What a wonderful addition to the series, a great read by Stephenie Meyer. It came in wonderful condition with no real shelf-wear on it. Definitely recommended.

If you enjoyed the first two books in the Twlight Saga, you will love this one. Without giving anything away I can say this is where things really begin to fall into place. Eclipse continues to entertain with danger, love, and excitement. Be aware you will want to go on and read book 4 (New Moon)right after you finish this one. I was glad to have New Moon on hand and ready to go the minute I finished Eclipse.

Eclipse sucks you back into the vampire world in the tiny town of forks. It shows you just how hard letting go of an old life and moving to new unfamiliar territory can be.

My favorite book of the series. The tension between the 3 main characters was great. I really believed that Bella would decide to be with Jacob for a normal life together...
The story moved along at a satisfying pace bringing together the werewolf & vampire families to unite. I enjoyed this book the most. (Review Data Last Updated: 2009-08-13 12:52:27 EST)

I don't normally write reviews, but I feel compelled in this case.
I read a lot of the reviews here and whole heartedly agree with most of the negative comments. Both Edward and Jacob don't deserve to be hurt repeatedly by selfish, whiny Bella and I'm frankly surprised either of them put up with it. The love triangle effectively ruined all three characters for me, although I never held much love for Bella, a thoroughly boring main character who's content to let life happen to her and whine about it until people change her circumstances to go her way. And what is up with Edward running after Jacob for Bella? When there was so much danger and the others needed him so much to join the battle? He needed to grow a spine and seriously rethink his future with this crazy girl and then later, after the passionate kiss, maybe kick some werewolf butt and let Vicky have her way with Bella. Eclipse had the same magical quality that hooked me when reading Twilight. With Twilight, I fell in love with the characters of Bella and Edward. I was amazed at Stephenie Meyer's ability to bring these fictional characters to life. I enjoyed New Moon, but must admit that I am an Edward fan and was sorely disappointed in his absence from the majority of the book. I know, I know, it had to happen... but now... AFTER reading Eclipse, I can fully appreciate the story of New Moon. Back to Eclipse. I can't believe I am writing this, but I think it is now my favorite book in the Twilight series. I never thought anything could surpass Twilight, but Eclipse brought all of that old magic back and then some. Excellent work, Stephenie! Thanks for writing these stories that appeal to not just the young but all ages. Can't wait for Breaking Dawn and Midnight Sun.

I think the book was excellent to read, I enjoyed it from start to end and didn't want to put it down until I had completed it. I think it's a book many people will enjoy if they are open to mythlogical creatures in the continuance of Stephanie Myers Twilight Collection.

So everyone knows that this book explores the love triangle that is Bella, Edward and Jacob. Although I loooooovvvvveeeee Edward, I can't help looooovvvvvvvinnnngggg Jacob too. I don't care if anyone disagrees with me on this. The only thing that bothers me is that these two hunks are fighting over Bella. I agree with some of the reviewers about Bella, in the first book she was comfortable in her own skin, shy and private. As the series progresses,,,she becomes a weak and crying twit who complains about everything especially when Alice wants to help her. We all know she needs all the help she can get.
If Edward and Jacob want to fight over someone, they should fight over me. I will take them both. I almost hate to finish the series because I can't stand the fact the Jacob will not win in the end but I am happy that he will end up with someone more deserving than Bella. Ok, some background info... I am in my late 40's and never in my life, has a book series gotten to me this way.
I am truly obsessed with this series. I do read adult and children's books, and I LOVED the Harry Potter series.... But, the difference is I loved reading the Harry Potter series, however I would love to be in this series (and of course, being young again, couldn't hurt....)! Yes.......... the writing is terrible, she uses the same adjectives over and over again, and the characters are pretty one dimensional. Then again, teenagers are pretty one dimensional.... Please remember, parents, this is a fantasy book, it is NOT AN EDUCATIONAL PRIMER FOR YOUNG CHILDREN ON HOW TO BEHAVE IN RELATIONSHIPS. I monitor my son's books at 12, and decide what is appropriate, not the other way around.... So, folks, relax. Just enjoy the series, that is what it is meant for. There isn't really much else to say about this book, except that it is my favorite thus far of the series. The romance certainly develops between Edward and Bella, which I liked, however it can be considered raunchy in some parts for anyone under the age of 15. If I had a daughter I wouldn't let her read it until she was of that age. Otherwise, I really enjoyed this book.

