I finished this book a few weeks ago. The only thing I disagreed with was his idea that young kids should be taught about guns during their formative years, making it a part of their school curriculum on some sort of regular, probably annual, basis. I thought that was a bit much. But I have always hammered away at AUTO safety with my kids, as far back as I can remember. I have taken every opportunity to warn them about drunk driving and irresponsible driving. And I dont mind THAT being taught in their school. Why not GUN safety then, as well? Safety being the operative word. Of course it cant be a half hour class each day all year, but an occasional visit by the local police chief? Probably that would save lives in the long run. Not probably....it would.

This book begins with two quotes from the Bible:

Genesis 9:3 "Every moving thing that liveth, shall be meat for you".

Genesis 27:3 "Now therefore take, I pray thee, thy weapons, thy quiver and thy bow, and go out and take me some venison".

Then there are two quotes from our founding fathers:

Thomas Jefferson: "A strong body makes the mind strong. As to the species of exercises, I advise the gun.....Let your gun therefore, be the constant companion of your walks".

George Washington:
"Firmarms stand next in importance to the Constituton itselt. They are the American people's liberty, teeth, and keystone under our independence....From the hour the pilgrims landed, to the present day events,occurances & tendancies prove that to insure peace, security and happiness, the rifle & pistol are equally indispensable....the very atmosphere of firearms everywhere restains evil interference -they deserve a place of honor with all that's good."

Ted is Biblically Correct, not Polictically Correct!!!!

Ted has been a law enforcement officer, he has served as a special deputy sheriff for one or more of Michigan's County's.

This book is full of qoutes from Ted, one such quote is "There is a simple answer to crime. It's called enforcing the law."

Ted saved the life of a law enforcement officer,while on vacation in Miami Beach.
Two thugs had an officer down and were fighting for his gun. Ted intervened he showed the thugs, his badge, pointed his pistol at them, and told them to stop, or he'd kill them. They stopped! Ted called 911, explained the situation and requested assistance. Soon backup law enforcement arrived, and the downed Miami Beach police officer was saved. The 2 thugs went to jail. Thanks for Ted & his Gun!!!

Ted is actively involved in the D.A.R.E. program, designed to teach kids about the life skills needed to avoid involvement with drugs & alcohol abuse, and to avoid gang membership, and violence in general. Ted is a great role model!!!! Ted also, sponsers camps for kids to teach them about nature, and how to be responsible.

Another quote from Ted, "To be against law abiding citizens carrying concealed handguns is literally encouraging and assisting evil". Another qoute "To be against law abiding citizens carrying concealed handguns, is literally encouraging and assisting evil to have the upper hand". Plus, "when the law disarms good guys, bad guys rejoice.".

Another quote from Ted (Chapter 11), "IF GUNS CAUSE CRIME, all of mine are defective." (Because none of Ted's guns have ever commited a crime). Plus, "And if handguns are made only for killing people as the actions of Sarah Brady, and her lying scum friends like Dianne Feinstein & Charlie Schummer would suggest, then swimming pools are made only for drowning, and ladders are made only for falling off of. Sheer unadulterated nonsense".

Ted presents an example of how guns in the hands of law abiding citizens have saved innocent lives & property. According to the book, "Remember, the only block still standing in South Central Los Angeles following the Rodney King debacle were those buildings owned & protected by the Korean shop owners who positioned themselves on rooftops with semi-automatic firepower and had the will to use it." "Can you imagine the depth of irresponsible dependency that allows anyone to intentionally render their family defenseless?"

Ted gives more examples of how guns in the hands of law abiding citizens, have saved lives, and how the killings at Columbine, and the massacre at Luby's in Texas could have stopped, or at least stopped additional murders. For example the killings at the school in Pearl, Mississippi: "Remember the tragedy ...where 2 students were murdered and 7 more were injured by a boy named Luke Woodham?" "Little was reported was the fact that his rampage was halted by Joel Myrick...because this teacher had a .45 pistol in his car." "The network news almost entirely ignored the fact that it was an armed teacher who stopped this murdering of innocent school children."

Ted also discusses the shooting at the Washington, D.C. Zoo, by a teenager between 15 & 17. In response, Connecticut Senator Christoper Dodd had the audacity to say that this shooting proves we need more gun laws. IN FACT WE ALREADY HAD GUN LAWS (THAT IF OBEYED & ENFORCED COULD HAVE PREVENTED THIS). THESE LAWS ARE PROPLE UNDER 18 ARE FORBIDDEN FROM OWNING OR POSSESSING HANDGUNS. ALL FIREARMS ARE BANNED IN WASHINGTON, D.C. DISCHARGING A FIRARM IN THE CITY LIMITS IS AGAINST THE LAW. SHOOTING AT PEOPLE IS ILLEGAL. COULD ANY SERIOUS THINKING PERSON THINK THAT ANOTHER GUN LAW WOULD HAVE PREVENTED THIS "UNLAWFUL" SHOOTING????

