem published in a well-known newspaper and is a caffeine addict. Jenny Humphrey, Dan's freshman sister goes back to her art after recuperating from rejection and finds some new friends. But she struggles to be confident with her body image. Elise Wells is a new character that is introduced in this book for the first time. She is becoming good friends with Jenny and is very confident in herself. Vanessa is a senior film maker who is discovered for her "exposing" film which is chosen to be the backdrop at a fashion show during Fashion Week. She and Dan are a couple striving until the end. The conflicts in this story differ from character to character. The conflict for all of them is the long and strenuous road to self discovery but for some it is the impatient wait for acceptance letters from their choice college. I would recommend this book for girls' ages 15-18. If you like to think about living "The High Life" then this book is suitable for you. It explains that life isn't always perfect even for those who think of themselves perfect, everyone has struggles with the same things like divorce, betrayal, friendships and love. This book will leave you in suspense and craving for the next. As the book says: You know you love me. Gossip girl (Review Data Last Updated: 2006-07-02 15:52:01 EST)

I read this book first because it was the only one the library had at the time. I was able to follow the plot. However, it took a long time for me to really get hooked and even after that I kept thinking about how awful the writing was. The plot should have been better developed and there are so many more authors that are more worth reading.

Blair, Serena, Dan, Jenny, Nate, Vanessa and Aaron continue to walk the streets of New York City showered with wealth from parents that continue to have little to do with their lives. Dan becomes famous when one of his poems is published by Vanessa in The New York Times. Vanessa becomes the center of attention herself when one of her films is submitted to the internet. Blair continues to remain jealous of Serena and her beauty, who further pursues her modeling career. Nate gets himself in trouble with the cops after he is busted with pot, forcing him to join a Rehibilitation Center where he finds a new love with new problems.

In the fourth installment of this brilliant series, von Ziegesar keeps you on the edge of your seat with this enticing and lustful story.
It is better than any addictive soap opera. In this novel there was more focus on Dan and Vanessa(which turns out to be quite interesting in the end). Adorable Nate is actually caught and sent to rehab where he meets an intriging girl who he is instantly drawn to. Blair, who is deperately trying to get into Yale, falls for her older and married Yale interviewee. Ahh, Serena, who books a gig as a runway model just by being Serena. Serena and Aaron are a thing, but how long will it last? And will we ever find out who the real Gossip Girl is? One can only read to find out.... (Review Data Last Updated: 2006-07-02 15:52:01 EST)

I got introduced to Gossip Girl by my best friend Stephanie. I thought to myself Im not going to read 6 books about the same thing. Stephanie told me to try it and if I didnt like it I could stop reading it. The first night I was like ok Im going to open the book and read a little bit and see if I like the book.
I couldnt put the book down after the first couple of chapters. I loved it the way there life relates so much to mine and my friends. The way Blair loved Nate and she was just a game for him had a lot to do with me and my x boyfriend's relationship. I would have many problems with him and have the worst day, and at night come home to my warm bed and cuddle up with Gossip Girl. The reason why I love Gossip Girl is that it keeps you interested and it dosent let you down. Its not boring like other books that are predictable. Gossip Girl keeps you guessing and none of the guesses are what happens. And I love that. I also heard that they are making a movie and I cant wait till it comes out. I have read the first 3 books in less than a month and I cant wait till I buy the others. Im really excited to find out what happens after Nate is without Blair or Jenny, and how Blair is to react to the thought of Serena going out with Aaron. Its wierd because the last thing I remember is Aaron looking at Blair and Nate talking and feeling sad. I wonder if he still has feelings for her. And I really do hope Blair loses it in the next couple of books. I know exactly how she feels about Nate and her when they were going out and she wanted to do it but she couldnt. I still havent lost mine and Im the same. Well Cecily keep up the good work its awesome and I'll be reading the next couple of books. I cant wait to read more of your work!!! I truthfully was expecting the series to be a total washout when I picked up the first book, but ever scince then I proved myself to completly and flat out wrong. These are the best books I 've ever read and comletely engross me every time I read them. I feel as if I'm right there with the characters. However, you have to be a mature reader to be able to read these books becuase you wouldn't want a nine year old to read them.I love fasion and can relate to the characters with their problems. I would give this book m highest recommedation along with the rest of the series. Always, K.J.

In the fourth installment of Gossip Girl things are about to drastically change. These rich, beautiful, wild life Upper EastSide New York kids are still up to their backstabbling, malicious ways but this time life is gonna throw them some curveballs.
Blair is still waiting to see if she'll be accepted by Yale but after the whole interview mess and accidental affair with an older man things don't look so great, but meanwhile her obsession with ex-boyfriend Nate continues, though she is finding new avenues in her life, including letting go of her major Audrey Hepburn obssesion. Yeah, bet we expected that. Nate himself is turning over a new leaf after getting busted for drugs. He is sent to counseling where he saves a girl who overdoses. A drugged Snow White beauty would be a nice way to describe her and it looks like Nate's romantic status is headed in a different direction. More emphasis is put into Dan and Vannessa's relationship, and less on Serena, though I find her increasingly annoying. Dan, the romantic poet gets his poem published in the New Yorker somewhat by accident and then meets a yellow toothed lady whom he goes off and has an affair with. Call that messed up! Serena and Aaron are finally an item, but who knows how long that will last knowing Serena...Jen is moving on to a new man since Dan no longer seems to have time for her...Things are changing and the scandals/soap opera is getting weirder by the minute but the biggest question is still: Who is Gossip Girl? Could it be someone we least expect??? A definite must read though not as good as the previous few. Some storylines were a bit dull but still not one to miss:) Probably not your mother's favorite cup of tea but who can resist some guilty pleasure? (Review Data Last Updated: 2005-07-31 17:38:51 EST)