Vampires and wearwolves at war. With the new borns on the loose i was on the edge of my seat yet again. Bella and Edwards upcoming marriage. And you find out a lot about other peoples backstories in this story. Why Rosalie was the way she was and how she was truly envious over Bella being human still and having choices. The story of the Indians at La push.. yet again what a wonderful read.

Let me start by saying that i love the Twilight series. The idea of a normal teenage girl falling in love with a dreamy vampire was captivating. And i was shocked when i realized that Edward hated himself for what he was. I especially liked the fact that Bella was a confident, although private, girl. Oddly, this seemed to change in Eclipse.
Bella seemed to cling to Edward. She said he couldn't leave her or she would "DIE". I understand that she was acting so insecurely because of what happened in the previous book, New Moon, but it was kind of pathetic. At the same time, Edward was feeling guilty for being with Bella because he was "ruining her life". There seemed to be no strong, confident, characters. Everyone was worrying about something or other. This, i completely did not understand. Why, if Bella was so in love with Edward, does she constantly push his buttons with Jacob?? Stephenie Meyer made such a point of Bella's love for Edward, but Bella seemed to be almost equally in love with Jacob. I don't want to ruin the book, but in it, Bella and Jacob share a long kiss. WHY??!! I really didn't get it. I think a better story would have been Bella telling Jacob she was already taken, but he still tries to get her by attacking or provoking Edward, which would have made the relationship between the werewolves and vampires even more tense. Instead of Bella being the wishy-washy doll who can't make up her mind. I mentioned before that Bella and Jacob share a kiss. Although when Edward finds out, he's completely okay with it. My head was spinning at that point. Why was he okay with it? He said that all he wanted was for her to her to be happy, and she should pick whoever made her happy. I really wanted to pull my hair out. Bella was such a weak character, she cries and looks to Edward for support, and when he's gone she cries and looks to Jacob for support. In Twilight, Bella was a confident, strong, yet private girl (Review Data Last Updated: 2009-08-02 02:01:07 EST)