Ted also gives examples of how the Columbine massacre could have been limited, and stopped. He states as a fact based on eye witnesses that the 2 murderers, Eric Harris & Dylan Klebold had to stop several times to reload. At these times both were totally vunerable to being killed immediately, so that no more murders would have occurred. However, their were no "armed" teachers or "armed' law abiding citizens to stop this massacre. Ted says "How dare politicians continue to pass insane laws forcing good law-abiding people to be defenseless & helpless".


Ted also, points out that the massacre at Luby's resturant in Texas, could have been stopped, because the muderer had to stop several times to reload, leaving him totally vunerable to have been stopped and killed, in order to prevent the murdering of more innocent people.

Ted has never been a drug or alcohol abuser!!!! He has a "sound mind, and not a spirit of fear", as mentioned in the bible.

Ted is a strong gun rights advocate. Another quote from Ted is "Criminals celebrate when politicians clear the way for (criminals) destructive ways."

Ted also brings out how the liberal controlled news networks, and other media, plain out right lie about guns & violence. Ted points out facts about how more kids are killed by means other than guns, but the liberal media lies, and blames the guns.

Ted talks about the Editor of Rolling Stone magazine, Jann Wenner and about how he left his wife & kids to be with his boyfriend, and that this guy lies to his readers about guns & violence.

Ted talks about how hypocritical some of the ultra, liberal, rock stars are, in always propagating lies about gun deaths & violence, when in FACT FAR MORE ROCK STARS AND THEIR FANS, ARE KILLED BY DRUG & ALCOHOL ABUSE, THAN BY GUNS. IF THEY ARE SO CONCERNED ABOUT DEATH, WHY DON'T THEY ATTACK THE DRUG & ALCOHOL ABUSE PROBLEM???As I mentioned before this book contains many, many quotes by Ted, too many to memtion in a book review, but you can tell, Ted is full of common sense. He doesn't have a reprobate mind, like some of the liberal media, and some of the liberal rock stars have.

Ted is a family man. He is an excellent father, & husband. Ted is an avid sportsman, and hunter. He is a bow hunter, as well as a hunter with guns. He respects nature, and he doesn't kill, just to kill. What he kills, he eats, or in rare cases he kills for ecology reasons. For example on a safaria in Africa, he legally killed an Elephant because, there were too many elphants in this particular eco-system to survive on the foodstuff that was available for them. So, the responsible government in charge of this issued permits to kill a limited number of elephants, so that the remander of elephants would have enough food in this eco-system to survive. Ted is a supporter of wildlife, nature, the ecology, and the environment.

Ted practices gun ownership responsibility, and he encourages gun responsibility.

Ted is very candid about his experiences with guns, and about how he has been negligent with guns at times. However, he learned from these incidents, and at the time of publication, it has been 6 years,since he had a negligent incident with a gun. It should be noted, that no person or animal was injured when these incidents occurred. Ted realizes that guns should be respected, and handled responsibly.

Near the center portion of the book, there are pictures of Ted, as a boy, with family members, with the Amboy Dukes (Ted's 1st major band), Ted & his dad, Ted & his wife Shemane, Ted with his "hunting & life mentor" Fred Bear, and many, many more of Ted on some of his hunting adventures, & with other people, including John F.Kennedy Jr.& Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy.

Also, Chapter 37 is about Fred Bear, Ted's mentor in hunting & in life. It begins with the lyrics to the song "Fred Bear", which Ted wrote as a tribute to Fred Bear, a lengendary outdoorsman & hunter.

Ted talks about Thanksgiving, and giving thanks to God.

Ted is one of the Greatest rock & roll guitarist and musicians of all times.

Ted has been performing rock & roll for over 40+ years, and he is still going strong at age 60. He seens like a 30 year old, just watch his latest concert dvd "Motor City Mayhem".

Ted Nugent respects GOD, Freedom, Guns, Responsibility, Hunting, the Outdoors and good wholesome Rock & Roll. There you have it in a "nutshell" Ted stands for GOD, GUNS & ROCK & ROLL (NOT SEX, DRUGS, & ROCK & ROLL - like the drug/alcohol abusers stand for).

These are law abiding citizens, exercising their right of free speech, and they are protesting the direction our Country is currently going in. They, like me want our freedom. They, like me are protesting the current administration for allowing government to gain greater control over our personal freedoms, and they are protesting the overspending, and the socialization of America, especially the government takeover of our healthcare system. Nugent is great showman and entertaining guest on talk shows. But this book is plane tedious! Here is the entire "plot":
He knows everything and then some. His wife=lovely. Dad=Great.His Children= wonderful.Plenty of gun details, reads like a gun users manual.Killing deer, while they drink at the waterhole, is super. He prays for them, after he snipes them off.He knows important people.He is a hero in his self righteous world.Guns are super, repeat the mantra.No other point, no entertainment value.

The book is about 5 percent God, 15 percent Rock n Roll and 80 percent guns. It was interesting enough that I finished it, but it wasn't a great read.

The only reason I keep it is because Terrible Ted signed the front cover for me.