***Spoilers***
I am a parent reading through this series because my 11-year-old is reading them. I am glad that we are discussing these books every night so that my child doesn't get polluted by Ms. Meyers ideas about how relationships work. Honestly, I can't believe there hasn't been more outrage from feminists about this series. 1. This is just a horribly written book: Isn't isn't often that I find myself rolling my eyes while I read. Her language use is unoriginal and repetitive. I noticed this in the second book and decided to keep "score" while reading this, the third. She seems to think that describing Edward's physical appearance is critically important since she does it over and over with the same adjectives, so I decided to count those adjectives. Ms. Meyers has a very small adjective repertoire. She uses the word "perfect/perfection" to describe him only 5 times in this book. That is an improvement over the first two books in this series. She describes his eyes as "liquid gold" 15 times. She describes him as "stone/marble/statue" 25 times, which you can only imagine gets pretty tedious. But her worst sin is her use of "icy/cold" 40 times to describe the temperature of his skin. I would like to see her describe more about his personality, assuming he even has one, or just about anything other than his appearance and temperature. He's a Perfect Icy Marble specimen, we get it. Oh, and I didn't count them, but Jacob is always "russet colored," whether she's talking about his skin, his fur or his lips. Really, watch for that. 2. Inability to describe authentic emotions. This isn't real literature. This isn't even good fiction. I'm classifying this as an adolescent romance novel, but even then I'd hope that the descriptions of emotions would be interesting, at the very least. However, whenever anyone gets angry she has them do one thing, universally, no matter which character she's writing about. They make fists. She uses this image 17 times. Is there nothing else an angry person does that suggests that they are angry? Does their face change maybe? Their tone of voice? Their behavior? Does she really know this little about human behavior or is her writing really that shallow? 3. Every relationship in this series is unhealthy in some way: When Bella is afraid to share something with her father, for example, she's afraid that, "Charlie (dad) wouldn't speak to me for months." Really? Is it respectful for children to call their parents by their first names? Do parents stop speaking to their children? What world is this author living in, or what type of world did she grow up in? Bella doesn't have one healthy relationship in this book. Her relationship with her mom is reversed. She also care-takes her father. She does not respect her parents as authority figures and in fact flagrantly disobeys house rules by sneaking her boyfriend into her bedroom every night. 4. There is no consistency of character from book to book. I laughed out loud when Bella's assessment of her over-active imagination in book #3 results in her saying, "I needed therapy." But in book #2, after months of catatonic depression and suicidal ideation, she never considered therapy. When her dad suggested it she got angry, probably even made fists. If a character doesn't have any backstory, and Bella has virtually none, then it is easy to lose track of who she is, even if you're the author. 5. Use of cheap plot devices: This writer is so unskilled that when Bella has secrets that need to be exposed, she conveniently talks in her sleep. Yup, every single time. 6. Lazy writing: Newspaper reporting/writing has a formula. It's pretty straightforward and easy to look up and learn, if you're a writer. Meyer is completely unfamiliar with this writing style and didn't bother to learn it for the portions of this book that are supposed to be newspaper articles. If I didn't bother to learn a piece of my job I might get fired, 7. Bella is a vapid role-model: Bella's sole interest and her entire future plan is to become a vampire. She doesn't ask many questions about what that will be like at the beginning, or what she'll be giving up. She spends more time justifying why her old truck is the perfect car for her than she does making the decision to become immortal, or inhuman. Eternity, honey. It's a long time. Don't you think you should do a little research first? Eternity might seem pretty long without interests, hobbies and an education. Bella's narcissism becomes tiresome. For example, in the middle of a war, literally, she thinks this is the right time to talk about relationships and break-up with people because we all know that the sun rises and sets on Bella. It's always about her. While my child was reading this book we spent a lot of time talking about relationships, character, and whether he would want any of these people as friends. I don't want to discourage his reading, and most of the time I think that reading garbage is better than reading nothing at his age. In the case of this series, though, I recommend that parents of young readers supplement these books with lots of conversation. (Review Data Last Updated: 2009-08-02 02:01:07 EST)

I'm not in the habit of writing reviews on Amazon, but I was so disappointed in this book that I'm making an exception, just so I can vent.
I'm embarrassed to admit, as an adult in my thirties, that I loved the first two books in this series. Though they're not particularly well-written, the story was great and I identified with clumsy, backwards Bella, so much like myself as a teenager. Sometimes a little light-hearted make-believe is just what the doctor ordered, especially if it involves sexy vampires. I felt like a love-struck, hormonal teen again while reading Twilight and New Moon. But this book spoiled that mood. The characters changed for the worse in Eclipse. Jacob turned into a first-rate jerk, losing his fun, sunny disposition and becoming a manipulative brat whom I couldn't imagine Bella (or anyone else) being in love with. I was so disgusted with him that I honestly hoped he would die at the end. Alice became too annoying to bear. Bella was utterly ridiculous and implausible in her persistent refusal to marry Edward. What's marriage compared to giving up your human life to spend an eternity as a vampire with someone? Edward improved as a character in some ways as the novel progressed, losing some of his haughty arrogance, becoming kinder, and letting Bella think and act for herself, but he also became less interesting. I think he could have been given more compassion and empathy without being flattened, rendered two-dimensional. Most of all, I hated, absolutely hated, the diluting of Edward and Bella's fated romance with the addition of Bella's secondary love for Jacob. It seemed to me that the idea of one true, destined love was the whole point of the Twilight series. These books were intended to be completely unrealistic, escapist fantasy, a fantasy where all-consuming, true love for one person exists along with the equally unbelievable mythical monsters. For me, Bella's love for Jacob sullied that love, ruined the fantasy. Maybe I wouldn't have minded it if Jacob had retained the sweet, fun character that he had in New Moon and if it were more clear that Bella's love for Edward were much greater than that her love for Jacob. Instead, it's as if she's giving up the potential for a happier life with Jacob because she is compelled against her will to be with Edward, as if she doesn't really love Edward, but can't live without him anyway. Where's the fun in that? (Review Data Last Updated: 2009-08-02 02:01:07 EST)

This book falls somewhere between Twilight and New Moon on my rating scale. The plot revolves around a couple of separate happenings: a vampire from previous books is on the hunt for Bella, and in nearby Seattle a vampire army is forming and attacking humans in the area. Most of the plot is highly predictable, but that's okay by me, because the plot is just backdrop for the character drama.
The real meat of the book is the love triangle set up between Bella, Edward and Jacob. Finally, the two guys get their chance to fight for Bella's affection. Meyer manages to throw them into situations that cause constant interactions between the three, and even when it seems forced or silly it doesn't matter as long as the characters get in their dialogue. Disappointingly, the triangle is very lopsided, and that takes away most of the tension that would've made the story five stars easily. Edward removes himself from the setup early on by simply announcing that he's not going to be jealous. I suppose this is supposed to make him appear virtuous but ends up killing my interest in him. It's no fun reading about drama over a girl when one player deliberately isn't even trying. That leaves Jacob, who is so altered from his character in New Moon as to be almost a joke. Now instead of intuitive, kind and thoughtful he's an abusive jerk with severe anger problems. The choice is completely obvious from the get-go, but Meyer decides to sustain the non-drama for page after page by making Bella a dithering, weak and dependent character. All she does when she's on stage is whine and moan, and fail to take some kind of decisive action in getting rid of Jacob so she can further her relationship with Edward. The resolution to all this - when she reaches her "great epiphany" about her feelings for Jacob - ends up completely alienating her from this reader. In fact the best sequence from the book is when Jacob and Edward have a long talk *while Bella is asleep*, and it ends up being very nicely done. It's disappointing, because I think there was a lot of potential here that ended up wasted. Jacob and Edward are both distinct characters with distinct personalities, but they're a little thin at the start... and if the book had instead fleshed out Bella and the boys into solid individuals, this could have been gripping and brilliant. Instead it just sort of wavers between "decent" to "bland and unbelievable". It's an improvement from New Moon but still lacks the impact of the original Twilight. Is this the 3rd book already? I am not a young kid. I'm a 40-something woman who picked up her kids book one day and got hooked. This one is better than the other two. I have the last book waiting for me and hear that it is even better. Sometimes I think Bella complains too much but she's a typical teenager. I recommend this book to anyone who likes suspense. it's very well thought out and keeps your interest.

Meyer's writing seems to be improving with each book in this series. I found Eclipse to be less repetitive and less angsty than the first two, and the heightened focus on the triangle between Edward, Bella, and Jacob (with Bella becoming strong enough emotionally to break away from Edward's domination a little) added a better kind of tension to the plot. I don't know what it is about this series - it's just compelling. :)