Great Book! What an insight to the Motor City Mad Man's life. Mr. Nugent has done more to help this great country than Obama will ever be capable. Mr. Nugent's impressive resume of leadership should be the example used for new Junior Senators. His tireless commitment to the exposure of deadhead politicians has helped more people recognize the truth about the lies that degrade the basic foundation of America. Mr. Nugent is a "Get Off Your duff and get it done, don't wait for someone else to do it for you" Kind of American. He is not a Politician he is an American! If you don't see the need for America to return to the foundation in which it was created, please move your overheated carcass to Europe. Don't make this Great Country into another euro liberal stench pot.

One might assume a book with this title would be ironic. But I forget--Republicans aren't funny. Ah.
Read the other reviews to see what kinda folks gravitate toward this book. That's the best review. I respect Nugent's music and hoped he'd talk more about that--but poor guy, he just don't cut the mustard in that regard. But if you want an earfull of his adolescent phallic fixation with firearms and the notion that we need more of 'em--then belly up to the bar. This is the book for you.

In cahoots, apparently, with his editor, The Mighty Nuge immediately disqualifies himself from knowing standard English expression with his treatise on Nuge-speak. OK, fair enough. If you love The Nuge like I love the Nuge--you expect this.

Read it. But don't expect him to say anything intelligent about guns or how to reduce gun violence--about which this book conveniently contains a dearth of acknowledgment. Ted tends to see things as if everybody in his grand, free republic is situated like himself. His prescriptions hardly fit most Americans. This is why his fans tend to resemble him. The Nuge seems not to have a basic grasp of the diversity or complexity of our society, and he's too old now to get started on that.

It's best to let Ted blast away. For a man his age with nearly no hearing in one ear--and absolutely no hearing in the other, who maintains a healthy physique, keeps on a'rockin' as he does--just let the guy be. Although he hates them damn liberals when they say it, Ted's right about our disconnectedness with nature, our need to get elbows-deep into a gutpile in the middle of a forest somewhere. On that point--Ted's words resonate here.

For him and his little coterie, God, Guns, & Rock'N'Roll is a suitable answer if--if you limit yourself to dumb questions.

Anyone who buys into Nugent's "patriot" hype is somehow totally misinformed. He was a well-known draft dodger back in the Vietnam era. All of his flag-waving is nothing but a publicity stunt. As for his big talk about values, he has the morals of an alleycat.

Why is it that the radical right-wing these days has to promote chickenhawks and hypocrites as their spokesmen?

Why do so many otherwise fully functioning, well-meaning Americans buy into their bull?

If you want to promote this clown's masquerade as an uberpatriot, then buy this book. If you're truly concerned about the future of our country, then speak out against these merchants of intolerance. America works best when we work together. These guys who try to turn us against one another are doing a lot more harm than good. They appeal to your base emotions, without providing any solutions. Don't be sucked in.

Read the book, rate the book...it's really simple.

While it's really a 4 star book (some of the hunting stories do drag on a bit), I gave it five to help balance the oddly hateful reviews.

It's a book on Ted's take on politics, life and hunting told in Ted's usual style. If you like that sorta thing, you will like this book. If you don't like Ted, why not do something productive and read (and review) something you do like?

Ted Nugent is no hero. If you knew the revolting lengths he went to in order to avoid military service, you'd agree.

Ted Nugent is no moral role model. If you knew about his exploits with underage girls, you'd agree.

What we have here is an aging minor rock n' roll personality whose career was coming to an end by the early 90's. He merely reinvented himself to take advantage of the rising right-wing tide that also sees other military service avoiders like Rush Limbaugh, Bill O'Reilly, and Michael Weiner-Savage as pillars of virtue and wise political sages.

Please, people...

Get a clue.

Those of us who actually did serve in the military see these men for the jokers they truly are. If the radical right wing can find no better spokesmen than these, then it must be a strong comment on the defects in their message.

Ted Nugent is AWESOME and an excellent role model. I bought this book for my husband, a Nugent fan, avid hunter and sportsman and collector of guns and he convinced me to read it, too. I learned a lot and am happy that I read it!

What type of God would enjoy people using lethal firearms to kill his animal creation. Ted Nugent is the polar opposite of Mahatma Gandhi, a truly Godl'y man.

Mr. Nugent's treatise on the rights of lawful citizens to be armed for their own defense, and the value of hunting as a vital life skill. It is also somewhat biographical. Mr. Nugent tells it in the style that only he can! Ted Nugent has recieved an undue barrage of criticism from screaming hysterical leftists, merely because he is one of the very few people in the public spotlight to really speak his mind. The part that enrages the leftos the most, is that Nugent's opinions are based on fact and logic. The best they can do is disparage him for some long past alledged immature behavior in the earlier years of his music career. However, when compared to the absolutely repulsive behavior of the vast majority of so-called "celebrities" of "pop-culture", Ted Nugent's so-called scandals are quite minor.
A major point of this book is the issue of a citizen's absolute right to be armed. The leftists think this a "liberal versus conservative" issue, it most definitely is not! The main point is, that free, law-abiding people have the right to defend themselves against criminal assault, it is the most basic human-right. Part of that right is possession of the tools or arms to enable you to protect yourself, your family, and associates. This is a right of every living person. Your ideology, however foolish it may be, is not a factor here. Maybe someday the anti-gun rabble will understand this, but the truth is that their agenda for disarming free citizens has far more sinister objectives than what most of them openly claim.