I whizzed through Twilight, and I say with more than a bit of chagrin that I loved it. I have a master's degree in literature, but unlike the author of this saga, I know poorly written material when I see it. This series is poorly written. It's long-winded and repetitive with no character development and a penchant for melodrama over any discernable substance. That being said, I loved the passion that crackled at the beginning of Edward's relationship with Bella. I couldn't wait to read about the consummation of their ardor. I'm about a quarter of the way through Breaking Dawn now, and I'm still waiting. I know it's a young adult novel, but there's NO details of their honeymoon other than some destroyed down pillows and a damaged headboard. After what seems like 1 million pages since beginning Twilight, I'm so annoyed with Bella, that I hope something supernatural eats her and spits out her bones by the end of Breaking Dawn.
There are so many holes in this saga. Where do I begin? A.) Edward is initially so ready to kill Bella and drink her blood, just from the scent of her, and he constantly reminds her that this is still in his mind until she becomes a vampire, too. Additionally, his family (except for Carlisle) has to run and hide when she gets a paper cut (and then the ensuing glass shard injury) to keep from drinking her blood. Jasper practically bites her in half JUST from the paper cut boo-boo. Bella is a teenage girl. I don't mean to be base or crude, but once a month, shouldn't her life be in mortal danger around all of the Cullens? No one picks up THAT scent?? B.)WHY would ANYONE want to be around this girl??? She is nasty to Edward when he tries to give her perfectly lovely gifts. She is nasty to Alice for wanting to throw her a graduation party. She is more than cruel discussing her engagement to Edward. Ugh. Presents? Parties? A WEDDING??? Surely this is disgusting to every girl. C.)She is impregnated by a vampire. I don't care what mythology you follow. He has no heartbeat. He has no saliva (other than venom). He is icy cold. But he produces viable sperm??? My husband just chuckles every time I mention another inconsistency about this series to him. I feel embarrassed to be reading it AND WANTING to know what happens next. If you're going to the dark (read: dense) side to read these books, I suggest the library. Then it won't cost you anything except some of your eyesight, a bit of your sanity, and time spent drowning in the drivel of the length-equivalent of the Encyclopedia Britannica without the wit or wisdom.` (Review Data Last Updated: 2009-07-18 17:44:17 EST)

This book, like the previous two titles is excellent, and will make a fine addition to any collection. The writing style of Ms. Meyers is both intriguing and well-paced for such a thick book. Like the previous titles, this one is a page turner and before the reader knows it, they are half-way through the book. The theme sheds a different light on 'vampires" and "werewolves." While the more sophisticated reader may find this genre a stretch of the imagination, Ms. Meyer's creative writing style in this series leaves no stone unturned. I bought this book for a very good friend of mine and to see her delve into the previous two titles and now this one is simply amazing. While many of the protagonists are young, the intrigue, the romance, the conflicts, and the adults of these young protagonists illustrates how all of these emotions do not discriminate between young and old.