Back in the 70s, Ted petitioned a court for guardianship of a 14-year-old so he could have sex with her.
He also admitted to "crapping" himself for a week straight to avoid the Vietnam draft?
But he hunts! So he's a great guy!

Even if you don't agree with Ted, this book is an interesting read. I can certainly appreciate his bold and outspoken interpretation of social issues. Nugent does not shy away from child raising, gun control, welfare, and other issues. I think many of the reviews of this book are based upon Ted's personality and reputation. Give the book a chance - I bet you won't be able to put it down. I laughed out loud several times and thought his lack of "political correctness" was refreshing.

This is the greatest book i ever read. Ted Nugent speaks the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. If you are a ted nugent fan, a pro hunter, or want to come up with a like for hunting or ted nugent, this is a great book for you.

I am not surprised Nugent doesn't mention what he once claimed was his favorite teenaged pastime, "nunning."
In an interview for "Oui" magazine in the early 80's, Nugent was all too ready and willing to explain to the interviewer just what this "nunning" was.

As Nugent explained it:
He and a friend would drive around churches, convents, Catholic schools etc. with whichever one of them was on the passenger side having a large street map laid out on their lap. Underneath the map, Nugent and pal would have his zipper undone and his penis hanging out. When they would spot a young nun who looked naive enough, they would ask her through the halfway opened car window for directions to a certain street or road. As she would walk over, the jerk with the map would playact at being confused, looking dumbfounded at it. When the poor sister would reach into the car so she can get a better look at what Nugent and friend were having trouble, Nugent or friend would then quickly roll up the window thus trapping the now terrified nun. Then Nugent or friend would toss away the map waving their penis in the poor nun's face and fondle her chest.

This is the guy who has so much to say about morals, ethic and right living. This guy is a degenrate and his conservative Republican friends are all hypocrites when they have so much to say about "liberal celebrities" and never even acknowledge what this guy was so proud to brag about back in the 80's.

After seeing Ted nearly amputate his own leg on TV while cutting down a sapling that a boy scout could've cut down with a Gerber camp axe, I have decided to dismiss Teddie as a bombastic nutjob who will, in the end, be a caustic detriment to the TRUE culture of sportsmen in America. Oh God no! I'm starting to sound like him now! The near amputation actually was the beginning of the slide for me. Reading his article in American Hunter of Dec 2005 and then re-reading this book actually sealed the deal. Ted is not the epitome of true sportsmen! It was bad enough watching Kerry drag around geese that had been dead for a week during election time to try to gain the Duck's Unlimited vote but watching Ted do anything in the name of modern sportsmen is just as bad. How can Ted's actions help our image? There's an old saying in the South: An empty can rattles the most. Holds true for Ted.

Ted Nugent. God, Guns, & Rock'N'Roll, Regnery Publishing, 2001, 311 pages

In God, Guns, & Rock'N'Roll Ted Nugent discusses many subjects, most including hunting and gun ownership in America. In this book Nugent takes you through some of his life and how hunting, music, religion and carrying a gun have helped him throughout his life. This book is an interesting book; you get to see how Ted Nugent views gun control, religion, music, hunting and many other subjects. Whether you agree with Ted Nugent or not this is a very good current affair/biography, and it is easy reading. This book should be read by anyone who is a hunter/ gun owner, musician, and anyone who is interested in current affairs in America. I liked reading this book a lot and I recommend it to everyone.

Since only Nugent fans will ever read this trash they will lap it up with the anxiety of Nugent himself, gun in hand, tracking defenseless animals. Every nuance of reality is stood on end in this delusional manifesto of individual inaccountability to society. The media is seen as the monster it is but is warped into a fantasyland tyrant controlled by "liberals," which, as a term encompasses a pluralism in society that in politics turns into an embracing of the ideas of a culture as a whole with the end result that nothing but conservative measures can be a political outcome. This outragageous trash talking hatred done at a distance is targeted at the vast majority of society which Ted dismisses as "idiots.".

Gonzo was a term coined by Hunter S. Thompson to describe fictionalized accounts of real events, and Ted's appropriation of the term is ironic. A Vietnam draft dodger cum chickenhawk, and a statutory rapist who became a guardian of the girl with whom he carried on an incestuous affair are not things to sell to the public as a compassionate socially responsible citizen. So what we have with this book is the evolution of a great entertainer, a tremendous actor who is able to create a larger than life mystique and continues to be able to sell himself to a stronghold of adoring fans.

If this book doesn't give you a case of "Buck Fever", I don't know what will!!!! If you approach the book as a metaphor spoken by the Nuge, it makes it all the more interesting. I think Ted brings into the book some very real truths about guns and weapons. Things like "You'll never see a gang banger with a Hunter's Safety Permit in their back pocket". Also on gun handling he brings in very real personal experiences the rules of gun handling and storage which many of us have grown up with from day one that aren't taught in "Liberal Education". He also includes heartwarming stories about people like Fred Bear (also THE BEST hunting song ever written).. This book is not one for the timid or someone expecting a textbook, it hits reality with common sense backed up with factual information that you won't hear in the media.