Of the four books, I found this one just a bit exhausting. In that I feel the author achieved great success with the book.
I was often irritated by Jacob and also by Bella, who's uncertainty about what she wanted and the decisions she knew she had to make was over exposed. The continued threat on Bella's life gives the story some pacing that helps move past the irritation and once again I found some humor in some of the dialog, though it may have been intended to be serious, rather than humor provoking. The other characters in the book help lift the story. I am still, like Bella, irrevocably in love with Edward! It is a good third novel in the saga, though not altogether my favorite. Again, having read some of the reviews on this and the other books in the series, I am appaled at how readers can surmise to tell an author how to tell a story. The book has been labeled as "sexist" by one reviewer? That to me in itself is a sexist remark. We are not all created equal and believe me there are some of us who believe that the feminist movement and their rhetoric is the biggest load of (use your imagination). The review of a book is not the place for any individual to stand on their own personal brand of idiocy. This is a novel for crying out loud-fictional- and it is well written, describing the glaring emotions of a young girl who is just tad more mature than others of the same age and who, at a young age found the one true love for her. Experiencing those emotions, and uncertainties that many girls will experience is a natural part of growing up and the author expresses those very well. Let me start off by saying that I am not a fan of the Twilight series, and this book was as disappointing as the previous two. I read it while on vacation and found it to be boring and sexist. Not to mention, the levels of abuse in Bella's relationships with both Edward and Jacob increase dramatically.
In this installment of the series, Bella is sort of in a love triangle with Edward and Jacob, despite the fact that she knows she wants to be with Edward. She just can't hurt Jacob by giving him a clean break. In other words, she is completely selfish. She knows how much it hurts Jacob to be with Edward yet can't quite cut ties with him. The most alarming thing about her relationships with the two male protagonists is the level of abuse that Bella tolerates and excuses. Edward removes her car's engine and has Bella kidnapped to prevent her from seeing Jacob, who is her best friend. I was horrified to read her excuse this clearly abusive behavior by saying "he only did it because he loves me so much". What kind of a message does that send to the impressionable young girls who eat up this garbage? That it's OK for your boyfriend to decide who you can and cannot see? Jacob forceably kisses Bella, and when she tells her father that Jacob assaulted her, Charlie applauds Jacob for it and basically encourages it. Jacob later threatens to commit suicide in order to guilt Bella into kissing him, and when she does, she decides that she's also in love with Jacob. I truly could not believe what I was reading. For an author of young adult novels to ever talk about suicide the way Meyer does is simply inexcusable. I found it hilarious that Bella was so against marrying Edward yet completely willing to give up her entire human life in order to become a vampire to be with him. This novel actually has a battle scene, but the ability of Edward to read minds and Alice to see the future make it ridiculously uneven before it even begins. Bella spends many, many pages whining and worrying about the Cullens and the wolves, but never fear, for not a single "good guy" dies. They are outnumbered, but fighting so-called "newborn" vampires who are strong but predictable, and Jasper just so happens to be an expert on these specimens. The battle sequences are definitely decent, but to me, Meyer's refusal to have any of her beloved characters die (other than the bad ones of course) automatically makes this series the opposite of epic, and how it is referred to as a Saga I will never know. Death is a part of life, and for Meyer to so blatantly avoid anything that would hurt her beloved characters is frustrating beyond belief. This review is somewhat disjointed and messy, and for that I apologize. I just truly cannot remember much about this book, which really shows how much of an impact it made on me. Bella's need to make everyone else happy is grating on the nerves.
However, it's understandable. She was her mother's caretaker and then on the move to Forks, went into the caretaker role for her father easily. This is the way she is...she thinks she doesn't deserve to be loved for herself and goes overboard. Her obsession with not drawing attention to herself fits this caretaker role perfectly. How sad. Edward is not controlling. He is on a mission to see her happy however much she fights against this. He also feels the need to protect her. His inability to read her thoughts is a crucial plot element. What fun would it be if nothing was a surprise? Her self flagellation over Jacob is nerve racking and something I thought could have been shortened extensively. I am not a Jacob fan. Too much emotional pain to be good. I think this is my favorite Twilight book of the series. The whole book/story is so engaging. I love the pull between Jacob and Edward. Of course my heart is for Edward <3. The story again keeps the reader on the edge of the seat, one I just couldn't put down.

The Plot: A vampire is creating an army of newborns who are going on killing sprees. In order to protect human Bella Swan and destroy the army and its leader, the Forks vampires and werewolves realise their best chance to succeed is to work together.
The Relationships: Bella wants to shag vampire Edward Cullen ASAP, particularly before he changes her into a bloodsucker. But Marble Man refuses to shag her until they're married. B wants to go vamp, but doing so may mean cutting off her ties with werewolf best mate Jacob Black. Also, she realises she's in love with the Quileute hottie, but unless E agrees to an open marriage, Bella can't have both lads. Actually, open marriage wasn't discussed, but it should've been. Genuinely Interesting Content: Jasper Hale's history. The army of newborns plot. RANDOM STUFF -"For a teenager, you're amazingly non-whiney." Oh, Charlie, I don't know whether to laugh or cry at your naïveté/stupidity. -"Besides, there's lots of financial aid out there. It's easy to get loans." Bella, when you say things like this, you're really dim. -If only Bella followed the "bros before hos" rule. Friends before lovers. Jacob before Edward. Bros before hos. -So frustrating! Bella won't do what Charlie says, yet always does what Edward says. [...] abusive relationship... [...]! -I'm with Charlie - I wouldn't want my daughter shagging a vampire. Made of stone/granite/marble. What if part of him...breaks off? -Edward stole part of Bella's truck's engine. Next he'll be cutting her brakes. Eek! [...] abusive relationship... -"her oddly feline face" - So not only is Victoria a possibly-Canadian vampire, but also...a werecat? I'm calling her Thundercat. -Bella: "Alice, don't you think this is just a little bit controlling? Just a tiny bit psychotic, maybe?" Alice: "Not really." Bella should dump Edward's psychotic arse. Alice is NOT COOL for thinking there's nothing controlling or psychotic about him. -Jacob: "You know, I saw this story on the news last week about controlling, abusive teenage relationships and --" Jacob is awesome. -I've never read WUTHERING HEIGHTS, but judging by the page Edward marked, he thinks Heathcliff is a vampire. Dude, what the eff? -B: "People don't just get married at eighteen! Not smart people, not responsible mature people!" [edit] "That's not who I am..." Yes it is. -Victoria & Irina want revenge for James's & Laurent's deaths respectively. If they weren't undead, I'd swear they were PMSing. -"...I wanted HIS venom to poison my system." That's totally a double-entendre. And/or a euphemism. -Chapter 20 is hilarious. E gives B a gift: "It's hard and cold...And it throws rainbows in the sunlight." It's not his wang. -E shagging B may break her. So what if she gets a shattered pelvis? She'll have had snu-snu. Amazon Eddie! -E born in 1901. Book published 2007. E still has his "virtue". And he's Marble Man. Reckon he'd be a dud root. (Review Data Last Updated: 2009-07-03 00:13:52 EST)