Ted, Ted, Ted, where did you go wrong? Do you think
that you are Rush Limbaugh, or some other right-wing
loudmouth? One would think so from reading this book.
Now back in the late sixties, Ted used to be the
best guitarist in Detroit. He could make that Byrdland
sing! His control of feedback was superb! He could have
become a great, but something went wrong along the way.
Perhaps a clue lies in the writings of his book. It
seems that he never questions himself -- like other

loudmouths, he is always right -- about everything!
I guess this is a result of having drunk frat boys
telling you that you're great after a mediocre, but
loud and kickin' concert. Ted, if you even thought
about any other musician besides yourself, you would
find that they are sensitive and basically unsure
about their abilities and direction of their lives.
You talk about a jam session with Jimi Hendrix,
and others that have passed, seemingly because of
drug abuse. The drug abuse was a symptom of their
pressure-packed unreal existences, not a weakness
of their characters. You have not reached the level
of their talent, or success on the Detroit-to-Miami
midsize concert route. You would not be allowed to
jam with them. You couldn't even jam with Wayne
Kramer at the Grande Ballroom!
Before you write another of these ridiculous tomes
for the ignorant, do some soul searching. A rock
and roll Limbaugh is not a pretty sight!

This book is F-U-N, folks. It's divided into three sections titled Cocked, Locked, and Ready to Rock (politics); The Ballistics of Spirituality -- You Can't Grill it 'Til You Kill It (hunting); and Kids, Family, and the Spirit of the Wild (family). Ted Nugent's opinions are pedal-to-the-metal, full-steam-ahead. I don't think he knows where the brake is, or what it's for. And though he can indeed spell "tact", I'm not sure he really understands the concept. (That was a compliment, by the way.) Here are some of the gems from God, Guns, & Rock 'n' Roll:

Ted Nugent on anti-gunners: "Only a coward would want fewer good guys with guns on the streets in today's world. Only a fool would support -- much less design -- such a policy of helplessness....To be against law-abiding citizens carrying concealed handguns is literally encouraging and assisting evil to have the upper hand."

Ted Nugent on the liberal media and their attitude toward guns: "I've known it forever, and Jesse Ventura figured it out pretty quick. The vast majority of America's free press doesn't report the news, they make it up. Anyone who dismisses the claims of a conspiracy is either a paid employee of the media or a deaf, dumb, and blind fool. Especially dumb."

Ted Nugent on the "coolness" of doing drugs: "Hey, I got a good idea, let's go to a jam session celebrating the spirited and creative overjuiceflow of Jimi Hendrix, Keith Moon, Mike Bloomfield, Brian Jones, Phil Lycott, Dennis Wilson, Bon Scott, John Belushi, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, Jerry Garcia, and a stupefying long list of the hippest idiots that ever lived. And died. Would if we could, but Jimi got high and Jimi's dead, I went huntin' and I'm still Ted....The one time Jimi saw my gun, he thought I was way out there. Now they ain't got no life nowhere. 'Scuse me while I kiss the sky." Is it just me, or would some of that make great song lyrics?

Ted Nugent on gun banning as crime control: "If guns cause crime, all of mine are defective. And if handguns are made only for killing people as the actions of Sarah Brady and her lying scum friends like Diane Feinstein and Charlie Schumer would suggest, swimming pools are made only for drowning, and ladders only for falling off of."

Ted Nugent on concealed carry: "To my mind, it is wholly irresponsible to go into the world incapable of preventing violence, injury, crime, and death. How feeble is the mindset to accept defenselessness. How unnatural. How cheap. How cowardly. How pathetic....What kind of spineless dolt would dare venture forth virtually incapable of wiping his or her nose or surviving the vicious predator mentality of the paroled masses on the planet of the apes? Not I, sayeth the guitarboy."

I don't want all of the foregoing to give you the impression Ted Nugent's only skills as a writer are being outrageous and insulting anti-gunners (although he's very good at both). In his hunting stories he has a positive gift for evoking mood and place. Congressman Bob Barr of Georgia has written, "As I read God, Guns, & Rock 'n' Roll, I could hear the fall leaves crunch under Ted's boots and wince at his many falls into the Michigan mud." His tales of family are full of honest love and unabashed sentimentality. Ted Nugent is foursquare for love of family, love of America, love of guns, and he doesn't care who knows it.

What a disgust this man is. How dare Ted Nugent, call himself an environmentalist and conservationist and yet enjoy killing so much. Hunting is one thing, but to actually enjoy watching animals suffer and die as this scumbag does, manifests to me an inhuman monster with a gun. A disgrce to the human race.