By far this is my favorite book of the series. Not the most exquisitely written series. Not as good as Harry Potter to which it is often compared. But truly, it is not the same as or should be considered in the same breath as that series. Meyers may be no Rowling, Wharton or Austen, but she knows how to weave a very intriguing story for those with a vivid and open imagination.

First off, I only started reading the Twilight series AFTER I'd seen the movie, then I actually read Stephanie Meyer's Midnight Sun on her website before entering into the series. Perhaps it's because I came at this from a different order, but I feel that reading Edward's perspective of the love story between Bella and himself put some of the missing puzzles together. To be quite honest, I enjoyed reading from Edward's perspective much more than Bella's and I sincerely hope that she will finish Midnight Sun someday. But back to the critique...
I think Stephanie Meyer did a fantastic job capturing the internal struggles that Bella faced with the decision of choosing Edward vs. Jacob. Although she loved Jacob, he would never fulfill her heart the way that Edward would. He was her soulmate, her reason for existence, she could not live without him. And although she loved Jacob and could envision the life (the normal life) that she might have had with Jacob, if she had chosen him, she would always been left wanting for more. Although she was heartbroken and in pain after she'd told Jacob her final decision, that pain was miles away in comparison to the months and months of torment that Edward's disappearance had done to her. She would be sad, hurt, but that type of pain that leaving Jacob would cause her is not the type that would leave her in a lifeless state. She understood herself and that is why she KNEW that being without Edward was unbearable, but being without Jacob would be hard, but she could endure. It's like when the first love ended, even though you find love again and could be happy, that first love will always hold a special place for you. For Bella, Edward was her first and one true love. The one that she knew she could not live without. It was a pure, innocent love that only a first love could be. With Jacob, her love was more of an "adult love." Not as fervent, not as crazed, it was a practical and realistic love, but it wasn't the life or death type of love she shared with Edward. It could be something that eventually made her happy, but it would be a type of happiness that would leave yearnings. I'd read many reviews before I borrowed this book to read. I found that many readers found the way that Edward seemed to have lost his "cockiness, arrogance, and edge" to be repulsive and was one of the many critiques that were thrown at Meyer's writing skill. I believe if the readers got a chance to read Midnight Sun and understand Edward's perspective (even though that work is far from complete and certainly doesn't even cover contents of Twilight entirely), it would make much more sense as to why Edward would act the way he does, putting up with everything that Bella would throw at him and allowing her find out how she felt about Jacob. Edward never felt he could deserve her, even from the very beginning when he realized he loved her. Just as she never felt good enough for him, he never felt good enough for her. I do not agree that Meyer seemed to be pitting Bella's 2 loves against each other in this battle of who loves Bella more. Both men are willing to do step back and accept whomever she chooses, in that way they are both honorable. But I did not feel that Bella was going back and forth trying to figure out who loved her more, she knew they both loved her unselfishly, to the extent that she did not deserve, but it was only at the end that Bella realized she did love Jacob as well, but not in the way that she would always love Edward. She had closed herself off to that possibility because Jacob represented everything that she would give up when she decided to join Edward and if she allowed herself to understand that, she could feel hesitant in her decision. Since she cannot live without Edward, the love of her entire existence, giving up Jacob was something that she knew she could and had to live with. (Review Data Last Updated: 2009-07-03 00:13:52 EST)