It is people like this freak called Ted Nugent that are desensitizing kids and dumb adults alike and making them immune to commiting snseless slaughter. Although I don't like hunting I know that many people do and I respect their views. But I can't respect Ted's views because he is so barbaric about it. He actually enjoys killing and talks about the killing of the animals in disturbing detail. You really gotta be sick in the head to enjoy killing in such manner. I also cannot respect him because he is so self-righteous and arrogant that he considers all anti-hunters freaks. He goes on to say that it is irrational to be an anti-hunter. But look at his arguements, he says he kills off only surpluses of animals and yet there is a disgusting picture of him in the book smiling as he stands over the carcass of an endangered African elephant he shot. Hello, elephants are vanishing. Ted is a barbarian and any parent that lets their children read the chapter "Ted's message to kids" can only blame themselves when their kids turn out to be sick and twisted like this loser who wrote the book is. One of the most disgusting and blatantly offensive books I've seen.

I don't get a chance to read much, but I liked and agreed with the subject matter, his thoughts, and attitude. And the fact it wasn't glossed over with usless babling words like a soap opera. It' got to the point, and the quick reading, larger type print gave you inspiration, that you would be able to finish the book. Unlike some books in small print with a 3 inches of paper, that could take 40 years to read.
I haven't hunted that much, but I love my glocks, and
target shooting. And I study things for freedom of indoor hunting. :-)

Big disappointment. I'm a huge Ted Head and looked forward to the release of this book. However, all Nugent talks about is blowing away wild life in the back woods of Michigan. I've got nothing against hunting but you'd think he talk a little about his 50 or so years of playing rock music! I think he has like 3 sentences in the whole book where he speaks about recording a song/ album. I truly wonder how many people bought this book only to be let down by his ... hunting stories. Even if Ted focused on politics it would have been more interesting.

A very inspirational book! The Motorcity Madman is one of the few celebrities that I would class as a role model. His dedication to family is unparalleled and matched only by his love of the Great Outdoors.
Throughout his book he continually stresses safety, education, being drug-free and spending as much time with family as possible. Each hunt vividly comes alive as if you were there looking over his shoulder. He made me regret missing last year's hunting season.
And now knowing the story behind the "Fred Bear" song sends chills down my back and brings tears.
Growing up under the image of Ted Nugent from his "Cat Scratch Fever" album cover, I had mistakenly stereotyped him as a drug-abusing, hard-drinking, womanizing rock-n-roller. Ted will quickly let you know that he is a Father, Husband, Mentor, Citizen, Hunter and an excellent Guitar player!
This book is a must for anyone who has a love for hunting or the Great Outdoors.

Ted has been a great influence in my life for over 20 years. As a kid I loved his music and understood his antidrug message - something that you didn't get from the other rockers. As a young adult I learned about hunting and a healthy lifestyle from him. Now I am learning about parenting and leadership.
This book has tremendous advice for parents. Raising your kids is the most important job you will ever do. Listen to Ted - don't let them sit in front of the TV, take them outside to enjoy the beauty of nature.
Read this book and learn how to be a responsible adult. As a bonus, you'll learn about guns and hunting. I am buying copies for all of my friends.

If I could list five celebrities that I would drop everything in my life to go meet, the Motor City Madman would be at the top of my list. Ted Nugent is a refreshing, hardnosed icon of rugged individualism: the antithesis of the whining, socialistic activism running rampant in today's entertainment industry. When making an appearance on one of the cable talk shows, his no-nonsense, pull-no-punches conservativism usually leaves his liberal antagonist speechless, gaping for air like a fish out of water.

GOD, GUNS & ROCK 'N ROLL is Nugent's conservative manifesto. His love for hunting--for relishing the right to own guns--is revealed time after time, page after page. I'm not much of a hunter myself (don't have the patience for it), but I do possess unflinching admiration for the outdoorsmen of our society. And I'll defend to the death their Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms.

This book is pure Nugent-speak; you can practically hear him talk as you read the words. GOD, GUNS & ROCK 'N ROLL is more than worthy to take its place in anyone's conservative book collection.

I'm a big fan of Ted the man and Ted the musician. But contrary to the title, this book has very little in it about God or rock 'n' roll. Leaving -- you guessed it -- guns, guns and guns. That's 300-plus pages of Ted hunting, Ted's kids hunting, Ted's favorite guns, Ted's views on guns, Ted's views on hunting, Ted's hunting friends, Ted and the NRA .... While I actually agree with most of what Ted has to say, I would like to point out that as a musician he should know the danger of playing the same note over and over.

Ted Nugent refuses to be ignored. Like him or not he speaks his mind. This book is Ted's views on guns and family first and foremost. About his views on God and to a lessor extent his career. This book will be an eye opener to those who don't know much about Ted and his views. Those that see him as a 'long hair' or a 'drug taking rock and roller'. Those that have followed him for years will enjoy the book as Ted once again standing up to be counted.

Throughout the book he states opinions for guns, for child disciplin, for hunting (he has fed his family for over 30 years without store bought meat), for carrying weapons, for God, for family (his greatest pride), for the Constitution of the United States, for the NRA, for involvement with government and your elected officials, for police officers and on and on.

At the same time he has just as strong statements against television, news reporters, being a "sheep", Bill Clinton, Al Gore, Sarah Brady, Janet Reno, Bill Bradley, Dianne Feinstein, stoned hippies, intellectual bankruptcy, drugs, alcohol, ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, crime, unwanted pregnancies, plastic bags, junk food, gangbangers, laughable saggy-pants rappers, the list is endless.