I could not help but feel drawn to the romance between Bella and Jacob. Although, I knew Bella would end up with Edward, I secretly rooted for the other scenario. When they did share their few "moments" together I was ecstatic.
This book also has the most exciting fight scene of the series and really kept me interested the whole way through. I was sad when I read it in less then a day but happy to know it met my expectations. The best in the series! (Review Data Last Updated: 2009-07-03 00:13:52 EST)

This book series is one of the best page turners i have ever read. I had not read any part of this before the movie twilight came out. and hearing that the movie was (dumb) i never thought it would have been so good. I bought the first book and after reading it i went to the local libary to get NEW MOON but found that with even 2-3 books there was still a 16 person waiting list. i went to a differant libary and got lucky and found the last 3 (new moon, eclipse, breaking dawn. I read all 3 in less than 2 weeks then read the entire series one more time. Even knowing were i could keep checking them out i went to amazon and found i could buy them super cheap and ordered the last 3 books. I then put my self on the libarys waiting list for the audio books. I got breaking dawn first (probably my most favored book of the series) and have listened to it at least 5 times in the last 2 weeks.

"Eclipse" is a wonderful book. It enables the reader to travel to another time and place. To see vampires and werewolves join forces over a common cause: Bella. The lines between good and evil blur at times when someone is not as good or as bad as they appear to be. This book is one of the best books I've ever read in my life and I would recommend it to anyone.

In this, the 3rd novel in the series, two young men who are rivals for the love of Bella, must join forces to protect her life. Although their rivalry remains strong, they carry it off in subtle and sometimes not so subtle ways, as they focus their attention on the danger to Bella that overshadows all they do. While some readers feel that the interpretation of teenage love is too extreme, I believe that it is a genuine view. Teenage love is intense and overwhelming and supercedes all else. I believe that this is part of the appeal to young readers, that someone sees life the way they feel and experience it. To combine this authentic view of love with the supernatural world of vampires and werewolves grants a spellbinding story that enchants and delivers.

I was a fan of the first two, but found Eclipse to be a disappointment. I really want to like Bella - sad, lonely, accident prone Bella - but really lost respect for her in this book. Women are so fickle...

If you're reading the Twilight Saga, even if you didn't like Book 2 ('cause let's face it, it's kinda depressing and boring), but this one is much much better! And a "GOT TO READ" before "Breaking Dawn". This is where Victoria gets killed... Ok.. no more spoilers... Trust me, if you already started reading the saga, finish it! The ending's worth it ^_^

Eclipse is great; I think it may be the best of the series since Bella has to deal with human and non human emotions (like high school graduation, college, marriage, vampire vengeance, etc..) In regards to what other people have said I think Bella is "used" as a way to show the other characters; I read the other three books (loved them) and it seems to me that Bella, who certainly does not have anything special, is not SM's main character; I think Edward is as well as the other people; she uses bella's character to explore and construct a group of people. I think SM does a great job describing the state of mind of vegetarian vampires, as well as werewolves given that they're not real. I think that's what I like about the books, the depth of her analysis and how it is combined with a great story telling ability. The other stuff, i guess is just used to attract teenage girls. I am not a teenager anymore, but it worked for me.

I absolutely LOVE Eclipse. It is my second favorite book of the Twilight Saga, and the only book I've read more than once out of the series. Stephenie's story-telling skills definitely improve, and with the action scenes at the end of the story, it is definitely the most fulfilling plot-wise.