He laments the lost values of quite family time and the sit down dinner. He offers his own perspectives on many of the gun crimes in recent years. Counters the commonly heard statistics with some from government agencies not normally heard from, including the CDC.

This book is a wonderful insight into Ted Nugent, the man, an American original. Perhaps if more American's would follow Ted's example we would be in better shape today as a country. This was a very enjoyable book, read it and think on it.

If your hunter your collection is not completewith out this book. It will remind you of the reason that you started hunting and why you can't sleep the night before a hunt. If your a non-hunter, (then I'm sorry) this book well help you understand why lots of men and women hunt (hell, you may just start hunting).

As an admitted gun nut and second amendment enthusiaist, you can guess that I ate this book up. The Motor City Madman is a favorite rock'n'roller of mine -- I've listened to his music, seen him perform (only on video, unfortunately), and enjoyed watching/hearing him heat things up on talk shows. His brutal honesty and stinging opinions appeal to me and are presented in a very unrelenting way in his book. I didn't open this book with any expectations other than hearing how the three things mentioned in the title work in his life, and, for me, Ted showed that.
While I don't hunt, Ted's experiences gave me an appreciation for it, and I hope someday to bond with my future son in a similar way, patiently waiting and tracking game, giving thanks to God for all the incredible, natural, renewable resources we've been given. Yes, I'm sure he could have given more lip-service to conservation, but I think the reader "gets that" by the way Ted speaks reverently about game, habitat, and eating what he kills (not just pure trophy hunting). If you have any p.e.t.a.-leaning tendencies, you may as well move on because you'll find no love from the Nuge.
I also appreciated his chapters devoted to family. Two parent families are a bit endangered these days, and Ted visits this important issue, arguing that when you leave God, Mom, and Dad out of the picture, and replace it with (among other things) government, you develop the problems we've got today.
So, when all is done, and all the rants have taken place, you get a pretty good idea of what makes Ted and his family tick, how much he loves this country and our inalienable rights, how valuable and important it is to have an armed citizenry, and how great it is to eat meat that you killed yourself.

Willing to stand up and be counted, that's what Ted Nugent does in this book. I am not a gun owner or hunter, but loved this book. However, even though a large part of the book is devoted to hunting, the most compelling reading is when Nugent goes after the people in our society that want to blame guns for crime instead of holding people to be accountable for there own actions. He backs up his arguments with facts, not opinions.
The book starts with a riveting account of Nugent interceding in a pistol whipping of a police officer right on a Florida highway. If that story doesn't get your attention, then check your pulse. The rest of the book is just as interesting, you'll have trouble putting this book down until it is finished.

I doubt many live as Ted does. His book gives a glimpse of his healthy family life, what drives him, and the rules he lives by. His world is not perfect, but only because not enough of us live as Ted does. And Live he does.

First, let me say I have lived in Michigan all my life and I have always been a fan of Ted Nugent. However, the title of this book should be "Guns, Hunting, and more Guns." I was at least expecting some discussion of his life in and out of rock and roll. This book is one hunting and gun story after another and it wears thin about 50 pages into it. I respect Ted and totally believe in free speech and the other rights guaranteed by our constitution. However, Ted leads us to believe that his view is the only "right" one and if you don't think like him then you must be wrong. I lost a LOT of respect for him after reading this. This book is 100% pure DRIVEL!

See God, Guns, 'N' Rock & Roll for a portrait of a washed-up non-artist. His mediocre "rock star" career behind him, Nugent tries desperately to stay in the limelight any way he can. In his latest attempt to stave off infamous anonymity, Nugent casts himself as a crusader, waging a holy war against tasty wildlife.

Nugent's deliberately confrontational ideology boils down to this: "Let's use guns to kill wild animals. Natural selection favors gun owners over deer, and besides killing animals with guns is a fun bonding ritual for the whole family, especially when compared to smoking crack. Also, let's not forget that God loves the NRA."

Eventhough I don't always agree with him and sometimes think he gets too windy I can't say how glad I am as a gun owner,hunter,outdoorsman,familyman, and an American that Ted is doing what he does and the stand he takes for his beleifs and America's. This book was GREAT and reads very quickly. It made me chuckle when the things Ted says hit the nail on the head so sharply he knows his stuff and brings it to you STRAIGHT. This is a must read for all proud Americans ecspecially in these times

This book is an intriguing... He might be preaching to the choir with his no holds-barred, standing up for what's right book. However, rocker Ted Nugent sets the record straight. He is a straight shooter- whether he is speaking out on issues of morality or the right to keep and bear arms- he tells it like it is.

Common sense, values and respect! That's what this book and life are all about. Ted says it well and I can see many of the p.c. people out there thumbing their noses at it. Unfortunately, they're the ones who SHOULD be reading this book.

He's crazy. He always has been! This book reads like a conversation with Nugent and I really enjoyed it, even though I am not certain I always understand. Despite this, I found we do have a lot of beliefs in common. Read it. Enjoy!!

I loved this book. We need far more people on this "planet of the apes" like the old Nuge. He is a true American, with a real understanding of what the founding fathers had in mind when they used the word "freedom." My hat is off to you Ted......you can watch my back anytime! As a side note, I trust VERY FEW people BEHIND me with a firearm......you would be one of the trusted ones.

I have a confession to make. I'm a Detroiter, and I've always been a Nugent fan. Not so much of his music, just of The Nuge. He's never bothered to become an A-list rock'n'roll star (though he could have) since he's found a way to make a very good living just Being Ted. I love the guy, though he's probably a bit more loveable in smaller doses than this book gives you. A little of his "great spirit", howl at the sky style goes quite a long way.

It was a bit disappointing that the book wasn't more biographical. It consists mostly of hunting stories, mixed liberally (if I can use that word in his presence) with his unorthodox but oh-my-god certainly heartfelt philosophy of clean living through killing everything in sight.

But he also slides in a large amount of common-sense wisdom. Responsible gun use. Love of family. The insanity of "recreational" drugs. It would be pointless to argue.

I've always sorta doubted that Ted NEVER EVER EVER did drugs, even in his youth. I remember the big Amboy Dukes album, which was an anthem to drug use from start to finish. But maybe he just went along on that one occasion, who's to say? I hoped he would address this in his book, but except for one photograph the Amboy Dukes aren't mentioned at all. Oh, well; who of us doesn't try to put a different spin on, or just ignore, foolish things we did when we were teenagers? It's certainly true that they (all those big name rockers from the sixties) did drugs and now they're dead, he went hunting and he's still Ted.

His chapter on Fred Bear was heartwarming. He had been acquainted with Bear from his childhood through his father, an early Michigan bowhunter. But as Ted began to come into his own, Bear had to be coaxed to associate with him. Bear despised everything about the rock and roll "culture", and although Ted was certainly no drug-soaked rocker he also certainly looked the part. But in time Bear became his close friend and mentor. I can imagine how deeply Ted felt his loss. He does a good thing in keeping Bear's name alive.

Love him or hate him, he's still Ted. I suspect most of us, down deep where we keep the things we don't admit in public, wish we were him. I certainly do.

Hell, I just wish I had his hair.

Ted Nugent did the world a great thing when he wrote this book. He did a wonderful job relating firearms, hunting, outdoor living, and the anti-drug program. I would personally reccomend this book to anyone that is having trouble with raising children, or who wants to put their life back in the outdoors. Uncle Ted has many great ideas to bring a family back together, and how for parents to become more involved in their kid's lives. If you can stand Ted's extreme attitude you will love this book!!

This is a book of how Mr. Ted Nugent was raised and what his relationship with the outdoors has done to improve his life. My sense is that Ted is a staunch believer in the values taught and upheld by an active family life and that hunting and "communing" with the outdoors is a perfect and natural way to do this. He is also a very outspoken advocate for Second Amendment rights.

This book is delivered in the way only the Nuge knows how: Gonzo. How else? Living and growing up on the mean streets of Detroit would have a way of doing that. He refers to these places as the "Planet of the Apes." This does not assume any sort of racial inference. Quite the contrary, he holds all people equal when it comes to any sort of mind-altering activity, crime and preying on society...they're all citizens of The Planet of the Apes regardless of race, creed or color and are a special bunch of idiots.

If you like "Full Bluntal Nugenty" then this is a good insight into what makes the Nuge tick.

I saw him at the House of Blues in downtown Chicago on 29 Dec 2000. I could tell, despite being in his 50s, that he is not ready to slow down yet. That is a good thing. I was first exposed to the Nuge in Omaha, NE on 3 Dec 1978. It was my first rock concert and I was hooked. He still has the fire in his soul and the searing rock-n-roll guitar today but with a new awareness and a political agenda that I am in total agreement with!

I found this book to be entertaining. At times it is humorous, insightful and profound. Keep strokin', Ted. I'm with ya.

Ted explains his lust for "Life, Liberty, and The Pursuit of Happiness" in a way that makes you want to stand up and cheer!!! This book could turn you from one of the "sheeple"(as compared to "people") into one of the sheep dogs guarding our liberty.

When in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for People to seek reliable and "NONSPUN" information on how to obtain the ultimate goals of all true Americans, Life Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness, we are forced to turn to the "Gonzo Great White Hunter" that wildman of Rock And Roll... the "NUGE!"

I have read many books by celebrities and famous people of which most were not worth a bucket of warm spit! This book by far is the exception! Ted lets us see into his world and his way of life. He shows us how to be self reliant, to be responsible for our own happiness and how to teach the truth about firearms and firearms safety, all by showing us how HE does it! Ted also tells you how to equip yourself for everyday life by carrying the essentials to deal with any situation. My life has been so much better since I have followed his advice.

I got this book hoping to read about a true wildman of rock'n roll, but I must say I came away very disappointed.It was all about Ted Nugent's love of guns,and very little on Rock'n roll.Maybe it should have been titled"I Love Guns",so at least people would know what to expect.I ain't attackin' his pro-gun position,I just wanted to read more about the music!Oh well,there was a cool picture included of Ted's first band,"The Amboy Dukes",so it wasn't a total loss.
